Try holding the volume down button and power button. Are you rooted?

ODIN back to stock and see if it still does this afterward. If it does, sounds like a defective device.

Hi all
My girlfriend's sister got a Moto G 2014 this past Christmas.
It's unlocked, and I THINK she already got the 5.0 upgrade.
Yesterday she dropped the phone into me as "all of a sudden it stopped working"
The phone is bootloopin. The white Motorola powered by Android screen will come up, it buzzes, and restarts the phone.
The battery ran out by itself, but that made no difference.
Put the phone on the charger, pressed the power button after a while and same thing happened.
Only difference is that now every now and again it also shows the 0% empty battery screen.
Read around here somewhere about getting into the recovery and wiping the cache partition might solve this, but the button combinations I've seen online (pwr+up/dwn or pwr+up) don't seem to be working.
AND to make it worse, she obviously has no receipt for this.
So please... any ideas?
Charging for just a few minutes may not not be enough. You need to charge it for an hour or so then try to boot to recovery.
Charge it for 1-2hrs..then press power+voldown button together.. Hold it for 5 secs and release them together.. Now tell me whether the bootloader opens or not?

Unfortunately, as soon as the phone starts charging it turns itself on and goes into boot loop.
No buttons pressed or anything, as soon as it stars getting charge it's on!

While plugged in, you should be able to hold the power down until the screen goes black, it may take a few seconds.

Nope, no matter the duration of holding the button, it just keeps on bootlooping.
It's not even holding a charge as it starts bootlooping as soon as there's some juice in it.
Never seen anything like it!

Since it is booting or at least trying to, have you tried holding just the volume up or volume down by itself through one of those bootloops. I mean just keep holding the volume button without touching the power button. This is the major fault I can find with a non-removable battery. You can't easily remove the battery, which will fix some common problems.

Volume Up button doesn't stop bootloop.
Volume Down button DOES stop bootloop.
Afterwards:
Power button - Back to bootloop
Power button plus Volume Down button- Back to bootloop
Power button plus Volume Down buttonfor 5 seconds then release - Back to bootloop
No button pressing - Back to bootloop after 15/20 seconds by itself
Hi..
I have a problem with my note 5..
Accidentally I've dropped it in the water!
At first it restarted itself and worked fine for a min, but then the screen turned off suddenly..
Couldn't remove the battery normally as you know it's hard to remove in Note 5..
Tried to dry it with the hear drier, the screen worked afterwards, but the power button feels like damaged already..
Didn't mind it at first because I have the download mode method to restart the phone.
After many hours I discovered that the screen isn't working fine! it looks like working for about 9 hours then go to black suddenly and stays at this for few hours, then it works again. (when it goes black feels like touch still working but no display)
Because I've already rooted it, I know I'm gonna pay for repairing it no matter.
I went to repair it but couldn't pay that much!
I decided to repair it myself, I've done before something alike.
After I've disassembled it and reached screen wires, I've just unplug it and cleaned it and re-plug it..
When I plug the charger finally I see the charging screen every time I plug and unplug it, that means it's finally works! (Before, even charging screen doesn't appear when the screen goes black!)
but the sad thing, I've discovered that it won't turn on neither goes to download mode!
I thought at the begging that volume up and down buttons damaged too (I didn't touch anything else except the screen), but I knew that they're fine because when I press them the charging screen lights up, just like when I press Home button but it won't goes to download mode!
but the power button still doesn't work..
now I'm stick at the charging screen, what should I do?!
I wrote all this in detail so I hope it helps.
Thanks..
Edit:
When charging, it charges no problem, but can't turn it ON and couldn't reach download mode..
Thanks, solved it already using ADB
But still the colors a little annoying and not clear..
but it's OK as long as the device works!
I thought it's dead..!
What did you do with ADB to fix the problem?
I'm having the same issue with my Note 5 showing the normal charging screen, but will not actually power on with any button combination.
Thanks.
Hey Everyone, so i got a note 5 from someone to fix or to trash so i decided to try and fix it.
The person i got it from stated she was charging the phone one night (blue charging light on) and took it off the charger but the screen would not turn on.
She hard reset the phone by pressing the power button and tried to turn it back on, after that no screen but only a blue light at the top of the phone stayed on.
She again turned it off and took it in for repairs. They could not find out what was wrong with the phone, didnt seem dead, battery was fine no damage at all to this device (zero not even a scratch on the screen)
So now, i got the device and when plugged into the computer, i dont get any sort of lights on the phone, nothing on the screen, the phone will briefly show in the device manager then it will be gone, i can hold down the power button and it shows Exynos7420 in the device manager, i let go of the power and it goes away.
Phone is 100% dead.
IS the device hard bricked?
Hard ware issue?
Just looking for ideas to bring a basically perfect condition phone back to life for some use.
Thanks guys
