Access Notification Log - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to recover swiped away notifications on Marshmellow on the Note 5? All the info I find is about long pressing the home screen and adding a Setting Widget.
This doesn't exist on the Note 5. Does anyone know a way to do this?
Thanks!

If you use good lock you can.

I checked out good lock and it says nothing about viewing notification logs. It seem to be a glorified lock screen app.

[Q] Few questions about the One before I buy

Hey, just a few things I'd like t clarify before I buy the One. These are basically things I couldn't test in the store
Regarding the shortcuts on the lock screen:
If you have a password/swipe/face/watever to unlock your phone, is this bypassed when using the apps? i.e. if I have my gmail link there, can someone slide up on gmail and get straight in, or does it require a password. And if so, does it then also require a password when sliding the camera?
Regarding notifications:
Say you have a notification from facebook in the notifications slider at the top of the screen. Does Sense 5 allow you to swipe that notification away, like stock android does?
Killing applications:
On my galaxy nexus, there is the button that looks like two overlapping squares, that brings up a list of recent apps. Is there something similar to this in Sense 5?
Cheers

that would be a major security flaw ! it's not the case.

I haven't used other locks beside the swipe, but it does seem that swiping the icon up in the drawer will jump right to it.

Yes, it is a swipe to the right.

What you are talking about it "multitask" and yes, if you double tap the HOME button, you'll bring up the multi-task menu where you can swipe apps away. FYI, this is *not* the same as a task killer.

Adding widgets to the lock screen

I have enabled widgets on the lock screen (Settings > Security...). From time to time I can see a big + (plus) sign on the lock screen, and by tapping it I am able to pick up a widget. After unlocking and locking again, the widget is gone and there is no plus sign anymore.
Does someone know what causes the plus sign to show up or how to revoke it?

The + sign is showed when you swipe left or right starting from the upper right or left corner of the screen.
I don't know for the rest of your problem, sorry ^^
Widgets don't disappear, they're just on another screen of your lockscreen. Swipe left or right around your clock and widgets you added will show. It's stupid, and it takes more than one try at first, but it is what it is.
You are both right. Now it works, but it is kind of useless.
Thanks anyway.

I have another question regarding lock screen. How do you change pop up menu on p7 lock screen. In the bottom row are calendar, calculator, torch and mirror and above used to be weather icons. After reseting my phone for other reasons weather icons are gone and something alse now appears. Does anyone know how to change it to weather again?

go to settings, then set lock screen security to NONE. it should eliminate the problem.. having a lockscreen app only covers the stock lock screen, it does not "take over", unless you set security to none.

Face Unlock Straight to Home Screen

Hey XDA'ers,
I just picked up my N6 a few days ago.. I've been on Nexus devices after I gave up on the Galaxy S3. Never looked back! (Except for my CM12 LG G3 )
So here is my question to you all. Has anyone created or integrated app/code that once your face is recognized, unlock to home screen without a swipe? I was comparing the iOS finger unlock with my fam this weekend and it would be nice not to swipe up even though your face has been recognized.
If its not implemented, I can donate some money for someone to create something like that if plausible. Maybe a bounty if others are interested.
Thanks for taking a look!
Is that not the default behavior when you select face unlock as your security? I haven't used it in a little while however I am sure that is how it works. Turn on phone, look at it, boom home screen.

Nope. I use face unlock right now. Once it recognizes your face, it allows you to swipe up. It didn't automatically unlock.
Couldn't this pose a risk of unlocking when unintended? Perhaps you just want to see notifications on the lock screen quickly and see if you actually want to unlock and act? Or what about changing the track in the lock screen music player?

I see your point, however if someone were to make an app or bake it into a ROM, there could be a "hold off for __ seconds" before it checks for a face and goes to home screen. For instance, you could make it zero if you want immediate unlock, 10 seconds to check notifications. And if you didn't want to unlock and just check notifications, you would just hit the icon so it stays locked until you swipe up at that point (how it is with 5.0 at the moment.

Then I would be too impatient when I want to skip the lock screen and just swipe anyway - defeating the purpose. Swipe is faster than wait 10 seconds to auto-unlock.

I think it just makes sense! If you don't want it, simply deactivate the feature, right? I'm starting my developing classes later thus summer. Maybe I'll be able to cook something up if nothing shows up by then haha.
Thanks for your interest guys, but it looks like not many are interested :/
+1 definitely would love someone to fix this
Bump because I want this, I can't figure how to do something like this with tasker.
What I want:
Condition: Lockscreen locked with pattern, trusted face enabled and triggered.
Scenarios:
1. Notifications present? Remove pattern but allow me to swipe to unlock when I'm ready. (Current behaviour)
2. No notifications? Go straight to homescreen without any interaction as soon as my face is detected. (New behaviour)

I've been trying every combination of tasker and secure settings I can think of, but there's no way I can detect when smart lock is triggered with the built-in settings.
http://nelenkov.blogspot.com/2014/12/dissecting-lollipops-smart-lock.html
I read that, and there seems to be a per-user trusted flag that's edited by smart lock, if tasker somehow could read it, we could trigger actions with it.
There problem is I don't know where the flag is or how to read it, I'm a bit out of my league here, maybe you are more knowledgable in this matter.
Take a look at the Stock LG G2/3/4 ROMs, this is their default Face Unlock behavior. I came from the G2 and am having withdrawals, partially because of this feature.

[Q] [SOLVED] Lollipop issues: edit lock screen, close all apps

Hello,
I'm on 5.0.2 Sony stock FW, rooted. I'd like to be able to add custom widgets to my lock screen (Power Toggles) and to be able to enter my pattern without having to swipe up first. (The dot grid only becomes visible after swiping up from the bottom of the lock screen.)
So basically, I'd like the lock screen to immediatly show a widget and the grid. Notifications are not necessary.
It used to be simple to customize lock the screen... Does anyone know how to get this done?
Thanks!

Well, it looks like you're right. I have even tried several apps. (CM Lock, SnapLock, AcDisplay, Keypad Lock) While some offer better customizability, none show the dot grid without swiping.
I'm starting to miss KitKat already. Who could have possibly thought of this as a good idea?

Lollipop does not support lock screen widgets like KitKat did. I use Power Toggles too and now use the notification feature to show toggles on the lock screen. The reason you have to swipe up is to get past the notifications so you can unlock the device.

Scott, I hadn't considered using the notification feature of Power Toggles. That solves one problem. Thanks!
Also I must admit, coming from an Xperia V, the facial recognition works pretty fast in lock screen. (Found under security > smart lock) That means one swipe usually does the trick towards unlocking.
Sony's not off the hook as far as I'm concerned, though. Reducing customization options is never a good thing.
Besides, I don't like some other decisions they've made. Next up: finding a way to get the kill all apps button back

Glad the notification approach works for you.
Regarding customizations, if you are referring to the lack of lock screen widgets, that is not a Sony customization. It is a change to Lollipop. My Nexus devices to not have lock screen notifications on Lollipop either.
