When i put imei of my nexus 6 on imei.info it shows that its the imei of droid mini 2..
Pop out the SIM and take a close look at the tray. The actual IMEI should be printed on the tray. If the numbers match the site may be reading your IMEI wrong. Otherwise it's a cloned IMEI.

Would anyone be willing to share their imei numbers. Mine is being denied for repair
Are you sure that is going to help?
Once they get your phone they will see the IMEI doesn't match what you told them.

Well my problem is my moto x is completely shattered so I can't use it or check my imei which is why it won't work. I am trying to request a repair but you cannot request one without an imei. Since my moto is broken I doubt they can see that imei dosent match. If you could share yours with me it would really help man.

Do you have the box? the IMEI is on the label affixed to the end flap.
Did you join for the Moto Feed Back Network? if so, your IMEI is in your Moto profile.
Does your phone power up? If so, put it in fastboot mode. then on your pc... mfastboot getvar all will report your IMEI.
And sorry, I'm not comfortable sharing my IMEI.
EDIT: another possible way... visit -> https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/home/ and sign in. Use the My Stuff icon in the upper right.
And last but definitely not least... sign into -> https://www.google.com/settings/dashboard and scroll to ANDROID section, your android devices should be listed under there. You can view its IMEI there.
Your provider should also have a record of the IMEIs you have used with your account. Regular customer service may or may not have access to the list though.
Its either you're lying and trying to steal someone's IMEI.... Or you and Customer Service are too dumb to check the IMEI printed on the Sim Tray.
Pop out your Sim Tray, the IMEI is printed right on there.

Discussions about sharing or changing the IMEI number is not allowed on XDA.
Thanks.

I've bought a used Galaxy Note N7000 from a private seller.
It works on one particular sim but when any other sim is put into it, it shows as if no sim is inserted in phone.
But the real surprise is that the IMEI number in the phone is different from the one on the sticker under the battery.
The IMEI number in the phone actually belongs to a Galaxy S3.
I'm unsure if both things are linked but can anyone help how I can rectify this.
recently aquired a xt1053 (t mobile) under settings/about phone/status under imei it says 0, under back battery cover at bottom the sticker is not there and in the sims tray no imei, complete disassembly and found no imei, this device seems to be new , still has the factory plastic film on touch screen, i found utility called( MTK droid root & tools) thats restores imei number listed as 0 but i must have the imei number to complete process, MTK recognizes the device but also shows imei as 0, is there a file in device that stores imei number, is there a way to recover it ? is it possible this device was never given an imei number? this device came from a lot which all seemed new and nun had the battery covery and i assume now all devices must not have had imei numbers, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds pretty shady to me. Return it while you can. If you can.
Tampering with imei numbers is widely illegal and not a topic for XDA. If you lost it, that's one thing... If you had a backup, great. But if you don't have one, creating one or "obtaining" a number somehow is illegal.
Again, return it. They are probably stolen. Or clones or something illegal. ?

So I just got a new Nexus 6 to replace my other Nexus 6 (cracked screen).
I have a nano sim that worked without any issues for months in my original Nexus 6. It has an IMEI number ending in 858 and an IMEI SV of 10.
When I transfer the sim to the new Nexus 6, the phone recognizes that a SIM has been inserted and it reads an IMEI, but it will not recognize anything about the network. It gives me an IMEI number ending in 592 and has an IMEI SV of 0A.
My gut tells me that the SIM reader in the new phone is busted and this is just garbage it's reading. But it's fully repeatable, despite whatever cleaning/blowing/speed-of-insertion I have been trying to get it to work.
Question is: is it possible to have two similar phones read different IMEI numbers from the same identical SIM card?
My understanding is that the IMEI number is device specific and not related to the SIM card at all. I would expect that getting a new device would result in a different IMEI number.
I agree. It's the *device* that owns the IMEI, not the SIM.
I just purchased a used H811 Tmobile LG G4. Popped in a Tmobile SIM and it's working fine.
However, to my great surprise, the IMEI number displayed from Settings or by dialing *#06# does not match the one printed on the label behind the battery.
Tmobile rep actually said that this might be due to CDMA support on G4, which requires a different IMEI.
I am not so sure this makes sense.
Does anyone's IMEI number not match like mine?
Thanks in advance.
Can't check right now but I believe the one in software is the one that cell companies see and block if needed. The printed one is for hardware repairs and such. Though they should be the same number. I'll check later and report back.
Phone was blacklisted and someone changed imei so it would work. Both numbers should match unless the phone has been tampered with. Sorry
