Qualcomm quick charge 3.0 on N6 - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys ,
I was trying to find quick charge 2.0 but no luck, however 3.0 is easily available, so basically i wanted to ask that if i connect my nexus 6 on quick charge 3.0 will it act and perform like 2.0 as 3.0 is also backward compatible.
Sorry if this question has already been asked.
Anyone here using 3.0 on Nexus 6 ?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

My N6 quickcharges with the original charger.
QC stops wen the battery is 70% charged.
Never seen an app or Qualcomm thing.

I don't have a QC charger to check but, according to qualcomm, all previous QC 2.0 supported phones, such as the Nexus 6, are backward compatable with QC 3.0. They will just charge at QC 2.0 levels.

Now I understand the op-question.
What happens is that the charger start charging with a higher voltage (9 - 12 volt) when the battery is charged below 70%.

Do you have a source to back this up? Was looking at my amperage on the lockscreen while on the stock charger at 60% and it states 1500mah. Waited a while and checked again and battery is at 80% and it still states 1500mah.

My source is written on the original charger of the N6. The output:
Standard 5v 1,6 A
Turbo1 - 9v 1,6 A
Turbo2 - 12v 1,2A

Question, the qualcomm charger 2.0 has a 30w unit. . But there is 2 USB plugs on the wall charger are each individual port 15w a piece or are they 30w per each USB plug?
V.I.P

You can also use Accubattery to check the amperage used during charging and discharging.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery

Thats using an Aukey QC3.0 charger that i have plugged in all day every day, had to drain it a lil to take this screenshot. QC3.0 is fully backwards compatible along with 4.0 and as far as i know 5.0 will be the same way. They dont sell 2.0 really due to all future releases being fully backwards compatible.

Tronsmart USB rapid car charger, 2 port

This is my review of the Tronsmart USB rapid car charger. This is a Qualcomm 2.0 rapid charge charger with 2 ports. It comes with 2 USB cords as well in the box, which was a nice surprise. The Note 5 does recognize this as a "rapid charger".
I got the rapid charger to try out and compared it to an OEM Samsung USB charger. I found that the Tronsmart rapid charger charges at a rate of about 1% per minute. This is pretty good. If you take a 10 minute car ride, you will gain roughly 10% to 12% charge. This can be very useful to get a quick juice-up when needed. The Samsung charger charges at a slightly lower rate, about 7% charge gained over 10 minutes.
I should clarify that this testing was done with the phone around 70% to 80% charged already. I still plan on testing out the charge rate with a more drained battery (under 50%) and will report back as to how quickly it charges then.
The charger seems well built. It is nice and compact, and gives you not just the one rapid charge port, but 2. I highly recommend it. 10/10 here.

UPDATE: Just to let you all know how well the rapid charger works when the battery is low. In 15 minutes, my phone went from 19% to 41%. That is a 22% boost in just 15 minutes, which is about what a short drive around town would take for me. I am more than satisfied with that.

Nice charger, could you send the product link to me? Want to buy one. How about the quality of the cable?
I have the same charger and really like it. As someone who frequently travels with a couple Note 5's in the vehicle, this is a no-brainer. The USB cables are thick, 10/10 from me as well.

I have this charger as well and I confirm that both are rated QC 2.0.
Also, I can definately confirm that both USB cables are big-gauge (20 AWG!), high-quality cables.
I bought two of these off another review and they're great

Charging speed

To power up, you consume Red Bull. But your phone just needs its adaptive fast charger. Rate this thread to express how quickly the Sony Xperia Z5 can charge. A higher rating indicates that it charges extremely fast.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Take 2h30 with UCH20 and 2h with UCH10/Anker Powerport 18W, hope Sony would increase the limitation of current, it has been limited at 1555mA maximize.
Mine got 1.54hrs to full
with MM update,, I can get 1% to full about 2hrs, compared before in LP which I can only charge it in 2hrs and 20mins.. Im using Z5 Dual (E6683) btw and using a tronsmart 18w QC 2 fast charger (which isnt properly utilized by Z5)
Edit:

