I have a sprint Lg G4, usb debug is disabled I am trying to delete the gesture.key to bypass the pattern lock.
I tried installing Pattern-Password-disable.zip but no luck I get the error message e:footer is wrong
I can boot the phone into recovery mode and select "Apply update from ADB" once I select that option on my linux computer I can run "sudo add devices" this is what I get
List of devices attached
LGLS991afasffsd9432ae side load
how can I delete the gesture.key file from the phone using ADB.
I have the stock rom from sprint on the phone and no its not a root device.

I'm trying to pull and push my build.prop file because I think I borked either the line endings and/or the access permissions on it.
However, I can only get to the Android System Recovery <3e> screen.
When I type "adb devices" nothing shows up. If I choose "apply update from ADB", I can see the device, but I guess I cannot push/pull while it's in that side load mode.
Any thoughts/suggestions on how to use ADB to fix that build.prop file?
FYI: I am not tech savy at all so bare with me if I sound like a noob/idiot.
I basically formatted my phone from TWRP and I'm thinking there isn't any ROM/UI/kernel?..ect. so it cannot start up (basically stuck on the htc loading screen). My computer detects it but not as a storage device and I can't seem to find a way to access it. I believe I have what i need on my computer but my issue is that i dont know how to get into the internal storage of my htc one because it cannot detect it as a storage device on my computer.
The only trace of it at all i seem to be able to find is in
Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers
Its called "android 1.0" and when i click on it, it takes me to its properties from device manager.
It says Location: Port_#0001.Hub_#0008
I dont know if any of this info i gave is relevant, if not, let me know what ups.

Here is some reading material for you
Bro..I completely understand your predicament..
Just do this step by step
1. Download minimal adb from the internet and install it on your PC.
2. Download twrp image from the internet.this is a recovery loader.
3.copy the image file into the install directory of minimal adb.
4.execute the minimal adb shortcut from your PC.it should open a command prompt.
5.connect your device to the PC via usb.
6. Type this command to check if your device is recognized. "Fastboot devices"
It should show you a device ID..if your device is connected and recognized
7.flash tarp image with this command "fastboot flash recovery <twrp.img>"
8.reboot your device..press and hold volume down at the sametime to get into bootloader.
9.enter recovery.
10.Download any custom rom from htconeroot.com.it will be a zip file.
11. Copy the zip into minimal adb install directory and run this command to push the zip onto your device. "adb push <image file>.zip any name.zip"
12. After this completes you should be able to see this image in the filemanager in twrp.
13.move the zip file into sdcard directory.
14.make sure all options are checked in the mount in twrp
15.install the custom rom from install option in tarp.
This is 3 frantic days of research on the internet bro..
I had a brick in my hand too..got it up and running VIPERONE ROM
Hope you get through this fine
Thank you, i really appreciate the effort! but im stuck on step 6/7. When i typed in fastboot devices, it didn't show any new id. and when i typed fastboot flash recovery twrp.img it says "waiting on device" so im guessing it still didnt detect it. any idea on why this might be happening? thanks

Ok..try this..
Press down on the power and volume down button to enter the default boot loader.
If you hv rooted your phone..it should be showing tampered at the top.
select the fast boot option..
Now connect your phone via usb..
The display name should change to "fastboot usb"
Then again open minimal adb and continue from step 6.
Make sure you have all the htc drivers for Windows installed on your PC.
Windows can automatically download these drivers for you if you don't have them..
All the best
Are you using Windows 8.1?
everything works now, thank you guys. You are all awesome!
Hello,
My nexus 6 was rooted and with TWRP. However, while trying to update to 5.0.2 using this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/development/rom-pure-shamu-beta-2-0-t2952604), I ended up with no OS on it. I can boot into TWRP just fine.
So I am trying to sideload the ROM and rest of the files, however, my Win 8.1 shows "device not found". The command "adb devices" show no devices as well.
Win 8.1 device manager shows the phone as "Google Nexus ADB Interface" with driver ClockworkMod 8/27/12 7.0.0.4.
Any ideas?
Reinstalling and selecting from list did the trick, the device is listed as "Android Composite ADB Interface".
However, I must be missing something too obvious that I just cannot see...
I go into TWRP
go into advanced
go into ADB sideload and enable it
on PC, "adb device" will list it "recovery"
on PC, "adb sideload filename.zip" give me "error: Protocol fault (no status)"
then found out I had to stop the process "adb", which I do now.
Now when sideloading the zip I get "error: closed"
Ok, who knows why it was not working, but ended up doing a push instead, then I just installed via TWRP the ROM, gapps and SU.
Command I used: adb push rom.zip /data/media/rom.zip
this thread sounds like what I do when my mom has a question about something. Leave her alone for awhile and she finds the answer her self.
I rooted my HTC one after downloading a custom Rom it left me in a bootloop I tried adb sideload from twrp but my pc doesnt detect my device. I do have adb drivers installed. also tried the fastboot option also doesn't detect my phone. Pls help
If you can boot into TWRP, try to mount your internal storage as MTP (see here for a description). You could then load a different ROM onto the phone and then flash it.
To get fastboot to work, download the latest HTC Sync program, install it, but then uninstall it leaving the drivers. When you boot your phone into fastboot and plug it in, it should switch from "fastboot" in red to "fastboot usb" and hopefully it will then be recognized.
maybe he needs to flash the boot.img, if he's s-on, just my 2 cents

