Hi,
Just bought a SGT S2 today, I want to flash CMod of at least something vanilla, however I'm not even sure if I can? There's an official build available on the CMod website but it dosent list model number just wifi or lte.
Just wondering what the differences are between the version numbers, and is it possible to flash a 819 with a 815 rom?
The model I have is SM-T819

Nope, those are two totally different devices. The 815 is the Tab S2 (original, LTE version), the 819 one is Tab S2 (2016, LTE version, in some countries this is the VE LTE version, VE stands for value edition). Their chipset and gpu differs. St**d Samsung sells these under the same name :/
I'm going to cut to the chase: DO NOT FLASH CYANOGENMOD ON YOUR TABLET.

I came into possession of a Samsung Galaxy Note from a relative visiting from China which my wife wanted to flash to English ROM for use in the States. However, this seem to be a model specifically designed for the Chinese market. It has PDA firmware i889FA06 and build date of Jan 6, 2012. This is NOT the i889 CDMA PDA phone, but an actual Galaxy Note with i889 firmware (not sure why?). It supports CDMA and GSM, with the following information in the about section:
Model Number: SCH-i889
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: i889FA06
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-CL872127 [email protected] #2
Build number: Gingerbread.FA06
Quick search of the Galaxy Note i889 lands me in all sorts of Chinese sites, but nowhere can I find any information on how to flash with a ROM made for western world.
Is this even possible? Or is the hardware different enough that only the stock ROM will work?
Any suggestions are much appreciated!

I dont know of any official NOTE that supports both CDMA and GSM my friend. I believe you have been given one of the fake Chinese handsets and it has been passed off to you as an official NOTE.
What makes you say that it is a real NOTE?
This was purchased from one of the major Chinese carriers which is loaded with their branded firmware, not through some mom&pop shop on the street. Plus the quality of the handset is high, I doubt the clone sets can achieve the same quality, both the material and the OLED display. Here are some spec I found:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=3343&c=samsung_sch-i889_galaxy_note
But still no sign of any firmware that can be flashed to this unit...
the n7000 have arm cpu while this one has Exynos cpu just like the att version. i think your phone is locked to china mobile. it could be a korean or a chinese version
For the love of God, just paste SCH-i889 into Google and you'll get all the info you need.
Really? I goggled several times and still didn't see anything about flashing it with a western firmware...

For the record, att version doesn't have exynos. It has snapdragon.

This is probably the "other" international version like the n7000. There are two international versions of the Note and there is the ATT version. I don't know about firmware though becasue I don't remember seeing a thread for this model on XDA.
i believe that is the china version of galaxy note. ( mr google tells me that )
unfortunately i cant find your device in www.sammobile.com
come across this website for roms and stuff

Can You upload baseband or firmware SCH I889 ?
I have a U.S. Tab S2 T810 on the way and wanted to pick up the latest firmware's for MM, and Nougat. I see Canadian ROM's on Sammobile, but I don't see any U.S. ones newer that 5.1.1. Anyone know where to get them, or will the Canadian ones work on the U.S. tablet?
Thanks in advance.
I guess it was available after all. I am a little confused as to why it says cellular south when it is a WiFi only device?
Hello everyone,
I'm looking to buy the best possible Exynos Galaxy Note 8, and I'm surprised and lost on the number of models available.
Would N950N be a good choice? I would like to replace the ROM by a stock-based one as usual, install TWRP, root, etc.
Would this model work in Brazil and USA on roaming?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

it works, but you'll end up flashing a 950F-based ROM anyway as all the development is using those as a base.
as for "works in Brazil and USA on roaming" that entirely depends on which bands you need.

So we could assume that N950F would be a better choice or doesn't matter anyway?

They are identical hardware, and if you are flashing a ROM anyway the software won't matter either.
The only real consideration I can think of is internal storage, since I believe the 950F is still only available as 64gb, while the N can be bought in a 256gb version.
Get the UK or UAE unlocked dual sim 64 gb version. I have the UK one from Samsung UK. I have my UK EE sim and AT&T sim active. I'm on rooted magisk Dr. Ketan Rom N4 with Iron Kernel 1.1.2. OEM UNLOCK available immediately and still post rom install. Wonda Mobile has the UAE version.
You can get the 950F 128GB in mexico
I really prefer to have the 6GB/256GB Exynos version, so N950N seems a good choice.

No such thing as a 256GB Exynos version, it'll be a Snapdragon.

Yes, there is. Single sim Korean variant. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/n950n-note-8-256gb-att-t3675577
You're thinking of the Chinese variant N9500, which is Snapdragon.

Quite a few of us have the 256gb N950N from Korea which is Exynos.
Ah my bad, i was thinking a dual sim 256gb Exynos for some reason...
Is there any version of the T-819 or the T-813 Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 that can't be rooted? I recently bought an H918q LG V20 before realizing that it can't be rooted, so I had to sell it. I'd like to not make the same mistake again. Thanks in advance.

I meant, variants, such as "SM-T813NZDEXAR". Are there any variants of T-813 or T-819 that can't be rooted?

Not unless it's Verizon or AT&T model. If you get an international model.I.E. not a carrier branded model you should be fine.
WiFi versions are never locked.
The specs for both models are same including CPU but 960F (Asia) support DUAL sim whereas Korea only SINGLE sim.
If I odin 960F to my Korea model phone, will it still work? or probably freeze on E.g. Settings when I click Sim 2?
How about the Samsung Pay?
If firmware 960F can work, can I use Samsung Pay in Asia? or they are some in-built mechanism E.g. Knox that will prevent this?
Same question. I have a SCV38 - Japanese KDI/AU Galaxy S9. I have only Android 9, but there are a bunch of US Snapdragon Galaxy S9 based on Android 10. Can I flash this (US firm on JP phone)? I just want to get to Android 10. I have a feeling that wont work, and I checked for the S8 - US and JP phones, altough based on QC chipset had other hardware differences...
Anyway, appreciate any advice on the matter.
Do you have solution? I have same problem

As long as the specs are the same you can flash any region rom. You will just have to try it yourself and see if both sims work. Google pay shouldn't have any problems. The only problem you might have is some roms have different baseband files so you might not get network connection if it's not right for your region.

Make sure in download mode you don't have RMM prenormal if you flash Android 10 and it's prenormal you will never be able to get rid of it.
