Hi everyone, i'm a physical keyboard diehard fan. I'm using the keyboard case and it's great. However, I'm having issues with the space bar, which sometimes does not get pressed. In fact, it does not work at all with the tempered glass cover (the space bar, the other keys work).
Peeking under the keyboard i realized the on screen keyboard layout below the physical add on has a really tiny space bar.
This seems to be baked into the touchwiz standard theme, the keyboard is not compatible with other themes. Is there any way I can make this on secreen space bar larger so it gets always pressed? Can I add some material right under the space bar so it omproves "touchability"/contact with the screen?
Thanks

I think its becuase of the tempered glass screen protector. Becuase the glass screen protector has no adhesive on the screen area there is an air gap which is why the keyboard case doesn't work properly, it's what happend to me. I took the tempered glass screen protector off and put a normal tpu based screen protector on and the keyboard case work perfectly now, no skips in the keys which I press. Ohh and for the theme issue which you are talking about, that is none existent for me, I have used many themes on my s7 edge and the keyboard case works perfectly with them. The themes do not change the layout of the onscreen keyboard they just make it look different that's all.
Also if your keyboard isn't at its biggest size you can hold the button on your keyboard the one on the right of the symbol button, after holding it for a second or two it should bring up a popup this is where you click the settings button once you have clicked that you should be in the onscreen keyboard setting, scroll down until you find the keyboard size option and from there you can make the keyboard bigger or smaller according to your preference.

Great! thank you so much. let's make this the (weirdos!) keyboard users thread...
1-themes: you cannot DOWNLOAD the themes with the keyboard attached, but you can download them and use them if you doanload them with the cover removed... however, once I apply the theme (material design flat for instance) and attach the keyboard, i get the message:
KEYBOARD COVER ATTACHED. UNABLE TO APPLY DOWNLOADED THEMES WHILE THE KEYBOARD COVER IS ATTACHED. THE DEFAULT THEME WILL BE APPLIED
so no luck for me.
2-i use a tpu but I had to go through a few, some also made it unable to recognize the lower row (space bar) of the keyboard. I will experiment with the tempered glass plus some paper or something to facilitate its use and will report back.
3-sometimes when the phone comes back from sleep with the keyboard attached in enters a kind of multi window loop which I can only stop by briefly removing the keyboard, has that happened to you?
thanks!
g.
I have not had any of the issue you're experiencing other than the tempered glass one where it would not register the keyboards buttons. But other than that I've just tried the material design theme (normal and dark version) and they work fine I don't get no notifications or information toasts telling me that the theme is uncompatible.
Ohh and by the way this is the screen protector I use: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CH5RJT0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_udp_apa_DiADxbW8E784N

My Keyboard cover just arrived from korea and my screen doesn't automatically adjust. It''s off by a row. If I have the Keyboard cover on when I launch the phone I can't access the swipe code to open feature. It's a great idea but can't figure out how to make it work.

Did you change the DPI/resolution in the display settings? That could be the reason why (although using it with different display settings seemed to work on custom ROMs based on the official one).

Hi All,
I hv found out a native way to prevent the sliding problems and the marks caused by the same on the Keypad.
1) As per the instructions on Wiki dissemble your BA
2) Remove the screen, the Speaker and the Buttons(the top 4 extra buttons)
3)Now you have the slider fully exposed. If one looks carefully, then one can noitice tow white coloured plastic locks which are there to lock the slider.
4) Reomve the lock, now the key boad part and the other part on which it slides are seperated.Use a simple transparent insulating Tape and apply on the slider paths.
5) Re Assemble..and here's you have a BA which slides on the smooth inslutaing tape...there by having a nice grip and without creating any sliding marks on it.
I am using this and I am finding it most effective.
I hope, this will help...I rather wonder, howcome HTC forget this part while desigining!!!!!!
Thanks for the tip! And who says that they forgot anything? The ultimate goal for any manufacturer is to get people to buy another unit after a while. If you can use the same unit for several years, they don't make much money on you!
Nice tuturial. I'm too afraid of disassembling my BA though
Hi guys
Basically i got a used HTC diamond, and the screen is very scratched, when using its not noticable but when u turn the phone off lots of marks are visible.
Is it possible to replace just the 'cover' of the phone? Does this phone have a replacable cover? Because the LCD is fine its just the outer surface cosmetic marks which are annoying me.
2.) Is there a way to get rid of the clock and calender / call history shortcut buttons on the main menue? I can minamize the clock but not get rid of the 3 items? And the icons at the bottom? Are they removable? Iv searched all over
Thanks veery much for any help!!
I don't know about Q1.
But for 2) You can switch off the touchflo3d interface.
Go to settings > Today> Items
Then untick Touchflo3d and select the elements that you do want.
Thanks a lot bro! But i want the touch flow, i just want to get rid of the 'calender' and 'cal history; links right in the middle of the menu....
But its not too big a deal
I really need help with number 1 ^ , can someone advise if i just need the case of the phone? And how would i do it?
Thanks a lot!
Q1) It's a pity a screen protector wasn't used. If not ya just need to replace the protector.
Anyways, you can try ordering a housing from eBay and changing it yourself:
http://shop.ebay.com/items/?_nkw=ht...&_trksid=m270&_odkw=diamond+housing&_osacat=0
Q2) The call history and calendar are part of the TF3D.. not removable
For Q2, you can use the Diamond TF3D Config tool to customize the TF3D interface. Follow this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405749 and don't forget to thank its creator Sushilange!
Thanks guys
I need a protector or housing? Same thing?

