Note 5 FRP LOCK, phone doesnt open. - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i have note 5 (n920c) rooted. I recently installed adaway, and program requests to restart and i press restart button. After that now phone didnt open.It says custom binary blocked by FRP lock.Im searching internet since morning. Therefore, as i see flashing stock rom with odin works. Now ı have 6.0.1 N920CXXU2BPB9(18 february) version but this version changed now it is N920CXXS2BPE4. Should i flash the older version which is exactly same on my phone or newer version? OR what can i do else?

Newer version

That means you accidentally turned off OEM UnLock which you have to keep Turn on Find it In Settings>About Phone> Keep Clicking Build Number Until It Says Developer Mode On Then Go Back To The Setting First Panel And Look For Developer Options And Turn On OEM Unlock And Then You Should Have That Problem No More. Only Fix To Get Your Phone Back on Restore It To Stock Samsung Firmware Heres a video that teaches how to Unroot what you need to do to fix it: https://youtu.be/RRzIvcJDyEA After you do what the video tells you follow the setup screen and put you last google account you had before having that issue. Then Root your phone again if thats what you want but dont turn off Oem Unlock Ever again while been rooted cause samething will happen.
Install Latest version BTW

Error
Thanks for the post, I have been trying this for a few days without success.
I hit a couple of snags after being rooted and installing the modem image as per your instructions.
1. I can't disable knox, are there more details you can provide?
2. ssu doesn't run it says "unfortunately, SSU has stopped".
I went through the dialer options anyway just to see what would happen and it appears that I still get a invalid sim card without the ability to enter the unlock code.
I figured I would do all the steps again in order to have a clean install once it's all tested and working but no luck.
Also in the step where you say "1 Debug Screen -> 6 Phone Control -> 5 Simulation -> 2 SW Watchdog <--hit this 6 times" should I basically exit the dialer with back at that moment since going back many times doesn't get me back to the menu's?
One other question, I see this is android 4.2 if I do a firmware update from T-Mobile taking it to Lollipop will I loose the functionality of the phone/modem?
Thanks!

Which version are you on and is it L720 or l720t
Disabling k ow is part of supersu so just look up another way to root your device and when you root it it's should ask you if you want to disable know just hit ok and the watchdog thing it's OK just reboot .

L720, but it never asked to disable it. Running Android 5.0.1
Also, SSU doesn't run ( I'm guessing in Lollipop ).
So I got everything working on my L720T.. My only concern is that will I be stuck on 4.3 if I want to keep LTE? I noticed the ROM I installed was actually a T-Mobile rom, any chance I could use a Lollipop T-Mobile ROM? Or is this version made to work with L720/L720T?
Hi i bought the s4 at first i didn't know if it was rooted or not but further investigations i found out it was rooted. The phone doesn't have that ssu apk nor superuser.apk which is kinda odd i ran apps that require root access and they worked fine i didn't receive any pop ups to allow access or block. I want to install a rom for which i need to install a recovery now my question is do i have to root again?
Q. How do i know what modem is currently installed ?
Q. Also at first i could see my carrie's name in notification bar now i see sprint is it locked again i can still use my sim and i am getting signals
Pease help i'm new to flashing modems.
Thanks in advance

I did downgrade the modem 100% as the instructions state, but in the end the sim card doesn't work.
Running Lollipop 5.0.1 SSU won't run, so I can't do the "unlock" part.

You have to consider your warranty and carrier support if you root your phone.
I have rooted my phones hundreds of times without issues.
Pretty much everyone on this site I'm sure can say the same.
As long as you are careful to follow instructions you should be fine.

You are correct, I started in the download section of the instructions missing the first important part to downgrade first!
New Issue: Image provided IOdin executable fails several times, I use Odin so I'm familiar with the process, do you have an image onlY?
Let me ask you, once I go through the process can I upgrade to Lollipop OTA from TMobile or some other ROM without breaking the modem functionality?
Thanks!

