[RECOVERY] TWRP 2.8.7.x for Kirin variant

Be sure You have unlocked Your bootloader before.
I don't have this variant of P8, it was already tested but still please report any issues and I'll try to fix them.
Remember it's for Kirin version only.
INSTALLATION:
Just flash it via Fastboot and You should be fine. There's also a possibility to flash it via 'dd' in adb shell, it works too.

Update: The version for Kirin has been tested and it works, so You can flash it and test more without being afraid that You would break anything Meanwhile I'm still waiting for the report from Qcom variant user.
Kirin version is okay, but Qcom version made issues so I won't release it.

OP has rectified the issue.
So thread cleaned and lets stick to development talk now. :good:

Thanks alot for the Recovery. I got my phone today and have in the mean time asked Huawei to release the kernel source for ALE-21/23 and they have replyed to me. Here are the kernel sources: http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=hwdownload&mod=detail&mid=103. As soon as I have time I will look into building a custom rom for the P8 Lite

By the way, I was said that there are some issues with making a backup to external storage, could someone confirm it?

Well the custom kernel is already running with almost rverything except wifi

Well i hope so its the only thing left that doesnt work it seems the sys device is not loading correctly. I will continue looking into it and let u know once it works.

Found this device tree on github if it helps and it seems to be updated for CM 14 as far as I can tell: https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_device_samsung_klte/tree/cm-14.0
Im gonna be taking a shot at this once I get linux installed on my machine as well, mainly just to gain some experience. hope this helps!

I read about your plans and I am thinking: if you want do do a group of users here a huge, and than I mean really H U G E favor...
Try get cm14 to work on the SM-G901F (Samsung s5 plus) to work.
I am not a programmer and I don't know why there are so little ROM'S for this variant of the S5 but... CM14 would be awesome.
I mean so far no one has been able to get like cm13 to work without bogus on this model.
Getting CM 14 to work would mean thus phone could last at least 2 more years!
Besides that CM versions are stable and just the looks/feels&touch makes anyone with any phone leave the stockrom won't they [emoji6]

Need to make a mt6735 rom for my device and would like to know what files I need to copy to CM rom from my stock rom. A how to would be nice. I made twrp and cwm but did not get a working cm rom. Need instructions

Great, btw my language (french) doesn't seem to be fully implemented. I have french for apps, but system wide it's in English. Is there something I can do to fix it? On your CM14 it was working fine.

It's not up to me, if the developers fix, they will fix soon, then I will do

I also ported a Rom from Meizu to a Odys device (German manufacturer) with some problems. My mobile data does not work. My sim card is not recognized. Did you also confront with such issues?
It makes me angry and I have to search for libs, I guess. Do you have any hints for me?

love this rom but what superuser zip do we use to root? I have tried the beta-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503 and it installs ok in twrp but when the phone reboots it doesn't not recognize any root....
also for others, twrp 3.0.0.0 by megthebest must be used to flash this

Yea its safe dude, running it at the moment! I ended using SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3-20170114223742.zip and it works well! I did have issies with the gapps mentioned in the OP but I downloaded the latest and it's fine, search open Gapps

Not a real Oreo (no treble support and such).
It uses Nougat blobs on Oreo skin.

Update: fingerprint is fixed

Well - It actually is REAL Oreo and we use some Oreo Blobs from P Smart Firmware... But still WIP and not daily driver ready.

It is a fake oreo with nougat blobs as I said on the beginning. And the project is abandoned because Mr.Meticulus went smart again

It isn't even based on N blobs at all. It's a mixture of N blobs with some O blobs extracted from EMUI 8 since they are needed to fix up stuff.. But this still doesn't mean it's fake? What da hell you thinking about?

What happened to the link? Its not working.

ROM Installation, noobie question.

So i installed Xiaomi.eu and upon second inspection it turned out to be a less stable beta instead of the most stable 10.3.15.
So i just flashed the stable ROM over the previous one.
So do i now have two ROM's or is it just like an "update".
For reference my System takes up 13.5 GB.

If you flash a new ROM it's my understanding it writes over the previously installed software, as you only have one system partition you'll only have one ROM installed on your phone. Not sure about the size of the this system partition tho as I haven't got mine yet.
