Hi All,
I have a vs980 that had no problems with T-Mobile until recently. I was running Xdabbebs v2.5 for awhile and decided to upgrade to the OTA 39A debloated by micro. After I installed that, my phone will not register on the tmobile network, no voice, data, mms. I even reverted back completely to vs980 stock 11A and still the same problem. I have tried my sim card in my wifes vs980 and it works perfectly fine with T-Mobile.
I have tried both in global and GMS/UMTS mode and nothing works. My imei is there and not a bunch of zeroes and under the 39A Debloated I can see all three T-Mobiles (LTE, GSM, WCMDA) listed if I search for networks but it wont register to any of them. Anyone have any idea why the phone is doing this?
The same thing happened to me just now. I'm gonna try flashing back to stock using a kdz

Could you explain more in debth what you did because I tried what you said and it worked with the verizonsim but when I put back my T-Mobile sim it didn't work again.
Thanks
Insert your sim, Turn off your phone. Leave it like that for couple hours and Turn it on.

Hello guys/girls,
I just got my Nexus 6 yesterday from Amazon and bought a new nano sim instead of my micro.
I immediately did a bootlocker unlock, root and twrp install and flashed chroma rom.
Everything went smooth the only problem is my data does not work.
I tried Catalyzm rom, I tried factory image from 5.11 up to 6.0.x, same issue!
I tried to flash different basebands, also APN reset/settings.
It says 'T mobile on top and it seems to be recognized.
Model is Xt1103 and currently on factory.
I'm out of ideas, anyone can help before I shoot this phone back to Amazon?

Seems to me you have a data connection, but no access to internet. Big change it has to do with settings. Does your wifi-internet work?
or ..... Your new sim card ! Does your provider something that blocks internet?
Yes, Wifi works like everything else. I get the message 'Sign into the T-mobile', once i click on it, it takes me to u.web2go.com with message: 'Your data plan does not work on this device' lol. My data has worked with any other phone.. Messing with APN has brought me to LTE but that !!!!! mark is still there.

Sounds like a plan issue. Call T-Mobile and see what they have to say about it.
APNs would only help you to get a connection. If their servers aren't allowing you to access the internet (what it sounds like) you won't be able to do anything from your end to bypass that.
Just an update. I went to T-Mobile they switch my SIM and it worked. bleh. Happy I can keep this phone /closed
just and update went to T-mobile got a sim switch and it worked. /closed
One fine day I used the Verizon's software upgrade assistant to reinstall the 23.21.49 as my phone was randomly restarting itself even in safe mode (also tried resetting the phone and left alone). Once Verizon software upgrade assistant reinstalled the software, am not able to use the phone at all (. SIM was not getting detected, WiFi not working. Googled about this issue and then realized that the IMEI is blank, Baseband version in About Phone is also unknown. Thought might be after unlocking the bootloader I might be able to fix this (some post mentioned that they have fixed by regenerating some MPB_001 in some root folder). Tried to unlock the bootloader, chatted with @jcase in Sunshine - he suggested me to flash the stock rom (SU4TL-49) again from 'https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=44740'. Flashed that but still same problem.
Interestingly my bluetooth was working. I used my friend's phone's data (bluetooth tethering) and installed Sunshine and unlocked bootloader (paid $25 ). Then flashed latest TWRP 3.0.2.0 and installed latest stable CM12.1 hoping that it might fix something. In CM12.1, my WiFi started working )) but it was still not detecting SIM, IMEI and Baseband were still blank/unknown.
Is there something else I can try or is it better to assume that the Turbo will die without tasting stock Android M? Need help!
Update: Left the phone alone for 3 days, and to my surprise baseband version is showing now!! Sim card detected, IMEI is showing! Only sad part is I already purchased another device, wasted money . Not sure how it fixed itself on it's own, anyways am loving it!
You might need another sim card. Unless you have tried your sim in another phone.

I just updated to the new BQL1 firmware and now my sim card is saying it is not registered on the network. I replaced the sim card and it was working until my battery died. I charged phone and turned it on and now sim card not registered on network again. I have reset network settings and toggled everything I know how to try to get it to work but nothing helps. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Sim was working fine on bqk5 firmware. Thanks.

