How to replace my HTC One front speaker cover?

Hi I hit my phone and it has damage on the white part of the phone and on the speakers cover on the front. I ordered the replacement for the cover, but I have no idea how can I replace it without damaging my phone. Please help if possible.

Apparently the top speaker cover is screwed in. The bottom one can pop off, but I've read that it can be very difficult.
Probably unlikely you can remove the covers without damaging the phone.

Ohh to bad, I thought both were jus pasted....then it seems i am pretty screwed .......I really hate to have my phone damaged

I know that the bottom speaker grill is glued in and can be removed with caution, but I am not sure about the top one, to be honest.

I think the speakers cover, white plastic and aluminum back body are all glued together in one piece so it would be very hard (if not impossible) to replace any of those separately.

I'm confused. From my understanding, the speakers are part of the unibody design. You cannot remove it unless you're removing the entire body. Look at the following image:

Thanks for all the answers. I still do not have clear if the top speaker grill is glued or screwed, on the video it seems to be already out but on side is always attached to the phone so I am not sure.

I damaged mine today too :crying: Where did you get a replacement grille from?? I looked on a well known auction site but didn't find one.

I am not really sure, one side of the grill seems to be always connected to the phone while the othe isn't

help me..... same thing happened to me.... i hit my phone but my bottom speaker cover half came out and half stuck can anyone tell me what to do

S-Pen WAAAAAAY too sensitive to write properly

Hello all.
I've looked through as many threads as I can on this, but I don't see any answers to the specific issue I have regarding my S Pen.
Basically, my pen is so darned sensitive that when I print and lift up the pen to go to the next letter, it leaves a trailing mark. I'm no longer touching the screen, but it is still writing. It looks awful. I'm trying to sign some documents and it looks more like a Kindergartner has been trying to sign something than an adult.
I have changed the nib out with two different tips (gray and white) to no avail.
Any help or tips would be very appreciated. Thanks!

there could be several solutions
1) try to write with another stylus ,your stylus could be defected
2) see if the nib of stylus is loose, try to fix it
3) try removing the nib of stylus (if its possible) , and then try bringing the pen near the screen & see what happens
4) and finally restart the mobile

had the same problem a few day back, i really founded it too awsum , but after restarting the device all was normal

Very nice of you to reply. I should have stated that this has been going on for a while, so I've restarted many times. I've also changed out the nibs with two different tips and that hasn't worked. Appreciate your help!

have u tried writing with someone else stylus (like note 's 4 s-pen)...??

Unfortunately, no. I don't have another stylus. I went into the TMobile store to see if I could use their display model's stylus. Believe it or not, they didn't have one in the store! They remove them from all the units since they get stolen so much. CRAZY!

I have this same problem. I've tried the above, settings are fine and I've tried 3 other pens and they work fine. It's just mine. I'm super irritated that there's no solution. I can't write with this thing.

Oddly enough.
I've had my Note 5 since the first few weeks it hit the shelf and I've been through a bunch of them and it has done that to me. I don't recommend doing this but if you throw the pen on the clicker side on to your carpet that has stopped the over sensitive clicking. It sounds worse then it is but if you do it a few times like I have you it only takes one throw oddly enough someone has let me know about it. But if you get a new one get a OEM one off amazon for $20 cause you get what you paid for and tried the cheap ones and just threw them in the garbage where they should have been shipped to in the first place. Haha

touch sensitivity with gloves

this make no sense,note 4 had it and note 8 doesnt,im from nyc,and its cold im on gloves and this feature didnt need to be taken out

different type of touch sensor. note4 was pressure sensitive i believe(i COULD be wrong here). N8 isnt.

The note 8 is capacitive not resistive. And I would certainly hope so for $1000

So if note 8 isn't pressure sensitive then how does the press harder on home onscreen button work ?
I was under the impression that it was pressure sensitive.

You are right. My wording was wrong. As another user pointed out. resistive vs capacative

and used to be able to use a pencil on screen....cmon Samsung

There is a pressure sensor only where the home button used to be. Not the entire screen. The touch tech is still capacitive.

