Anyone seen this problem before? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Verizon version...every time I download an app it ask me this. And I have had an app for quite some time called "All in One Gestures" now all of the sudden I can't revoke "Phone Administrator " permission in order to Uninstall the app. The only thing that has changed today is the July security patch was installed right before this stated happening

You may have a night filter downloaded. Such as Twilight which when you turn it on, creates a red filter over your screen.

Nothing like that, it is the strangest thing. Only 2 new apps, AccuWeather, and gear manager. Turned both of those off, and I still get this prompt when I download an app

Do a Factory reset via Recovery mode. Had that before and solved this way. Enable OEM unlock first!!

Does this work without fault for Verizon note 5s? I'm too worried about bricking my phone that I don't touch the OEM unlock switch.

If you actively have an app open/active that is currently overlaying the screen when a specific app asks for permissions, it will come up with that "error". Just kill that app that can overlay on the screen, and it will fix it. You can then begin using that overlaying app again after you grant permissions for the app that was giving you issues.

reset your phone(factory reset ) and give new life to your phone

I have never seen this. Maybe you have to do a factory reset. Backup your data in advance.

Re-root with Kingo then unroot with SuperSU. (Full unroot in the settings menu) After you restart the padlock should be gone. You may need to restart a second time so the system can switch back to Official status. I've done it twice now and it worked both times.

Download Wanam Xposed from the market. There's a hack in there to prevent the dreaded padlock
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using xda premium
Yup wanam solves it easily. First get Xposed framework, then install wanam, then in the security hack section in wanam, choose fake system status, reboot.

What IF they do a factory reset on the phone.....will this not just wipe the wanam exposed settings and BAM!!! the padlock will back and look even more like you messed up your phone?
i got my exchanged and had this same problem, they went through the phone scrupulously trying to find something that pointed to me tampering. they attempted to do a factory reset but with the state that i left my phone they could not even attempt that. but they tried, which will make your solution a Big Hell No once the reset brings that padlock back....they wont even talk to you anymore.

how did you reboot your phone? you have to use wanam's reboot option to do so, just so wanam can update things to the system. if you reboot by other means, especially by holding the power bottom and select reboot, it won't get ride of the pad lock.
We'll that explains it. In the mean time stupid AT&T updated my phone when I wasn't looking. I am now put to MJ5. I guess I can try to root with kingo.
Edessa Kingo will root MJ5. Im on MJ5 and rooted with Kingo. You may have to run program 5to6 times but it works

I got it to work by rooting and deleting busybox from system/bin and system/xbin. Which survives even after a factory reset. Was able to exchange the phone no problem after using full unroot from within SuPro. No padlock.

How do I remove this notification after root?

I already removed knox with titanium but this message still pops up.
You need to remove or disable the "Security Log Agent".

Cancelling paused OTA update?

I accidentally started downloading the large Oreo update today (Still on Nougat) and although have it paused, it shows an icon permanently in the notifications bar staying download paused.
Is there a way of cancelling the download completely and get back to the download later option as I had before.

Unfortunately you will have to factory reset. I've tried clearing cache and it will not work. If you have root and TWRP you can try to find the data, I don't know where it is stored. If you go the reset route remove your sim card, mobile data and WIFI and then disable the OTA before it starts downloading again. Of course you will need a package disabler or use adb to disable the update files.

That sucks. I will probably bite the bullet and update to Oreo. My only concern is poor battery life.
Thanks for the information.

No problem. I can't comment on battery life for your model but it's been great for me on the 950U1.
i think you can use a package disable and disable the system update
I went ahead and updated to Oreo. Didn't fancy factory reset and installing/configuring tons of apps.
Still have the August update to do.
I'll wipe the cache afterwards. Let's see what it does to the battery life.

Why does Magisk Keep losing Root?

Hello guys!
I don't know if this is normal, but for some reason my Magisk Manager keeps losing root after a while, does anyone know why?
I always get "Magisk is not installed" when I don't use the phone after 2-3 hours, and even less sometimes...
In order to "get access" to root again I have to reboot the phone everytime.
Could someone please help me? Why does this happens?
Here is a picture of what I mean: https://prnt.sc/pif317

It doesn't matter if it's updated to the latest version or not, it still happens
The manager is probably killed by the power management of your phone.
Go to your recent apps and lock the manager.

Same here.
Perhaps it has something to do with change between mobile data and wifi, but I am not sure.
I have the same issue in my poco PE10 rom.

with AOSP don't must happen !! only with miui usually..
Hello,
It happened to me today on LineageOS 16. I disabled the power management, I'll see if it works.
Edit : It has been two days and I haven't seen the problem reappear. Disabling the power management may be a solution.
Power management does not solve the issue in my case. Still every 2-3 days I get the error and have to reboot (like in Windows 95

Swipe or press to your recents, swipe to magisk manager, press on the dots in the top line, select lock.
A lock needs to appear in the topline.
->Problem solved.