I upgraded from G950USQU1AQG4 to G950USQS2BQL1 today and had the same issue. Even factory reset didn't work. Bootloader changed from 1 to 2 so going back wasn't an option for me. Registering a new sim card was the only option for me. I only tried a new sim card because the vzw site gave me this message while trying to re-activate the one i had been using:
HTML_COTENT_NOT_FOUND_FOR_CONTENT_KEY: devicechange_sim_aging_message
Glad i wasn't the only one who wasted a day with this crp.
Can we upgrade BQk1 to oreo?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I'd updated to Oreo from BQL1 and am trying to Odin back, but it keeps failing. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm using the 3.12.7 odin.
Thanks!
All good. Re-installed the samsung drivers and everything worked perfectly.

Try using Odin3 v3.12 PrinceComsy to roll back to GS950USQU2BQK5.
Also, did you activate the new sim card on the vz website first?
I'm pretty sure this is what I did...
Factory reset, shutdown, remove the old sim, activated the new sim online, insert the new sim into the s8, turn on the phone.

yeah the download was awful on it for me.
From what I have read in the ROM forums it appears that you can get around the Boost Mobile network lock by unlocking the bootloader and installing a Lineage based ROM. Can someone confirm this and does anyone know if you can get LTE support of AT&T and T-Mobile this way? Best Buy has them for 79 bucks right now and for that price it sounds like a cheap way of getting very usable backup phone/something to give to the 4th grader to have when she goes over to a friends house. Thanks.
Hey, did you ever get a confirmation on this? Im literally in the same boat, would like to find out!
I didnt read too much and I may be totally wrong, but a quick search told me that I would need to have a working LTE connection on Boost before attempting this, otherwise LTE would not work. If I have to buy a boost card, activate it, then go through all this, I might as well buy the unlocked version for a few bucks more..?
Thanks
Yes, I can confirm. Installing the latest unofficial LineageOS 14.1 on my XT1776 allowed it to finally recognize my Cricket (AT&T Wireless) SIM card. The OEM retail firmware, however, did not work.
Would you be able to link to the threads to install LineageOS? Did you need to activate on Boost before installing the LineageOS?

Just to give an update I bought one at Target with a best buy price match (I had some Target gift cards). Up and running with a T Mobile sim and Resurrection Remix in less than 45 minutes including download everything and installation minimal ADB and Motorola drivers. Coming from an LG G5 I am impressed at what 79 dollars buys. I was interested in an Honor 7x but is hard to justify the extra 125 bucks. Thanks to everyone for the great guides and help. The hardest part was figuring out how to eject the Boost mobile sim card.

Did you have to bootloader unlock and root first to do it? I just ordered a phone from BestBuy. I remember for the Moto E4 Verizon phones that you had remove the prepaid sim before you even power the phone on otherwise it gets locked to Verizon for 6 months. Any gotchas here?
BTW, anyone who want a stock rom, this might help? https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75968092&postcount=14

I'm not sure I ejected my sim before turning it on just to be safe.
Does anyone know if this phone once unlocked and LINEAGEOS is installed will work on Verizon?
I would think that it would be fine. It's no different than what I did except it's fir a different network. Mine works with t-Mobile and at&t sims. Haven't tried a Verizon one.

Verizon is CDMA, but I guess it should work since I think Sprint uses their network, too.
So just to confirm, do we have to activate Boost SIM and provision LTE first before unlocking bootloader and flashing LineageOS? The Lineage thread says LTE won't work if we don't provision LTE first before flashing.
I'm on T-Mobile currently and might switch to Cricket in the near future. Thanks.

I took the Boost Mobile SIM out and inserted my T-Mobile SIM before I even powered on the phone for the first time. Notification was there that showed it was invalid (as expected). I connected to my wifi and updated the OS to the latest one. I unlocked the bootloader in the OS setting and by getting the code from Motorolla. Installed TRWP, backed up the stock OS, wiped and installed LineageOS. SIM card worked on T-Mobile immediately and got LTE. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
EDIT: I'm working on another phone and I noticed after it's booted up and I'm past the new install setup steps that it looks like it's connecting to the Sprint network and provisioning even without the Boost SIM card installed. I connected the phone to my wifi during the initial setup so I can update the stock formware before unlocking. I have no idea if that matters. I'm guessing the Linage thread is correct. I suppose it would be bad to boot to fastboot first, unlock, flash recovery and flash lineage without ever first booting the phone up with the stock firmware.
