My galaxy note kernel version is DXLC2 (malaysia)
Did I need to downgrade my kernel version frist???
I suggest you don't root your phone otherwise it will be too troublesome for you, i.e. do a lot of reading, keep up with development (which also need a lot of reading), fine tuning your custom ROM (which also need a lot of reading), the list will never ends (which unfortunately needs much reading as well!).

Yes, you should downgrade first in order to get root. Here's a little guide I wrote on how to do it, hope it helps:

Hey danwteik,
Indeed you need to do some further researching before proceed for rooting as I believe you don't want to screw your phone up.
But as long as you're prepared, you're OK. Am too a newbie to Android and after lots of research, I've successfully root & flash my phone to custom rom as well.
Just follow this guide from Ashwin, great step by step guide and you won't need to worry much as you can proceed as per the video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJjh6gi0Spw
Just like the firmware from the video, go download it from Dr Ketan's thread:

Hope that helps. *Malaysia Boleh*

questions regarding root
hi all xda guys,
I am new to droid and love it thus far...
after having my galaxy note for a few weeks and doing some reading, ive decided i want to root my phone to have the best working phone possible HOWEVER im completely clueless when it comes to being this technologically adept. so i hae a few questions as follow:
1. ive read the root thread and see that there are a few different options for rooting, in everyones opinion which is the best / easiest to perform the most basic root to unlock my phone, root it and be able to install custom items.
2. CWM i assume means clock work mod...what is this mod exactly? and why is it important to install along with the root?
3. my phone settings read that my kernel version is 2.6.35.11..one rooting option i believe requires you finding out which kernel your running and they list kernels as kk## etc. how do i figure out exacty which kernel I am if it only reads the previously listed kernel version?
4. what exactly does it mean when someone told me theyre going to instal custom kernels? ( i have a friend who just bought and rooted a new Samsung GS2 and im curious as to what this means)
5. i've read the rooting directions and watched videos posted and googled my brains out...does anyone know where i can go to find the most basic and simplest explanation and directions for rooting my GN? (if youre reading and got this far and saying the explaination in the root thread IS THE EASIEST it can be....i need something dumbed down to the level a 2 year old can understand....this stuff is mind-boggling confusing for me for some reason i cant wrap my head around the process or the concept)
6. i basically want to root my phone for these reasons
- to figure out and manage to make my phone use less running ram to run faster
- to be able to install or customize the phone to make my battery last longer
- to be able to do whatever it takes to tether my phone without having to pay for it in my data plan
-to be able to install or whatever it is that allows me to customize my phone (themes, fonts, icons, etc)
- to use my phone worldwide on different carriers without having to pay for unlocking, buying other sim cards etc.
- to install or whatever to have my phone do amazingly cool stuff. (this isnt as important as 1-5 but hey who doesnt want a phone that can do everything and then some?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP! i've googled it and asked friends and even have contacted someone on craigslist who offers a service for a nominal fee. but im smart and smart enough technologically speaking that i can figure it out.
i just need someone to sit down with me and explain everything step by step and answer my questions. PLEASE i'm willing to do anything and everything possible to learn and re-pay someone for their awesome-ness and sharing their intelligence.
someone something, please help a fellow user out.
*i'd even go so far as to pay-pal someone a few bucks or bake you a cake and ship it to you. im that serious.
please guys,
XDA rocks, droid rocks, YOU rock, just help me out...i've spent 5 days trolling xdas forums and other sites and forums and have just gotten more confused. someone dumb this down for me!

Yes, it does make a slight difference inasmuch it's a totally different phone from N7000. Look, it even has its own forum:

Edited: Argh, DrK, you beat me by a couple of seconds here.
Oh, till now our reviews were matching, now time too.

Hi,
I just got my Galaxy Note last week and would like to root it. I found the link below and would like to check with you guys first if they really work. I could not post on that thread for I'm a new member. I think some of you have posted in that thread too. Please help.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025&highlight=download+odin
About my phone:
Kernel Version: ...-N7000DXLC2-...
Android Version: 2.3.6
Model Number: GT-N7000
1.) Can I use the this:
3*Files No-Wipe N7000DXLC2_CSC_N7000OLBLC2 Singapore (16.03.2012)
2.) Can I use Odin3 v1.85?
3.) Can I still unroot after this?
4.) I just need the PDA file to gain root access and ensure No-Wipe?
Thanks in advance.
Bart
1.yes you can use it
2.yes
3.yes, flash with Stock ROM with PC odin, will unroot it.
4.Read installation guide on post from whr you downloading. I can add, dont flash CSC otherwise, it will wipe off data.
Hello Friends.
I am very keen on getting started with the Rooting process for my Galaxy Note. I have been reading and trying to comprehend the various methods of achieving root but it seems overwhelming and daunting.
I reiterate what I have stated in another thread, I am an infant in this domain. I feel much too confused presently and thus I humbly request you to please guide me one step at a time.
At the very beginning, I aspire to achieve two motives. They are -
1] Root my device
2] Back up the stock ROM
My device details are :
Model number
GT-N7000
Android version
2.3.6
Baseband version
N7000XXKK5
Kernel version
2.6.35.7-N7000XXKKA-CL726566
[email protected] #2
Build number
GINGERBREAD.XXKKA
I thank you in advance for continuing to have patience with me.
Hello Everyone, I'm completely new here as a member, but have been lurking around for some time. Long story short - I want to flash a new rom but have no idea onto which would be better, the three candidates are:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/orig-development/rom-jaguar-arise-lp-5-1-1-official-t3481937
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/orig-development/cr-5-1-carbonrom-t3529766
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/development/xz3c-x-p-e-r-e-n-c-e-r-o-m-t3513378
And I have no idea which would be best, fastest, most stable etc. as a daily driver. Also While reading around I couldn't find any information on any of these about how they handle the camera fisheye issue. So I ask you, XDA community, help me decide which should I use as my daily driver?
P.S. I have little to no flashing experience (flashed once, samsung galaxy young) so a guide of sorts (or maybe links?) would greatly appreciated.
For the first two you need an unlocked bootloader, and since you have no expirience with flashing sony mobiles start with third rom and build your knowledge ontop of that

