Hi Guys,
I was cleaning my phone the other day when I noticed an ackward gap between the screen and phone. I inspected it and I've just noticed the screen is coming off the phone. I had a look around and it's going from the bottom to the top. Has anyone had this problem?
BTW phone is has been in a pouch for 1.5 years and I can confirm has never been dropped. Given the phone is out of warranty what are the chances Motorola will repair this for free???

Man, did you manage to fix your screen? I am having the same problem here, just like you I was cleaning my phone when I realized the screen was coming off on one side. I know its been some time since you posted this but I am just wondering if you managed to fix it.
I saw this problem on other smartphones, you should check your battery, because on iPhones when it happens when the battery push and finally detach the LCD from the frame

Right, it seems to be that issue.
Some early N6 have had battery troubles. Their batteries inflated because of warm which usually makes the back cover taking off.
You seem to have the same problem but pushing the front of the device instead. (back may be well glued)
Don't know if Motorola will take it back. Furthermore, they have been selled to Lenovo since that, so it may be difficult. In Europe, when warranty is over (2 years), you won't get anything from them.
Just stick it back to its position, it's not a big deal. Maybe you'll have to buy some special tape for this.
http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Rahmen-Kleber-Klebepad-Klebefolie-Adhesive-Sticker-Frame-Motorola-Google-Nexus-6-/272109920217?hash=item3f5b03dfd9:g:VH8AAOSwCypWnlXM Something like that. Don't know if it is a special tape or a basic one..
My note 8 should be delivered any minute now. I'm nervous it'll have some defect. Almost every Samsung phone I've had prior did.. From wobbly home buttons to the light leak to crooked screens. What do you think my chances are it could be perfect and not have any of those problems? I'm mostly concerned with the light leak... Which my note 7 had and my s7 edge has too. I've even had a couple that got here already with some scratches on it.
If every Samsung phone you had prior had defects why buy the note 8 knowing it also does? Sucker for punishment? Lol joking
You'll be fine... think positive.
One word: Warranty
Don't worry it will be fine. My note 8 works great. Goes to work for me. Cooks and cleans as well. Just trying to teach it fetch a beer for me and life will be completed.
Jokes aside phone is pretty reliable don't worry bro. Like others said warranty and no worries. Come close to 12 month range get samsung care and extend it even longer. Nothing in life is full proof. The most reliable things some batches of product will be bad.
I'm hoping since I'm buying it 4 months later that it will hopefully be a new batch with the light bleed issue fixed?

I haven't had a defect on any of my Samsung phones, and take it from a guy who spent a month thoroughly convinced that his $1300 256gb Korean Note 8 had a flawed antenna, only to eventually figure out that it was actually his own early version CSC patch that was causing his crap LTE signal. After tearing the phone apart...

WELL?! How was it?!
Pro tip:
If the words on the screen seem hard to read or scrambled in some way, try turning the device 180 degrees and re-assess
I'm very angry. FedEx screwed me royally. I waited at my mailing address for hours today and it never came. Called multiple times and they kept telling me it'd come. I finally find out it never left a city 2 hours from me. 2nd delay now. They promised me it'd be here tomorrow. We'll see. Anyways.. My hey totally messed up my entire evening.

I wouldn't count on it. I dont think Samsung considers it an issue. I guess I dont really either. Its just the edge of the glass curve emitting light like a fiber optic cable. As soon as you put a case on its gone. I got the alcantara case and it's completely covered. And it's a low profile case. Maybe Samsung will paint the glass edges next time.

People keep calling it light bleed. It kind of bothers me too. Its not light bleed. More like light transfer. Like fiber optics.
Look at the barcode area and see what the hardware revision is. It's sometimes labeled as H/W v1.0 etc...

