XtremeGuard: Best Bang for Buck Screen Guard!

I just read through the other thread here titled "Free Military Grade" and I seriously can't believe that its still a sticky here!
Anyway coming back to topic, I just received the XtremeGuard Screen protector for my HD2 and to come straight to the point - this is the best screenguard you can buy at this rate!
I've personally used Zagg and Bestskinsever for the rest of my Devices (iPad and iPhone 4) and can without a doubt say that the material used here is the SAME!
I got the Full Body Screen Protector for just 6$ off Ebay incl. Shipping (WorldWide Shipping).
The quality is same as the Zagg I currently have applied to my iPad.
If you are looking for a screenguard then I haven't seen anyone else offering this quality at such a low rate.
Note: This is no paid review or anything. Just my pure personal experience.

What I don't like about those screen protectors like Invisible shield and bestskinsever is the rubbery feel left on your screen. Your fingers don't glide like it would on protector-less screen. Does this one have the same rubbery feel to it?

It's like having no protector at all. The screen protector glides perfectly, no rubbery feeling. They also have a promo, buy 2 get 1 free, so you get 3 screen protectors... And unlike the skins that have to be installed with soapy water, these go on without water and are even washable and reusable!
I've tried all screen protectors imaginable (Bodyguardz, zagg, Clearprotector, bestskinsever, cheap ebay protectors, etc.) and Vikuiti is the best I've used...
What bothers me about Xtremeguards is they say Zagg is not military grade and theirs are. But Zagg was the first to boast military grade helicopter blade protection film...

Well I found Zagg to be the most rubbery. XtremeGuard was on the same line with Bestskinsever.
About the Military grade protection I feel those are just marketing gimmicks and not to be taken seriously.
Vikuiti (TM) DQC-160 is still costlier and only covers the front. So assuming this higher cost and coverage area it should be made of a different and higher quality material.
As far as the quality of material goes, Zagg/Bestskinsever/XtremeGuard use the same/similar type of material. But XtremeGuard was the cheapest I could find.

I'm notoriously brutal on my phone screens, and have ruined many of them over the years. The Gorilla glass on my HD2 (now a year old) has remained unprotected since day one, and it's still perfect. The surface is amazing.
Has anybody really scratch up their screen?

Sorry mate, but the HD2 doesn't have Gorilla glass. It's tough, but not Gorilla tough - and I know, cos I tried to scratch mine one night with a bottle cap when I was drunk. Thank god that didn't work!

Its my personal experience that having a screen guard on drastically reduces the chances of causing a screen breakage incase the phone falls down.

I use a matte screen guard just to reduce direct daylight glare. Since I use the Otterbox Defender and keep it screen side in, there's not much chance of keys or other things scratching even the guard.

Wow thats a relief

I've been using the Zagg protection for my HD for more than two years now.
It's very effective, as it truly turns your device into a rubber bouncing ball, so you'll really unlikely damage it if if falls down in most situations.
However, the screen part was very unpleasant to use, as your finger wouldn't slip anymore on the rubbery (and sticky) surface, and since the micro bubbles that always appear took several months to disappear from large surfaces such as the back battery cover, it compromised the scren readability for a too long time to be tolerated, so I prefered to use standard screen protection sheets (my current one is an anti-glare one).
Now for the drawbacks :
- Two years later, the glue turned yellow. It's obvioulsy not a problem on the black HD shell, but it could have been if you covered the screen as well.
- The sheets can theorically be removed, cleaned and replaced. It's true in the beginning. But two years later, the glue will stick to the HD and peel off from the film ! BTW, the film now rips easily, so it appears to have lost its initial sturdiness.
- I bought a Brodit craddle for my car, and it's very tight. So tight it ripped off the Zagg protection ! It may be thin, it's not thin enough...
So I finally removed it entirely. After all, I always put it in my belt leather case when I'm not using it and I barely use is as a basket ball - though it fell down quite a few times and I thanked the Zagg protection.
But my HD is ageing now and since I have problems with the screen, I think I'll change it for an HD2, so I won't replace the protection.
In conclusion :
- The Zagg protection is excellent, but consider replacing it after at least two years.
Well, I know it's actually more than the time some people keep their phones, but I keep mine for many years, so it's a concern for me.
- It will be a problem if you intend to use a slip-in car craddle, because of the added thickness.
The sheet is also very shock and scratch proof, but easily teared off if applied a strong pressure with a cutting edge, as for instance the hard ABS Brodit craddle edges.
- You'll quickly find it's not suitable to protect the screen.
Otherwise, if you intend to protect your Leo from scratches and shocks without wrapping it inside a huge box or ugly silicon case, while retaining its original appearance and design, and don't wish to have to get it out of the box/case each time you want to access the battery, SD card or SIM card, or plug into your car handsfree kit, then it's a perfect solution that no other can match.

Screen protectors are worthwhile on old resistive screens made of plastic, as plastic scratches very easily. They are a waste of money on glass screens, however, as it is extremely hard to scratch glass
Glass screens crack when extreme pressure/shock is exerted on the edges of the devices and compresses the glass. No screen protector is going to protect the glass from that. A shock absorbing silicon/rubber case, while not fool proof, offers the best protection from a shattered screen.
I've never had a screen protector an my old iPhone and my HD2, and there isn't a single scratch on the screen on either device. Everything else on my iPhone got scratched, but the screen is actually the most durable part:

Anti-glare screen filters can still be interesting if you're using your device outside under strong sunlight, as it's the case here where I live.
Otherwise, I agree the mineral glass is supposed to be scratch proof.
... But not break proof ! The Leo's glass screen has proved many times to be very, very thin compared to the iPhone's one... And very fragile when hit.
So beware if like me, you're carying your device everywhere on hard work. You can frequently hit your hip, so at least, don't store your Leo in your carrying case with the glass turned outside !!!