Exactly, I was using mine with the little touch sensitive gloves a week or so ago. The setting is gone, because I think it just picks them up automatically. But you have to use the specific gloves (I am not sure honestly what makes them different).

What exactly is hard to understand about capacitive technology? It has nothing to do with pressure. Therefore there is no function to enable. I am surprised that anybody nowadays would buy a flagship and think they even still use resistive. If you didnt understand the tech you where buying, thats your own problem. You cant fault Samsung.

Yeah the folks that think the screen is resistive are talking out the side of their necks.
The pressure sensitivity of the home button is localized to that location. If you don't believe it check the diagnostic test screen, it has a pressure test and the only part of the screen where it registers is the home button.
The only other pressure is from the pen to the Wacom digitizer..

Well, I think that the OP is talking about a feature that past galaxy notes had, there was a setting to increase screen sensitivity for very cold or wet situations, but now, I think that the tech evolved in a way that such setting is unnecesary now

I think the reason why they removed it is not perfect. You know samsung... If they can't perfect it then they just remove it. The feature is a part of the floating touch technology of capacitive touch screens. But the problem is it fails most of the time when used.

all I said is a pencil used to work with the screen. just did it once..... handy though if you lose pen... and waiting on new one...

iris scanner doesn't work through shades

My note 7 always worked when I was wearing my prescription sunglasses but not at all with my note 8. whats up with this?

Doesn't work with my regular glasses either...I think it's due to the coatings, anti-glare, computer, etc...its a bummer.

I think there's a software glitch or something. I rescanned my irisis and it was unlocking fine with my regular glasses on... But as soon as I turned on the setting where you don't have to swipe the screen for it to scan your eyes well it quit detecting my eyes with glasses on.

Mine works fine through seeing glasses, contacts, polarized shades.
Try setting your iris unlock up in the dark.

Well this makes me wonder if there's something wrong with my iris scanner.

Hmm. Well I made my room totally dark and now it's suddenly working with both my regular glasses and prescription sunglasses...

Check the infra-red LED on the front.
Turn lights off, get another phone with a camera, start camera, point camera at top of Note 8, see if there is a blue (infra-red light) from the top of the phone. Look through the other phones screen obviously.

You're trying to do something you're not supposed to be able to do, or are advised not to do, and wondering if something is wrong with your phone because it actually isn't doing It? ?

No not getting any light.. Only getting red light during dark when trying to unlock.. Nothing else

anyone got clear view case.......
I'm trying to figure out where the magnets are placed and the chip..
if you feel the case material you can feel the magnets and where the chip is
Reason is i bought note 20 clear view instead of note20 ultra case. so i was going to put sensors in my present case so it switch off when i close
picture would be helpful

there should be an indentation of where the magnet is from what I remember. It's really thin on the bottom left of the flap. I believe all versions since they introduced that line.

They're located just below the indention (and to the left) for the fingerprint sensor on the cover flap.

nearly there
on the back cover there's more magnets
the magnets are probably easiest to find.....but the chip the hardest since it's not magnetised and hardest to feel...
the picture shows what i have
1.magnet for front as you point out
what's left for back cover is
small round magnet
a chip
and larger flat metal piece

The chip is NFC. It'll tell the phone that you are using that particular case and give you a notification to download themes based on the color of the case. It should be close enough to rear but not block/interfere the NFC antenna after the initial read.
Try and turn on your NFC and tap it.

I have that case for my Note 20 Ultra, Note 10+, and S20 Ultra. I've never gotten any type of notification acknowledging the case. And NFC is on

You never got the congratulations on your new case. Here are a few themes to match or something along those lines? I've gotten that for every flip cover case I have ever gotten for my Samsung devices.

if you have that case could you possibly check the case for those sensors on the back portion...a magnet should pick-up 2 of them that should get me most of what i want
and the chip is a bit harder but can be felt at back... but if i have have 2 i can find where the chip goes myself

It only shows up when the case is connected after the first time. May be market specific too.

I'm sure you can see the outline of the chip at the bottom. There's a smaller magnet underneath the magnet shown.
