Is it possible to change model number - P8lite General

Hi guys,
A buddy of mine just bought a phone in the US and is now traying to use it here in Argentina. Apparently he got a model number that is not comptible with our networks, so it only connects to 2G and sometimes to 3G (he got ALE-L02 but apparently should have bought ALE-L23).
Is it possible to flash a new image in order to change the model number? Or are there actual hardware differences between these sub-models?
Thanks

Ale-02 have diferent processor and networks. Is a very diferent model.
ALE-23 is similar to ALE-21 and model can be changed but ALE-02 nop

So can I change it to ALE-L23? Or is it still different hardware?
Thanks

yes. Take a look at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p8lite/general/mega-thread-root-unbricking-updating-t3400994

In my case..my phones actual model is ALE-L02 but I I followed the step by step upgrade of ALE-L21 to MM..now my model is ALE-L21..I can upgrade my ALE-L02 w/any ALE-L21 firmware..problem is that..I dont know how to return to ALE-L02..lol

You just flash the corresponding ALE-L02 firmware...

Anyone know if I can update my phone without using the PC Companion software, when I check for updates on my phone it says none are available?
If you have rooted your device, you should be able to flash the new rom. But I don't know why you wouldn't want to use PC Companion.
The reason I didn't want to do that was because I am at work and didn't think I would need it on this pc and my home one, but I have now installed it here as well and it still says no updates available?
Yet according to the sony website it was released yesterday...

I'm getting seriously annoyed that the Sony website has now just been updated to say that in the UK the new firmware version is 434 but I've STILL not received any updates. I've never even received 350v2. What the hell?! Going to end up throwing the phone at the wall at this rate. My phone is unbranded, I don't get it.

When flashing with FlashTool, you don't need to hold power+vol down (or up?), just vol down on a completely turned off phone.

I have flashed my C6602 with C6603 firmware, and in INFO menu if i choose LTE it just switches back to GSM/WCDMA or what was previous choice.
Is there a place I can get the latest stock roms? I have xperia z which is on three network, would flashing the sony rom remove the branding? And if it does is the warranty lost then?
I know htc roms are available on a website but I can't find one for xperia z.
I want to flash it just because I still have not received the update, but do branded phones get the update at same time as unbranded ones?

Need Chinese EVA-AL00C00B168 / L19 ROM dual sim

Hi guys
Been playing around with the various roms here. Currently have what is supposed to be the L19 B138 firmware installed but it registers as L09 on my device (I suspect the reason is that it's not currently sold in that market).
While the firmware is great for Google integration it's lacking in dual sum management. The Chinese romantic allows for switching primary dims very nicely... not like the one I have now.
So if anyone has the stock Chinese rom to hand for the AL00 varient (3GB/32GB) please do share.
Thanks
Ps I've tried all four roms currently across the threads.

Help Needed P8Lite 02

Yo Guys. I got this phone today. want to upgrade to marsmallow. all i see is updates for firmwares that my phone doesnt have.
I know how to do everthing coz of my xperia m2. The thing is i hav ALE-L02C190B130 is the build number and the upgrade doesnt say if i can upgrade from this, theres no OTA coz im in South Africa... I would like to know if i can upgrade from that build number straight to andriod 6. all of the tut says b170 to upgrade.im confused. Shed some light please
I am also from sa with ale-l02 but mine is C190B120.
I have not upgraded to mm yet because of possibility of balong error which i encountered on my previous L02.
I am also am gonna try to get to 6.0 will tell you what happens. just remember to do nandroid of every partition on phone including boot. Cos when you flash these huawei updates from other countries it gives balong error which is kind of a pain in the ass to fix on our S.A devices.
Quick question tho which carrier are you on?.Cos im on telkom mobile and the devices from cellc and vodacom are ale-l21 according to huawei website.
And how did you get your bootloader unlock code?
You also can check for updates using the HiCare app.

dont limit yourself to this being the last question, ask anything you like. Some of us on XDA will not ridicule you for asking stuff that "you should have searched for"
anyways, no. youll be fine. that being said, if youre flashing firmware from a carrier that diffders from the carrier that it was originally set up for, youll need the modified version of Odin.
