Any ideas?
I have been experimenting with upgrading and down-grading my tab, it now seems that I can't flash any ROM that contains a hidden.rfs, the flash will just stop near the end of flashing the hidden.rfs and never continue, then I have to go through recovery processes to get a working tab back.
I managed to get my Tab back to CPW standard UK JJ3 by dumping the ROM from my other Tab and writing it, I then tried to update with Kies, which also hung at what seems to be exactly the same place.
I have tried repartitioning several times with the p1_add_hidden.pit but it just doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas? Can I check the size of the hidden partition see if that' the problem? Then modify the hidden.rfs to make it smaller so it fits?
Nobody at all got any feedback on this?
Anyone had any luck with this? I'm guessing it's a partitioning issue but it'd be good to know.

It sounds like you're currently partitioned without the hidden partition. I would think flashing a full ROM like JJ4 with the P1_add_hidden.pit in Odin would be the fix.
After thats up and running, use my JMC upgrade package to safely upgrade.

Roto i wanna ask you something. You say "safely" upgrade why ? Because on your FW's you remove the boot.bin and the SBL.bin ? So that a user wont be able to flash them and something go wrong ?
As far as i know my tab ( A euro one ), is factory unlocked and i will have no problem whatsoever in upgrading the bootloader and the baseband.
Isnt that right ?

Unlocking is unrelated. I say safely because flashing a bootloader is the only thing that makes me squirm. If it fails your device is toast. I never want to give anyone firmware that has the potential to destroy their device. I'd feel bad

And you are so right in removing them...
The leaks from Samsung's servers of JM6/JMA/JMC/JMD flash a signed recovery, after flashing it is impossible to flash unsigned sbl, boot, and zImage. No more downgrade (and possibly upgrade).

I thought my original post covered this? I can't flash _any_ ROM that uses the hidden partition. I have tried repartitioning a dozen times wit hthe p1_add_hidden.pit, that goes through fine, but NO ROM, full or otherwise, down or up from my current one will successfully complete flashing the "hidden" partition.

You never mentioned JJ4 or Odin specifically, hence my post. Unless you spell out exactly which firmwares you tried and which software you used to flash with, how can anyone offer assistance?
If you've tried ALL firmware and All flashing software, that leaves only your computer or Tab at fault.

Im not really worried about my Tab, i just think its a cause for concern that somehow iv stumbled on this problem. If its just the flash in my tab thats damaged its not a problem.
I have tried every firmware available on samfirmware as well as ripping the firmware from an identical tab i have.
Neither Heimdall, Kies nor Odin (either version) would get past flashing hidden and they all stop at about the same point. I have tried flashing various firmware without hidden with no problems. If i then repartition it will flash about 80% of the hidden then just stops.
Problem isnt my pc, i have tried several machines and virtual machines.
I think its a curious problem that would be good to find the cause of.

I'm around and will hop on the channel now. Don't have too long but maybe we can look into this a bit.
I just noticed what has veen going on with tje secured boot loaders etc. I will check mine with the script once I get home from my trip tomorrow to see if any info froem my tab is relevent to fixing the problem. I noticed a mention of creating jigs, im not sure what hardware is required but I have a couple of usb-rs232 connectors on order for an unrelated project so if it requires the same hardware I can put a spare one to use and build a jtag/jig cable for the tab and see if I can help the cause.