Hey guys. Finally got the phone yesterday and... This is the best phone ever made. It came perfect... Not a single scratch. I did notice the "light bleed" or whatever you call it around the edges but idc... My note 7, s7 edge had the same thing and I bet almost every note 8 does. Immediately put on a unicorn beetle case. This thing is so fast and amazing. I'm truly blown away. I actually really like the fingerprint scanner location and it's faster than the one that was on the note 7 for sure. I love not having a physical home button. They used to be misaligned and wobble and it drove me nuts. Anyways, I'm loving nova launcher olkn this phone.
Now I'm wondering which apps I should disable and certain settings to tweak to get the best battery life?
So.... At this pace I'd get around 10 hours screen on time?! Battery dropping 5% in 30 mins... Brightness is around 35%.
Is that the case with the built in screen protector? If so can it be removed or do they make a version without the screen protector?

Hey!
Got a Note 9 last week and day after receiving it i noticed when holding the note 9 and pressing on screen in certain areas (near sides/corners/centre) it would make a popping noise, sounds like adhesive behind the screen not adhering properly or something like that. I got Samsung to replace with a brand new one and same thing with this one, it happens whether phone is on or off, it's definitely not rite as you can hear it very clearly, feels like some flex going on in screen when it happens as i can feel the screen kind of dip slightly when it makes the noise, but ok when it does not make the noise.
Curious to see if anyone else have had the same issue? gutted as loved it for the short while i had it but sending second one back now for refund as worried something will happen with screen further down the road and Samsung may not cover it. I know of at least 3 others who had this issue when buying same time as me.
Cheers.

Hey thanks for sharing that. This is the first link I got searching for this, I have it happen to mine note 9 too. It's such a bummer since I had it for only three days and will have to setup a new one from scratch if they have to replace it.
are you sure the s-pen isnt vibrating when you tap it on that side? remove the s-pen and tap it. i bet it goes away
Wow. No issues like that. I've had three Note 9s and all three have been perfect. I'd definitely return for a replacement. Weak or loose glue could seriously affect the water resistance, since it depends on a water tight seal between the screen and the frame. I'd never recommend using your phone in water anyway, but I at least like the assurance that if my phone takes an accidental dip. There's a good chance it will survive.

Yep real shame, my replacement was the same to, it's on way back, getting a refund, not worth risking something going wrong with the screen later down the road, i mean manufacturers do anything to not accept responsibility specially when it comes to screens. First one started on second day, it was great for the first day, replacement was doing it from the moment i took it out of packaging and holding it, it was worse than the first one.

agreed.
After studying the noise a bit more, it is definitely an issue with the glue. It will not happen all the time I press the screen, but it happens more often when the phone is a bit warm to the touch (e.g. charging the battery). Also, it appears to be along the side where the battery resides - I wouldn't worry about the battery itself, it just makes sense that the glue will get loose where it heats up more often (in my case, I don't stress the phone all that often for the other side where the SoC is to play a role). Anyways I'll be returning it tomorrow once the shops here in Berlin open 'cause now it's christmas break.
One extra thing that might be interesting, the back-side also has some sort of a glass-separation issue, at least it looks like that. Notice the circular smudge around and right of the DUOS label - I tried cleaning it but it comes back, I think the glass is separated at that point too, but just a tiny bit. I've had the phone for four days and haven't dropped/hit/scratched it AFAIK.

i agree with you, seems to be adhesive/glue issue, it did not happen all the time for me either but as you mention it, i noticed it more after recharging (when phone gets warm) so think you nailed the issue on the head to be honest.
I noticed it around the sides (edges) and the centre of screen, second one was even worse much more noticeable and was happening straight away after taking it out of box.
Something i noticed but never mentioned as wasn't sure but second one was the same, maybe it's normal but don't think it is, on the curved corners of the screen it appeared to me the screen looked slightly lifted not flush with the frame but only on corners.
I live in the UK btw. I was thinking a bad batch but seeing Samsung had a good deal on with cashback and discount i imagine they sold allot between the time i arranged to send mine back to getting the replacement which was a week so i imagine they would have been separate batches although i could be wrong.

Cool, thanks for the info. It's too dark in the winter days so it's hard to say if the glass is a bit off on the corners, but nevertheless, I will write back when I (hopefully) get a replacement one.
One last thing - you did speak directly with Samsung support? Did you buy it from their store or you just didn't want to bother with the store you bought it from?

