Compatibility with external microphone? - Nexus 5X Accessories

I'm planning to buy Sony STM10 external microphone and I see a lot of comments with problems with the not-so-old Nexus 5. Anyone has this external microphone and can confirm if it works? Anyone has another similar external microphone? I want to use it to record live shows

I answer myself. It works but not with Google's Camera app. However Cinema FV-5 works flawlessly

How did you flip the flipped image? All 3rd party apps have this issue.

I flipped later on my computer or via YouTube

That Sony STM10 has got five pins. The Nexus 5X takes a 5-pin jack instead of a 4-pin jack?
Edit: I have a LG Nexus 5X

external microphone not working

Hello,
I'm a Huawei P9 owner (unbranded, EVA-L09C432B182).
I tried to connect and record a video with an external microphone connected to jack plug but audio is anyway took by built-in microphone.
Headphone icon appear when I connect the external mic, so, I suppose, P9 does not recognize the external mic.
I had got a Xperia Z3 compact that suddenly recognized it once I plug it.
Did anyone try to use an external mic with Huawei P9?
Thanks and regards!
would like to know it too. please kindly help
Ok guys I will test it for you since I have a Sony earphones with inline mic. Give me a second.
So I did some testing and found out that the in-line mic which is on my earphones is used in the voice recording app.
So I can say at least the phone recognises that I am using earphones that has an in-line mic which confirms that it supports and recognises 4 port (if that's the correct term) 3.5mm jacks with in-line mic and volume control.
I will try recording a video with the earphones plugged in a second.
Done testing with the camera app recording a video with microphone. I can confirm that it does not use the in-line microphone and looks like it is setup to not use it when recording videos in the camera app with back camera at least. Have not tested front camera video recording though.
Same problem. More info
Have you found an answer? I have the exact same problem. I tried using SoundAbout app but it doesn't seem to work. Don't know if I'm setting it up wrong or if it just doesn't have enough permissions to manage the Camera app. Other Camera apps are out of the questions because of the dual cameras, so they only use the monochrome.

Huawei P9 external mic issue
Hi Guys,
I just bought a Rode VideoMic Me and wanted to connect it to my phone but its not detected by the phone. After ran a few of test, the mic is not the problem. The root cause for this issue is the software or OS itself. When I pluged the mic, the device will keep select the build in mic as a default. I tried to install and test 2 apps that similar to FilMic Pro (iphone app).
Cinema FV-5
This app really good for videography and the external mic is working but the camera will detect the monochrome lens instead of the RGB lens. How sad.
FilMic Plus
This is a free version of FilMic pro but its doesnt enable the external mic function.
FilMic Pro
This app available for certain android phone only. How sad.
The conclusion that can I make is, to enable the external mic, we need to install 3rd party app which is im still looking for it. Huawei should do something about this.
No external microphone connection with Huawei P10 & P10 Plus
Same pb with both new Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus.
Impossible to connect an external microphone working in video mode (but, surprisingly, it can record sound with the sound app).
Samsung works 100%. LG does too. Nexus doesn't.
I've contacted Huawei France directly, they answer that they don't sell their own external mic (too bad and stupid!), but they neither guarantee that their own devices work with other mic.
Conclusion: do not buy Huawai P10 or P10 Plus if you plan to get a profesional sound quality provided by an external microphone
Unless meanwhile they take care of the pb, either Huawei (selling adequate mic), either app like Filmic Plus or FV5 solve the problem.

Cinema FV-5 Monochrome fix on Honor 6X
Hi, it is a simple fix to change Cinema FV-5 monochrome issue. Go into the setting for the video in the app and change the saturation setting to 100%. Done, you can record with colour!

Huawei y9 prime 2019 microphone and earpiece issue.
Hello guys? I've been using huawei y9 prime 2019 for a year now, it was running on Android 8 then I updated it to 9 then it started having earpiece and microphone problems, I later updated it to 10 but now the problem is now persistent. I've tried different methods like cache clearing, hard resetting, starting in safe mode but the problem only goes away after I restart and then after making one call or two, everything mutes, I can't hear the caller the same to the other end, I put on loudspeaker but I can only hear the other person but they can't hear me. I've ran out of options, anyone who has managed to overcome the problem please help...