I prefer the otterbox defender
Which has a screen protector. For one thing, it will keep the glass from shattering should the device fall.
I do have a plastic protector under the otterbox, because the screen tends to stick to the otterbox otherwise. Some people have recommended a bit of baby powder on the screen, but I just can't bring myself to do that - and I wonder if they realize that such powder can be talc or cornstarch. I'm not sure I'd want either getting on my screen!

In the instructions, it says to soak all fingers in soapy water solution --> can I use any type of washing hand liquid and mix it with water?
Then this is the part where I'm really lost : "Peel off the guard from its backing, then re-dip your fingers in the solution and completely wet the backing of the guard" --> Does that mean I must wet/dip the whole protector in the solution before applying?
Please bear with me, I'm completely noob for this type of thing. Any help would be really appreciated - thanks!!

First rule of thumb, go slow!
And not to hijack this thread or anything, but I always refer to the Phantom Skinz website when I install skins. I have used a few different products and Phantom Skinz was the best. Frack you, Ghost Armor!!! (Note, I have never used XtremeGuard but I am thinking about it because of the much cheaper price).

When I replaced my HD2 a couple of months ago I decided not to put a screen protector on the device, using the one built into the Defender instead.

Well, one of the second hand HD2s I bought went with a couple of original HTC screen protectors, so I put one of them on mine, in order to potect the screen from shocks, as the glass is very thin (much thinner than the iPhone's for instance).
You never know what can happen...
It may not be the best protection in the world : it's a bit thick, it makes the picture look a bit "weavy" when seen from tight angle (so I guess it's not perfectly flat), it can be scratched moderately easily, it's prone to collect fingerprints (as all the existing protections actually, and even the glass with no protection at all), the screen is still as difficult to read under strong sunlight (I think even a bit worse than with no protection at all), and it's slightly less finger-slippery than the glass screen alone, but...
... It has a gigantic advantage towards all and every other existing screen protectors (probably except the Zagg Invisible Shield, but this one is so rubbery and sticky it's almost unusable, actually) :
... It covers the whole screen, including around and under the buttons.
Most, if not all other protections, stop on top of the buttons, making a visible and ugly "stairs step". Plus they're not really better. Too bad.
So the HTC one is the one I prefer (the other best choice being no protection at all, since the glass can hardly be scratched, only broken).
BTW, I don't use a full casing protection nor sleeve, as I'm using a belt pouch and a very tightly fit Brodit car craddle that forbids any protection other than a screen film (it would just rip off the Zagg full body protection as it's too thick : I had the problem with the HD).

[Review] JLG Screen Protector

Feel:
It really is smooth. Smooth as hell. Sometimes, feels even smoother than the glass did. This is really great. It seems very hard, the stylus doesn't leave any marks on it and did I mention it is smooth? Finger beautifully glides across the screen and there is no hang ups. Felt better than the Belkin I was also installing.
Clarity
Since i still have haze, I don't want to completely comment on the final product, but i do have a few things to say:
I have installed lots of wet installs and even have my own little squeegee. Never have i had this much water stuck under the protector.
There was something on the bottom. Not sure if it was clumped glue, or what, but it was there. It wasn't dust, and it would not come off the bottom of the protector. It currently rests in the middle of a haze field so I'm not sure if it will go away, but I will update if/when it does.
NO ORANGE PEEL. On the Belkin, I could immediately see "orange peel" and with this one, none whatsoever. This is great!
As of right now, it looks like everything will be fine with the clarity, depending on the haze finally disappearing.
Fit
It fits well. A tinge smaller than i want it to be (and covers less than the Belkin i was installing) but it covers the view-able area and about another 2 millimeters on each side. It is cut to make room for the front sensors and the bottom button. Like i said, it will work but for me, I could've used maybe a LITTLE bit more screen coverage.