Question for rotohammer
Once upon a time I bricked my Verizon Galaxy Tab trying to flash a custom ROM, the only way I could bring it back was by using Odin and flashing the hidden pit. Now every time I install the original verizon rom my tab is extremely, extremely slow. I have been trying to reformat and wipe clean to start over, but I haven't had any luck.
Any suggestions on how to: either flash the right pit on it or remove the hidden partition? Anything I can do to bring my tab to full speed. I have also tried the overclocked rom with voodoo5, and at this point anything I put there is extremely slow. The only way I can get it to operate normally (Kind of) is to flash the Honeycomb Alpha rom, then restore to a day when it was working fine, however this breaks my auto rotate sensor.
That is how I use it now a days, but it sucks that I cannot use it on landscape mode.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Follow up from my previous question to rotohammer
By the way, just in case you were wondering, the rom I flashed to unbrick it was a GSM ROM, that was the only way to make it past the Samsung logo.
So, my theory is that I have problems with it because now I am trying to flash CDMA roms to a GSM partition/files system? Excuse me if my post does not make much sense or I am using the wrong terminology, I am extremely new a this. I just know enough to get myself in trouble.
Thank you again for any help.
I've encountered the same problem as the original poster. SGT with CPW CSC causes problems with the hidden.rfs when trying to flash ROMs. Does appear to be a size issue with the hidden partition - I wonder whether this has been sized incorrectly when it was originally flashed as re-partitioning doesn't help. I'm currently on a XEU ROM so I guess I'll find out when Gingerbread is officially released whether I can flash that or not. If not, I think it'll need to the internal SD card repartitioning.
Anyone got any tips on how to do this?
I heard something recently about fileshare sites being shut down...is that what I'm experiencing. Tried to download files from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359068 and none of the links work. Actually a couple did but said I could only download a file I uploaded myself. I tried downloading from another thread on this site and had the same problem. Any solutions/alternatives? How can I download from the link I posted above?

I see a KJ4 link. Have you tried the KJ5 thread? It's the newest one for our 7310.
Hi nirogu325, thanks for replying. This is what I am trying to do:
-Enable adhoc connection so I can use my windows mobile phone as a hotspot for my tabl, and
-Enable USB charging for my tab in my car and elsewhere, not just wall jack.
Based on what I've read, I need busybox (Titanium back up says it's installed but when I downloaded an app called wifiadhocenabler, it says it is not installed. Installing it from the market says I need Nand Unlock and this is where I'm stuck at the moment. Do you know how to perform this on the P7310? Or an easier way to meet the objectives above?
Thanks again

I assume you're on a stock firmware. If I were you, I'd flash this specific version which is already rooted and has busybox as you can read in the OP. Also, flash the v2d version of the motley kernel and go here for the USB charging script and instructions on enabling. I know that last link is for the 10.1, but it is the one motley linked to in the v2b version changelog in his kernel thread.
After my soft brick yesterday, I used Odin to "install" the version you attached in your General Guide post P310XARKJ5_P7310UEKJ5_HOME.tar.md5). That's the one, right?
Anyway, the good news is, I decided to install BusyBox without doing the Nand Unlock (maybe it was already done?), and it worked! The wifiadhocenabler app works now and I have a connection to my wm phone! Yay! Before trying the app (for the sake of onlookers) I tried the other method with the wpa_supplicant, such as the one here: http://androidtablethacks.com/android-tablet-hacks/how-to-enable-adhoc-wifi-on-android-tablets/ and it did not work for me. The app did!
So now, I'll try the kernel you posted above and then the USB charging.
I'm going to look over your general guide to see if I can figure out how to flash. I'm guessing it's the same or similar to when I recovered my tab in Odin...?

If you mean flashing a CWM package as the motley kernel, a file goes in the SDcard, you access the CWM Recovery and flash. That's a generic way BUT depending on what you will flash you may have to wipe. That's why I avoided altogether putting generic instructions regarding CWM packages in my guide (instructions may vary between ROM and kernels). Read your flashable package's thread carefully.
kind of like rooting? Yes, do I have to wipe to flash the motley kernel? I'm not seeing the flashable packages thread, can you point me to it?

No, lol. If you want to flash the motley kernel just follow that thread's instructions. I gave you the motley kernel thread link in a previous post. For kernels, no wipe is necessary, for ROMs, yes.

You're welcome. Some people have the tendency NOT to wipe while flashing ROMs...yet complain later on the road. Always wipe when it comes to ROMs if you want to avoid issues. The only bugs you will experience are the ones that come with the ROM already. Better safe than sorry.
Ah, that leads me to wonder...When my tab was soft bricked and I used Odin3 and inserted the KJ5 file into the PDA section, and so on (I think that was flashing), was I supposed to do a wipe before I did that? If so, would it be better if I started from scratch again? ...hoping not, but better now than latter I'm thinking.

No. ODIN clears everything (including kernels, ROMs and CWM Recoveries). Everything back to stock. I was just referring to flashing other custom ROMs (non-ODIN, i.e. CWM flashable) procedures. Stick to the thread instructions in your chosen ROM and you'll be fine. It's just that some don't follow instructions and due to that, they may experience weird bugs.
That's good news, and strange, because after I used Oden3 (in the way I previously described), all my apps and files were still in tact. Does it just affect the system and not the file memory?
P.S. Hey! I'm no longer a noob! lol I just noticed I am now a "Junior Member".