This is forum for P9 (device from 2016 with Android 6, 7 and Android 8 released only for Chinese cust), not your y9 (from 2018, newer EMUI/Android firmwares).
Unfortunately, I see that (unlike for the other Huawei/Honor phones), there is no forum on XDA for y9
Not sure how P9 users here can help you.
Besides, there are only three or four still active P9 users here - most the others abandonded the old P9 phones, and rarely anybody comes here, read (and answer) the posts

External Mic W/ Moto Camera

Has anyone tried or been able to get an external 3.5mm microphone to work with the stock camera app? I'm thinking about getting one...
Such as the rode videomic.
https://www.amazon.com/Rode-VideoMic-Directional-Microphone-Phones/dp/B018KIJGU8
DO IIIIT
I think internal mics ar doing great job, anyway.
I've recently got a Moto X4. I've got a 3.5mm external microphone I use on my previous Galaxy S6. I wouldn't work on the Moto X4 in the headphone port. So I then purchased a USB C to 3.5mm adapter. Just tried that and it still wont work. Maybe its the stock camera app that will only use the build in mic.
I've previously tried other camera apps, but you can't use the wide angle camera, so pointless for me.
I'm still stuck as I need an external mic when filming outside using a gimbal.
Did anyone get this to work? Got myself a DEITY v.lav and it's not working. Works on voice recorder but not on the stock camera app. Suggestions? Thank yoU!

Allow 720p/1080p video output developer options won't turn on/turns itself off?

Hi,
I've seen some fairly old information about enabling the "allow 720p video output" option in developer options, resulting in better quality image on certain head units. I wanted to try this out for my Ford Fiesta, but the setting seems to disable itself as soon as I leave the Android Auto app, and even if I enable it and plug straight into the car it seems to have no effect (not sure if head unit doesn't support it, or the app, or both).
I'm using a Nexus 6P. Tried reinstalling the app and it made no difference. Android Auto: 3.1.581054-release
Anyone else had this issue?
I saw this Android Police post https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/...ow-message-previews-hd-graphics-apk-teardown/ - it looks like Google are setting up to make HD projection functionality official, but for the time being I'd really like to play with these options.

Shure your car support 720p resolution?

I'm not sure no, but the app seems to reset the setting all by itself regardless of whether or not I connect it to the car - so like I said, I don't know if it's the app or the head unit.

Maybe your car doesn't support this.
This causes AA to reset this option.
What car?
AA wireless working on your Nexus?
Any wireless settings in AA app ?

Maybe, but that doesn't really make sense since as I mentioned, it being reset is completely independent of whether or not I connect it to my car (happens as soon as I close the app and open it again) and for all the app knows I could easily be connecting it to a different car next which does support it.
It's a Ford Fiesta Mk8 (2017 onwards). The car doesn't support wireless AA. I don't see any mention of it in the app - I think I read that it only launched in the US? I'm in the UK.

Have the same "bug".
I try it with my Galaxy Note 8 (Stock) and Note 3 (Custom ROM). I install crankshaft on my Raspberry Pi and activate 720p and 1080p.
If i activate the suppord for 720 and 1080 it works one time. After i close the AA-App its disabled.
If i plug my phone on again, i see a error, that my phone or "car" is not supported.
The option in Open Auto / CrankShaft is still activated.
I read somewhere that this issue should be fixed in next release of Android Auto.

Just installed 3.2.581534-release and it looks like the issue has been resolved. 720p and 1080p output seem to stay on after killing and relaunching the app. I'll test it in my car tonight but without the car, it works
Enabling the option really makes a big difference in my case. I drive a Skoda Superb 2018 and Waze looks totally pixelated without this option on. I was going to post this question in the forum because I also encountered the issue of disabling the 720p output when closing the app but I'm glad it appears to be fixed now.

Yep it's fixed for me as of an update a couple of weeks ago as the option is sticking, but sadly it looks like my car doesn't support it.

Microphone for video conferencing / zoom -- CCGTV

So with a PD USB hub and a UVC camera, its pretty easy to get video conferencing software (zoom in particular) working on this "chromecast" Android TV dongle. The only problem is that there is no outgoing sound, even if the camera has a microphone. Incoming and outgoing video work perfectly, as does INCOMING audio, but no outgoing audio.
I've considered the possibility that the microphone on the remote is somehow hijacking the whole show, but nothing changes when you "forget" the remote.
Anybody tried this and/or have any pointers? I'm trying specifically for zoom, since that's the platform used by our dojo during this panicdemic.
same. I have tried usb microphone, webcam built in microphone, bluetooth microphone. Nothing. I double checked zoom has permission. All other meeting apps work with the mics i have except zoom. Anyone that has any ideas for me to try let me know.

hm, check and see if there are any additional options in the developer options that might help, activate as usual via repeated tapping on the build number
Any success?
I have been trying to make it work with Logitech c920 but it didn't work.
I was thinking on switching the usb connection type to Audio but this actually crashes the setting app.
Maybe u guys can try to use LesserAudioSwitch by sideloading...

Question Edge 20 Ready For connectivity - webcam

Hello everybody!
Just acquired the Edge 20 and started to play with the "Ready For" feature, which seems to be amazing!
One question though: when using the phone camera as a webcam, google meet doesn't detect the microphone. Is this normal? Is it supposed to use only the video and not the audio?
Thanks a lot!

Effectively you will not be able to use the phone's microphone unless you use special applications for it. Hopefully Ready For will implement the use of the microphone in the future.
