I got a phone for a deal from a friend today in hopes to unlock it to use with my Cricket Sim card. Well i am new to all of this but notice its running Android 6.0 or ZVB and see its a Death Trap.... ????
Does this mean the phone is not able to be rooted and Carrier unlocked since its ZVB ?
please help guys
Unfortunately there is an anti roll back mechanism in ZVB, meaning you will not be able to go back to ZVA, ZV9 nor ZV6 which is the version I know it can be rooted. You may find more information here. Now Sprint can unlock it for free, you just need an account with them (cell number) and they gladly help you at no expenses.
I called Sprintbonce i read about the ZVB junk and they required a security pin
Do you kniw if it must be a Sprint customer to get help withbit or has to be the recent user ?

Yes, you will of course need the original owner, which if you did buy it from a friend, should be nbd.
You can use basic flasher/dfs to get the spc and unlock.

I flashed mellow mallow rom as i was in zvb already from OTA. I turned on airplane mode after i turned it off radio didnt turn on anymore. Tried alot of things still nothing. Sprint lock phone info so i cant turn manually. It also says unable to control device radio. So i flashed global MM and now it does not ask for my pin. I thought maybe i can use some tool or a comand to force turn it on. Maybe its sprint blocking my phone even thought ESN check online seems clear. any idea ?
TOT back to Sprint ZVB factory firmware?

I have tried resetting my phone couple of times and tried Motorola Device Manager too but no luck. I don't know whether I have XT1049 or XT1058 because I got this phone from a friend, he just gave it away and I am not living in a country where I can get Motorola Support. I thought I had XT1049, I contacted Republic Wireless, they checked my IMEI number and told me that it's not their phone, I contacted Motorola's online support they told me by looking at the IMEI number it's XT1058 AT&T phone but when I connect my phone to my computer it says "XT1049 is connected to the computer" and in pictures "details" I can see that the picture is taken by XT1049, I am so confused. Your device belongs with ACG Regional Carriers. It is currently at 4.4.2 only. You can see your model in the lower area of your back panel..
Check out moto site for your device. Your "System Version" in the screen shot is "161.44.38.ghost_row.ACGLTE.en.US". Check out...

lol u are lucky because we AT&T users updated to 4.4.4 and now stucked :::: cant root or unlock bootloader and sunshine is only working till 4.4.2 so be happy and unlock it root it and enjoy any custom rom
Thanks for the help
Now I know that I have "ACG Regional Services" phone, any idea about me getting updates in future or is there another easy option to get the 4.4.4 or 5.0.2 update?

OTA updates are really up to your carrier and/or Motorola. You will seen no updates, until THEY make them available.
When the bootloader is locked, you can only flash official roms (or parts like recovery) for your model/carrier, which are digitally signed by Motorola. Attempts to flash anything else, will fail.

As for unlocking the bootloader, and/or rooting.. see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/mot...w-root-moto-x-confusion-t2826159/post54671918
Why would you want to unlocked the bootload? So you could flash either a totally custom rom, or a rom meant for another carrier/model 2013 X which might be newer. (like some ATT XT1058 users like to flash Rogers XT1058 rom to get rid of the ATT bloat).
I really know nothing about the "ACG Regional Carriers" variant of the Moto X. I'm not sure if it might be the same hardware as another variant, only with a different ROM flashed on it. So I don't know if its safe to flash another carrier's ROM on it. But with an unlocked bootloader, you can try 3rd party roms like CM11 or CM12.
Unlock the BL and flash custom ROMs
You may want to edit your post and remove your imei number. It can be hijacked and leave you with a non functioning device. (no calls or texts or data anyway.)

