S7 Flip wallet cover. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

Hey,i've bought a new wallet cover and this might seem dumb, but i really confuses me.
It's nice,it's an official one,it appears in the "accesories" tab,but the pocket doesnt seem to have an intrance. It has that line, but no entrance. And i can feel that there is a pocket for the card, but i really don-'t know how to reach it.
I did not read the papers...,who does that for a CASE?
Do i need to do something for it to open or it's just one of a kind who has no entrance?

I picked one of these up at Radio Shack yesterday, because I am tired of the original case. The Athena/Advantage fits perfectly with/without the keyboard. Without the keyboard it slides in and out very well. With the keyboard, like any new case it is a little snug, but after one day of use, it works wonderfully.
The front flap is magnetized and remains closed. The only true draw back is that there is no belt clip. This will be remedied today by going to the alteration shop and having them put a belt loop on it for me.
If anyone wants some pictures of it in with the Athena/Advantage in use let me know and I'll post. Time to get ready for work.

I agree you need a belt clip and it as eaglesteve pointed out, it doesn't. I am having problems getting the photos I took with the device inside the case posted, but I'm not giving up yet. Darn sony memory cards won't fit into standard laptop sd/mmc/cf slots. Time to get an adapter.

New case!

OK then,
I was going to get a new housing for my sad looking Ameo. They come in the standard Ameo silver or a rather smart HTC black. I already have a silver case, but here is the question.
Do the black housings, wear, scratch, or paint rub away easy? I don't want to get one and find it looks crap after six months. They ain't cheap! before anyone else says it, I know it depends how you treat it. I'm on about normal wear and tear use. How does yours look now? are there any signs of the metal underneath showing?
Regards
Jay
Black Case On The "advantage"...
Hey Jay,
I have a HTC Advantage x7501, with the black case of course, and have been using it with "typical" every-day use now for about 6 months. I have never even seen one of the silver cased "Ameo" versions of the device in person, so my review is a bit "one-sided," if you will... Also, I have a friend with whom I work with that also owns the same model as I. With saying all that, and without having experienced the silver model, I would bet the silver model would hold up a bit better on the finish due to the fact that if the silver gets scratched, the metal beneath it looks much closer to the silver finish than the black. I have a couple small blemishes on mine, and I am very particular with my mobile devices, but after using day-by-day at work and home, it has managed to get marked up just a bit. The biggest problem is, if you get a scratch on it, the metal below sticks out "like a sore thumb!"
I definitely believe that the black finish is a bit more professional looking, where sometimes the silver finishes can make a device look cheap or make it stand out.
Anyways, to give you my honest account on TWO Advantage x7501 devices (black finish) after 6 or so months of daily use, it is overall good, and neither one shows any major signs of wearing finish. Also, we both use a case that the device "slides" tightly in and out of each time you use it (without the keyboard attatched), and the device really hasn't shown any real signs of wear on the sides where it rubs the case. However, if you do happen to mark it up in any way, you will definitely notice it. Again, I am very picky, so keep that in mind, but so you have a better idea of what I am saying, I attatched a couple of pics so you can see what it looks like when or if you do scratch or mark it.
HOPE THIS HELPS!!!
-Ryan
Also Note: Only one of the devices I wrote about is pictured, but are very similar in condition, and were both purchased slightly used.
X7501 Cosmetics...
I have had my X7501 for almost 10 months now and it only has one very tiny mark on the top right corner (you have to look hard to even see it).
Since I'm also very particular about my devices (I always keep them looking new) I just used a Sharpie (permanent marking pen) to "erase" the offending mark. This works great and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to touch-up black anodized aluminum like the Athena housing.
Wow! thanks for the reply Guys, Ryan that was one hell of a reply. Must have took you a while to do that and I appreciate it. toyfreak, the idea with the marker pen is a great one. I think on just that idea alone I will get black. Its harder to touch up silver! It looks better too.
Regards
Jay
Indeed is surprisingly hard coating, I carry mine in my pockets and can't say I'm careful with it, rather the opposite, I have it since it came out and there is only a little wear in one of the corners, hardly noticeable, where the scratches are more visible, is on the silver border next to the screen, not that it look bad or anything.
Black housing - Where?
I would like to know where you can buy a black housing for your Ameo, mine needs a new one as well!
And what about your keyboard, can you get a black one too?