The haze I can live with and understand, but the fact that it seems most of the edge has not stuck down completely is unsettling. It's really hard to show, but on most of the phone the edges aren't perfectly stuck, and in some areas it extends a millimeter or 2 into the protector.
It is SOOO hard to take a picture of this, but I am still trying.
The instructions say to keep pushing the edges for the next couple of days to make sure they stay down. I don't like this. at all.
I don't use a case, and feel like dust, dirt, loose hairs or whatever will get in there. On top of that, If I don't see the glue sticking immediately, I dont know how it will stick over the next couple of days.
Only time will tell... but that's how i feel right now.
On the topic of the edge:
The Edge
For some reason... there is a little like, lip there. It's hard to describe, but running your finger from the middle to the edge of the phone, it feels as if the protector is thicker or lifted on the edges. This is ALL THE WAY around the protector. Makes me feel it has to do with the way it is cut.
This actually is the part I dislike the most. I want my finger to not be able to notice the difference between the glass and the protector. On the Belkin I installed, it was a subtle step down from the Protector to the glass. You know its there, but your finger doesn't catch on it at all and it doesn't drag on the edge. With this one?
It absolutely does. You can feel the edge "biting" into your fingertip before dropping down to the glass. This not only makes you notice the protector more, but also makes me worry about the longevity of the protector, as if it can "snag" on my finger it can also snag on my pocket material and other things.
Now understand that I am talking about very minuscule amounts of biting and snagging, but they are there. I've never seen this on any SGP or the cheapo Belkin I was using.
EDIT: Seems I wasnt clear on my "lip" issue. I am posting from another reply I made:
On my previous [JLG] protector, the edge had a lip... maybe its better to describe it as a bead. It felt thicker than the rest of the protector... So instead of just having your finger slide off the protector to the glass, it actually got "caught" on this lip. It didnt feel very good, especially since it isnt cut very large you almost always feel it.
Other protectors do not have this lip or bead. Not one of them.
Final thoughts?
It is decent. I need to sit and wait to see how much the haze clears and the edges stick. It is clear, smooth as ****, and was priced just fine.
Personally, if knowing what i know now, was to purchase a protector... It wouldn't be this one. Id prob go back with the Ultra Crystal i normally use, and might switch to that if there are problems with this one.
That being said, I am not going to rip this off my phone and I cannot test the additional shatter protection that the film supposedly adds to the glass.

Here you can see the packaging. Pretty plain and not something I care much about, but some people seem to like fancy packaging that comes with other protectors.
Package includes the little wet application spray (never had an issue with wet applications), a little cloth (more on that) and a little piece of cardboard and some instructions.
I wanted to get a closer look at these, hoping you can see what I see. On the plastic itself, you can see some inconsistent lifting off the backing. This really isnt a big deal, but it can mean an issue with inconsistent glue/cutting.
Here is my GN2 clean and sitting on the bathroom counter waiting. You can see its pretty damn clean. I have installed MANY screen protectors and NEVER had an issue with dust under the protector.
So I installed the protector. No pics here because of multiple reason, but mostly because I only have 2 hands and the bathroom was REALLY steamy.
This is where I ran into a problem. The little sprayers that comes with the JLG is less than half the size of other wet install sprayers. After maybe 6 pumps, I had used it up completely. I used some to spray on my fingers, but I should have just washed them dry and then wet them with a bowl of water. I wanted to make sure that I had the same solution on my hands as the screen to minimize upsetting the glue, but no biggie. Be careful with the amount you spray and you should be fine. For me it was too little.
Ok, so now installed.
Below, you can clearly see the haze, wavyness and other odd things that appear with a typical wet install (though more than i remember others, but i wont hold JLG responsible for my bad memory).
I am hoping this goes away soon, as it should. It is almost completely impossible to see when the screen is on. Ill use the next post for my summary and how I feel about it.

I just installed a SGP Ultra Crystal and I'm in love. After using a JLG that popped up off the screen when it had an unknown pact with something in my sleep, I needed a replacement. I did have to pull the SGP up to take out 3 dust particles but now I have a 100% perfect install and it looks and feels amazing. Very clear and very slick. Not to mention the SGP comes with 2 protectors, I'm a very happy camper.

installed the just like glass screen protector and so far i'm really liking it. the wet application really helps to reduce the bubbles as well as aiding in alignment. feels...just like glass.

I used JLG and there is smth that i didn't like about it. you'll never know whether you have dust or specks of whatever not until it is already too late to do anything about it. the biz owner do not recommend for users to peel of the screen protector to removed those specks of dust, but instead buy a new one from him at 50% off. so, i swapped to Tank Protection screen protector. as i couldn't stand the speck of dirt under the screen protector. usually i get lint under the protector but specks of squarish dust is too much. my first time trying a wet application type.
installation was a breeze with the tank protector, had it aligned right at one go. imho, i find it equally clear, equally smooth and much easy to get it right in one try. hence, it is also cheaper for somebody like me, who lives outside of the US.

I was able to lift mine up to remove dust and then respray it so it would adhere again.. no problems so far... iirc, the instructions say that its not recommended but if you do, use tape to remove specks.

SGP Ultra Crystal
* Included in one box - 2 x screen protectors, 4 x anti-dust stickers (for picking up dust), 1 x microfibre cloth and 1 x serial number sticker (yes, I know).
* Application was easy, and fit is quite good, leaving around 1mm gap around the edges. Suitable for cases with lips (no overlap or lifting when using with Seidio Surface).

Btw, I currently have a Just Like Glass on mine, but there was a dent or glob of glue or something in it (it's not a dust speck as it's not the right shape for that) right in the middle of the screen. I applied the JLG about 6 weeks ago and to be honest, that dent (and to a lesser extent, the rainbowing) have been annoying me ever since.
Just bought a pack of iSmooths this morning which I hope will be do the job. Under £10 delivered from the states to the UK. Not a bad deal for 3 protectors

Cellet Screen Guard
I have been using the Cellet Screen Guard for about a week now, a brand I haven't seen anything about here before. I picked it up because it was the only one they carried at Fry's for the Note 2. It is the rigid film type. It went on very easily (I am usually no good at installing these), with no bubbles or any other problem. The packaging says "scratch resistance" and so far that has proven to be true. It is very clear, hard and smooth, and the spen does not leave any marks on it. The only problem is that it does smudge and pick up fingerprints easily, but they wipe right off with a microfiber cloth.

