Hi folks,
my Mate S is rooted and now i got a message that a new update is available. So i download the update and tried to install it. After 7% the update failed.
I am already on stock recovery.
Any ideas what i can do to sucessfull install the update?
Unroot . flash the previous firmware and flash the ota then . then root again

Easier... flash stock recovery, unroot, install ota, flash custom recovery, root
unroot helped cheers mate. the new update sucks btw. Signal strength is extremly worse now.

Starting from stock unrooted OOS 4.1.1 can I install TWRP without layer having to root the device? I read some guides that clearly describe the process of installing the recovery and root the phone but I didn't get if it's possible to just install the TWRP and boot right after

you just need unlocked boot loader to install twrp. rooting your device is optional.
I was on miui 9 and I wiped everything and made data partition EXT4. My intention was to install nitrogen OS , so I installed firmware (OB22) and installed the ROM and gapps. But when i restarted i was boot loop on splash screen. Phone boots up and within 2 seconds reboots again in a loop. I have access to TWRP and bootloader. Please help me to restore my 3T. Your help is much much appreciated.
Flash the latest stock Oos.5.0.1 and check if the problem remains.

Thanks for the help. Booted the device with OB22.
please someone help me! first i flashed twrp 3.2.3-1 and it didn't work and my device booted normally but there was no custom recovery so i tried to flash it again and this time it worked but my device wont boot! i have formatted my phone but still doesn't work. i have a android backup made with adb i dont know if that helps.
My android version: 8.0.0
My OxygenOS version 5.0.6
This is a known bug in TWRP 3.2.3-1, the fix is to downgrade to the working 3.2.3-0 version of TWRP until a working never version of TWRP is released.

i tried to flash magisk v18.0 but it didnt work then i formatted my device again and now it works
I found this https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-9t/how-to/root-k20-indian-rom-v10-3-6-0-twrp-t3958566 regarding rooting the phone by using a patched stock MI recovery, to include Magisk in it, then flashing it into the phone so we have a rooted ROM without installing TWRP.
This guide is for Mi9. Is it applicable to mi9t pro too?
Also I wanna ask how we can relock the bootloader, assuming we are in the stock ROM the phone came with.

First of all it's not a patched Mi Recovery.
This method works with Mi 9T Pro and almost all phones. What you do is just patching the boot.img and flash it. So you don't need to flash TWRP and you are rooted.
IF YOU DO THIS, NEVER LOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER!
To be stock means no patches, just nothing! Fully stock!
To lock your bootloader use MiFlash.
Thanks for the response.
I assume that, if i flash the patched boot file, I must reflash the untouched boot file in order to relock the bootloader?
I just wanna be very carefull with my new phone ...

Yes.
Hello again
All went well.
I unlocked my bootloader
I patched and flashed the boot file
I rooted my phone (eea 10.3.3.0) without TWRP
What happens now with the official OTA updates?
Will my phone be updated normally?
If it will be updated, my root will be gone?

Yes if you update the root will be gone, you'll have to patch the new version's boot image.