Yea.. thats the housing link U posted.
Housing consists of the chasis of the device which includes the screen.
Screen protector only protects the screen (it's a thin transparent film...) IF you already have a screen protector on it, just change that! Simple.
Thanks bro.
Unfortunatly it dosent have a screen protector otehrwise it would be in better condition >_<
So all i need is the housing ya. With the Diamond, u have to work ur way from the back and disassemble EVERYTHING until you get to the front right? Or can u just pull it out somehow?
Is there a specific place you would recommend to get the chasis?

Incomplete disassembly, the major part on the LCD/Digitizer not mentioned.
I am using Note5 as I always want a high spec android with dual sim and keyboard cover, but i am so disapointed with the limitations i realised after using for weeks, any same victim here? Or perhaps any captain can help to solve some of the problems?
Following are problems only happen when Samsung Keyboard attached:
1. No backlit keyboard, so pretty difficult to use at dark, ok i must admit this I have known before i bought it, so i forgive that
2. No split screen, ok i understand with smaller screen after keyboard coverd, must be difficult to have split screen also
3. Only Samsung Default Theme is allowed: I am not a Samsung Default Theme fan, so when I decide to buy samsung, I pretty much expect to have customize theme, and after i m done with customize, it is all changed to default everytime keyboard is attached... So stupid..
4. S Pen Air Command cannot work together with keyboard: feel so exiciting on beginning to have keyboard cover and useful S Pen to increase productivity in business, then realise Smart Select never happen when keyboard is attach, so only choose one, when i wanna use pen, i must remove keyboard, WTH!!!!
5. This is most annoying one, no PINYIN! Samsung Keyboard can add multiple language, include chinese pinyin, and cannot work when keyboard cover attached, and i pt cannot change to google pinyin also after keyboard attached, again only one feature you can use, want a pinyin then remove keyboard cover.
I really really hope there is an update for any of limitation in near future!
Anyone notice that the alternate characters on the Samsung keyboard is slow to respond? It works fine, I just find myself having to long press longer to get the alternate character. Causes me to make mistake quite often.
My Note 5 & Note 2 werenxt (<- see) this slow to respond. Anyway to remedy this? I've been comparing with my Note 5 & on the Note 8 itxs definitely slower to respond.
Yeah, it's pretty strange that Samsung doesn't include an option to adjust the response time like you can on third party keyboards. I'd suggest just trying out SwiftKey or others because it can definitely get annoying not getting the special key you want as fast as you want. Champagne problems, I know, but still. It's annoying, nonetheless.
EDIT: As you can see from the attached photo, SwiftKey (which I'm using) has this option but the stock Samsung keyboard does NOT offer it. Shame.
Yeah, same here. I like the Samsung keyboard because when apply a theme the keyboard is included. However, the special character problem plus the auto correct being so bad, I may have to switch.
Same here I like the Samsung keyboard because of it's features, the spen integration is the main one. Themes is also another.
I think I found a fix. Not sure if it's just in my head but it seems like it's ok now & I haven't made a mistake yet since the change. I disabled swipe to type. Well actually I changed it to cursor control, that's how I had it set on my N5. It makes sense as maybe the keyboard is sensing that you may be attemtping to swipe to type a word & causes the delay.
Now to fix my space bar issue but that's just me & my stubby thumb. I keep hitting letters or the period instead of the space bar. Same issue on my N5 & with the N8 being longer it's not helping in landscape mode. Tried changing the keyboard size but then all the letters are too far apart.

The short spacebar on Samsung keyboards is the ONLY reason I have always used Gboard. Shame Samsung never revised it yet.
Like yourself I always hit period instead of space.

In for example Nova launcher the navbar is transparent and shows your wallpaper all the way from the bottom of the screen to the top. Sure the cutout hole is visible but I never minded the cutouts on phones.
So if the cut out was visible in All apps that would be something I want. Just as if you zoom a YouTube video to cover the whole screen and the cutout shows.
Or.. alternatively, if there was a way to minimize/push the navbar upwards to slim it a bit, it also would be a good compromise.
Nothing like that around?
The problem I have is all the higher quality bumper cases have raised edges so your finger catches on the edge as you swipe up so you dont always register a swipe, this is a major floor with this option so I've had to go back to having the buttons showing all the time, problem with this is they are only transparent on the main screen, therefore you cant get full screen anymore with buttons showing, this is a big fail, hope Samsung realize this and fix it.
