Does anyone get any inconsistent light bleed at the bottom of the screen, I know light bleed is normal in current screen technology, i'm just curious, top and left/right side looks fine on my unit, it's just the bottom, I will not return my unit as it isn't realy consider a defect.

Mine does not have any light bleed...
Sent from my F8131 using XDA-Developers mobile app
Come to think of it, you can only see it if you are on the lock screen using the white, rose or white background, I did notice this as well on the other units before I chosen this one as my final one.
I have a slight light bleed on the bottom right hand corner. i only notice it if i really look for it,. it only shows on brighter colors. Only thing im afraid of is it getting worse.. my xperia z3 compact had the same issue, but way worse. it was yellowish, so i think it was the glue melting or something. whats crazy about the z3 compact having the issue is; i bought the phone with a cracked display and sent it to Sony to fix/replace everything that was broken and i received it like that. i havent owned one IPS display device without having light bleed.
PS. i have the xperia x, non performance.
No light bleed here. You're talking bottom of screen above speaker?

im talking about the very bottom right part of the bezel. think of it as if you had a white tool bar at the very bottom, you would notice it on the right edge of the screen, on the bottom portion. it goes up about half an inch. I would get it replaced, but then id be without a phone and i only really notice it if im looking for it.. still bugs me with my OCD though

I'm looking and don't see it. My only issue which doesn't affect functionality and that I ignore is that my front camera isn't quite centered in the opening. It's slightly shifted to the right. It's weird because when I check the phone I don't see any gaps even with a flashlight. But no big deal.

All I have is a row of very faint light dark light dark light....... along the bottom from one end to the other, I think its just the row of LED along the bottom, I have check many units from friends and display model, they all have this.
But since it's very faint and only shows with white or beige background, it isn't important and I don't think its a defect.

If you open diagnostics, screen test and look at the full white page.. Do you notice light in the bottom of each corner? (not the top ones, but bottom). I just got my replacement because it was bothering me on my last unit.. this one has the EXACT issue, in the exact spots (more noticable on the right side). a pure black screen looks perfect though? i just think that is so odd.
also, i do notice the black strip you're talking about, i think it has to do with those leds being visable

This issue isn't bothing me, but there is a problem I have noticed, not sure if it was their during my purchase or it suddenly just popped out, but in a white screen I do have a patch about 3mm-4mm which is white that shows up, it's much whiter than the actual screen if you have white and also shows up in a biege background, I think it's what people are calling a light bleed I guess, it's on the bottom left corner about 10mm from the left and 15mm from the bottom.
I took it to a local xperia service center yesterday, and they say it could be two reasons behind it, either something is pressing on the back of the screen or a defective LCD panel, either way they say my warranty covers it, it's a shame as It was sort of a perfect screen free from any pixel problems that I find with many xperia phones.
I will have them to service it after my holiday in early October.

Excuse my edited picture above, here what im experiencing. looks way worse at night. more of an OCD thing, but it does bother me that i paid full price and whatnot. the light bleed actually goes across the whole bottom, not just the edges. just harder to see in this lightning (im at work)

Hey guys,
I already mentioned this in the German thread, however it may concern a couple of more people.
I just received my replacement. The reason I ordered one was I got 2-3 tiny little bright spots close to the top right corner on the display. Exactly they are located on the opposite side of the back camera. These pixels are brighter than all others. Though the spots are very tiny you can notice them e.g. if I look closely at the Google search bar on your home screen. It's not that they are disturbing me but I feel on a new device there should not be such issues. You never know how far this is going to get.
So, the today's device is made in Jan 2013 and it has the same spots. I want to ask if anyone of you has the same issue. Just download a pixel test app ( e.g. Dead Pixel Test by Ossibus Software) and look at that area at different angles and colors. I attached a picture to get a better feeling of what I mean.

