Possibility for LB to get root or recovery - Xperia Z4/Z3+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there any possibility ,for unlockable bootloaders in the future,to get root or should I sell my handset?

No possibility

i checked my status, and it said unlockable bootloader: NO
then ran the BLU option in flashtool, and it failed of course... but after i rebooted and checked again, it said yes... idk if this is a bug, but anyhows it said NO... no im unlocked, rooted, drm fixed and everything

my Xperia app
When My Xperia app is activated then BL unlock status shows NO. When its deactivated then BL unlock status shows Yes.

Bootloader locked means u cannot load anything at boot that would tinker with the basic core of the device, like u cannot use custom kernels when ur bootloader is locked that is y ppl unlock their boot loaders Google for further info.
As for the OP's problem :
This is a known issue when u root ur device without unlocking bootloader, the solution to this is to do a full repair using Sony Suite which will result in loss of all data phone ,SD card etc .
check this link out its clearly stated over there
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368
Troubleshooting:
if your device has unlockable bootloader then after applying this hack the bootloader status will turn "Bootloader unlock allowed: No"
in that case dont worry the users have reported that doing a repair via SEUS will flash back stock firmware and turn this status to "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes" (the same might also be achieved by flashing a stock FTF using FlashTool <yet to be confirmed>)
ROOT WILL BE LOST BY DOING THE ABOVE AND YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE MAY GET WIPED!
SO DO A BACKUP OF APPS & INTERNAL STORAGE ON AN EXTERNAL SDCARD/PC
How so some people can unlock the bootloader and some can't??

[Q] Bravia Engine - Is it worth it?

Hi, my bootloader is suddenly unlockable since the .244 firmware update from Sony. So my question is this: is it worth losing the Bravia Engine by unlocking my bootloader? Is the Bravia Engine really a feature worth having on the XZ and are there any substitutes?

If your Phone came from a carrier then it isn't unlockable regardless of the change in status.

Sad news :crying: thanks. XperienceD what's your take on Bravia anyway? Is it worth keeping a locked bootloader for Bravia Engine?
I unlocked my bootloader as soon as I got my phone. I would rather have an unlocked bootloader so I have the ability to flash custom roms and kernels then seen the colours a little brighter when watching videos and viewing pictures.

Yeah well the biggest downside to locked bootloader is no chance of AOSP roms :crying: luckily most of the Xperia's UI is pretty cool, particularly the Honami email, messaging and contacts. So after XperienceD's news about bootloader being locked if the handset came from a carrier, I can live with it for now... gonna try unlock it anyway

I'd prefer to keep it but would happily sacrifice it for the ability to be able to unlock my BL. You can try for nothing but if it does come from a carrier then I've yet to see anyone who has reported this change in status then go on to unlock it. I'll never have another Phone from a carrier that's for sure.
Is it worth?
Simply. Yes. That's my opinion.
Btw, I unlocked bootloader and I still have BE2, all these DRM keys. Is it normal?
Seems http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ is intermittently down tonight loaded the web page earlier but can't load it now. Will check it out tomorrow, my phone is from Vodacom so it's a carrier phone.. this will be an interesting test. Is it normal for Sonymobile website to be down? "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later." Poor show if it is..
Can anyone confirm if you're getting an error on this link: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/

It worked, unlocked my bootloader with a carrier issued handset I bought my phone from a dude when it was three months old. It came from Vodacom. It had the Vodafone logo splash screen when booting from stock and he showed me a photo of the registration screen at Vodacom when he picked it up. So I assume it was a carrier issued handset. Anyway, seems all is well now :highfive:
Bootloop on Sony logo after unlocking bootloader. What am I missing? Do I need to flash new .244 firmware and then flash custom rom?

