N beta 4 android os data drain - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, anyone else experiencing massive data usage from android os on the latest android n build? It's currently used 1.5 gb for the month and it's driving me insane. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Edit: never mind - wrong thread

i flashed dp4 last week, so far so good.
but couple month before, i dirty flash factory image to update marshmallow, after that data useage in settings panel show me that i used over 20GB. i checked my data useage from my operator and nothing wrong.
so i suggest you can check with your operator to ensure how many data you actually used.
sorry for my poor english.

GPS + Data issues

Hello all, I have an XT1063 (Global, single sim) running Lollipop (5.0.2). When I first bought it, it came with Kitkat and everything was working perfectly. I was in the insider program so I got to test drive Lollipop earlier than most people, which was nice and didn't really mess anything up the first few builds. The last build, however, changed that. This is the currently available build to everyone, since the beta program is over. Anyway, the problem is that my GPS will not lock on to satellites, making all map/traffic apps completely useless. As if this wasn't enough, the phone often drops my data connection (H+) and when switching from WiFi to celular data, it can take upwards of 5 minutes to get a data signal.
Could this be a problem with the modem fimwares? What are my options? I've thought about going back to stock, even reset everything from the settings menu once (didn't revert to stock kitkat, just factory settings on Lollipop.) If I absolutely have to go back to stock kitkat, how would I do it?
Any and all help would be much appreciated!

Lollipop has a lot of issues... I have ****ty GPS lock too, but maybe that's because of my region.
I can agree with you on the frequent network drops though... Sadly, i have no solution for that, except to re-save the apn until you get the data working.
However, for the WiFi - cellular data switching, switch on "Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular Handover" in Developer Options.... It kinda solves my problem. (Still takes a minute for my data to work)

I see... It's sort of a relief knowing that I'm not alone in this. I've got a friend who has the same exact model, firmware, baseband, everything as me, but his phone is working without a problem...
Would you know of any guide i could follow to flash stock 4.4.4?

There are a couple of them in the development section... But I suggest before you downgrade, why not backup your data and factory reset in lollipop itself? See if your problems continue or not... You'll be wiping data anyways when you are downgrading.

I did perform a factory reset earlier today, but the problems persisted, so I've now downgraded to 4.4.4 and will be on the lookout for these issues for a few days before updating again.

That's cool. And you won't find any issues either... KitKat is rock solid stable.
Lollipop buggy. kitkat stable.

OnePlus 3T - Cellular Data Usage Counter Won't count Tethering

Hello everyone.
I have been using this device for some time now.
At first, the data usage counter would let me now how much data would have been spent while tethering.
and at some point it just stopped showing.
It shows all other apps, but will not let me know what about tethering usage.
anyone has any idea about it?
Thank you
Alon
Same problem for me on 4.1.5 , and since 4.1.3 at least.
The phone simply doesn't count ANY of the data spent through tethering/wifi hotspot. And it's a big issue.
Does anyone know a fix ?
Thanks

Huawei P9 getting rid of annoying 7.0 update notification

First of all, sorry for my english
I came to the point of selling my phone (EVA-L19, dual sim) that I loved so much because of that constant 7.0 update push message. That occurs in every internet connection mode change (switching between wifi and mobil data) and i did everything (cancellation of all permits of the update app, cutting its data connection, erasing its data etc) but no solution. I've searched the forum before i open that topic but i couldn't find a valuable answer. For those who say why arent i updating to 7.0, I am getting phenomenal battery life and Sot with 6.0 (about 7.5-8 hours), the phone works perfectly stable and cool, there are no annoying android is, or android system battery drain issues and i dont want it to be destroyed with ****ty 7.0 update, i dont care about new looks of the huawei 5.0 interface or its new features gimmicks etc. I just want it to stay as it is. I will be glad if you can help. Thanks.

OnePlus 3T GPS Issue with Mobile Data and Location both "On"

My OnePlus 3T is running Build Number ONEPLUS A3000_28_180915. Android Version 8.0.0.
The issue is that my phone's GPS is working when Location is on and works with or without WiFi when I have Waze open.
But, once I use my Mobile Data + Location = my GPS now becomes intermittent especially in Waze. It keeps on connecting and disconnecting for some reason. I also have tried having my Location at High Accuracy and Device Only and the problem still exists.
I have already tried using GPS Status and Toolbox, Cleared my Cache, re-installed my OS and I still have the same result. Up to now, I have not yet been able to resolve this. I hope someone can help me with this issue.
Thank you.
I (along with a number of others) had a problem with GPS on a much older stock OOS build, around October 2017. This was a problem with the ROM having outdated aGPS data.
Not sure if that is similar to your issue. I didn't have any problems after that one build. There is a newer build than the one you are on (181206). So you might try to update, and see if that helps.

Thanks for this! I'll try updating to that this weekend if I have the time and I'll give an update here.
I honestly don't want to give up on this phone just yet even if it's already a number of generations late already.

I tried flashing the latest ROM from OnePlus for my Device and I even did a Restore Factory Settings and it still does not work. Would you have any other idea what could possibly be causing this? Thank you.

Phone loses mobile data after a few hours

So this is something I've noticed happening on my Moto G5S Plus for a few months now. I was using Pixel Experience 10 without any issues up until mid-March, when I started seeing this issue. I would have perfectly good LTE and other mobile data when starting the phone, and usually I keep it on WiFi since I'm home most days given the current situation. However, when it's time to switch back to mobile data again after a few hours (for example, overnight), I would find that the status bar would indicate bars of service as expected but there would be no "LTE" or "H" or "3G" or "E" etc. indication there. Swiping down the quick settings shows "LTE" etc. as expected, but pulling up an example page in the browser then says "no internet". In this state, I'm able to send/receive calls and SMS, but unable to send/receive MMS and mobile data. It persists until I restart the phone, in which case the data works for a few hours before disappearing again.
Once I noticed this issue, I switched to Arrow OS and it worked well up until the April 25 build, at which point I once again encountered this issue. Since then, I've been bouncing around ROMs trying to find one that works for me and so far every single one I've tried (DerpFest, EvolutionX, Pixel Experience, Arrow OS) has this same issue - except POSP. My mobile data would work just fine for weeks on end on that ROM. Now I've been trying to move away from POSP because unfortunately it's incredibly laggy on my device, so I'm really trying to find the root cause of the issue. I'm fairly convinced that this is a software issue and not a hardware issue because it began happening at different times with different ROMs, and right after an update. Moreover, the issue doesn't happen at all right now with POSP.
The last builds I've tried are EvolutionX July 14 and Pixel Experience July 19, both of which have this issue still. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Things I've tried so far:
- full wipe (including internal storage) and flash to stock via fastboot, then performing all OTA updates
- fiddling with my APN settings (matches what the carrier specifies on their website)
- checked to make sure that IMEI is still present (phone retains IMEI when I first boot it and have data, and it remains when no longer having data)