BoxWave Clear Touch Anti glare screen protector
I just got my BoxWave Clear Touch Anti glare screen protector and installed it. Note I have never installed a screen protector before but I have read the horror stories.
I decided to install one on my Note 2 because I wanted it to change the feel of writing on glass to make it more like paper.
My wife has installed several screen protectors and some were ok and some were murder to install. The BoxWave Clear Touch Anti glare screen protector was so easy to install and quite forgiving.
I cleaned the phone screen with my clear screen wipes I use for my laptop drying it with a micro fiber cloth. Then wiped it with the cloth they provided, but did not use their cleaning wipes (saved them for later). I started and had trouble getting it to stay aligned as I removed the backing (65 with shaking hands) so after getting about and inch and a half from the corner I took it off. Then got some tape and taped it in place in 2 spots. Then started removing the backing again. Real smooth.
When done I saw I had a couple pieces of dust under the screen protector so I tried to lift it with some tape. No way it was really stuck and the tape would just come off. So I tried with my fingernail and the corner came up. I just grabbed it with my thumb and finger (worried about contaminating the back) used some tape wrapped around my finger, to remove the dust. Put the corner back down used the cardboard they provided wrapped in the cloth they provided to push out the air bubbles and done.
It's not truly straight and one edge is too far to the side and may not stick well due to curve of the glass but so far it looks good and really helps with the feel of the pen. Quite pleased and because of the deal from slickdeals I have 2 more and only spent $3.00. Note it does not change the colors nor does it have any color bands at angles. I does reduce the brightness a tiny and I mean tiny bit.

They are sampling a new ultra-clear anti-fingerprint one which should start shipping officially once the stock of "green" ones run out. I would like to point out the new "clear" one is:
- thicker (on par with 3H thickness of Spigen and MobC) and super strong
- ultra-clear, no color distortion, no tint
- no rainbow effect (even under fluorescent lights)
- no issues using s-pen even applying extra pressure
- an improved cut, especially around home button
- super smooth, feels like glass
- covers visible part of the screen, while living enough edge margin for any case lip
I'm attaching a few edge shots of the new protector. Keep in mind its thickness relative to the phone. The edges are rounded and very smooth. After testing half a dozen of other cheaper and brand new screen protectors, this one is a keeper for me!

The Importance of a Real (Tempered Glass) Screen Protector!

I use a tempered oleophobic glass screen protector on my Galaxy Note 2. Just yesterday, it saved my phone from a 1 m drop onto a tile floor. There is now a hairline crack in the protector, but that's much better than having a hairline crack in the Note 2's screen itself. It would've been the screen if it weren't for the protector!
If I had used a plastic film protector, it would have bee a different story. Those flimsy films only protect from scratches, which this tempered glass protector does a much better job at anyway.
These protectors only cost around $10 on eBay, so it's a worthy investment to prevent spending $300 to replace the whole screen assembly.

We all focus on getting good cases to protect our phone, and some end up adding $0.99 thin film screen protector from ebay. Even good stuff from Spigen with 3H hardness will only protect from scratches. Impact protection is only reliable with a tempered glass. Furthermore, tempered glass usually is super clear, no light effects, not interference with s-pen, and it feels super smooth like a real glass.
@vantt1, how is it sticking to the edges? One of the biggest problems with Note 2 is display curve toward edges. Spigen didn't even bother making their signature Glass.t stuff for Note 2. MIME got it right only from a 2nd try. Other brands had issues with glass not sticking to the edges. Sedio VITREO shrunk the glass to cover only visible part of the display and not even going all the way around home button, all that to avoid with curved part of the Note 2 screen edge. So curious with the one you got if it's sticking to the edges or not? Or perhaps it's a bit thinner and thus more flexible in comparison to VITREO, so edges do stick better?

Installation is relatively straightforward. Just make sure the screen you're applying it on is super clean and dust free, then peel the plastic film covering the silicone-based adhesive off and align the protector according to the location of the home button and the front camera. Don't worry if there's one or two specks of dust in between the protector, because it is near impossible to remove the dust again. Pushing it will make the silicone fill up pretty much all the remnant air bubbles caused by the dust, and will look nearly invisible anyway.
As to the S-Pen, it doesn't affect it at all. Hover and tapping works just fine, and because it is glass it doesn't scratch like the old matte ones I used to use.

This 2.5D is by no means flexible, but the protector is smaller than the Note 2's screen by about 1-2 mm around the edges. It sticks reasonably well to the curved edges, but it is visibly not making complete contact. The protector clings perfectly where the actual AMOLED panel is though, and that's good enough for me. Furthermore, as you said, the glass does make seamless contact with the display, so there is no air gap at all and no extra reflections.
It's very smooth and hydro/oleophobic too!

Now this is the kinda thread I like seeing... Much better than one I've seen called " Don't use a screen protector!" which I hope dies in the depths of this forum
My tempered protector is the best 6 bucks I've ever spent on phone accessories and it's the first accessory I'll buy for all my future phones. I stop worryimg about what else is in my pocket. And because it's glass it's easy to forget that you're even using a screen protector unlike with the flimsy plastic films.

Just ditched my several week old zaggs invisishield, which proved to be a sticky, bubbly pos which ripped after just a few weeks of sitting in the pocket of my khakis (with nothing else in the pocket).
Received and installed a Seidio Vitreo which I learned about in vectron's thread. The Vitreo is outstanding but I wonder what makes it so much more expensive ($30+)...hardness maybe?