I flashed .244 stock firmware in Flashtools and now it's fine. But I can't flash custom kernel, so I suppose that means my bootloader is still locked? But when I unlocked it, it said successful

Type *#*#7378423#*#* (service) in dialer.
Then open Service info > Configuration
Check "Rooting status"
if it says "Bootloader unlocked: Yes" guess what
if it says "Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes" or something like this, your bl isn't unlocked

When I unlock my bootloader, I know I'll lose my sdcard content but will I still be able to boot into the rom (I'm using monx for LB/UB) or do I need to re-flash?
Success!!
Success!! :highfive: thanks for the advice here, bootloader is now unlocked yes man :victory::victory:

Hey XperienceD, dunno how this happened. My bootloader changed from a status of unlock not allowed to unlock allowed after I flashed .244. Now I managed to unlock the bootloader, and it's a carrier phone from Vodacom in South Africa. Strange but true :victory:

A little help about TA backup..

Guys need your help about this matter, I just bought my xperia z1 a week ago and i already rooted it... So my question is can i still back up my TA? I did not tamper my bootloader..how will i know if my bootloader is unlocked?
My process in rooting my xperia z1 is:
1st I downgrade my xperia z1 in 14.1.G.1.534 firmware and rooted it using vroot then upgrade it to the latest firmware which is 14.1.G.2.257... BTW I uninstall the vroot superuser because it's in chinese language and I can't understand it, but I replaced it Superuser in playstore and it works fine!...Thanks~

unless u visited the bootloader unlock website and requested for a key which involved keying in your imei number and then using fastboot to unlock bootloader, it's fine...
u can verify by checking if bravie engine works... or dial *#*#7378423#*#* and going to service info > config > rooting status

No, it means you are allowed to unlock it, but you have not done it yet otherwise it would say
bootloader unlocked: yes

trust me, you cannot accidentally unlock it...
Hahaha chewdaniel says to look at sevices menu if it's unlocked and i saw the word "yes" i thought i accidentally unlock it when performing to root it..i feel nervous when i saw it haha!

1. visit bootloader unlock website
2. key in your imei number
3. receive an email with unlock code
4. FINDING & INSTALLING FASTBOOT DRIVERS, while phone is in Fastboot state
5. entering bootloader unlock command with a very long and complicated unlock code
so yea... like Greg said... there's no way u can "accidentally unlock" it

This have nothing to do with Unlocking Bootloader. Unlock Butloader now and you will be fine, with 4.3 the camera was fixed.
but on the info about bootloader unlocking it says not to proceed if bootloader unlock is no in service menu i dont wish to end with a brick

Have you tried unlocking? When this has happened on Xperia T's the devices were still able to be unlocked even though that had changed. There is absolutely no risk in trying to unlock an unlockable bootloader, it will just fail in the process and will still boot no problem.
It has never been reported a NO had turned to YES, but some Yes had been turned to NO, and they were still bale to be unlocked.
And before anyone gets excited this is by no means something that can be used to unlocked bootloaders that are really locked, it is just a false reading of the boot status.

Ok, so it's risky. Is not a big problem even if you don't unlock the bootloader but are you sure was saying yes before? this is wired.
You can flash updates and custom roms anyway. Not custom kernels. Sorry.
ok i am going to try to bootloader unlock it and report back
remote command not allowed i am stuck with a phone that i cannot bootloader unlock hope there will be an s-off solution for xperia

[Q] simple but very important question about locked and unlocked bootloader

I've recently bought a used xperia z but I'm not sure if the bootloader is locked or unlocked.
So my questions are:
1)How do I check this?
2)If the bootloader is locked does this guarantee me that the (stock) rom has not been "modified" previously?
My concerns at security related.

type *#*#7378423#*#* in the phone dialer
then service info>configuration>rooting status
we will have locked bootloader when we bought it
and no bootloader can be unlocked & relocked so don't know,or you can check if the BRAVIA Engine works on Sony Album app or not

According to this link you can but not entirely sure since I've never done it before..
If this if not the case, could you explain to me a little bit more?
It's possible to unlock and relock the bootloader without leaving any trace that it was done. You can check if it's currently unlocked by looking in the service menu. Enter *#*#7378423#*#* in the dialler, then look in Service info - Configuration.
If you're worried just repair the phone with SUS or the PC Companion. This will completely wipe the phone and reinstall the software from scratch, therefore ensuring that nothing is tampered with.
