[Q] DOFT or Semi Bricked phone, Download mode possible.

Hey folks, yesterday i accidentally flashed a theme that didnt go well with my rom and now I am stuck on the bootscreen "Samsung Galaxy S" Logo....
anyways, my laptop recognizes the phone and I can also get into the download mode,
what are my options from here?
I need some kind of program like odin right?
- Also semi-flashing-noob here -
any help is GREATLY appreciated!!!
dont panic its no problem.
many of us get boot loops when flashing themes. do you have recovery mode ??
if so, try to flash the theme again, but before rebooting, wipe cache / dalvik cache and see if it boots then.
if not just do a factory reset. that should clear it up.
ODIN should be a last resort, sometimes it is not necessary to use.
thanks for the quick reply,
how do i get into recovery mode? the 3 button combo was volume up + home + power right?
cause i tried various combinations and could only get into the "Download mode"
yes volume up is recovery, volume down is download mode.
if recovery dont work, then you will need to use odin.
you will lose all your data so i hope you made a backup
there is a reset button under the back cover, in the middle of the camera and the speaker. this may fix your problem, but i have never tried it.

[Q] stuck in boot loop P1000

Good day everyone...
I have one Galaxy Tab P1000 here stuck in boot loop... I really don't know what happened before it got stuck into this loop but it was working fine, it got battery empty and when done charging, it got stuck in a boot loop already...
I have tried to go into stock recovery but the sad thing is that I can navigate through the menu but I can't press the OK button (the power button) to select anything to do. So I searched through the forum and tried a few things, the most notable would be trying to go back to safe stock in the Overcome thread, still it is in boot loop. I tried to go further by installing the overcome kernel... skipping the part where I'm supposed to go to the settings (because basically I cant go to the settings menu).... still I was able to install the kernel and even the Overcome ROM, sadly even with the MOD ROM its still in the boot loop , one thing to note though, when I go into the recovery mode in Overcome ROM I can press the OK button (power button), I mean it responds now and I can basically navigate through the recovery menu and select things from there... but It is still stuck in a boot loop
need some advice
Stock 3e OK button is actually the capacitive HOME button.
Your tab was responding the same in stock as in overcome.
Can't help you about the looping though.
Have you tired restocking again with pit file?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using xda app-developers app
tried the home button too but still no avail it wasnt responsive... i have made all the reflashing with the specific pit file needed it wont get out of the loop

steps
in CWM, wipe factory reset, cache, dalvik, everything that you can find.
flash kernel CWM6.0.4.5 (from download mode)
install a new rom.
choice_B
flash kernel TWRP2.3.5 (I think or some version similar) (from download mode)
it has some extra WIPE to delete BOOT, RECOVERY, SYSTEM, etc. WIPE them all. If you can manage this, it doesn't even LOOP.
install a new rom.
problem.
There is a TWRP that can't boot into recovery by VOL+_Power. Only can get in from home screen advanced reboot.
may be some other older TWRP can enter recovery, try to find one. I'm not so sure my self.
choice_C
if somehow you managed to boot into home screen, install apk (bootloader check) by chainfire (I think), I had previously experience some dev uses locked bootloader, which doesn't allow you to flash new rom properly.
btw do you know the 8 seconds power button to get a real shutdown?
thanks cx5 im gonna do try all the choices... real reset meaning a powercycle (8 sec hold of power button)
Good luck,
New advances, TWRP solved, now able to boot from VOL_UP+power. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48418252&postcount=365
Suggest to use @terenceng 's rom too, it has one of the highest free ram 487MB.
Another tip, if you hold power button forever it will boot loop forever.
i.e.
from shutdown
4 seconds will boot up (may be it's 3, anyway)
another 8 seconds will shutdown. (may be it's 7, anyway)
total is 12 seconds.
When I didn't have enough experience in counting the time accurately, I overshoot the 8 seconds shutdown to around 12 seconds and it boots up, and I think it is looping. But in fact it is not. I accidentally made it boot up. Hope you don't fall into this condition.
GT-P1000 are fantastic that it can surely shutdown, as long as the 8 sec rule is properly implemented. no more no less.
Then you can always go to download mode. overcome restock has always save my day. Good luck.

I forgot to say, locked bootloaders will STOP overcome restock. It will not allow it. Must use bootloader UNLOCK apk. Happened to me so many times in the past.

[Q] TWRP stuck in loop

Hello people,
I have an issue with my Phone (i9305) which came to exist doing a factory reset in the normal settings menu (not in recovery).
I rebooted in TWRP recovery, but it's stuck in boot (screen flashes "TEAMWIN" screen over and over)
I wanted to redo the TWRP using Odin3, but it doesn't reconize the phone.
I did find a helpfull post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974160&page=3 (top post, #21), but the boot with dubbel volume buttons doesn't do anything different for me (other device thing maybe, or what buttons do I all need to press, when to release??).
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get TWRP running normally again so I am not stuck with a brick?
Any help will be appreciated!

i9305 bricked. Vol UP button broken: can't go to DL mode

Hello,
I tried to flash twrp on a stock i9305 through Odin.
It initially seemed unsuccessful (rebooting to stock recovery) until i rooted the phone and flashed twrp again.
From twrp i then tried to flash RR rom but it refused (don't remember detailed message). I decided to give up and reboot.
The phone stays stuck on samsung logo.
I removed the battery. Restarted with 'home+volDown+power'
All i can get is the screen telling me to press VolUP to flash a ROM. My issue is that the VolUP button does not work.
I tried to remove it and press with a pin to no avail.
I can't use adb (not recognized)
Odin sees the phone but can not flash anything as the phone is not in DL mode...
Any ideas ?
Thanks a lot!

I suggest to get a USB jig. I've always one at home. Bought mine on eBay for about 2€. Just search the web.
Thanks. Just looked it up. I'll give it a shot :good:

Alcatel boot loop, recovery not working.

Greetings fellow nerds. I apologize if this thread is in the wrong forum. I didn't see the model of Alcatel I have within the selections.
So I'm dealing with an Alcatel Calypso that a friend of mine has that is stuck on a boot loop and will not go past the Android Go logo. We have tried to pull the battery and other troubleshooting steps but nothing works. Also, we are not able to boot to recovery to fac reset it. When we get to the menu with the option to select to boot to recovery, it just falls back into the loop.
Pressing the volume UP key, along with the power at startup, brings up the boot select menu but selecting fast boot makes it freeze up while Normal boot and recovery boot send it back to the loop.
This is a stock phone. No CFW or anything done to alter the OS. Just started to loop after a power up one morning. No recent updates or app downloads to speak of either.
Does anyone have any idea of anything we could try?? I also need to mention that my friend is in another location and does not have the ability to use a PC.
Any help is greatly appreciated as this is his only lifeline due to his current job and situation so I really need to fix this for him. Thank you!!