When phone is cold it gaves me up to 60% from depleted in 45 mins, maybe its not impressive as you said, but when u r in a hurry just plug it for 10 mins and gives you enough battery to get a couple of hours more, also is 60% against 40 with normal charger so is a must for a couple of bucks
My Quick Charge 2.0 / 3.0 plug says 'Charging rapidly' when used with my Z3 Tablet Compact, but does nothing fancy with my Z5. Fail
It is most reliable to measure from 0 to 90%, because from 90-100 it slows down significantly.
I once got from 2-72% in 68 minutes with the UCH10, so that's about 1% per minute. Not bad, way better than my previous HTC Butterfly s which took nearly 4 hours to charge is 3200mAh battery.
The voltage does increase so it is supporting QC 2.0 but not to its fullest potential - someone else here indicated that the Z5 doesn't use step-charging. Perhaps Sony restricted quick charging to minimize overheating.
The non-Quick Charge UCH20 performs pretty much the same, certainly within 10% charge rate on the Z5. I have another QC 2.0 charger that performs the same too.
Z5 just doesn't support quick charge.
Hey Guys, I saw this thread and just thought i'd share my knowledge on the Xperia Z5 (E6653).
Im sure most of you are already familiar with what i might say in my post. if that is the case.. then you are free to disregard and ignore this post .
1. Quick Charge 3.0 is not supported on this device.. And to be honest, you don't even need it.. "Why is that??" you may ask.. Here is the simple answer..
Using a 5v 2.1A USB Charging Adapter and a thick USB charging cable with a length of about 60cm (MAX) (shorter the better). Will charge your device fast enough... Believe me.. lol
2. Atleast once a week (Full charge your battery from a depleted state) - Dead battery, and while it is powered off.. Dont start charging it for only a few minutes and then turning it on.. LEAVE IT OFF (if you dont have any alarms set for the next morning etc)
3. Do NOT keep your device on charge while you're playing CPU and GPU intensive games.. IF your battery is at roughly 70% or Above.. UNPLUG the charger from your phone.. Or you will shorten the life span of your battery very quickly.. Because at 70% and Above charging speed slows down significantly to the point where if you're playing games your battery will keep discharging rather than charge because it's consuming more power than it can restore..
(Hence the damage to overall battery life span).
4. Last but not least.. Every so often.. If you're a power user (someone who always plays a shi*t load of games and has heaps of apps running in the background etc etc). Try to remember to Calibrate your battery every so often..
(Usually when you notice things like -----> Battery draining unusually faster than normal, Battery not holding charge as long as it use to, device heating up a little more than normal, charging isn't as fast or efficient anymore) etc..
Just a few things i thought i'd throw out there..
take care Ya'll..

When I called T-Mobile yesterday they advised me to turn off fast charging because of the possibility of the battery getting hot and exploding. I have always be cautious since day one and turned off fast charging because my phone would get warm but charges pretty fast without fast charging enabled. Also when I'm at work, I only use wireless charging even if it takes longer. What I noticed is that sometimes when I use wireless charging with the case it gives me issues so I take it off.
3.5 Ah battery capacity, fast charge should be around 2 Amps, take into account slower charge rate towards end, I would say OP is just where he should be, if started charging from empty. I've seen my phone going over 2A, sometimes, but that's like extra bonus. Also we don't know what's running in background, that could be affecting charge rate also.

If it is similar to Note 4 then fast charging kicked in from 0 to 50% with charging current around 1.6A and 9V and from 51 to 100% regular 2A and 5V to let battery recover. There should be specs on sticker on phone charger.

Charger for ZE550KL

My stock charger is not working anymore. The phone doesn't charge when connected to it. Anybody know any way to get a company original with reasonable price ?
Buy any new 2A charger. It will even charge your phone a little faster than the stock charger. I am using Samsung Galaxy Note 4 charger. It charges my Zenfone 2 Laser a bit faster due to its high power.

But when I use a 2 amp charger, after removing it from charger, the charge drops very quickly, even on standby. For me it lost 30 percent after 2 hours on standby. Also the phone gets heated up on charging. Now I use 1 amp samsung charger. It works fine and no problems. Battery backup is greater than ever and the phone does not heat up on charging. Try it.
For anyone in India still facing the problem, now I use a Jio-Fi router charger. 5 V and 1A. High quality product. Phone battery has no problem. Just like old times. Model ZE550KL (Z00L).

In the end of the graph after a blank(Switched off) and little charging time, I removed the charger and tried draining the battery, it went down from around 50% to 15-20% and came back again to 50% without any charging, it kept on happening for 3 to 5 times straight and i got sleepy in the end, then reset dalvik and cache, and it was normal again.
had a pretty fun time considering it's a 2 years old battery.

Pixel 4 XL Power Deliver 3.0 (PD 3.0)

Guys,
I understand that the Pixel 4 XL actually does support the PD 3.0 standard after all.
There is mixed information online including that the PD 3.0 was blocked last minute by Google prior to the release of the phone.
I found this topic that states that the Pixel 4 XL now does support PD 3.0.
Here is the article: https://gtrusted.com/google-pixel-4-xl#
Can anyone comment on this?
Has anyone tested PD 3.0 on the Pixel 4 XL?
If PD 3.0 works on the phone this will significantly improve charging times.
Any input is much appreciated.
Many thanks!
Only charges at 18w.
Used my wife's MacBook Pro 60w charger and my Aukey 60w charger to confirm with a USB-PD passthrough meter.
I charge my Pixel 4 XL with my Pixelbook Go charger (I believe it's 45W) and it's not any faster.

Officially tested my Pixelbook Go charger and it went from 3% to 84% in 60 minutes. I am 99% sure that the stock charger gets the same amount in 60 minutes. As you can see on the charger, the volts would be either 5 or 9 at it's lowest. The amount gained seems to be closer to the 5 volts. Only thing I would retest and compare is the 30 minutes because if it did support the 9 volt, it would use that at the lower percentage first and perhaps 30 minute top offs would gain more over the stock.