That is because you didn't check F.Reset Time on the left side of ODIN before flashing. It is advisable to make sure it is checked. Thanks, I'm gonna put that little but important detail in my guide (dunno how I missed that one ). I advise using Titanium Backup (for apps backup) and then ODIN. You might be fine as you are, but if you ever experience something weird then you know.

My tablet is definitely a little laggy now, but that could be the 3.2 HC. Since I did not check that off, does it mean that it did not install on a clean wipe? I'm wondering if I should just do it while I remember the path to how I got where I'm at now. I doubt I'll remember everything down the road.
I have been making nandroid backups as well as titanium app backups.

nirogu325,
I'm back to do my clean wipe. I performed the wipe/data reset in nandroid and now it's saying there is an update from KJ5 to LA3. Do you still think the custom kj5 is better than the stock LA3? I'm wondering if I should just install the update, root, install the motley kernel and go from there...?
Hope you're well! I still think you should add a donate link...you don't have to be a developer, your assistance/guidance is equally helpful to the community.
While I'm waiting, I flashed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375112 and then I noticed I have the old CMR so I downloaded your updated package: GTab89Files and I cannot paste a single file from that folder onto my tab. I can paste files from other folders, but this one I copy and when I go to paste the paste option is not enabled; if I drag I get a little red circle with a line through it. Any ideas as to why it's rejecting?

No Devo7v, through my roughly 15 hours of internet research I have not come across a 1 click fix. Just when I thought I was getting good and learning how to move around the android system I bricked. I don't mind paying for my mistakes and learning from them, but I do definitely not want to have to purchase a new phone. I bought the active because it was compact with a descent size screen, nice hardware, remote control, hdmi to tv and I liked the waterproof dustproof feature that I never even tried because I don't trust how waterproof this phone really is. I think It is a great phone when up and running.
P.S. I really appreciate your quick knowledgable response.

I suggest choosing which firmware you would like to flash from the i537 Firmware Thread, download it, and flash it with Odin. If you're currently on ML2, your only option is to reflash ML2 since the ML2 bootloader will not allow you to downgrade to any other version. Before you do anything I would do a little research on Odin so you understand how it works. Far and away, most people that have bricked their phones did it by using Odin incorrectly.

I will definitely read up on odin. My phone is currently at 2nd local cell repair store this week. I called them to have it ready for pick up if they cant fix it today, which I have my doubts. They usually are just phone salespeople that can do a typical flash or change a screen. So this evening or tomorrow morning I will give your recommendation a shot. And when I do and my phone is back up and running I will gladly donate funds to your site or directly to you. I will shoot you a pm tomorrow to touch base.....I should have went this route before I tried these useless cell phone stores around here. I'm sure this post will help many others too....

You don't need to worry about donating anything, I actually have never accepted donations. If you want to send some money, please send it to a charity you feel is worthwhile. If you really want to pay me back, please read as much as you can on everything and try to help others out when they ask questions or need help. Flashing 4.3 isn't that much harder then flashing the one-click, you just need to read and make sure you put things in the right spot.
As for apps top SD, I don't move my apps so I really can't give you much advice.
I'll try to make this long story short. My experience level is pretty low. I've rooted and flashed firmware to a few devices in the past, but Odin worked well and I was always following instructions.
I have a n AT&T Note 3 N900A running 5.0
I accidentally deleted a folder of photos, and needed to root my device in order to attempt recovering the lost photos.
I Tried King root, kingoroot, etc... and failed to root the device.
Then used the N900AUCUBMI1_OneClickBin which Fails it says "SW REV CHECK FAIL: [sbl1]Fused 2 > Binary 1
then i tried Odin and root De la Vega which also failed
Now my device is stuck at "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.
I download latest Kies... it doesnt support my device....
How can I fix this? Is there a rooted rom I can flash to it? I really just want to extract the deleted photos as the device is aging, but now I'm in over my head.
If this isnt something I can do myself, I'm willing to pay monies if there is someone reputable with references that can fix this for me.
Update
I was able to use Odin 3.09 to install CSC_ATT_N900AATTDNL1_CL3032228_QB3188679_REV03_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar
the phone is now able to boot and works fine but.... it is completely wiped.
I had saved most of my stuff odd the phone, but I still need to root and run data recovery on deleted photos
still needing help, please. thank you.
dale.