I bought it directly from the Samsung online uk store. There was a discount direct from Samsung for students/people who work in certain industries so it could be bought for £699 (£200 off), but also they were offering £150 cashback bringing total down to £549, plus cashback by going via a cashback website meant i would have had it for around £504, also they were doing trade in so people could get even more off up to another £150.00 bring cost down to £399, then people got the samsung game deal thingy, don't play games myself but people can get a Fornite theme by downloading Fornite playing 3 games then you get the free theme, kids going bonkers for the theme, people selling the theme upto £100. So people could have the phone at a bargain price.
So I got a replacement, and just as you said, the display had the same popping sound out of the box. It happens like once a day, but since there is really no substitute for this device right now (stylus + good DAC, besides all the other great features), I'll keep using it and if it gets worse contact Samsung down the line for warranty/replacement. Decided to leave this as information if some other person happens to have the same problem in the future.

feel for you, such a shame and disappointing to happen a second time, it's a great phone, i did not want to risk it so sent second one back too. Fingers crossed you won't have any issues. Mine was happening regularly so like you say just keep an eye on it.

it seems to happen when its really cold outside for me.. its not enough for me to have it replaced thankfuly
I can replicate this when I clean my screen with a microfibre cloth. It happens on pretty much all of the screen. I believe I can also see some light streaks in the screen when this happens. The popping sound happens regardless of the temperature of the phone. Will have to inspect it more to see if I can spot any other issues with the screen. I got mine in the UK just over a week ago. Apart from that I think the phone has been great so far. Not sure whether to replace it.
glad i sent mine back now to be honest, personally i would send back, as you say everything else is great apart from the screen popping sound. The worry for me is the screen might cause issues further down the road, screens are the biggest issue with mobile phones and manufacturers are quick to blame user and deny warranty.

My Unlocked US Note 9 does it too. Mine mainly does it on the right side near the middle. It's not enough for me to warrant sending it back; it still works fine and I don't see any screen issues when pressing on the screen. Also I bought mine used so I'm guessing the screen was replaced. If it gets worse, I guess I'll fix it then.
Hello All,
I recently bought a brand new Note 9 from John Lewis in the UK and have had it for about 2 weeks now. It's been a great phone with one major issue: whenever I clean the screen with a microfibre cloth using a little bit of downward pressure on the screen I can hear a clear and loud popping/cracking sound. This happens when the phone is both powered on or off, the temperature of the phone makes no difference either and it happens around most of the screen surface, it doesn't seem to matter. Also when I fog the screen with my breathe I can see marks/patterns even if the screen is completely clean. I am not using a screen protector or a case. I am storing it in a pouch.
I did a little digging around online and a few others have had a similar issue too, their issues seems to be when they touch the screen (https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-9/help/experience-popping-noise-pressing-note-t3881671). The consensus seems to be that there might be an issue with the glue/adhesive with the glue possibly being weak or loose.
I contacted John Lewis for a replacement and the second Note 9 has the exact same issue. At least one person who got a replacement got a new unit where the popping was worse and just refunded it.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
How common is this problem?
I have a owned quite a few phones (no Samsung phones btw) and this is the first time I have encountered this before. I have tried to replicate this on friends and family members phones, who all by chance happen to not own any Samsung phones either, no popping/cracking sound again.
This might be a lot to ask, but if anyone is willing to, can you replicate what I did to see if your unit makes this same popping/cracking sound by using a microfibre cloth and rubbing it over the screen with a little downward pressure? I know it's not something a lot of people naturally do, but it would be interesting to see how common this might be.
Thanks
Yea, I've got the same issue here too. Dint bother to take it to Samsung coz I cant replicate it all the time and the last time I did the the same with a Sony phone for a similar issue, they kept my device with them for 2 days and said its alright.