Sometimes it is better not to go looking for these tiny flaws as often we find them.
LCD panels do have flaws, and a certain number will leave the factory with some broken pixels, some good information here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defective_pixel
Some applications claim to fix these pixels by flashing the screen with lots of colours, and they seem to work for some people, typically however the pixels are intermittently broken and would have probably just started working anyway!
Manufacturers of LCD panels let a certain amount of screens through with broken pixels simply because otherwise they would be throwing too many away and so their cost would be considerably higher.
I'm not sure if yours are broken pixels however. How are you seeing these? If you are cranking the brightness up to full and viewing a dark colour you can often see tiny pin holes of light, and this is just tiny flaws in the filters which are so thinly applied tiny breaks happen, which you wouldn't see in typical use. You'll never find a screen 100% perfect if it is this you are seeing.
What do you see if you have a dark black background and the phone on normal brightness? Pixels stuck in the "on" position would be very clearly visible. On a white background stuck "off" pixels would be clearly visible, either by showing a tiny black dot, or typically a dot of a different colour.
If you can't notice them in typical use, just don't go looking for them :good:
If they are stuck pixels you have been unlucky, and the only option is another RMA.
Regards
Phil
Had a "hot pixel" almost in the same place as yours when I got the phone is December. RMAed it and the replacement is looking good now.

This is good advice. My last 4 phones (captivate, atrix, gnex and N4) all had some kind of defect with the screen. Captivate had slight burn in, atrix and gnex had black spots that can be seen with brightness on lowest in dark room and my N4 has minor screen bleed under the camera.
Its not hard to find problems with LCDs if you look close enough but none of the defects i had could be seen with normal usage so i didnt bother to return them. There is a chance that you will get a replacement with worst defects not to mention all the hassle of having to do a rma. But then again this is xda where people freak out when they see a scratch on the screen.

Thanks, mate.
When it's black I only see light bleeding from the top. Therefore, they are not dead. I believe, during the manufacturing process a layer behind the the pixel gets damaged. I filed for another replacement. However, I don't think it'll get better.
Anyone else experiencing visible blacklight from the screen edges? I have a very pronounced strip of blacklight coming from my right hand side when viewing bright content from a slight angle. Compared to the other side, it looks like a defect.

It`s totally normal the led`s are not on the back, but on the side of the screen and a light guide channels the light across the screen, this is what happens on every lcd screen, the word back-light is an misnomer.
EDIT: so the white led`s are at the right side of the screen and light goes across the screen to the left side, that is why the light does not show on the left side as much.
But the light should not be excessive., if it is get it replaced.
John.
Yeah. I know that this is how edge led lit LCD's work. But does every H1 owner have this clearly visible strip along one edge?
I can see it to a much lesser extent on my father's H1.
My old HOX does not have this at all. The HOX screen even looks better as it seems like it is floating on the glass surface!

I have check my One five times for dead pixels and for backlight leakage and i saw nothing.
I just checked for backlight leakage again using lcdtest at full brightness though all the colors, and mine is very very slight, really nothing at all
Yours is quite bad, if it`s bothering you get an exchange, but you dont know what you will get.
EDIT : I had a HOX and the display was perfect, but after 2-3 days i had a yellow patch show up, and i returned it and got an S3 instead.

Thanks. Anyone else care to check their screens? I have the opportunity to send it in for a repair, but unsure if I want to be phoneless the next few weeks...
In my lower half of the screen I have a bright spot visible only on light background. My device is just a few days old. Anyone else encountered this? Should I worry about it?

Sorry this might seem silly, but have you checked that the lens is clean? Or maybe there is a bit of dust that has gotten inside the casing and onto the lens? I guess if it's bright enough, then you should be able to have it fixed on warranty.
The lens is part of the camera and has nothing to do with the screen. The screens are backlit by a source of light and mine has a bleed spot. I've seen this before on laptops too.
I think I have it too, left side, a little lower then the middle of the screen. It shows better in the brightest screen setting but it's still pretty discreet. I wouldn't worry about it.
talk.sonymobiledotcom/t5/Xperia-Z3-Compact/Lighter-spot-on-screen/m-p/855751
So, I sent the unit back and got a replacement. It was pretty annoying to me as I was constanlty distracted by the bright spot. The carrier (Orange Romania) was very cool about it and sent the replacement ahead to make the switch at my house so I wouldn't have to send it in, wait for them to verify the fault, sent a replacemet in a week or so and be left without a <propper> phone . Very pleased and so far I can't identify any faults.
I received my device today and after playing with it for a few hours, I noticed a light blob on the top-right side of the screen. Such a shame
Hopefully I'll get a replacement asap.
I have a similar spot, but it is in the right bottom corner. These spot seem to appear near the buttons. My theory is that by bending the phone something from the inside of the phone pushes against the display and creates the spots.
mine is from the left edge, thumb size. It's visible on dark background. Sony mobile displays are pure crap, the worst I've seen on any smartphone. Never buy Sony again!
Anyone else's display seem to have a yellowish tint? Mine seems very yellow looking at it straight on. But when I look at it angled either from the bottom or top it looks perfectly white with just a slight bluish tint. Either way it looks much better than yellow.
So what I'm trying to figure out is of I got a bad unit and if I should go get a new one. Only reason I am even considering not exchanging is the whole "scratchgate" bs.
Anyone care to weigh in?
BTW I have the 64gb black.

