Hi,
After a long time (I always use cloud) I tried to connect my Xperia ZL via USB to flash lollipop.
Windows 8.1 gives me:
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

Windows 8.1 fully updated (I found this was a 8.1 problem last year, but I have all the updates)
Tried other cable
Tried other PC
Tried other USB port
Tried USB debugging on/off
Tried switch USB mode. (mass storage etc)
Tried my old Samsung Jet, mass storage works fine.
Is something broken? Last year my stock xperia cable got so hot it melted some plastic on my phone and the cable died, but it still charges fine every day.
Thanks
:crying:
Just bought a new micro-sd cable.
No go
Okay, I fixed it after using a very small pin to clean 5 individual connectors on my ZL's USB port.
I already tried it but apparently a real cleaning was needed.
I bought the Tronsmart Data Cables USB-C to USB-A knowing the cable that came with the box was only a charging cable. But still my computer won't recognize my Mi 5 64Gb. Any thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have also installed the MI PC Suite. Still failing.

MiSuite is useless for now, as this thing doesn't support Android 6.
Just connect the phone with a cable to the Computer. I use the Xiaomi Mi4c cable, the original mi 5 is still in the box but both work to transfer data!
All you have to do is:
-Connect the phone to the pc with Usb C to A
-Change the connection mode from "Use USB for Charging only" to "Use USB for Transfer files (MTP)"
Uh and could you please explain the difference between a USB C to USB A charging cable and a USB C to USB A data-transfer cable? The more details you add the better. I am specially curious about the wires inside of the cable, like the difference between a charging and data cable, by the means of wire connection. (I have never heard of such a thing.)
I have tried doing that but it seems Windows is not installing the drivers for Mi 5 thus getting a "device could not be recognized.
Working great now. Had to change USB ports and used the ones at the rear of my desktop. Thanks!

mine has the same problem with you..
when connected Mi 5 to PC, Mi 5 is not displaying "Charging Only" or "MTP" Option. My PC (Win 7) says "Device is not Recognized".
I've tried uninstalling Mi PC Suite and another ADB program, and changing usb port, the problem is stills..
How do you fix it?
I had the same problem. But changing to a different USB-port on my computer solved it. Check if you have any native USB3 ports on your mobo.
I had the same issue on my Win8 computer (usb2 plugs only) . But it connected perfect on my wife's win7 computer (usb3 plugs)
I finished getting it connected by validating USB debug and waiting very long for driver installation.
USB3 versus USB2 , why not.
Its Not USB2 vs USB3 as I am getting it connected on my Laptop with only USB2 ports but Can't connect on my PC with USB2/USB3 ports while my S7 connects perfectly. I dunno why this is happening and still seeking solution. PTP mode and USB tethering mode works fine though. Just MTP mode connection gets the Yellow triangle and device listing under other devices in my windows device manager.
Install the software driver of the pc and connect as mtp
Dont work anything
I change it to MTP but it comes back by itself to charging mode wtf
Go to device manager after connecting usb to phone
In portable devices, you will find your device along with a caution sign
Double click on your device
Go to driver tab
Then click on update driver
Then click on "Browse my computer..."
Then click on "Let me pick..."
Select MTP USB Device
Install this driver and then your phone will be detected by your computer
(1) Go to C:\Windows\INF
(2) Type "wpdmtp.inf" in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.
(3) Once you found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a very few seconds.
(4) Connect your device to the pc.

It seems like my rooted A6+ doesn't recognize my PC. It charges but I don't get the choice to transfer files and it doesn't appear on my PC not even as an unrecognized device.
At first I thought it was a problem with my PC or my USB Cable but my friend had come over and used that same USB Cable to connect his phone to my PC and it worked just fine. The USB Cable had also worked before since it was the USB Cable that I used to root my phone. I feel like it's a software issue in my phone and not a hardware issue. Any ideas?

It sounds like the USB port may actually be bad. Is this tablet stock? If you have TWRP installed you may try connecting it from recovery. You might also try from Linux booted from a flash drive to take Windows out of the equation. The data pins and the power pins or separate, so it may just be that the data pins have been damaged.
Does the cable feel loose in the tablet?
I have a Xperia XZ2 (H8216), the usb was working perfectly, but one day i connect a usb extensor, and from that day windows dont recognice the phone...
Device Adminsitrator show Error 43... i tried uninstall the driver, enable and disable usb debug on the phone... nothing seems to work (not even charge when usb is connect to laptop)
Any idea? tomorrow i try on another computer, but other devices with me same usb cable works.
UPDATE----
tried another usb cable and computer , and the same "Windows cannot recognize the device"