Can't say for certain. Could be, but I don't know enough about that to confirm that. Best I can say is that if sounds like a cracking or popping sound when I rub over the screen with the cloth with a little bit of downward force.

check if it was refurbished. maybe the screen got repaired ?(not adequately)
anyways just take it back
I had the same problem when I sent my T-Mobile branded Note 9 to the Samsung repair center in Texas. They replaced the camera module because it was having trouble focusing after the software update to Pie. When it came back it had new issues and was returned. After my phone was gone for several weeks I made numerous phone calls to support requesting a replacement since this was the 2nd time I had returned the phone. One day I get an S-pen and an SD tray in the mail... no reason why, no explanation, nothing. More calls to Samsung wanting to know where my phone was or when a replacement or a refund was coming. Two days later a phone finally shows up out of the blue. It has a different IMEI so I guess it's a new phone. Everything works fine but it makes a crinkling noise when you clean the screen.. All tolled, Samsung held my phone hostage for over a month, the returned calls promised from supervisors never materialized, my phone disappeared into oblivion for weeks and I have an extra S-pen , an extra SD card tray and a Note with a crinkling screen. Worst customer support experience ever.
I've had a Note 9 since December that did this occasionally, but doesn't seem to do it any more. Hasn't affected it otherwise.
Probably Vietnamese or Chinese builds.

Greeting all! I've had my Asus Rog 2 for a little over a month I'd say. I have the proper Republic of Gamers version. I've noticed on the left side, where the attachment port is. An amount of flex in the screen along the seal. It's probably only a millimetre or so. But it flexes up and down when pressed, seeable from a side on view. The other side where the volume and power buttons are does not that this flex. There is also a light difference to sound when tapping that side of the phone while typing. Which I can only put down to the slight screen compressing on the left. I'm not sure how I can to notice it. Some people have said it might be an intentional aspect of the phone to give a small amount of flex/shock absorption but I can't find anything online mentioning it. I'm more leaning towards it being a fault in my phone. It's not once been dropped always been in a case. So yeah. Anyone able to shed light on this?

Greeting all! I've had my Asus Rog 2 for a little over a month I'd say. I have the proper Republic of Gamers version. I've noticed on the left side, where the attachment port is. An amount of flex in the screen along the seal. It's probably only a millimetre or so. But it flexes up and down when pressed, seeable from a side on view. The other side where the volume and power buttons are does not that this flex. There is also a light difference to sound when tapping that side of the phone while typing. Which I can only put down to the slight screen compressing on the left. I'm not sure how I can to notice it. Finally. Someone with class and crazy sharp senses. I myself have severe OCD. I used to be very verbal about this kind of stuff on the AC forums xD. But on XDA i toned myself down.
First of all. Asus has crap for Quality Control. I had 2 ROGPHONE 2s with different power button height. And in between the lcd and bezel i could see glue. But okay nevermind.
As for the screen lifting near the accessory port, i do not seem to have it. Did you happen to sit on it? Or put the phone in the back pocket? Remembering that this is a tall phone.

Nope! I don't even take the phone to work with me. I swap to my previous phone.
I'm pretty sure it's a fault. It hasn't caused any issues apart from some annoyance to my OCD. As long as it doesn't worsen it's not something I can't live with.

It will worsen. You should get it replaced. Im sure it will eventually become wider from the flexing. Btw do you use the accessory port often? And do you have a tempered glass applied?

I wouldn't have a clue how. I'm in Australia and I purchased the phone via eBay.
I've used the accessory port once, just to check it out. Used the fan for maybe 15 minutes. Other than that I've never removed the piece of rubber there.
And yes, I have a tempered glass protector applied.

Yeah, it's 100% the screen. You can see the black edge of the screen move up and down from the dark drownish side of the phone. I'll just have to keep an eye on it I suppose. Bit annoying though. Pay almost $1,700 for one of the best phones on the market thinking you're going to get something issue free. Ha.

In Indonesia. Samsung has the best QC. I only had 1 issue with Samsung. Which was dust under the S7 Edge screen. But other than that they're very good. But Asus Indonesia is a joke. Its like we get a refurbished phone. I bought 2 rogphone 2s and each had their own defect. First had glue in between the screen and bezel, and my current unit has different volume/power button height.

