hey guys, i am not new to the scene but i have actually run into a big problem.
A few minutes ago i flashed a Hero rom followed by the ebi1 kernel, it booted up perfectly fine and went into installation, still no problems.
Once installation finished i learned that for some reason the home app(launcher) doesn't load, it just constantly gives an error force close when trying to go to the home.
Everything else does work.
I then decided to reflash the ROM, when booting my phone it would not go into recovery, i held the home button and it froze at rogers logo,
I tried again after a battery pull and same result, i thought uh oh, BRICK!
When i rebooted again( holding nothing down ) I learned that it apparently does boot! if i leave it alone, it does the whole buttons light up screen dims thing just before it boots, then the screen dies off and I hear a sound meaning usb connected, **(all this while it is still showing the second boot screen)**
The end button works to turn screen off and on but it it stuck at the second (MLGIN or whatever nexus style boot screen)
I nave now found a way to actually get past the boot screen, if i call the phone it will go into the dialer and I can actually use it as a phone!!, once in like this I can actually use the phone completely except for going to launcher(home), I can make calls (if someone calls me to get into the dialer), use the lockscreen, send a message (if someone sends one to me), enable usb mount.
I have a nandroid and a BART saved but like I said i cannot get into recovery.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
Please let me know if my post doesnt make any sense, i can try and get my thoughts out again!
EDIT I CAN get Droid explorer to work, this means i can install any apps that could help! but i dont think i could launch them
-with droid explorer i can use terminal, cant i launch stuff with that? also, when i click Bart manager it says i need to buy a license, aww
- I clicked on reboot into recovery in droid manager, the phone rebooted but it hung at the rogers logo, I really cant understand how the recovery doesn't work!
EDIT it WILL boot into fastboot mode!
Can i install an alternate launcher with droid explorer, I think that if i can do this, when i hit home it will give me the option of choosing which laucher right? i then choose the new one.
Any one know where to get a different launcher? or perhaps the launcher from this ROM so i can try and reinstall it
Because i can use droid explorer, the options are nice,
I still need help organising the above attempt, but if that fails I could also use the flash recovery image option in DE and try that.
Am i right in saying that I should first try and get a different launcher to work or should i go straight for the recovery. If the recovery doesnt wokr could I lose access to the phone booting? (thus droid explorer)
OK I would LOVE some community help here:
I think i wave 3 options
1) install any apk (namely a new launcher and get the phone to atleast function properly)
2) Re flash a recovery image
3) Flash a ROM
All of these would be done with droid explorer, i think i have listed them from least risky to most risky (if i flash ROM and that doesn't fix it i could be out of droid explorer)
Could you guys help me start up, where can i get what, my mind is racing too much!!!
ok, using droid explorer i re flashed the recovery, it now boots into recovery. i am going to reflash the hero rom as i really want to use it!
Hi,
I hate to start a new thread but I don't know where to go from here.
First off; I am having issues with the market not downloading anything, the files go to the download folder and say downloading forever. I am unable to download anything.
Secondly; I try to add my gmail account to the email app and it says "setup could not finish, unable to open connection to server." However I am able to add the gmail account to the gmail app.
Both were working before I flashed my Captivate using I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0 and then rooted it with SuperOneClick. I have flashed it a few times thinking that it could of been a bad flash, but always the same result. I have tried to access the market and email before rooting and still the same result.
I have sideloaded ROMmanager and was hoping to load a new rom that may fix the issues however ROMmanager will not flash ClockworkMod Recovery. I click it and a download bar appears for a split second and then nothing.
I am at my wits end trying to solve the issues here.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot!
Backup your data, and do a master clear using I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0.exe. Reinstall the ROM afterwards. I hope it helps.
Thanks for the quick replay.
I have tried that a few times already. Any other ideas
I've read a lot of solutions to the market issue saying to log in to google talk. Yet when I open talk it simply says could not connect to server. will retry shortly.
Thanks
Same here