The only difference with Seidio is that it's not as wide and therefore it doesn't go as far to the edges. As you might have read in Vectron's review, if the screen protector goes too far to the edges the curved edges of the Note 2's screen will cause the protector to not stick as well.
The reason it's so much more expensive is because of the word Seidio printed on it's packaging and I guess a bit also for the fact that they solved a problem that no other protector solved at the time they released their product.
In my opinion Seidio products in general are overpriced, but hey we all live on different budgets

Yours looks better on the top edge... the Seidio has an asymmetric cut around the earpiece. I'll keep that one in mind for my next phone or if the Vitreo breaks.

Although the curved edge problem exists on my protector, I haven't noticed any reduction in contact within the last 6 moths that I have been using it. Sure, a little bit of dust does get caught under it, but it doesn't seem to affect the protectors amount of contact at all.

My protector also has that extra bit of glass underneath the home button, which in my opinion goes well with my home button sticker.

Damn, should've checked here before I got one on Amazon for twice the price. By the way if anyone's looking for some reliable instructions on applying them here's a nice guide I wrote as a review earlier:
1. I don't know about you but I'm a bit anal with my phone so that whole just "line it up as best as you can and drop it" stuff isn't good enough for me. I'm going to introduce to you the hinge method which will allow you perfect alignment. Lay your screen protector over your screen exactly where you want it to be placed. Don't remove any of the plastic coating just yet, you just want to line it up. Then, tape the bottom part of the screen protector down with two pieces of tape effectively making a hinge. When you go to apply it you will simply remove the backing and the screen will lay down perfectly where it needs to be but we'll get to that in a bit there is still a little more prep required.
2. You are going to need to clean your screen so you don't have any particles under it to cause bubbles this is probably obvious but I would be remiss not to include it. This kit includes a microfiber which for most installations should be just fine however if you feel you need a little extra cleaning help you can also try a little bit of isopropyl alcohol.
2. Your enemy is dust so you want an environment that is less conducive to that. Let the shower run for a while until the steam builds up to ground the dust. Humid=Less dusty. If you haven't guessed by now you will be applying the screen protector in your bathroom.Set up a little station so you can have the phone/screen protector as close to eye level and and as visible as possible to spot any dust particles.
3. The moment of truth! Take another quick swipe with your microfiber cloth and check for any dust particles. You can now peel off the backing. There should be no guesswork here due to your hinge method so this part should be a piece of cake. Slowly lower it starting with the side closest to the screen and it should hinge close. Run your finger down the middle of the screen. You should see it adhere to the rest of the screen on it's own for the most part. Remove the front protective layer. Wrap the little card (or a credit card) with the microfiber and push out any remaining bubbles. You're done! If you did everything correctly not only will your screen protector be perfectly aligned but you will have no bubbles.

This tread should be a salesman good god. After reading through this thread I overed one from ebay right away.

[Review] Ringke FUSION Case

Introduction
I know the search for cases for this phone has been a little annoying and, in some cases, (hah!) underwhelming. I decided to pull the trigger on a case from a brand I've never bought before. I wanted a low profile case that provided, at least, decent protection. After some research, I purchased the Ringke FUSION Case over at Amazon for $12.99. My goal here is to provide people with some quick and concise information so they can make an informed decision when looking to buy a case for the Nexus 5X. So lets jump right in and see how this baby holds up to my expectations.
Disclaimer: I bought this case with my own money. I haven't been paid to endorse this product in any way. I'm also not a professional photographer, so the pictures I took with the M9's underwhelming camera is about the best my trembling, hungover hands could manage.
Details
It comes in two colors, "Smoke" (Grey) and "Crystal View" (Clear) -- Both are priced at $12.99
The case is made of Silicone TPU and the Plastic (maybe polycarbonate?).
No matter which color you choose, both come with an "HD" screen protector.
Initial Impressions
The case comes packaged quite nicely, sealed in a bubble-wrap insulated envelope. Upon opening the package we're greeted with Ringke's "ECO Package" which is supposedly saving the polar bears or something. It touts that they have sold over 10 million products, use non-toxic materials, and also instructs me to "feel good adout myself".

