Greetings.
I would like to achieve s-off on my FreedomPop HTC Desire 510.
I want to free up some bloatware, have the ability to tinker, and remove the tamper banner.
I know it won't free up much, but, it will free up enough to allow me to install the things I want, and, to make it so I can move other things to the SD card, which will not move because an earlier version is bloat installed.
Thank you for your help, any info I need to provide I will, just ask, and inform me where to obtain the info
I am not an expert dev on the platform, but, I know enough to use s-off responsibly.
No custom roms are far enough in development for me to make a leap.
Phone is rooted.
Thanks
Getting Started
Where do I even begin to get a stock kernel s-off?
I am considering doing this as a project. I have no source code, so, no clue where to start.
The only thing I can think of, is the HTC Desire 510 for freedompop is an 0PCV1 model.
It also uses the sprint network. As freedompop is an MNVO.
So, possibly the s-off sprint/boost kernel would work?
My best guess is to try Sunshine. $25 so isnt free. But claism to be able to s-off the 510. Not sure about Freedompop.
I just got my 510 on freedompop for my kid. So wanting to modify it heavily.
I used Sunshine to s-off my virgin mobile 510

Can anyone help me? I need hboot 1.93.0002 instead I have 1.93.2222. My s-off is not working.
I have:
juopunut bear
holiday pvt ship s-off rl
hbooy 1.93.2222
microp 0360
openadsp v02.6.0.2226.00.0202
emmc-boot
I am not sure i understand.. The hboot your using is a modified one they include. hence the higher version number then stock.
It has some extra commands unlocked which arent included with .0002
Why is it your looking for the stock hboot?
I am trying to unlock for simple mobile sim. I have s-off with supercid but still locked?
I have flashed back to 1.85.2525
Should I stay on the 1.92.2222 or 1.85?
1. This shouldn't be in the development thread
2. Wasn't your question answered in the Dark Raider rom thread?
3. Hboot has nothing to deal with having sim-unlock, you need to either buy a code or call your carrier to unlock it for you
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
isnt s-off to unlock for any carrier? I have done this before and it worked on an inspire.
S-Off means security off. It means that the NAND is "UNLOCKED", which means you can flash an engineered HBOOT. There is actually no solutions to sim unlock the Vivid without buying an unlock code.
Sent from my HTC Raider 4G LTE running ICS.
If there is a way for any dev to reverse engineer a sim unlock I can dump whatever files they need. I have a rogers raider with s-off and it is sim unlocked via a code I purchased at theunlockr.ca for about $25. Sorry if this isn't possible ..I'm not a dev. Just trying to help.

i know it was possible with the Sensation by playing around with the /dev/block/ part of the phone. maybe it is achiveable with the raider

You know you can just use a straight talk at&t sim card and you won't have to unlock your phone and you will also get 3G speeds instead of only Edge and it's only $45 a month.
Simple Mobile is an MVNO that runs on the T-Mobile network so the phone (SIM) needs to be unlocked. Try HTCIMEIUNLOCK.com. It will be about $25. If you want the ATT network try Red Pocket or H2O Mobile, same pricing.
I bought the unlock code from eBay and cost only $3.99. Check this link

Hello,
before you get angry on me i read all of the guids but im a little bit confused and because my device isnt at&t or spirnt im afraid that the guides i read arent the right one for me
Ok, so my device is the htc one 801e, i bought it from the official Importer of htc in my country (i dont have any offical htc in my country, so this is the htc for me. they also have their own CID K_18)
my hboot version is 1.54, my android version came out of the box as 4.2.2 and my software version is 2.24.401.1. (the device is S-ON)
I really want to root my device and install new roms (im not a total noob, just in htc :silly but i didnt understand if their is a way to me (since i understand that there isn't way to do s-off with 1.54 hboot) to root my device without my warranty to get hurt (i pay higer price just to have the offical warranty of htc in my country)
so please help me understand what can i do, withot losing my warranty.
THANKES FOR EVERYONE WHO HELP!:laugh:
No, you will have the status as relocked then.... Warranty would be void.... S off not possible as you know it...
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
so there isnt any soultuion for right now?
and if there would be an s-off, i can root my device and then return it to the beginning and the warranty wouldn't be void?
just one more thing, an s-off that i can use with my device is somthing that someone working on that? or that is just a dream?
thankes for the help so far
The procedure to s-off is an exploit. It was patched in the new hboot. The devs are trying to find a way to s-off 1.54, but no one knows when they'll find it, if they ever do. Its not something as simple as say, unlocking a bootloader.
You can still root, and flash custom Roms, but you have to unlock the bootloader via HTCDev. Afterwards your bootloader will have a tampered flag, that can not be removed without s-off. It does not instantly void your warranty, but HTC could deny any warranty claims they deem software related.
So, unlock and risk losing your warranty.
Or, wait patiently for the wonderful devs to cook up a new exploit.
AT&T HTC One
Baadnewz's InsertCoin 3.0-14
Flar2's Bulletproof 4.3
Thanks a lot!
Now i finally understand the whole s-off idea, but for now i think i will wait a few months and let the devs to ther magic job (hopefully htc won't release a new hboot, although i understand so far that if i first do an s-off and then upgrade my hboot, i will stil have s -off? )
Hello
Basically I'm attempting to S-OFF my HTC One so I can flash on different stock firmware, namely the GPE firmware. Simply put I can't seem to find a straight answer on how to achieve S-OFF on my HBOOT version. I've tried both Firewater and Rumrunner with no success. I attempted both on CM11 and an un-official CM12 ROM with zero success, all I get are messages telling me to switch my phone off and start again.
What is the most successful method to achieve S-OFF on the given HBOOT? Should I be using another ROM perhaps?

