[Q] kindle fire Hd 7

I recently purchased a kindle fire hd 7 version 7.3.1 which i am looking to install cm10.1 on. i have read through many threads and have download all the needed files to undertake this project. the only problem that i have encountered which proves to be very troublesome is loading my kindle into fastboot mode. can any one help me with this problem? thank you.
Why are u trying to get into fast boot mode? You should only need adb to back it up then use fire flash to put 2nd bootloader and twrp on it, then transfer over the cm 10.1 images for flashing from twrp. That's it in a nutshell. Fast boot it only for if you brick it in the process, which in most cases you will need a factory cable to get it into fast boot mode.
To be more specific about this read seokhuns awesome guide, but follow it to the tee or u may get a red screen on your bootloader to which you will need a factory cable to fix.

i did take the risk and try it and it did work twrp in successfully installed now im trying to install cm10.1 after i wipe the system, factory reset cache, Dalvik cache and proceed to installing cm10.1 it says failed.. can you help me? thanks
After u have the zip file on your sdcard I suggest using es file explorer to check the files properties and calculate its md5sum and compare it to the md5sum on the download link. If they match up then it should be working, if not it just didn't probably transfer or DL right.
U will probably need to flash a modded stock image of kindle os if you didn't back up your os first, so your kindle has an os to boot into. By modded stock image I mean that on the kindle android development forums there are a few modded stocks that come rooted without reflashing the stock boot loader and recovery plus have ota disabled. Makes things easier so you don't need to reflash the boot loader and twrp and reroot.

thanks kindle fire up and running cm10.1 and google appps .. i change my usb cable and re downloaded the files and then it worked
Many work with cm10.1 kfhd7 of Hashcode .
I installed 2nd bootloader on 7.3.1 but I forgot to disable auto-updates and I woke up to 7.4.3 and lost root and 2nd boot. I managed to root It again but i'm kinda scared to install the bootloader. I think I'm gonna wait until someone verifies and it's ok.

Notes:
This tool is designed to work for Amazon OS version 8.4.6. So,using it on any other software might get you into a bootloop, but TWRP recovery and Freedom-boot will work.Because of this,it is recommended to do the following things before using this tool:
Rooting the device.
Backing up any important data.
Placing the ROM and GApps zips on the sdcard in case you get a bootloop,so that you can just flash those in recovery after doing a complete wipe.
Preparing to lose the Amazon OS

Not a single reply? Thanks for the tool.
So, the option to flash Freedom boot and TWRP can only be done from within the OS, huh? Is there a way to do it in fastboot?

Well, the flashing IS done in fastboot by my tool. If you want to flash in the OS,you'll have to use either FireFlash (search for it) or the terminal emulator.
For the TE:
Code:
flash boot kfhd8-u-boot-prod-8.1.4.bin
flash bootloader <filename>.img
flash recovery <filename>.img
reboot
The 8.1.4 bootloader downgrade is to prevent red screens.

You have to disable the driver signature enforcement. Google it. I don't use Windows 8,so I don't know the details.

I think it avoided flashing the 8.2.3 bootloader. I'll take down the download links and have a look. You'll need a fastboot cable.

Safin thanks for your reply. Trying to figure out the issue I manually loaded uboot 8.1.4, twrp 2.7 and freedom 8.4.6 while in fastboot. now I get the kindle fire logo, but it appears to be stuck in a bootloop (let it sit for 6 or 7 minutes with no change). After reading other posts, I'm concerned that when I rooted my KF because I had the latest OTA that the root actually didn't work, so whatever was loaded with the stack didn't take place.
I'll keep messing around today and let you know if anything changes. Also please let me know if you have any ideas.
just to keep you updated:
used fastboot to push the stock boot and recovery found in hashcodes tutorial.
kindle now boots up, and isn't sluggish (like it was after trying the root method on this website).
used the onemelia system.img file he includes in his recovery tool for the image.
checking now to see if his system.img did indeed included superuser access. i'll update.
---------- Post added 9th July 2014 at 12:33 AM ---------- Previous post was 8th July 2014 at 11:58 PM ----------
OK.
I'm on CM11 now.
the system.img of onemeila is indeed pre-rooted and its 8.1.4
First step for the newest firmware is to revert back to 8.1.4 (with that system img its pre-rooted) and then proceed with the rest of your script.
so:
boot into fastboot> flash onemeila system.img (system1.img in his files)
check root
(turn off wifi, freaking thing updated while i was pushing files, so i had to start from scratch as it killed root)
and then the process as described by hashcode in his tutorial.
hope this helps.

If it was sluggish after rooting, the problem was in the root, not my tool.

The fail-safe way is to downgrade it all the way to 7.2.3. Then, just flash freedom boot and TWRP.

Ok I tried to downgrade it several times to 7.2.3 but after the kindle reboots under device it says 7.4.9 I don't understand why it doesn't downgrade.
makes no sense.... Thanks for replying back.
If you downgraded with kffa or SRT it shouldn't have done that, basically as long as you have root access you can install 2nd bootloader + twrp, just use the fire flash method that downgrades the bootloader first and it should work fine.

Is there a "KFHD System.img Restore Tool" for Kindle Fire HD 8.9?

I just got my blacklisted Kindle Fire HD 8.9 today and want to flash a custom ROM. I did the 7 with this a while back but forgot how I did it. I do have a fastboot cable. I tried that KFFirstAide64 but I never get it to root, I gave up on it on the 7 and succeeded with the KFHD System.img Restore Tool, can I do this with the 8.9 also?
You can still use kffa but you need to edit the bat file. Add the following to every wget line.
--no-check-certificate
You will then be able to flash the pre-rooted images

Yes. You should try searching next time. It's located in the 8.9 development section.

MiFlashTool and MiFlashPro are basic tools.
SP FLASH TOOL is the advanced tool.
