Transparent notification bar for All apps? - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

In for example Nova launcher the navbar is transparent and shows your wallpaper all the way from the bottom of the screen to the top. Sure the cutout hole is visible but I never minded the cutouts on phones.
So if the cut out was visible in All apps that would be something I want. Just as if you zoom a YouTube video to cover the whole screen and the cutout shows.
Or.. alternatively, if there was a way to minimize/push the navbar upwards to slim it a bit, it also would be a good compromise.
Nothing like that around?

The problem I have is all the higher quality bumper cases have raised edges so your finger catches on the edge as you swipe up so you dont always register a swipe, this is a major floor with this option so I've had to go back to having the buttons showing all the time, problem with this is they are only transparent on the main screen, therefore you cant get full screen anymore with buttons showing, this is a big fail, hope Samsung realize this and fix it.

Multi-touch screen?

While tinkering with google map's I noticed that the screen seems to respons to 2 seperate points? give it a try for yourself. I used my finger to move side to side and the pointer to move up and down, this worked together and independantly on my phone. If this is the case can we see software to support this function such as image resize and so on?????
P.S. a couple of other things to try.....
Hold volume up button and press the action button (this brings up the screen calibation)
I think this has been mentioned before but there is a easteregg in the weather screen
If you tap on the dark bar that says weather near the side Left then Right it run's a demo of the various animations.
I don't think it's multi touch, it just finds the mean of the two points you press. It's the same if you use two fingers in some touch pads at laptops. Try this and you may understand what I'm talking about. Start google maps and touch the left part of the screen. While keeping your finger down, touch the right part and see when happens. With both fingers down, release the left finger and see what happens. This is due to the way the touch screen works, but it's definitely not multitouch.
Good tips for the screen calibration and the animations demo (although it doesn't show all animations - I didn't see the fog animation )

[Q] Strange Question Regarding Glitch in Notification Bar

I just had a question about my notification bar having these weird artifacts on it. I doubt it's the display since it shows on the picture I posted. Any ideas or suggestions as to what it might be?

That slightly lighter area with AT&T on it and the line under it? That's the bottom of the "window shade" - the notification pulldown. You can push the notification pulldown back up from there.

Unfortunately not quite. I was referring to those two light Grey lines on the very corner of the pull pull down bar.

They just mark the space between them where there might be more information sometimes. It is normal.

Explain this please, because they're two crooked barely visible lines. I don't see how this could be normal or even what it means. And although your response seemed educated I have no idea what your talking about so that doesn't really help.
There's nothing really visible in your picture, even when I fully exppand it. The arrow seems to be pointing to the top line. So I put on my reading glasses and my 20X magnifier (the one I use for working on microcircuits) and looked at my screen. Nothing there but the top line, an area slightly less dark than the area above the line and the bottom line. If your eyes are really that much better than mine, I can borrow a good microscope from the university and look at a pixel level, but I think what you're seeing is an artifact or dirt.

Just to make sure we are on the same page here. To me it looks like your crude arrow is pointing to the thin grey line that runs across the lower part of the screen above the bolder line. There is also one at the top that is very thin like maybe 2 or three pixels at most. These are the the top and bottom boarders for the information area of the pull down. If you get a text or an app wants to upgrade you can slide the bar down and the information about the text or the app and other information will appear between the two very tiny thin lines.
At all other times there is just a big dark void area between these lines.
Now if your image is showing something else then only you can see it because as stated by another poster we see nothing out of the ordinary for any Android phone running this version of Android in that screen image.

You may even have to as far as full brightness in a dark room. And I know it's the software because it's in the image not the lcd. I meant to circle it as well but I guess I missed that but I understand this device. I'm quite tech friendly myself so I understand how the notification bar design is. I'm not referring to the gray line that turns blue when you touch it and I'm not talking about any of the bar dividers. Nor the message and download center. I mean right in the corner there's too glitch like hash marks that actually slide up and down with it. Under the lighting I posted up there you should see it without a doubt. Also stretching the image to scale of your screen help you see it as if it was your pull down bar. Once someone sees it the hopefully we can determine what it's culprit is.

It's definitely there my wife even saw it. You may even have to as far as full brightness in a dark room. And I know it's the software because it's in the image not the lcd. I even pisted a screenie while moving it up and it travels with it as if its part of the notification bar. But i also know a glitch when i see obe. Under the lighting I posted up there you should see it without a doubt. Also stretching the image to scale of your screen help you see it as if it was your pull down bar. 20X head mag + 10X mag swingup. Dark room. Full brightness. Nothing.
If could be an artifact on your LCD.
I could not see anything on my phone but when I looked at it on my pc I could see what I think he is talking about. There are actually three lines that I see running on a slant, one of the lines runs through the "AT&T" on the bottom of the screen.
I think I see it too. Its so faint I had to zoom in just to see the pixel differences. Id reccomend a facotry reset, and if the issues persistent, perhaps a ROM install, and if not, a warranty exchange.

I wish I could believe that, but why does the artifact travel with the notification bar as I pull it back up and away? And that spot/issue doesn't appear anywhere else on the screen and also it doesn't appear on the same spot screen wise as to where it ends up on the notification bar. This can't possibly make any sense to an lcd. Lol. Any suggestions? And I apologize that you can't see it. It's just a photo you should see it. It shows up on any device viewing the image.