That would make sense, but I'm more than willing to learn if it's worthwhile, the main issue is if effort is equal to gains. Also, I am reluctant to commit yet as my last flashing experience did take way too much time and before going there i want to make sure I can essentially "flash and forget" enjoying the new experience.
Thanks for the advice though!
Then going for the custom stock rom is the best choice, I'am now on AOXP and it was the best for me, I suggest looking it up
Hello!! I'm new here, but I wanted the help of some programmer ... I found a ROM for Zenfone GO ZC500tg of android 7.1.1 on the internet ... it is quite stable but it has a problem in the hardware that is that the camera Front does not work ... Can anyone fix this error? Thanks in advance!
Download: https://yadi.sk/d/tGRNFqDi3HntcK
Note: If there is any mistake in the language, it's because I'm Brazilian and you know where to translate.
Hello! Welcome to XDA!
Firstly, I doubt that anyone who really owns this phone and uses this website would be able to fix it. Try digging around in the website you found it or 4PDA - I found my tools of rooting there firstly(you may need to Google Translate the websites though, they're all in Russian).
Good luck!
Besides, as an ZC500TG user, I'd like to know whether the 7.1.1 build really work? Last time I've checked, it was only Lollipop based ROMS that didn't look fishy.
I tried to flash this rom,and then my screen can't touch
I can sure it's Android 7.1 because I can flash gapps 7.1
Dear people,
I bought my girlfriend's 5X from a shop which shipped it with the fake 8.5.6.0.0. Following a tutorial, I was able to install MIUI 7.9.7. I am interested in installing pure Android, she misses her Moto G experience. I have seen several tutorials with ports from the A1, but all seem to be only for mobiles without fake ROMs originally. Does anybody know how to install a nice stable (and ideally, updatable) A1 port? I am not aware I opened any bootloader or anything while I installed the MIUI 7.9.7. I also don't know if I need to be aware of different types of 5X, I don't know if it is like in Samsung with different processors. I am not very adept with MIUI, I have had mostly Nexus and Samsung mobiles myself.
Thank you very much in advance!

Hi. I am sorry but I am not that expert on Android. I can tell you, after following a couple of tutorials from here I was able to install Android One, so MIUI shouldn't be difficult. Mostly, you have to make sure your bootloader is open and then follow exact instructions.
Good luck!
So... Hello there people of the internet :silly:
I am totally new to all these Custom ROMs, Kernels and whatever the heck else is out there as well, which is why i´m extremely confused about the possibilities i might have.
Long story short: I am absolutely dissatisfied with MIUI so far although European laws affect my device. The amounts of trackers my PiHole blocks is just redicolous.
This is why I am in desperate need of assistance: I never had the urge to change my ROM on my old phones so far but MIUI drives me crazy.
Which custom ROM would you recommend to me? I´ve done some digging and came across Resurrection Remix, LineageOS, Pixel Experience and HavocOS but I am open for everything as long as it works.
Obviously I´d like some sort of privacy protection and interesting features.
As I´d describe myself as somebody who´s absolutely no idea about ROMs and all that (I´ve no clue why I should use another kernel but why not?) i am in desperate need of your assistance.
What is the most stable, beginner friendly ROM for my Mi8 out there? Do I have to keep an eye out for anything specific? And most importantly: How can I switch my ROM properly without risking the so called "hard brick"? (It sounds bad but ive no clue what the difference to a softbrick is. I mean: Brick is brick ) I also came across a Anti-Rollback. What do I have to look out for?
All in all
Please Help
Thank you very much in advance.

I'd suggest you to try Pixel Experience. You first need to unlock your bootloader, then flash TWRP and then flash the ROM. You won't risk any bricks if you follow the tutorials. If you want help feel free to DM me.
