I couldn't find anything by searching the older threads so here is my question:
Is it possible (and reasonably save) to try and unlock the bootloader in a SIM locked x8? Just to clarify: I don't want to remove the SIM lock from my phone - I'm happy with my current provider. I'm just wondering if I can unlock the bootloader while I still have a SIM lock on my phone.
All the threads about unlocking seemed to be concerned about how the phone was SIM unlocked rather than whether it was actually necessary...

I just want to know if I can unlock my bootloader while I still have a SIM lock in place. Or will I brick my phone then? I don't want to remove the SIM lock. Just flash a custom kernel so I can get proper wifi tether...

I was given the Motoroloa razr I as gift but the only issue is its locked down to Orange and I have a Virgin sim card. Does anyone know a way to unlock this to work on Virgin? Would it involve unlocking the bootloader?

A Virgin sim card should work in an Orange-locked phone.

No root or bootloader unlocked needed, just buy an imei unlock code, insert the Virgin's sim and It'll ask for the unlocking code, then you're done
Hey, i have an htc one sim locked to Bell, rooted, s-off, supercid, running android rev rom 13.3. When i insert a different sim card it doesnt prompt me to enter sim unlock code. Has anyone seen this or have a solution? Thanks.
Just flash stock RUU i.e. stock rom.. it will ask for unlock code then
So I had some trouble with my carrier and decided to end my 24month agreement with them due to lack of support and bad reception...
Anyhows, now I am left here with a locked HTC One, how do I sim unlock it/carrier unlock it ? I have Root and S-off, so obviously also unlocked bootloader.

I have a Sprint HTC One M8 and I have the unlock code from Sprint, however when I put in my sim card the phone reads "Invalid Card". I think this is because I would like to use the phone with T-mobile, a domestic carrier in the US. If somebody knows how to unlock the phone for domestic carriers and can help me or give me instructions I would be very grateful. I'd even be willing to pay if someone could take the time to figure this out. I have tried the unlock tutorials on the forum, but nothing has worked for domestic.

Good luck with your research. Domestic SIM unlock has not been successfully done on M8 as far as I know. There were some people did the domestic SIM unlock on M7 back in 2013 and you may want to leverage their work in your try (search in M7 forums). Sprint classified the M8 as international unlock capable and domestic – non capable in their website. M9 and up series have the capacity to get factory GSM unlock to use domestically. Please share your work if you get success.

Because a friend got two sprint m8 relocked after he upgraded them to marshmallow. Is sim unlock confirmed for marshmallow? I see no posts to affirm this sir.