What rom are you trying to flash? If it's not from the Sprint forum it's most likely a GSM rom and does not have Sprint support.
That will cause your phone to react like you are talking about.
ADB Sideload 99 time out of 100 will not work.
Use adb push FileName.zip /sdcard/ to move files to your phone while in recovery.
As for the drivers try this:
On your PC go to device manager and find your phone(usually M7WLS), right click and select properties
Select the driver tab
Select update driver
Select browse my comp
Let me pick
Look for ADB USB device or similar should be one of the first couple choices
Select MyHTC install and you should be good
Hi
(Sorry for my little english, feel free to speak french if you can)
I have try to root my 4X HD for using a better recovery app (recover pictures deleted in sd card, now you know my skill). I have use this page: (as newbie i cant post outside links)
n fact, I never had an Android device where this was that easy to achive! Our friends at XDA-Developers offer a guide and the necessary tools in this thread. Having a "Microsoft free zone" and "only" running Linux machines (yeah, even the Android ones run a Linux kernel), I was able to follow up those steps with a little adaption here and there -- and so I will sum up the results for Windows and Linux users as well:
Preparation
First you need to download the required tools, all of them available at the linked XDA-Developers thread:
o4xr.zip is the rooting toolkit
IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk to prepare your device
Windows users only: LGUnitedMobileDriver_Ver_3.7.2_LG-P880_LGO4XHD.zip -- the Windows drivers for the device
Having everything downloaded, some additional steps are necessary at your computer:
Windows users only: Unzip and install the drivers
Linux users: Make sure adb is able to detect the device (check with adb devices). If it's not, see at the end of this answer for some hints.
Everybody: Copy IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk to your Optimus (e.g. after connecting it via USB in MTP mode, copy the file to the internal SDCard)
Everybody: Create a new directory, unzip o4xr.zip there, and change into this directory.
The rooting process
On your Optimus, go to Settings→Security and make sure "Unknown Sources" is TICKED (i.e. contains a checkmark)
Go to Settings→Developer Options and enable "USB Debugging"
Now install IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk (e.g. use a file explorer to find and "launch" it)
Open the "SystemBackupTest" app you just installed. Nothing spectacular will happen, so don't be disappointed here.
Hold the power button and choose "Power off and restart".
When you can see the lock screen, you may notice that the phone is running very slowly, this is normal.
Once the device is fully started up again, connect it to your computer with an USB cable. Make sure the phone is in "Charging Only" mode.
On your PC, open a terminal (Linux) resp. command (cmd.exe, Windows) window and change into the directory you've extractedo4xr.zip` into.
(on Windows, you may need admin privileges: right click, run as administrator. On Linux it did fine for me without superuser/root permissions)
Now run the rooting script:
Windows users: type root followed by the enter key
Linux users: type ./root-linux.sh, also followed by the enter key
Any Mac users? Type ./root-mac.sh, also followed by the enter key. Don't worry, it won't root your Mac/Linux machine (Windows users: it is unlikely to root your box, either
DO NOT DISCONNECT YOUR PHONE WHILE THE SCRIPT RUNS! Wait while it does its job. During that process, the phone will reboot automatically a couple of times. The script will inform you about this in your command/terminal window. Once the command/shell prompt returns, the misdeed is accomplished
Now uninstall SystemBackupTest from your Optimus. Do not launch it again at this state, or you might have to start over from step 5
On your phone, open up Google Play Store and search for "SuperSU". Update the app when prompted, then open it. Press OK to update the SU binary.
You now have root and can safely restore the "Unknown Sources" and "USB debugging" settings back to how you had them! Congratulations! Next steps are to install Titanium Backup, LBE Privacy Guard, and all the other things you might need and which require root!
At step 8. i got "command not found" in Terminal (Linux Mint), assuming script don't work i have reboot my device.
Since my phone boot but is very very slow and screen is friezed, even if i can unlock my SIM card by memory pattern (without sim card and always by memory i can see Settings of android but not down the list).
In recovery boot (Sound up + Power), my device show me a picture that would say "dont unplug charge and usb".
I guess my phone is not rooted, adb can list it but not fastbood. LG software (on windows 7) cant communicate with it because usb driver not work. I guess i've try and read more since 8 hours but my brain is off right now. Any help will be very welcome.
Cheers