Comparing mine next to my LG g3 I noticed a yellow tint as well. Not a deal breaker for me as I rarely compare screen to screen but I've owned a gs2,gs3, and gs4 and there is always some yellowish tint discussion that pops up. You can keep exchanging until you get a more bluish tone but I don't have the energy any more lol. Screen still looks great to me!!
Blame AMOLED tech. Your options right now are a slightly yellow screen with generally more accurate color reproduction or a slightly blue screen with less accurate overall color reproduction but mildly more pleasant whites (to most people).
It wouldn't be a big deal but its really bad because its centered. By that I mean when I look at all the different sides from straight on I can tell they are more blueish and it makes the center look even more yellowed. I realize the amoleds generally run warmer in tone but it seems to me that the whole screen should at least carry the same tone from the same angle. Obviously because of the curved nature the color will shift on the actual edges of the screen but everything else ought to be the same color/tone.
Or am I totally off base here?

Doesn't really answer the question which is...
A: is it possible that my display is defective since it really only shows a warm yellow tone in the center most portion of the screen?
B: is this going to be true for all sgs6e's or is there a chance of having one where the tone is the same throughout the entire display face.
I understand color shifting and how is inevitable, but I would at least like my screen to have the same tone from top to bottom (obviously the edges will have a different tone done they are being seen at an angle when viewing the phone head on) rather than Top:Cold Middle:Warm Bottom:Cold
Sent from my Samsung GS6edge
Just turned on Adaptive Display which seems to make the whole screen more uniform in tone temperature however angles are still a bit of a..... well..... bi*** because they remind me of the pure white coloring I've grown to know so well. But I suppose this is far more livable than before which was almost unbearable (thanks OCD).
May still try to swap for a new unit in a week or so just to see if anything has changed.

I have s6 edge too (32gigs black) (Indian Variant) and I also have the same problem. Coming from note 4 so this yellowish tint really is deal breaker for me!
you sure it isnt the adaptive screen setting?
what I found is if you are using the adaptive screen mode and reading a webpage w/ lots of text, it sometimes will change the tint to warmer which ends up with a yellowish screen instead of white, which may cause you to think that the screen is yellow (thats what I thought the first time I saw it)
try to change the screen type to some other settings and see if that get you the white color?
I am having the same problem. I know it's a defective screen because I have two S6 Edges here.
My black sapphire 32 gb has a white screen
My new gold platinum 64 gb has a yellow screen and its very annoying. I'm probably gonna exchange it

Hello . Please do tell if you use a screen protector film or glass . Cause i have the exact same problem and everybody saye it's the protector but i dont think so . It happend after a bootloop and because the phone turned too hot before i download the stock rom i decided to put it in refrigerator. Battey ran out and when It realized it the phone was too cold maybe next to 0 degree . After the flash was done I noticed the color has changed . So I'm kinda unsure
Wanted to see if anyone else's phone did what mine is doing. On a white or Light color I can see a darker line going up the ride side of the display. If your using the stock keyboard it lines up with the return key. There's another line going across the upper part of the display going left to right. Here's the weird part, if it wasn't for this I would definitely just say the display burned in somehow. The shadow lines are only visible outside in the sunlight. When I got the phone I did a screen test app and all looked great, but I did the test inside so I don't know if it was always like this in sunlight and I didn't notice or it somehow broke itself since then. I checked all my apps to see if they lined up with the lines and I can't find any that do so I really don't think it's burned in. I should mention I'm using auto brigjtness.
TL;DR : take your phone outside, on auto brightness looking at a white or Light screen and let me know if you can see shadow lines on the right and top of the display so I know if I have to return mine or not, thanks.

Yes. Its mostly people talking about the pink blotches, but there are some that have the gradient lines that are more visible with a black/white screen. Basically, take your phone back and exchange it and pray you get a better display (and not a worse one).
