Hi Guys,
Without root, what is the best way to back up my Note5 to do a complete restore?
I don't find android very clever at resets and restores (its weakest point) as half the apps don't get reinstalled automatically and the settings all need re-entering manually. I've tried helium but it doesn't do a complete job of it. I also back up Nova (using its own back up). Battery isn't great at the moment so want to start with a reset.
Any other good suggestions for checking whats sucking apps? I use GSAM at the moment...
thanks

My phone is working great but sometimes apps won't work or even remove easily to reinstall...I took on to much at once and probally botched a step somewhere. So I tried all wipes, factory reset and reflashed my radio and rom....but after I set up my phone, some of my apps and settings where still there....
Is it easy to restore to day 1 and then instals the apps 1 at a time? Is this worth the time or effort or even make sense? I sure wish my iPad had swype, lol
Thx in advance
Are you referring to the default apps, ie gmail amazon etc?
If so, these are on an optional .Zip install on some custom roms but are included for others.
And as for swype, the beta has opened again on their website. Just in case you didn't have it. Ha
Flash stopped working and was a pain to get it to.... Launcher pro won't work, even though I removed and re installed....I just wanted to start fresh....thx

A couple days ago my phone app started force closing immediately upon opening it every time. It doesn't work at all now. I am rooted, but I rooted weeks ago and this just started yesterday or the day before. I haven't messed with anything. The only thing that I have done is download apps from the play store... None of which 'should' mess with the phone app.
I have since downloaded an alternative dialer app which works, but I'd rather use stock. I tried rebooting, tried clearing the app's cache and data (in system settings - apps) and no luck.
Any help would be great. Either finding/fixing the issue or a way to reinstall the stock phone app? I am rooted and I believe write protection is off, which I had to do to install busybox. Thanks!

What version are you on. 4.2.2 or 4.4
There is a couple things i would try i have had to do it with other phone specially my old S3
1. restore from a backup when i the dialer was not FC
2. try reinstalling the dialer from the APK located here device/system/prvi-app/dialer.apk
3. pull the dialer.apk out of the correct stock ROM or recover img and replace the one located in the above folder and install it.
but to be honest option one is normally the best way to go and the fastest.
Thanks. I'm on 4.4. I'm going to try option 2 when i get home. I'm not exactly sure how to restore a backup on this phone yet being that i dont really have a recovery.
Edit: option 2 installed ok, but still force closes
let me get you the .apk from the restore img give me about a hour to download it and get you a link
also do you know how to use titanium backup if so i would install it and back up all user apps and data because you might have to do a factory reset. but if you backup with TB you and restore everything right back to ware you was

I have not long since got my HTC One (UK version of it makes any difference).
It is S-Off, bootlooader unlocked and rooted with TWRP 2.6.3 recovery but currently running stock firmware. I've had a play with ARHD and liked it. However it's a bit of a nause having to re download apps every time I update. The internet were I am is very slow so this takes time.
I know backup solutions exist however I get conflicting reports about the apps. Having come from an iPhone (which I still use as a work phone) I am looking for a backup solution that with either a brand new phone or a factory reset and a new/custom Rom I just hit restore and it puts all my apps data and settings as it was when I backed up. Including things like my layout in widget locker and nova launcher.
I was going to be using helium but then read that you still have to download the APK for all the apps again from Google so that seems a pretty defunct choice.
It's there an app which will backup my phone, I can remove this to my laptop. Then factory reset, reinstall the app (I'm assuming you have to do this) and then I put the backup back on the phone and restore it?
Cloud options are no use due to the slow internet.
Apologies if this has been covered before but I just can't seem to find a definitive answer.
Thanks in advance.

Titanium Backup
My wife has a Galaxy s5- ATT SM-g900a. Recently the phone randomly locks up and/or reboots. I have factory wiped it with the same results. I have done some reading but not sure where to start on fixing this problem. It looks like its got G900AUCS4DPH3 on it now. Is it possible one of the apps is causing this or is the OS or what should I do to remedy this. Thanks
If you have done a factory wipe, then it is not an app issue. After a factory wipe you should have been left with no apps and only the barebone OS, unless if you did a full restore. If that is the case, redo factory wipe without app restore and see if the issue continues. If it is fixed, install the apps one by one, starting from the ones that are the most important for her, and see if it brakes after installing any specific apps again. Good luck
BACKUP. Google does not backup properly. Note passwords. Note local data. Backup photos. ....
I just finished rooting in asus zenfone 4. after that i googled my phone's bloatware and delete some with titanium backup. This is where the beginning of the problem . After finished deleting, my phone can not display anything. Apps, menus, widgets, everything is gone. I started to panic and thought that I was removing programs that I should not have . Then I restart my phone and got stuck in bootloop. I googled how to restore the default application app and find out it could be done by flashing Zenfone 4 RAW. The instructions say I need to do factory reset and I already did. I can go into the setting menus, but that's it, the rest is still blank and i still can't open any apps. Then i continue flashing but ended up unsuccessfully. my phone is still bootlooping till now. Is there anything i can do to save my phone?
Thank you, i'm looking forward to any helpful response
