Hi,
I have Note 9 T-Mobile version.
It currently runs Android 8.0.1 version.
But there is no options to update it to the latest one.
What should I do? Any way I can do it manually?
Thanks in advance.
Its should have that screen in settings if not check about phone

dont limit yourself to this being the last question, ask anything you like. Some of us on XDA will not ridicule you for asking stuff that "you should have searched for"
anyways, no. youll be fine. that being said, if youre flashing firmware from a carrier that diffders from the carrier that it was originally set up for, youll need the modified version of Odin.

Hey there, might be a simple question but I can't get a straight answer.
So I have a n920i from Singapore and want to be ready to unroot if marshmallow comes up. So I checked the firmware compilation on Sammobile. The question is, can I simply install any firmware for the n920i or do I have to take the exact matching one. Like... Can i take one from Australia instead of Singapore. Because the one from Singapore supports very little languages (only 3) by default.
Here's a screen of my current software.
I believe you can. I bought my 920i from eBay which is not aussie stocks and I just flash the Aussie firmware. So far it has been working great not a single issues.
Oh, I have the Australia N920I and was thinking of flashing the singapore N920I firmware because it is the latest. Anyone do this?

The country of the firmware doesn't matter, if it is for your device model it should work fine.

Sorry I really don't know... but like the others say, it should work.
Of your using the Australian one... Could you confirm that there's the German language file pre installed?
You can install any other firmware but make sure that firmware you getting matching firmware for 920i
Just check out from sammobile

I believe the Aussie is newer than the Singapore version at least that's what I have checked at Sammobile recently. Anyway I just flash the Aussie thought maybe it's better since I'm using the phone locally baseband wise.
The Aussie version latest firmware is aug. 10, 2015.
The Singapore latest firmware version is October 2015. Am I seeing this wrong?

thank you! I Dont want to do a full stock/ wipe install of the new firmware. Is there a way to get this latest firmware on the ROM I am running now to just get the latest firmware and not wipe everything?

If you just flash the firmware file using Odin you will not lose any data. I have done this numerous times.[/QUOTE]
Thank you so much for your time and your answer. Which one is the firmware only?
There are four files in the zip? I am assuming the firmware is the AP?

If you are referring to non carrier then you should just install the xsa or Australia only. Not the optus or voda. By the way firmware is the stock rom you downloaded from the Sammobile.
I have the non carrier n920i Australia. I downloaded the full firmware and there were 4 files inside. Bl, ap, CSC, and cp. Do I need to flash just 1file or all. Sorry and thanks for your help

I just meant not wiping the phone or data first. I have flashed three or four firmware versions and never lost data as long as I didn't wipe.
Edit: I have not flashed any firmware from a different region though.

I would flash the entire firmware. I am pretty sure if you mix and match parts of firmware it will trip Knox. At the very least it will break things like Google Play Movies & TV. At least it broke mine.

I believe you can flash different region as long as for they are the same model such as n920i or c..or g. ..or whatever model is.
And yes you are right. ..why take the risk in messing up your phone when it is better to just flashing the whole firmware rather than part here and there.
So that means it would be possible for me to just flash a marshmallow firmware if available and have done? Without wiping and stuff I mean...

You can but some settings could cause issues if you go to a different version of android without wiping (ie 4.4.x to 5.0.x or 5.1.x to 6.0.x) which is why I always wipe between versions and recommend others do so
I've got the N920I Singapore version, flashed AU FW several times, back and forth between Sing and Aus. So long as you have a N920I no issues with any of the FW. Make sure you flash using the latest 3.10.7 Odin though. Older version do not work
Thank u all for your quick and precise responses!

It's really all personal preference....but both devices can be flashed with either firmware...same...I have flashed the SPR, XAS, and ran the unlocked firmware XAA...I'm sticking with the unlocked firmware XAA because of the download booster but either device can do any of the firmware for you...
Can you show me the link for the Unlocked Firmware download ? It was recently taken down.. So I can basically keep the sprint and debloat it with no problems ?
Just registered with Sammobile and downloaded the Unknown XAS for my Sprint (SM-N950U).. So the Sprint bloatware automatically will be deleted, per following the download instructions ?

If the bloatware is all you're trying to remove you can do that with either Package Disabler Pro or BK Disabler. I use the latter but either gives you the ability to debloat or disable pretty much anything on the phone whether it be on the system side or the installed side. Most people get Unlocked for the freedom to take their device to any carrier without having to use their branded phones or for going overseas and not getting killed by carrier overages. But if it's just bloatware that can easily be removed with either of the options above and you won't need root either. I removed a lot of mine and between that and changing my animations to .5 in Developer Options my phone FLIES.
Ok quick question, will the Unlocked Note 8 (N950F) work on the Sprint Network without any issues and if so what would those be?

If you use the modified Prince Comsy Odin you should be able to.
Make sure you edit the Odin config file's UMS/Patch setting from 0 to 1.
Load as follows:
BL file in BL slot,
AP file in AP slot,
CP file in CP slot,
CSC file in CSC Slot (not HOME_CSC),
UMS slot empty....the userdata file is in the AP for the Unlocked software.
Hope this helps,

I want to get the note 8 unlocked from bestbuy and use it on sprint as well. I've been away from android for 2 years. If I flash the sprint firmware will I get regular sprint updates or will I have to manually update the firmware when it's released. I mainly want to do the sprint firmware bc of the visual voicemail(I didn't like google voice with my unlocked nexus 6) or what other options do I have? I've been reading around and the unlocked version has wifi-calling built in correct? Sorry for so many questions didn't know if I should start a new thread or not.

Hello. I'm from Pakistan and have a Chinese varient of Motorola one power model number 1942-1. My device has not received any update after September update.
My question is, that can i flash the updates of Indian variant 1942-2 on my device. Will it be safe??? As the build number of September update of both devices is same, kernel version is also same, only the baseband version is different.
And frequency bands in India and Pakistan are same.
I have added screenshot below, the first one is of my device and the other one is of Indian variant. Please need help regarding this issue. I want to update My phone. Kindly respected developers answer that is it safe to do or not? What will be the consequences.

I've read somewhere that Samsung can somehow detect when you flash a firmware from a different model, and blocks OTA updates. Is it true?

Thanks Trex for the answer. Not what I was hoping for but yeah... flashing with Odin doesn't take that long anyway

I've switched back and fort and never had an issue getting OTA. It's weird that some folks are affected that way and others are not.
Honestly N960W is almost similar to stock android, you get stock caller ID & block, Samsung cloud, and security features which are not available in carrier roms, All of carrier rom comes with bloatwares on them as well.

If you are okay with Andriod 10 thats fine as you won't be getting any more android update on note 9, so its totally fine even if you not getting any OTA updates

Unfortunately, the stock Videotron "w" rom my phone comes with has some carrier crap (un-deleteable bookmarks and apps mostly, related to different media companies/newspapers belonging to Videotron's owner like an app called J5, Journal de Montreal/Quebec bookmarks, etc.)
The U1 ROM is 100% clean

I was thinking of converting my Fido N960W to U1 also. Is there a particular guide you followed?

No just download the latest U1 rom and flash it with the patched version of Odin here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
That will factory reset your device though so backup your stuff first
And to answer the question I've asked in this thread, I've received the February OTA update a few days ago

Great! Thanks for your help.
Is it better to use HOME_CSC_ or CSC_ when going from 960W to U1?