This can be accomplished but not with his guide for he is missing some steps. Most likely copied and pasted from another thread found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530610
Use this ^ if you wish for a Domestic Unlock and a International Unlock.
Then if you want 4G LTE just follow this guides flashing of the M919 Stock ROM which is from the T-Mobile Galaxy S4.
Enjoy~

Thanks! This worked!!!, a few kinks and I may simply redo the process to be safe since there are a lot of steps.
If I put lolipop on here will I then trash it?
Since I'm not at the Ninja level on this, couldn't someone create a AOKP rom with a clean AOSP, drop in the drivers from the sprint phone ( which I beleive are really just the modem ) using the downgraded modem already unlocked and create a custom ROM? Then the user can get the benefits of keeping up with Android updates more frequently while using there hardware on the GSM platform? ( wow thats a long question )

Lollipop will work on it, the latest it has is the OD2 firmware which is Android 5.0.1 if I'm not mistaken. I'm using the exact one and it still works. As for custom roms, you can use any since the modem is just a plugin of a sort. So if you want to do that all you need is to stay on the MDC modem make sure you are unlocked and working with T-Mobile or what ever carrier. THEN flash over to the AOSP/AOKP or what ever rom you want and it should work. The only reason you need to be on stock firmware is to do the Unlocking via Dialer Secret codes. But after that you should be working perfectly fine with AOSP/AOKP. If I remember correctly there should be a GPE (Google Play Edition) rom somewhere in the Dev forum for GS4 have a look around!
Good luck.

Galaxy Note 5 N920V to N920 something else...

Morning there,
I've been reading all I've been able to since Monday here and also from search results in Google, but I still haven't got a clear idea if this is possible or not.
I live in UK and I've bought a new Galaxy Note 5, which I received last Saturday, the phone works fine, but it has a N920V firmware on it from Verizon US, and I want to get Android 7 on it.
Verizon hasn't updated the firmware for this phone since January this year, so no Android 7 on their network, at least I can't find any firmware on SamMobile.
I've downloaded Android 7 for it, but firmware N920C (for Turkey it seems...), I've tried to flash it with Odin v3.12.7, the phone has the FRP lock as OFF and I've gone into the developer options and turned ON usb debugging and OEM unlock, but Odin fails to flash it, I can still boot up the phone and use it as normal after Odin fails no issues, I just cannot flash it.
I don't want to root the phone, and I don't want to install any custom recovery or custom ROM either, I just want to install Android 7 and if possible have a firmware with less bloatware, hence I downloaded the N920C. I downloaded the latest N920C firmware available out of the 6 there is available, so if anyone here knows that I can use any of the other 5 and make it work I'll be happy anyway...
As always, many thanks for yourhelp in advance
Just contact me via whatsapp, and ill guide you. Because ive been pass the same problem with u.
+6282299180088
Can you explain it here? I don't use whatsup, sorry.
I've flahsed the phone with the latest Verizon firmware from SamMobile, I tried to flash it again with the N920C but didnt work.
Now with the latest Verizon firmware it always throws me an error when I restart the phone saying that the "SIM is not from Verizon", but still works on my EE SIM, so not too worried about that.
Also, I see now a red screen with Verizon name when I restart it, something I didnt have before....
Anyone knows how to get rid of these 2 things? or better even, how to flash the N920C firmware to it?
Thanks

Screen flickering, wifi not working, can't flash back to stock D8533, only D8503.

So my issue here is flashtool says that my phone's model is D8503, but it's the D8533 and it will not let me bypass that and flash the correct firmware.
Emma can see the phone as the correct model just fine but offers no flashing services.
Even in advanced mode there is no method to bypass model incompatibility.
I had previous flashed twrp and carbonrom, I'm not sure why that would change the device ID in flash mode.
As title says, screen flickers and wifi does not wish to work correctly regardless of firmware now.
I just got the phone today, and if I can't get stock firmware on it I can't see any other way to fix the issue.

Going back to Oem bootloader lock?

Hello,
I have the SM-N960F/DS phone who is presently Oem unlocked. Unfortunately, Google safety net fails with CTS profile mismatch because of this, and thus I can't use google pay.
If i turn Off Oem locked, what will be the consequence? I guess the device will get formatted, but is there any thing i should be aware about?
Thanks

In my case with my old Note 8 ( also my old Note 5 )
i was not rooted and i switched OEM unlock, on and off
(2 or 3 times over a period of time).
Nothing really "happened" My device was not "formatted" /factory reset. etc.
Further, i also noticed, that when i unlocked OEM, my Google Play store, had shown
in Play store settings, Play Protect Certification "device not certified"
However when i locked OEM, a day or so later, it showed "device certified"
(See example screenshot)
Good luck
Thanks. I did an OEM unlocked on my non-rooted phone and the device got formatted. Also, it now passes the safety net.