Which is why I didn't want to buy the Tencent version. Plus it wouldn't work here correctly without getting into the firmware. I just figured I'd spend the money. Get the good one that'll have no issues. I asked the seller if they had warranty which the answer was no. They referred me to a few companies that do insurance on phones.
I've never bought a real expensive phone before, and my previous phone was 4 or 5 years old. It was an S5.
So it is annoying. But other than that I don't have any complaints about it.

Or you could use it until it shows signs of damage defect. Or bring it to an authorized repair shop. Im guessing lack of glue.

Lack of glue probably is the issue. I might see if there are any places around that can do it. Doubtful there would be around me. Best luck is probably Sydney. Which is a few hours away.

If you like DIY stuff. Try using LOCO glue. They helped me seal my Note 8 when it had cracks.

You seriously dont know how comfortable your comment has made me after reading it. I have always had this habit of checking my belongings (from my phone to my own body and muscles) to make absolutely sure there isnt a single even slighgest problem with it and guess what, there always is something to notice for me!
One of the reasons why I had never opted for an oled phone knowing I will notice the burn-ins one day when there isnt any other person who notices them.
Now I finally decided to go for this phone with the assumption that asus knows how to make gaming stuff, but now I can see several issues already, from the obvious red tint to the screen having lots of bandings and horizontal lines on lower brightness on gray color.
Now I can also feel the volume buttons not needing the same pressure and of of them being softer and also the rgb light on the back being poorly so when the light turns on there are some dots around it that also light up(i know that its only a white paper behind the back glass so if there are any print issues they will also light up)
Althought I dont have any serious issues(yet), im definitely not buying another phone from asus or any other not that famous brands for that matter. My last device was a sony x compact which I had for 3 years from when it came out and I still regret selling it, it was so damn perfect.
Btw, thanks for lettin me know that there is a disorder named OCD, I dont know why I hadnt searched about it already.

Hi, well thats quite a positive feedback. I had quite a backlash at AC forums. I've had people say that I'm making AC look like a Mental Issue Forum and some user even boasted how happy his credit card is if he buys a new phone when the old 1 is damaged.(credit card lol) Btw, i wouldn't say its a disorder. Different people have different standards. For me the Mercedes Benz S Klasse might be perfect, but for you it might not be.
And my OCD is definitely worse than yours. My phone can only be touched by me, and me myself dont touch the physical buttons(I'm afraid that it will be damaged).
And never feel alone about something. There will always be somebody out there having the same issue but not posting on the forums xD.

Not a fan of DIY.
So I stopped by a phone repair should this Arvo. The guy said to him it looks as though the battery is swelling. He said thats the side the battery is on so that is the most likely reason for it. He asked if the battery life was alright still.
Hard for me to really notice. I only use the phone on weekends and in the afternoons while home. I generally only charge it every second day, and I unplug the charger once it's at 100%. He said it isn't serious at the moment but if I notice battery charge fading fast, or if it swells a lot more to bring it back and he'll be able to put a new one in.
Just my ****ing luck to get shoddy battery, if that's the issue.

No they didn't. But it's their job so I'd say they can make a pretty fair guess.
I might go back there Monday, as I need my phone this weekend. On Monday I'll go back and tell them to do what needs to be done to fix it.
The battery is on the opposit side from the vent that would be on the left side of the vent, didnt you say that the problem was on the left side of your screen meaning its on the right side of the back??!

Is it? I haven't even checked that. I'll look that up. But yes, it is opposite to the vent.
You're right it is. Interesting. Awesome. Now I'm back to annoyed and confused. Haha.

Yeah trust me the customer services' first guess is battery swell which basicly doesnt happen soon unless you are always charging your phone while playing and overnight and draining it to the last percentage. But is can happen as a result of physical impact or damage, and when it happens you will most probably notice the shortened battery life so I would say it's not a battery problem unless of course proven otherwise.