This is the update zip created by rom manager. Save to your internal sd. Use three button to get into recovery. Reinstall packages, boots to same screen. Reinstall packages. Boots into clockwork. You can flash a rom from there
Solved the problem.
Do a factory reset through the menus. Once it boots back up, open the market and proceed to add your google account that way.
Worked perfectly for me.
I got this phone rooted G1 thats was stuck at the welcome screen, but got pass that and now when i try to load setting on the main menu .I get the error message.
Error :the application nexus launcher (processcom android.launcher2) has stopped unexpectedly.please try again
the build for from the recovery menu is :
build cyanogenmod v1.4 +JF
Can this be fix/corrected ?
Sound like you have a bad launcher (Like ADW that I had), see if you can download the other (IE: GO Launcher EX) one from the market.
Will the phone function to get to Market without a launcher? I've never tried. After installing a new one, it only asks me to select one/set permanent when or if I press the Home button. I can still use Back.
Can you use ADB to install or copy an APK then reboot? Or better yet just flash a newer ROM in recovery. It's usually a last resort, but since that's quite an old ROM it'd be worth it.

To install via ADB:
Code:
adb install <path_to_apk>
Here's the story:
I bought an AT&T HTC One that had an unlocked bootloader and was rooted. I SIM-unlocked it so I could use T-Mobile. Everything worked perfectly fine.
Today I decided I wanted to try out AR HD. I use CWM to flash it, and have a few problems the first few times because of Aroma Installer. Eventually it installs fully, but when I rebooted, something went wrong. It wouldn't boot up. Eventually I had to wipe everything (including the internal storage, which had a backup of mine), and now I'm trying to flash a working rom on this phone.
So now I've tried pretty much everything. The main problem now is that in recovery, when I try to flash a ROM it says it can't mount the the sdcard. I've tried using Nocturnal's method of using the stock recovery to wipe the partitions and everything, but it still gives the the can't mount error.
If anyone could help me I would really appreciate it! Looks like I'm going to have to get a SIM adapter to use with my Galaxy Nexus until I can get this fixed.

Download the All-In-One toolkit from the development section and follow the directions to ADB SIDELOAD a ROM onto your phone.
EDIT: now with a link to the thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183942&highlight=all-in-one
Well, I got it to flash a ROM, but now there's a new problem...
I got it to flash the ROM by using CWM to flash a ROM after using Nocturnal's method instead of TWRP.
So now I'm in setup, and am prompted to select a WiFi network. I selected my network, put in the password correctly (it shows connected), and now when I press Next, it transitions forward and then straight back to the WiFi page. Won't let me progress past it.
I think it might have something to do with HTC Sync Manager (I have it installed and running just fine), but I don't know what to do about it.

You can skip the wifi setup. Try changing the channel on the router sometimes phones and routers on certain channels don't get along.
I have a Nook HD+
So, I was having some issues with CWM so I decided to switch to TWRP.
Not sure if that caused the issue, but suddenly booting into recovery is a pain in my rear.
I got it to do it once again to flash a different rom, but now I cant really seem to get the shortcut to recovery to work?
And I dont have access to the app store because I forgot to flash the gapps apk so I cant get an app from there to send it to recovery.
Does anyone have any recommendations? I am gonna keep fiddling and see if I can get it to finally go into recovery.

The problem with switching recoveries should only be the correct recovery to the correct rom. Otherwise, going from cwm to twrp shouldn't do any harm.
What is a shortcut to recovery? <- Is this the recovery item on the power menu? Or holding down power + home?
If you have access to a browser you can just download gapps. There's no need to use an app.
If you have access to a pc, just make a bootable sdcard with recovery on it + gapps + rom and then you can't go wrong - though some people could still find a way. lol
I always do.
I dont have a microSD card reader on anything but this tablet and was under the impression I couldnt make a bootable card from the media browser.
The shortcut to recovery I had used before was from the TWRP manager app.
You can get the "Reboot to Recovery" option on the power button's menu by enabling Settings->Buttons->Power Button->Reboot Menu and Settings->Dev.-Options->Advanced Reboot Menu.
Oh wow, never knew that.
Problem solved. Thanks a bunch