I have just spent a lot of time with my SM-N960F Anroid 10 'Q' and I have some input because others have found the date shift trick doesn't always work for them and it didn't work for me.
If you get part way through a TWRP reflash and root you will have broken the KNOX security. You can NEVER get it back, which is o.k if you accept what you lose and the benefits of TWRP, Root access, flashing a custom ROM without bloatware and lost warranty. You will save money on phone pay to.
You can download an App to test if KNOX is present or broken. When you power the phone you will either see the OEM Unlocking option missing or it's grayed out with the message saying it's unlocked. If it's grayed out your Note 9 is still useless because ODIN won't accept anything but genuine OE files. FASTBOOT seems unavailable too.
O.K so you flash back the OE firmware and the phone boots o.k but there's no OEM Unlocking option and ODIN still won't accept a non OE flash image like TWRP. You try the clock back tricks and it still doesn't appear. The time initially comes from the firmware file if the phone has been reset to factory defaults after reflash. If you change the phone time and turn it off, it boots back to the firmware date not that date -7 days.
To avoid downloads & updates I always reflash without a phone network SIM (no downloads via network) and with no wifi credentials. This is the problem and could explain why some can't get this to work and others (who still have active wifi or data over network) can.
Having done all the tricks to set the date back leaving it in manual and stopping automatic updates, I re-entered my wifi credentials. Within seconds there was a beep, the date updated (even in manual mode!) and the OEM boot option appeared unlocked in Developer options. Note: You will never get this come up with 'OEM bootloader locked' once KNOX is broken. Went on to ODIN and it now accepts the non-OE TWRP image and anything else.
Conclusion: There has to be a data connection when the phone either gets updated date 7 days later than the date you set from a time server, or gets something back from another (Samsung?) server to restore the missing OEM Bootloader option?? You don't have to wait 7 days either. The problem for many going through reflash is if they never saw OEM unlocked in Developer options they would't know it should be there and will give up sticking the OE firmware back when the missing entry will eventually come back 7 days later. I think after this I'll go back to my Nokia 3310.
I'm still curious as to why I get comms with adb but not FASTBOOT. Which only leaves ODIN as the flash tool for this phone.

N950XU (LDU) Flash Fail

Hey all. I decided to pick up a Note 8 Snapdragon variant LDU on eBay to see if I can get it to work on a stock rom. After researching through numerous posts on XDA and videos on YouTube, I took the plunge and decide to see for myself. I wanted to use a stock rom to get past the 70% battery cap on LDU's.
Some people claimed they were able to get it to run a stock rom and some failed. (Yes, this is a LDU. I bought it from a liquidator on eBay).
Here's exactly what I did (I've tried flashing many different roms, but to no avail).
1. Tried to enable OEM unlocking through developer options using date method = did not work.
2. Found me2151's thread on rooting Snapdragon variant of Note 8 = bootloop with QVPASS = 1 QVDONE = 1 prior to Samsung Note8 logo
3. Found a comment on me2151's thread saying they had the same bootloop... Solution was to check "phone bootloader update" (link here)
4. Tried above method in the comments and checked phone bootloader update = did not work, still on bootloop
5. Downloaded a stock rom for N950XU with Frija. ROM is N950USQS5CRL1, released 2018-12-27
6. Flashed the rom using ODIN v3.13.1_3B patched = did not work, "Security Error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator for additional support. Please note that repair/return for this issue may have additional cost."
7. I'm still able to go into download mode despite that error, but I have no idea what to flash now...
Any help is appreciated! Just want to get it to boot to Android, don't even care if it's the retail rom.
Hey ,I have the same issue, also bought the phone from a liquidator last week, Did you find any workaround?

We might have bought it from the same place then.
Which bootloader version is your phone on? If you didn't flash a newer ROM and is still on bootloader rev 1, then you may be able to fix it.
hi, i was able to remove modem fail error by flashing a modified version of cp file