It's also a little funny because within this ECO package is another plastic Ziploc bag that houses the actual case.
Within this resealable bag you'll find the actual case. It has a protective film plastered on both sides of the clear plastic that shows off the rear of your beautiful new phone. This must be removed before installation. (Forgive me, I did not take pictures of this). The screen protector is also placed perfectly inside the case. My immediate impressions were that this case felt pretty decent for the price. It's light, the TPU sides felt grippy and the plastic (after having removed the protective films) felt a bit grippy and not brittle at all. This bolstered my initial confidence in the case that if I were to drop the phone accidentally on a hard surface that it'd shrug it off without a problem.
Installation and Fitting
The Screen Protector that comes with this case is a thin flexible film. It's plastic, not tempered glass and isn't the same material you'd experience with, say, a Skinomi TechSkin screen protector either. The screen protector comes with films attached to both sides. Both films are labeled with a description as well as a number to let you know which one you're suppose to remove first.
After washing my hands, I removed the adhesive film and carefully placed it on my phone. I placed the screen protector on the bottom and slowly applied it from the bottom up, using a credit card to smoothly apply the protector to mitigate any air bubbles. Application was pretty easy and just took about 3 seconds of patience. The protector fits almost perfectly. I applied it about a millimeter or two off center to the left, so there's a bit of a gap between the protector and the case now but it's hardly noticeable. As you can see from the picture above, the protective film that gets removed from the protector is colored blue, which I promptly removed, crumpled up and threw in the garbage before taking a picture. Because I'm an idiot.
The screen protector DOES have a cut out for the proximity sensor (are you listening Spigen?).
The case itself is a pretty easy installation. I slid the top portion of the phone in first, so that the buttons wouldn't get pressed during installation. With a satisfying hugging/click sound I then pressed the bottom end of the phone into the case. The case fits snuggly and does not allow the phone to move around at all. That being said, removal of the case is quite easy and can be done in seconds. This, however, I can't see happening by accident in your pocket or any other situation. This is exactly how I like my phone cases. Easy to install and remove without it just falling off from tumbling around in my shorts or something.
How the case fits the phone is a huge plus in my book. There is a TPU lip that goes around the entire face of the phone that provides some extra scratch protection if I were to place the phone face down.
On the back you can see the clear plastic allows the nice Nexus logo to shine through. There's a proper cutout of the Fingerprint sensor, Camera, Laser Auto-focus and Flash LED.
The plastic lays flush with the camera lense / glass, providing decent protection from a fall if the phone were to land on it's back. This case basically lets the phone lay flat on a desk or anything else due to little bumps at all four corners of the case. This is nice so that the phone no longer rests right on it's fragile camera when placed face up on a flat surface.
Features & Other thoughts
This case seems to be as well thought out as it is constructed. There is a properly sized cutout for the USB-C port as well as the headphone jack. The headphone jack, however, has a TPU flap covering it to prevent dust from getting in. This is a bit annoying sometimes to remove, but I like that they included it for the reason of cleanliness. There's also a cutout for the bottom microphone.
Moving to the right side of the case, we can see that there are TPU buttons covering the Volume Rocker and Power button. Normally I hate these things because they're hard to find and usually dull the tactile feedback from the buttons. But the way these are implemented are probably the nicest I've ever felt. They're raised from the side of the case, so they're easy to find and feel quite nice when pressed giving a satisfying click sound that you'd get from the naked phone itself. Well done, Ringke!
There's also a cutout at the top for the top microphone as well.
The case feels nice to hold and doesn't add much bulk at all. The TPU sides are decently grippy but the gloss finish on them makes it slippery at times. My only complaint with the case is that the clear backing is a fingerprint magnet. If you have greasy hands the back will look smudgy and at times can be quite slippery. Not a big deal but if it catches the light a certain way it looks pretty bad.
As for the screen protector, I'm not exactly thrilled with it. I actually ordered a different screen protector before I bought this case, but it hasn't shipped yet so I just threw this one on for now. I'm fairly sure the screen protector isn't oleophobic, so finger prints and smudging happens pretty often. Which is a shame because it feels pretty nice to interact with.
Overall
Overall, I really like this case. It offers adequate protection from minor falls and scratches for the price without adding nearly any bulk. It also allows the phone to lay flat on flat surfaces without resting on the camera, which is a major plus. The case is easy to install and remove and fits nicely. It's a well-thought-out case with no glaring oversights or problems. The screen protector, however, is a bit lackluster. But hey, it was a free and it's a stand in for my Tempered Glass one arriving in the mail next week. Those looking for a low-profile, comfortable and protective case for there brand new N5X, look no further.

I had this case for the note 4 and it had very rough edges, this case does not! Very nice case for the price. Nice review too.

I bought this in clear. It's nice, but I just can't stand the feel of a case on this phone (not to be confused with saying I don't like the feel of the case, because the case feels great). I might go caseless for the first time in years.

I ran my old N5 naked for a long time while in school and while it was nice it was ultimately a bad call because the wear definitely accumulated over time.

Got this case based on your review and I'm really happy with it. It's a very simple case that appears to be well-made and doesn't add a lot of bulk. The buttons have a great feel and for about $10 you can't go wrong.

I used the ringke fusion case for my n4 and loved it. Ordered it for my n5x and was a little disappointed that it's an all tpu case. I've personally never cared for tpu cases. The case is too smooth for my taste and I think makes it harder to hold on too.
The n4 version was nicer because the outside wasn't a smooth tpu and a solid and more case like plastic while retaining the clear back. It also has small edges where the plastic parts met on the back which help when gripping and holding the phone.
The n5 is almost smooth all around. Gonna give it another week or so but will probably be looking for something else or going with now case.
It's still a decent case, but just wanted to make sure people realize the fusion line cases has changed from the older phones.

It's definitely not an all TPU case. The back is a hard plastic and the sides are a softer TPU material.
I like the case for everyday use, but am still looking for something with a little more protection for work.

Ringke Fusions are my favorite cases on the market right now. I've had 7 of them for various devices. All fit perfectly and no discoloration or scuffs. Great cases

Received this one yesterday in smoke color. First time using a case since my OG droid incredible. I didn't want to use a case but after my nexus 5 experience (RIP N5 screen x2) it was the smart play. Exactly what I was looking for, snug fit with some rubbery protection for the edges and not too much added bulk. I approve of this case.