Silver / AMEO
Hi guys,
Proud owner of a wonderful brick since 6 months in grey color I should say that if I new I would have choosen a different color.
The grey AMEO housing is far from being "time resistant"...
Since few weeks the "video camera" around the front cam as disappeared and the "Alert" will soon do the same.
I allways take good care of my stuf and I'am bit disapointed for a 1.000 bucks machine to see it !

The X7501 does not have the internal or 2nd camera, the X7500 does. So I would have a big hole in my unit if I used that one. I don't know if the inside layout is any different but that's the only visible thing on the external end.
I need a new housing too.
Anychance you could PM me a link or contact for this.
Thanks in advance.

hi
you are talking about a extra case to protect the athena right?, the thread is about replacing the cover / housing of the athena itself, a step that becomes nesesary when you not use case like your nutshell .
anyhow (and to really come back to subject ) i have to replace my housing too and wonder, why nobody can simply post the web/email adress of a reseller here?. i searched alot now an only find companies in asia and prices 'far away from reality', so if someone know a good reseler please post here.

[Q]third party back covers ?

i had this thing on my mind ! .. what if some third party company does a very durable and good cover just like the ones made by HTC ! just to replace the plastic-y one on the nexus S !
i mean is it possible ! and would you buy it ?! : D
I can't see why they couldn't make it.
I wouldn't buy one since I will be using a case. Once that case is on, the phone will feel solid for me.
I say no, why? Cuz the NFC reader is on the battery cover itself! Anandtech has a video review and they showed it. The NFC is glued or something onto the battery cover and there are 2 tiny metal contact points that connect onto the back of the phone.
I doubt any third party covers going to come out and tell you to rip out the NFC reader and try to paste it back exactly right.
isnt just a aerial for the chip thats in the back not the chip it self?
well it's only one feature that's still not widely spread to lose ! i'd trade it for a good quality battery cover !
it's also ok i think to keep the NFC cover with u wherever u go just in case u need it !
^ providied it's the chip not an antenna or watever : D

The atenna on the covers are probably like $.50 at most, third party mfgs will to incorporate them.
yeah i agree... If there were compatible replacement back covers made from either steel like Moto or good quality rubberised plastic like HTC, i would definitely get the Nexus S.... Otherwise i'll wait for the moto olympus
joey3002 on the Evo forums ended up producing a bunch of covers simply because he wanted to. Granted the inside of the Evo is way cooler than the NS, but if you want it enough it can be done.

My homemade book case

After realizing I didn't like my $5 dollar velcro sleeve and not willing to spend $50 on a Portenzo or anything like that I set out to make my own book case. There's multiple instructions online how to hollow out a book but they're all basically the same. This is the most detailed http://rive.rs/projects/how-to-hollow-out-a-book and I mostly followed it but I didn't save a page at first so whatever. You can also tell I didn't do as good a job because I wasn't as clean on the corners and didn't take a lot of time. I also cut into the back a little but it's ok I might even paste a page back there to cover it up.
I'm not sure I'd suggest the sketchbook I bought because it's one of the Nepal Lokta ones and they have kind of "fuzzy" pages. If you're wondering a Moleskine notebook is too small. Just go to any book store and look at the hardcover journals/books. Books are actually cheaper because they have like $5 dollar bins and whatever but you have to like the cover of the book. I payed $13 for the sketchbook.
I'm also thinking of adding either an elastic band or magnets to secure it. Probably an elastic band because I'd have to cut some more to make a hole for the magnet.

It doesn't stay in there, I don't like having a case always on so I just pick up out of the book when I want to use it. I've seen other book cases for Kindles or Nooks that use elastic bands on the corners to keep it in if you want it that way.