Hello concerned,
I've got LG G4 H11 10n running Lollipop from T-Mobile. My cousin sent me as a gift.
I got it with some google account already entered. So being fair I did factory reset of phone to set the phone on my google account. I never knew i had to remember the google account and unfortunately neither me and my cousin remembers which google account it was previously using.
So,
Problem 1:
I need to get through "The device was reset. Enter the google account that was previously synced." and use my own account instead of the previous as i do not know it and was not mine anyway.
Moving further to my other major problem.
Problem 2:
I got this phone Sim Locked and i want to Unlock my Sim card. As I am not in the United States.
I don't want to buy codes from websites. Neither I was able to use Device Unlock App from T-Mo for Temporary/Permanent unlock.
I am much interested to unlock my phone via development. I've searched too many posts but found out that Rooting or Flashing of Stock ROM won't unlock it either.
Summary:
First of all i need help to set up my own google account then I need to unlock it for my carrier.
Any help regarding these matters will be highly obliged. Kindly refer any post that solves my problems if anyone knows.

I'm not entirely sure, but I believe flashing a global Rom port will work?
I've got MM update. If I update my phone will it resolve sim unlock issue?
If not, refer a stable Global ROM port. Because I searched a Global ROM port which was only for H811 10h as my phone is H811 10n. And the Dev. warned not to flash it on 10n or else my device will be bricked. Need help.

The marshmallow update 20i will not fix the sim unlock. You need a port from the h815.
Rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/development/h815-genisys-rom-1-0-classic-v10g-t3192649
I had best success with 3.4 genysis
Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/orig-development/kernel-t3213145
Use the latest 1.7 version.
Thanks for your support so far Vseprz.

That is okay if you want a complete stock build. Otherwise genysis has many nice qol tweaks and updates already done for you.
I believe i heard that the sim unlock that is built in to the 20i update actually works as opposed to the useless versions in older updates if that helps you

My friend Vseprz just said above:

I can't try unless I am sure what I am doing.
Okay so i have read a few thread posts but all this seems a bit too confusing. Here is the situation. I bought a used S6-G920T which is unlocked as of now, i don't know what method was used to unlock it since i bought it pre unlocked. My sim(Non T-Mobile) is working fine. I am on 5.1.1- BASEBAND: G920TUVU3DOJ7, what i want to do is update to marshmallow, the official OTA isn't really available as it says the system was tampered with. I want to know if it is safe to update to 6.0.1 via odin without losing my unlock. Thanks in advance to anyone who bothered to read through.
BTW as of now i don't have root access.
What do you mean when you say you're unlocked?
You can use Odin to update the phone to newer baseband and bootloader; you can then use Odin to flash TWRP, and install the ROM of your choice.

I'm pretty sure the phone unlock has something to do with the IMEI of the phone being tied to the carrier. If it is unlocked, you should be able to use it on any carrier. It sounds like the process takes place in a special partition that is at the lower levels, like the bootloader, and does not change regardless of what software is used on the phone. I'd say just go for it and update, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work, even after an Odin flash.

Yes, I've tried that method it, it still won't allow me to enter the bootloader. I've tried to enter recovery mode as well but i can't either.
It seems very strange. Its like it's locked in some way.

It's definitely a h811, it says it on the back of the phone, underneath the cover.
But I did buy it unlocked so I could use my sim card.
Maybe that is the reason, but I really don't know.?

Why don't I see anyone talking about V40 Verizon, I have one, firmware V405UA20f and it doesn't have fastboot, can't enable oem unlock in deverlop setting. It's like using an iPhone lock. So what should I do if I want to root it and install a new rom?

I've been a longtime rooter of cell phones, ever since the LG Ally. This particular phone doesn't seem to beg to be rooted, in my honest opinion. There is so much that can be done without rooting, and it also affords one to backup the phone on the external SD card. I can quite happily live with the phone as is in stock form.

I never get US Carrier phones because they hate root and will try anyway to try disable or remove something so you cant do it, because they want you to use as is and they sucks with optimizations for new OS and slows down phone. This is why I get the US Unlocked model when LG releases it but sadly the V50 did not get a US Unlocked so Ill get the V60 if it does.

Theres an international unlocked and an US unlocked model. You can tell by going into about phone and looking what model you have. Your phone was probably sim unlocked if it has verizon apps as an pre installed app. The international unlocked V40 variant should be V405EBW and the US unlocked variant is the V405QA7