Would you please let me know how to flag an admin or moderator to move my thread? Thank you for your replies.
I found another software. Jihosoft.
I was able to downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.2 and am running jihosoft now.
It looks like after flashing, I lost any hope of recovering files... im really not happy with this. I wish i hadn't bricked the thing in the first place.
Your post triangle hottom left.

Thanks @JJEgan for your help
I've tried several recovery software.
My entire DCIM filder from the device is gone. I'm assuming because I reflashed that I wrote over it? I'm surprised that 1500 pictures wouldnt be able to be found in the device.... Maybe theres solution I dont know about that can do a much deeper scan?
I'm so upset that I lost everything... Didnt realize it wasnt on the SD card... years of military and family photos gone...
I'd appreciate any help at this point. Does someone have access to forensic tools that can recover the lost data?

I've given up on recovery tools and want to make a .raw image of the internal storage that I can convert into a disc image which I can scan. I'm not really understanding how to do the directions at http://www.asoftech.com/articles/android-enable-mass-storage.html
Update:
I learned a LOT in the last few days.
I went and bought a 64gb SD card and am using Cygwin with the command dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/storage/extSdCard/system.img
I am not certain if this will strip the entire 32gb internal memory and put it on SD card, but we will find out. It is currently at 3gb and growing fast.

Update file is now 8gb,. That must mean it is reading the entire internal memory. I'm doubting I can recover my files, but this has still been an amazing learning process. Will still need to convert the RAW file to a VHD.
I'm not certain I came to the right forums as nobody seems interested in responding. Maybe my problem is too low level for this place?

I successfuly dumped internal memory to an IMG file on the external SD. Scanned teh data but did not find waht I wanted.
I imagine that if I could get direct access to the internal memory I could recover the data, but that is not hardware or software possible anymore, so I learned once again to back up important things.
Thanks everyone for the helpful responses.
Now to decide what ROM to flash...
Any layman that comes across this thread in the future and wants to save deleted files off your phone, my advice to you is: Take the battery out of your phone and stop using it immediately. If you don't have root access, send it to a professional data recovery service and explain the type of files you lost.
Anybody who can test on s20 fe exynos with android 11 bootloader? Thank you.
Sorry for miss choosing the right section. Thank you for having moving it to its right place.
he unlocked his phone with a pin after flashing.
Nobody has tried it?

yep you're right it's the SIM.
a method like this is just saving you a literal 5 minutes. I think it's better that people learn how to take care of things themselves than have to trust someone else to keep things working for them.
setup ADB on your computer to pull the patched file back to the ADB folder and you've got everything already in place.

I don't know anything about such things! I only wanted to root my s20 fe exynos with android 11 bootloader but i couldn't find how! Im not ready to try that method as i am afraid to screw up something that i could not solve. It may be easy to some of you to unbrick or save your phone. Now im asking if this method is safe or if you can make it alot safer. That what xda forum is made for
in the one sense, the method is completely safe. if you untick the autoreboot option in Odin it should tell you if the flash has failed and you can reboot out of and back into download mode.
it's kinda unsafe to flash files from someone you just find on YouTube with barely any views.
you can use the same guide as the 5G snapdragon version or even the regular S20/21, the steps are going to be identical.
there are 2 main methods for root, 1 via recovery and 2 via patching (same as the video, except you create the patch instead of using someone else's).

for the benefit of saving yourself 5 literal minutes you could be letting someone put malware onto your phone.
read this... https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html
it's the process this video is based on. even just to get more conceptually familiar with what's happening it worth a read.

These steps are difficult for me. I try to read but it is hard. I'm just wondering why xda devs didn't post how to root s20 fe Exynos android 11 ui 3.1! Can't find except that video and he claimed that it works.
lots of people here are rooted, Exynos and Snapdragon. it doesn't matter which phone the guide is for, the principle and files are the same (apart from TWRP versions if using TWRP).
see if you find this easier https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/recovery-unofficial-twrp-for-galaxy-s20-fe-exynos.4205453/