Hi friend, my hboot is 1.57 and i have the latest firmware which is 6.09.401.11 .
For making s-off with ARHD +Bulletproof combination, do i have to downgrade my firmware or hboot or will it work directly ?
thanks

Well Firewater has been discontinued so that's of little use, any other known methods/combinations?
Discontinued yes but it still works for some people. If it doesn't then go sunshine. It will cost you $25 but it will do compatibility tests first to see if it works

Can't see how it can work as it relies on some remote content. Any attempt to use it is hanging on the very first steps of initialization.
Regarding Sunshine I find so shocking to read everyone advising to go for it. $25 to get 100% access to our phone, that is just so ridiculous. And even if it's guaranteed.

Well it depends on the urgency. Some need quick s-off to return device to stock for warranty, and that's cool I guess. Its worth it then. I on the other hand like some others need s-off to maybe convert to GPe to try out lollipop. However seeing as its only a matter of short time until its released for stock sense devices, the wait isnt bad at all...
Well it's currently easily the cheapest way to s off. You can take it to a shop that uses a java card and pay more. HTC like to lock their phones down good. Which for the average user is a good thing. Has lots of safeguards

If you find it so shocking then blame HTC, and other OEM's because is their fault that our devices are locked. This guy's found a vulnerability in these devices and with hard work, money invested and free time lost they put up this amazing tool that help us.
If you work for something and invest money and time in that then you would give it for free?
I say thanks to them because at least even if is paid EXISTS. They could renounce to develop S-off and then we won't have to blame them that they sell us freedom for our devices.

I am usually part of those who support devs for their good work by donating. But 25$ is for me way to much for supporting such a hack. I am not saying their work is not good, it looks quiet nice in fact. If they would make their first price around 5$ and still opened to donations it would be much more reasonable. But hey, that's just my opinion.
On a side note I totally agree with you on the HTC responsibility in that, they totally suck and I think it's the last time I go for their devices. This S-OFF thing is so much giving me the feeling I don't own the device I paid for... (not to mention I have a barely usable camera)
Yes, I agree. I would be happy to pay if it were something along the lines of $5-10, but $25 is a bit too much for myself.
Firewater doesn't work anymore for me either, makes sense given that it relies on some content stored on their servers.
I'm about to S-OFF my m8 and turn it into a GPE device. Before I do that I was to make sure I know how to get back to s-on and stock I can't find any instructions online for my device anyone can give me some advice on this before I spend my $25 for sunshine.

DO NOT UPDATE TO GPE BEFORE YOU S-OFF
As someone who recently started playing with his HTC One (m8) in hopes of international use, I had hoped to save $25 dollars and not S-off until I needed to.
YOU NEED TO S-OFF FIRST.
There is no way to S-Off with Lollipop installed, and you will have to get back to stock before you can S-off.
All of these guides are now outdated because of Lollipop and Firewater is nonexistent at this point in time.
And almost every way you attempt to revert to a stock image that Sunshine will actually run on will surprisingly be met with errors and issues. I am in the process of going through some of these hiccups myself, and am hoping I can help others with some of the ones I have ran into.
I unlocked through HTC Dev, Got Sprint to SIM unlock for me, and installed GPE 5.0.1...........Turns out the radio still doesn't work and any and all other mods will require you to S-OFF, but you can no longer S-Off because you have updated your phone.
EVERY GUIDE SHOULD HAVE THIS INFORMATION, at least until a new Sunshine comes out. Save yourself a **** ton of trouble and S-off right away. I wish there were newer guides that told me this.

Thanks for the help yea I can't get sunshine to work at all and I figured it was because of lollipop. Hopefully I can get a cm ROM running on my phone to pass the time as its been impossible so far.

Everytime i try flashing any CM12 rom in TWRP i get failed message in a second. Every other rom like GPE or Viper flash fine its just the CM12 roms.
Since, I've been running a Nexus for the last 2 yrs, or so, I need a li'l help. Coming from a rooted stock Nexus 5 on 6.0.1, and well familiar with Nexus 5 bootloader unlocking, rooting, etc... I could use some friendly directions to VZW M7 equivalents - bootloader unlocking (which I've seen VZW disabled the HTC method), SuperSU, and S-OFF & SuperCID (which I'm not familiar with). I was excited to see that the M7 could be converted to a GPe. But, only to find it only applicable to GSM versions. Any help would be greatly - NO !! HUGELY appreciated.
Thanks!

Well unfortunately, like you already know, Verzion asked HTC to block bootloader unlock which make this M7 variant the most painful to play with. You'll definitively need S-OFF if you want to do anything. Normally the first steps for achieving S-OFF is to unlock the bootloader and root the phone....But because of the Verizon restrictions its a little more complicated. You'll need to achieve temp-root so you can use Sunshine S-OFF to unlock and S-OFF your bootloader. Once done you'll be free to do whatever you want (flash custom recovery, flash supersu to gain permanent root, rom, kernel ect...).
I don't see any real benefit having SuperCID on a Verizon M7..... SuperCID is only useful to bypass the CID check when flashing a RUU or a Firmware but on a Verizon M7, you can only flash Verizon's RUU and Firmware which all have the same VZW__001 CID. SuperCID is useful on other variants like the M7_UL and M7_U since there is a lot of RUU with different CID that can be flashed on these variants. Anyway, won't hurt your phone if you absolutely want it and it only takes 2 sec once you have s-off.
You're right when saying that you can only convert a GSM M7 to GPE. When speaking about conversion it mean everything: the firmware and software(rom). But you can still enjoy GPE on a Verizon M7 by simply flashing a custom rom instead of doing the whole conversion.

oh and the M7 reached its EOL so don't expect a 6.0+ version. If you really want android 6 you'll need to use Cyanogenmod13 (not sure if its available for Verizon)