Thank you so much. I'm glad you were able to. What I don't understand is I've never in my years of experience with these devices I've never ever seen an image issue like that that actually moves with the bar as if it's a part of it. I've tried resets to no avail. And if it was hardware you'd see it one everything of that color in that same spot but it doesn't have a designated spit other than the Corner of that notification bar. Strange and I'm at a loss of words. And Romming isn't an option, this device has too many security features to warrant a trial and error theory just to see.

Screen smudge

I've noticed a smudge at the bottom of the screen just above the 'home' button. It's like when you press on a calculator screen and the lcd bleeds everywhere. Most noticeable when pressing down near the bottom on a white screen like the blank open page of chrome browser. It is however always there even on dark screens?? Any ideas? Anybody had this before? Thanks

same thing here, think they just didn't give the screen much support in the center do it's bending slightly?
I guess I'll just get on with it. I really don't want to return it just to get the same thing again.

[Q] Home/apps screen navigation

I upgraded to the S6 Edge from an S3. On the S3 the home screens and app menu wrapped around (i.e. swiping right on the far right screen brought me to the far left screen) and if I pressed on the dot corresponding to any home or app screen it would navigate directly to that one. On the S6 Edge, screens do not wrap around and pressing on any dot that's not next to the screen I'm on just moves it one screen in the right direction, but not all the way there. This is a pretty frustrating way to navigate as it means more swiping. Anybody able to get some better screen navigation for home and app screens or am I stuck with this?
Yes, this is my EXACT problem. Is there some magic setting that unlocks this feature? I didn't realize how much I relied on the navigation dots till that functionality disappeared with my new S6! It's such a little thing, but it's making using the new phone really, really aggravating. Has anybody found a solution to this?
ETA: I too upgraded from an S3, but to a plain S6, not the S6 Edge. I don't know how I feel about the fact that this is apparently a problem across phones . . .
Also, while we're at it, can we make the menu button come back? I miss it. . So to recap: 1) navigation dots, 2) screen wrap around navigation, 3) menu button. All missing. All essential.

Agreed! This is terrible! Is this one of those Touch Wiz cuts that everyone is praising? Ugh, I miss the dots and the wraparound home screens.

Samsun S7 keyboard case

Hi everyone, i'm a physical keyboard diehard fan. I'm using the keyboard case and it's great. However, I'm having issues with the space bar, which sometimes does not get pressed. In fact, it does not work at all with the tempered glass cover (the space bar, the other keys work).
Peeking under the keyboard i realized the on screen keyboard layout below the physical add on has a really tiny space bar.
This seems to be baked into the touchwiz standard theme, the keyboard is not compatible with other themes. Is there any way I can make this on secreen space bar larger so it gets always pressed? Can I add some material right under the space bar so it omproves "touchability"/contact with the screen?
Thanks

I think its becuase of the tempered glass screen protector. Becuase the glass screen protector has no adhesive on the screen area there is an air gap which is why the keyboard case doesn't work properly, it's what happend to me. I took the tempered glass screen protector off and put a normal tpu based screen protector on and the keyboard case work perfectly now, no skips in the keys which I press. Ohh and for the theme issue which you are talking about, that is none existent for me, I have used many themes on my s7 edge and the keyboard case works perfectly with them. The themes do not change the layout of the onscreen keyboard they just make it look different that's all.
Also if your keyboard isn't at its biggest size you can hold the button on your keyboard the one on the right of the symbol button, after holding it for a second or two it should bring up a popup this is where you click the settings button once you have clicked that you should be in the onscreen keyboard setting, scroll down until you find the keyboard size option and from there you can make the keyboard bigger or smaller according to your preference.

Great! thank you so much. let's make this the (weirdos!) keyboard users thread...
1-themes: you cannot DOWNLOAD the themes with the keyboard attached, but you can download them and use them if you doanload them with the cover removed... however, once I apply the theme (material design flat for instance) and attach the keyboard, i get the message:
KEYBOARD COVER ATTACHED. UNABLE TO APPLY DOWNLOADED THEMES WHILE THE KEYBOARD COVER IS ATTACHED. THE DEFAULT THEME WILL BE APPLIED
so no luck for me.
2-i use a tpu but I had to go through a few, some also made it unable to recognize the lower row (space bar) of the keyboard. I will experiment with the tempered glass plus some paper or something to facilitate its use and will report back.
3-sometimes when the phone comes back from sleep with the keyboard attached in enters a kind of multi window loop which I can only stop by briefly removing the keyboard, has that happened to you?
thanks!
g.
I have not had any of the issue you're experiencing other than the tempered glass one where it would not register the keyboards buttons. But other than that I've just tried the material design theme (normal and dark version) and they work fine I don't get no notifications or information toasts telling me that the theme is uncompatible.
Ohh and by the way this is the screen protector I use: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CH5RJT0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_udp_apa_DiADxbW8E784N

My Keyboard cover just arrived from korea and my screen doesn't automatically adjust. It''s off by a row. If I have the Keyboard cover on when I launch the phone I can't access the swipe code to open feature. It's a great idea but can't figure out how to make it work.

Did you change the DPI/resolution in the display settings? That could be the reason why (although using it with different display settings seemed to work on custom ROMs based on the official one).