It does not, the case has little feet on the corners that keep the camera from touching the table.

Here is a close up confirming the camera doesn't touch.

I think what they mean is the clear plastic on the back, the slot that has been cut out for the camera and flash has rough edges rubbing against the phone, which apparently damages the paint? I haven't had this issue.

1 Comparison of 2 most Tough Case for Note 5 from Amazon -- Otterbox VS Little Rock
This case comes as a 2 piece clamshell, top part containing the built in screen protector and the bottom having a rigid back and flexible sides that secure it to the top piece. The top half is a secured in place screen protector made of a clear and rigid plastic sheet with a cutout for the action button. The phone is snapped into this portion first where it makes a snug and secure fitment. The bottom half is thicker and possesses the bulk of the padding, seen in the honeycomb ridges and thick sidewalls. This half receives the top where it snugs into the flexible sidewalls.
The power and headphone jacks are covered with flaps, speaker and S-Pen openings are unobstructed and the volume and power buttons are firm but still responsive. The sides of the case are beveled above and below and are textured with a crosshatch design which makes it easy to pick up from a flat surface and have a secure grip. The rear of the case is branded with the company logo and an industrial design. The area around the camera is not very beveled which provides poor access to the Heart Rate Monitor. In testing with 2 OEM and one branded wireless Qi charger pads, the phone charged fine and no undue heat was detected.
In comparing this product with a direct competitor and king of the hill, Otterbox Defender, a few differences stand out. While both items have similar port cover designs, the hinge side on the Otterbox is to the front of the case where the silicone has the greatest flexibility and the Artech case is hinged toward the rear of the case where the silicone has greater stability. In my opinion the silicone on the Artech case will not stretch out around the port covers as easily as the Otterbox could. The Otterbox has a more accessible design around the Heart Rate Monitor than the Artech case does. The shape and texture of the silicone on the Artech case makes it appear slimmer and feel more secure than the Defender.
The biggest negative to the Artech case in my opinion in comparison to the Otterbox case; is the lack of a holster. A device this size in a thick case isn’t as convenient in a pocket. This is a personal preference however, I know many people that do not use a holster. It would be nice if a holster for the Artech was available as an add-on item.
The greatest perk to the Artech case is it is 25% of the price of the Otterbox. A second or third one could be purchased as a backups and still come out under the cost of one Defender.

UAG cell phone cases really have been the gold standard that I compare all other cell phone cases against. I discovered UAG cases after I got a Note Edge 4 because UAG was the only company that was selling for that particular design. I just traded in my Note Edge and walked out with a Note 5. Once again, UAG has risen to the top in terms of the case that I love to use.
I wrote a review about the Note Edge Case and it got me on their sample list, so, I actually received this case free from UAG in exchange for a review. I mention this (well, to be honest), but also because I do A LOT of Amazon reviews. The #1 thing I’m asked to always review are cell phone cases. As soon as I get done looking and playing with those cases for a few hours or a few days, I always go back to the UAG case, I just feel safer using it because of how sturdy it is and I’ve seen it hold up already, like other times, I’ve dropped my phone and accidently boot kicked it into a wall; no problems, phone held up great, no scratches or anything.
The other thing that I love about this case is that it doesn’t change it shape in the heat. I’m in Texas, where it gets REALLY hot in my car. I’ve noticed that a lot of cell phone cases will slip their shape in the heat, but this one never does. It stays firmly on my cell and I don’t have to worry about it coming off. I’ve been using the UAG case since the Note 5 came out and even when left in my car, no problems.
The heat also leads to the other wonderful problem of me constantly sweating, so the grips on the case are a nice touch without me dropping the phone with my sweaty hands. It’s a small thing, but you don’t think about it until you’re messing around with other cell phone cases. All and all, a great product that I really recommend.
Oh, I don’t keep my phones in my pocket, I put them on my waist, using my shorts or pants to hold up my phone. I mention this because it’s one of the reasons why I drop kick my phones a fair bit. It’s not something to be proud of, but I’d been asked that once before…that’s why I come back to the UAG case because I feel a lot more secure knowing my case is going to help me out in this situation.

This case is amazing!! You might be thinking that it looks like just a simple phone case, and maybe it is. However....have you seen the options for the Samsung Note 5? There aren't very many.
We had several trial and errors with finding cases for our new phones. We searched the depths of Best Buy with their over-indulgence in iPhone accessories. We looked at T-Mobile only to find melt your face hot pink or boring black.We scoured the internet and found cases that looked okay in the pictures but when we received them felt like they were designed by a handless blind man.
This case feels amazing. It is actually my third Speck case, but first Speck case for this phone. It feels really nice and I find comfort that if I suddenly lose motor ability and fling my phone the concrete that this case with take the fall for my phone.
The colors are perfect. True to the picture although the blue is a bit lighter than the picture - Just a tad. It's kind of a sea-foam blue-green. Nonetheless, it's beautiful and I love it. The colors look really nice on my white phone.
It has enough grip that you don't have to worry about it slipping out of your hands. The front bumper comes out just enough to protect the screen but doesn't add bulk to the phone.
The buttons and S Pen are easily accessible as well as the ports and holes.
The case helps with not accidentally touching the screen which is an added bonus.
BUY IT! You know you want to.