NVM I see your response that you take the N7 out of the case when you use it. I thought it was wedged in there and kept in place with some sort of rubber inserts in the corners to keep it from slipping out. My bad. :silly:

hm, if you don't mind, I'd recommend putting some thin foam-pads (the stuff the use to do for packaging) which might reduce the movement of the nexus while in the case? And it might give you a little bit of extra protection

I'm kicking myself a little for throwing out the foam insert that came in the package away but it's not that bad. It's barely loose so I'm not worried about that and for protection once I have the cover stay closed it shouldn't be bad at all. I could also line the inside with felt or something.

Review: Artech-21 Full Grain Leather Wallet Case

Hello fellow XDAers,
I was chosen to write a review for Artech's new product, which is a full leather wallet for our beloved G4's. Please see Amazon's link for the full product description:
http://www.amazon.com/Artech-21-Pre...qid=1433632855&sr=8-1&keywords=artech+case+g4
From the moment you open the package, the scent of real leather overcomes all of your other senses. The shipment arrived with bubble wrap within the envelope, with Styrofoam foam packaged within to prevent the wallet from being crushed during shipment. Upon closer examination, it is easy to tell that the leather is of premium grade by sight, if not by touch.
The fitment of the phone and credit card is superb. Once you slip your phone into position, the case holds onto it for its dear life. I attempted to "yank" it out of position to see how easily the phone would fall out if I were to take the case in and out of my pocket, but it's almost like the phone is completely locked into the slot. It feels extremely secure, thus, I would not worry about the phone slipping out for any reasons, accidental or not. The two credit card slots, as well as the transparent slot for the ID card fits nicely, yet, it allows for you to easily remove them from its slots in order for the cards to be used (swiped). The transparent ID slot has a hole for you to slide your finger to remove the ID from its slot.
The cutouts are literally perfect all around. The camera, volume buttons, flash, light sensors, speakers are perfectly aligned, while the headphone jack, charger port, the dual mics, and IR sensors are exposed for connectivity. All of which, still remains within the case to prevent damage, of course. The case closes with a magnetic clip that attaches on its own upon closing, and does not appear to be flimsy.
The case wallet is created based on "simplicity." It "only" allows two cards (three, if you include your ID), and would allow for just a few US bank (currency) notes. Personally, I'd give this a 4.75 star out of 5. The only reason is that I can't seem to fit bank notes without having to fold them. I can certainly understand that many people do not carry cash, and I do not often do it either. However, this is a wallet - and I would expect a wallet to hold cash properly.
I haven't got mine yet. I'm expecting it tomorrow and will double around with another review as that was my promise. Look at all them 100's. Haha
Let me know if anyone is interested in this case. I only wanted to do the review on it, but I'd like to stick to my Ringke since it's great for working out.

Do credit cards give any danger to the screen such as pressing down on each other and rubbing against each other?
I've always worried that this kind of flip case might scratch the screen.

The cards have no chance to rub against each other - they are clearly separated. I do not see the cards scratching the screen upon closing or opening, however, I suppose there is always a chance of this when you're storing your phone with other items in your pocket/purse, etc. Due to the padding of the area around the cards, I want to say that it is probably safe on your screen.

Just wanted to thank Charlie again for his generosity.
I got the case and I'm impressed with the quality of the leather and the crafting. Definitely has the genuine leather smell and it looks like it would need to take a pretty severe beating to bend or crease or crack. As far as functionality, I don't think I'm going to use it as a full time wallet since I've just gotten to used to my own, but one of the reasons I like this case is I usually just toss my phone into my messenger bag/laptop bag for work so this case will definitely protect the phone from keys, pens, cables rubbing against it... etc. or also if you ever put your phone down and worry about the surface being wet or dirty.
The plastic backing seems sturdy enough to keep the phone from shifting out or getting loose.
I will probably also end up buying the dark brown version. :good:
