FAQs
Can I flash sprout4 on an 8GB device? - Yes. I've been using sprout4 ever since I found it about it since it maximizes the use of my External SD card as my files are saved there and the apps are installed on the Internal storage. You can also move some apps on the SD card especially if you have a class 10 card or higher. This is perfect for the gamers who want their apps and OBB files on the External SD card as well as their files such as music/movies.
Can I flash sprout8 on a 4GB device? - Technically, yes. But it is not advisable as the storage is already small enough as it is and it will become shared if you use sprout8 on it. This is perfect for 4GB device users without available External SD cards.
Will I still receive OTAs if I flash sprout4 on 8GB or sprout8 on 4GB? - Yes, but the device will not install it as it depends on the oem.prop and the system think it is not compatible. One workaround is to replace your oem.prop with a 4GB device's (OEM swapping).
Any other way without replacing the OEM? I don't want to change the brand of my phone in the Settings app. - The easiest way is to flash a sprout4 stock ROM, install the latest TWRP recovery with OTA Installer and flash sprout4 OTAs using the OTA Installer. This also applies to sprout8 and rooted users as well (just revert your build.prop to the original one as well as the stock kernel).
When flashing custom ROMs, do I still need to flash the sprout4 stock ROM before flashing a sprout4 custom ROM like CM13, RR, AOSPA, etc? - No. You may flash a sprout4 custom ROM through TWRP even if you're currently on a sprout8 stock ROM. Just remember to wipe the cache/data so that there will be no compatibility issues.
Are the rooting procedures different between sprout4 and sprout8? - No. Rooting procedures stay the same. Flash the latest TWRP recovery through the Android One AIO Tool. Flash the SuperSU inside the AIO tool through TWRP and you're already rooted (systemless). Systemless root means that you do not have to install a custom kernel anymore as the system patches your stock kernel to be able to access root. Systemless root also allows flashing of OTAs as long as the system partition is not modified in any way.

If you're on the latest version of the stock ROM and have trouble accessing your external SD card, try this mod based on information provided by @daorderdillon in one of the other threads around here... It just gives all apps with permissions WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE and ACCESS_ALL_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (which has been changed to actually mean internal storage) full access to the external storage as well.
Only tested on stock 4.4.2 ROM, installed using TWRP.

Confirmed working on stock rooted rom 901s
Thanks
Just a quick note that this mod applies to the 4.10.708.1 version of stock as well.

Update when bro
Hi guys,
I installed official stock rom. I don't know what happened but it enabled me to used internal storage as storage for music, images & other stuff. But I didn't want that. I want it only for storage of apps (as it is in default android one phone sets). So I installed cm13 snapshot again to see it its stock rom problem. But now cm 13 is also showing it as storage for music, images. Please help me if you know the solution!!!

No bro I'm 1000% sure it's sprout4 rom + I downloaded & flashed it twice in a row to make sure it's sprout 4. And earlier cm 14 snapshot was showing it internal only. After I flashed same cm rom it shows internal memory usable.
Edit : finally I got it fixed. Read some Android authority forums. Got a solution.
How to fix it please tell
May sound foolish. But I have never flashed roms from internal storage. All the time I had phones with memory card. This is the first time I will be using a phone without external memory slot (9208-DUOS). My question is,
1- if I put the rom file on internal storage what precaution should I take while wiping from TWRP?
2- does latest twrp supports flashing files from OTG?
Thanks in advance..
When you wipe with twrp the internal storage is untouchable....i have usb otg and flashed many roms with it...

Hi , as the title states . This is my first a/b device. I've read all the info. Flashed twrp and custom rom.
My question is since I don't have an external sd card and I don't own a C style otg usb adaptor ..how to I backup my data
As I understand it from most posts and roms i must format my usetdata partition . . I guess because of encryption
Anyway ...can I just flash a new rom to my inactive slot and boot it and it will just automatically jntergrate what's in my userdata partition or will installation script wipe that even if I don't
I would prefer not using a pc when jumping between builds. I say this cos I read seamless updates and migrating data doesnt work on correctly on android 10 mi a2 custom roms
Any tips or ideas ...ideally I'd just like to flash new rom into inactive slot and reboot to new rom with all my apps and rooted and gapps running but i see this is a dream not a reality ..
So am I gonna have to use a pc to back up my rom ?
Good old Titanium Backup + Google Drive, still does the job
Try checking out Migrate app and see if it suits you