Vivid Slim Case
Case looks good. Not a big fan of gold, but it's not really that important to me. I get why others are saying that the plastic is kind of cheap looking and has a visible seam. But that's only when inspected really closely. From a normal, reasonable distance (like that of everyday use), it looks just fine. I even got a couple of compliments on the case today, and I wasn't even showing it to anyone, juat taking it out of or putting it back into my pocket. It has a very modern, almost high-tech look that is admittedly somewhat cheapened by the gold plastic, but that is quickly gotten over. The rubber back has a nice ridged texture, which feels pleasant and grippy in the hand.
It's kind of hard to talk about function or form independent from each other with this case. It seems like a lot of thought went into both aspects during design, as well as how they could compliment each other. For example, the case is slim and adds no appreciable bulk. It also has curved sides that hug the contours of the phone better than my Otterbox Commuter did. I like the Commuter a lot, but between the non-slippery ridged rubber back, the curved edges and the overall thinness of the Artech, it just feels better in the hand. Its more comfortable to hold and I feel like I have a better grip on it. The slim profile of the case makes it very comfortable in a pocket as well.
The phone pops into the case in a single piece. It went in easily, but there are instructions in case you need them. I was a little worried that it might pop out as easily as it popped in. But after slamming the phone hard against my palm several times, it didn't budge. Even when I cupped my palm in an effort to put more stress on the side of the case to purposely get it to pop out. It has a nice, snug fit. There is a nice raised lip around the screen, even with a tempered glass screen protector.
As another poster noted, there is a nice bezel next to the heart rate monitor on the back of the phone that makes it easy to reach. But overall, the camera hole is smaller than my other case. So I feel that the Artech offers better camera protection without interfering with function. This same type of design is noticeable below the home button, where the lip of the case flattens out for more comfortable access. It is obvious that some thought went into this design.
Despite the back being ridged rubber that hugs the palm, the fact that there are a couple of ever so slightly raised plastic parts on the back means that this effect is, regrettably not useful on a table or other flat surface. It feels a little like a missed opportunity, but not a deal breaker.
The buttons and all of the holes for the various ports line up perfectly. The battery and headphone jacks are exposed, which I don't necessarily like, but can live with. There is a rather large opening fir the s pen, but flat surfaces will touch both sides of the case without coming into contact with that part of the device. Further proof that there is a deliberate and thoughtful design here.
The rubber on the back and on the inside of the case seems kind of thin, but is a bit nore rigid than my other case. The power and volume buttons are responsive and soft. They are not very "clicky", of that kind of thing is important to you. It is not important to me, and I like the feel of these buttons.
A good 3/4 of the back is the aforementioned ridged rubber. I'm not sure how much protection it would really offer in the event of a decent drop. Again, I am conparing it to the Otterbox Commuter, which has a plastic over rubber back. One way to find out, which I don't plan on trying anytime soon. But it seems solid enough. There is some ridged pattern on the inside of the case, but I don't know if that is decorative or not. It's not symmetrical, so I think it probably is. In any event, the slightly raised plastic bits on the back look like they would prevent the back of the phone from actually coming into contact with the ground (covered in rubber or no) as the result of a flat drop. But that is just speculation on my part.
In conclusion, i would say that this is a very nice case, a few minor quibbles aside. It's got a nice blend of form and function not often seen in phone cases. It looks and feels good, and the functionality is excellent in my opinion.
For the asking price (I got it free, but you know what I mean), it is definitely nice. I only buy Otterboxes because I get them at a significant discount which puts them in the same price range as the Artech. So if I had to buy one or the other of these, it would be hard to choose (unless the Commuter was full price, in which case it would be Artech hands down because it is a good case and also I'm a tightwad). The Artech looks and especially feels way better, is easier to hold securely, and very comfortable. As far as protection, both seem comparable, but I would give a slight to moderate edge to the Otterbox commuter because of the covered ports and plastic over rubber back. But make no mistake: the Artech Slim Stylish case seems to offer good, solid phone protection. And I'm in no hurry to go back to my other case. I'm gonna go ahead and use this one for a while.
I would definitely recommend this case to anyone looking for a sleek, yet protective case that feels good to hold.

I bought an Otterbox Defender for my Note 5. At first I was massively impressed by the design compared to my old Supcase. It felt like much more effort and work went into all the details. It all just seemed of higher quality.
I've had it for a week. It's been in the same pocket my old case was in for 9 months (chest), facing the same way, engaged in the exact same activity, except that case doesn't have a scratch on it. The Otterbox screen protector curves away from the screen already, making feedback through the s-pen hugely different on every single part of the display. Dragging something is just not pleasant. It's also been scratched. I would call one scratch a coincidence, but there are two. One of them runs horizontal the center right, pulling the s-pen over it is like nails on a chalkboard.
I don't want to judge it too harshly, small sample size and all, but for the amount of effort I went through to get this case (Note 5 isn't sold in my country, so finding the case was a nightmare, and I paid out the ass) and the hoohaa around the Rolls Royce status Otterbox seems to have attained in the phone case industry, I honestly expected this to be less of a piece of ****. I mean it's become pretty much unusable, after a goddamn week.
So now I have to find a new screen protector that doesn't get in the way of the case, otherwise I might as well throw this thing out.

Interesting , i actually peel of the screen protector , and i used it with my tempered glass , then it is perfect .
Otterbox and this case are 2 diiferent cases , i have to say i love otterbox , but it is 60 dollars ,so
