I accidentally selected HTC ( next to NOOK COLOR ) when trying to install CWM in ROM MANAGER. Now it says current version is 2.5.0.7 and suggests to update to latest v3.2.0.1. However, when I select the upgrade option I get the error " An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands"
The same error shows up when I try to run permissions. Market doesn't give me the option to uninstall ( only open ).
I am running CM7 #114 & OC 20110618 on EMMC.
Thanks for your help.

your "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" is coming from a lack of SU access to that program. Try going to the SU icon and making sure your ROM Manager has the elevated SU access permission.
You can always download the recovery image from Koush's website Recovery Image Link .
store just the image in the root of the SCard then from you CMD ADB prompt or the terminal emulator type. only type the ADB shell if you are using the SKD ADB to talk to the device.
Code:
adb shell
su
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
and that should reflash the correct image.
Thank you so much - that fixed the issue right away.

NP glad i could help you out.
I've been trying to figure this out all day and I'm stumped.
My stock Droid recently failed to get past the bootloader.
I'm following the directions from the CM Wiki titled "Motorola Droid: Full Update Guide" (no direct link because of my new account, sorry) and others I've found and they all seem to be exactly the same.
I've got SPRecovery installed no problem and after I run the update.zip I get a successful install message, including "enjoy your root".
The problem is in the next step where I ADB it doesn't appear I actually have root access.
I think this may be because I'm connecting to my phone from the SPRecovery menu, but I'm not sure.
This is what my cmd screen looks like when I try to follow the steps under "Installing ClockworkMod Recovery" > "Second Method (manual method)".
Code:
C:\Users\XXXX>adb shell
/ # su
su
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
I noticed that in SPRecovery there are "mount options", so I tried mounting /system and trying again and I get basically the same thing, but without the "/" and without the directory
Code:
C:\Users\XXXX>adb shell
# su
su
su: not found
I'm not Linux savvy enough to know the difference unfortunately. I've tried 3 different update.zip from 3 different sources, but all appear to be the exact same thing.
Typing "busybox" in the ADB shell kicks back all the functions so it appears to be installed.
"adb devices" kicks back "040388990E0EDITED recovery"
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, it's getting very frustrating.
Do you have the opportunity to root your phone from the Recovery-Menu?
I have OpenRecovery (OR) and when I boot in OR i can manually chose to root my phone.

You can also simply download the SuperUser App from the market. This roots your phone.

I'm about 99% certain that is false. If it was that easy, I would have heard about it. Plus the only SU app on the market states " Grant and manage Superuser rights for your phone. This app requires that you already have root.."
I want to root my device but it's failed
i deleted IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk
"adb shell rm /data/local.prop" is not working i'ts says: error: device not found
Sorry for my bad English
Did you follow the below steps.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1818502
Just install the apk and reboot the phone. Do not open the app after installing it. Restart the phone. Phone will be very slow.
Remember to copy the necessary files to pc and then run the script in command prompt. It will work. After that you may uninstall the app.
Check your phone drivers .

By pressing "THANKS" You Would Help Me
you install the app and then open it so you see the hello world text, then you reboot your phone and then do the o4xr root process(open the root.bat) then your phone will restart then delete the app, being sure not to re-open it otherwise you need start from the beguinning again
I'ts working ! Thanks!! :good::good:
I am using SuperOneClick, I have the phone plugged in and when I press 'Root' it says 'The following device does not have drivers installed: Android USB\VID_04E8&PID_6860&MI_03 Would you like me to forcefully install an Android ADB Interface Driver for this device?' So i hit yes and then it gives me an unknown error then the app crashes, every time.
Hello guys, it's the first time that i post in XDA, i don't know if i am in the right place (sorry if no, and sorry for my bad english), but i have a tablet RK3066 (DL tablet 3003) (at least is what cup-id say) and i have recently flashed it to stock firmware, before, i had root acess in it, i don't remember how i did it at the first time, but i was with serious problems to do it.
Ok, now, after i flashed it, and try to root again, i tryed to use Kingoroot via pc, and it says "root success", but Supersu.apk don't update the binary and even if i tap cancel update, the app that need root permission don't is prompted and can't get permission.
Ok, you can say, so, you haven't root installed, try another way!
But, how can i do not have root installed if, even with this things, in adb i have all the permission?!
And the most curious, i know if you will use adb shell it will return a line with this $, and then you type "su" to it turn into #, but here no! When i use adb shell it comes already with a #, to be more especific, it comes like this "[email protected]:/ # ".
So, i don't know more what can i do cause i have root acess via adb, but Supersu.apk don't update binary and don't prompt to permissions.
I have a custom CWM for RK3066 generic from androidtab, but with some erros to mount some folders like sdcard, system...
If someone know how to fix this i will be thankful.
I was thinking about a way to change apk permissions via adb, someone can say to me how can i grant permissions to apk via adb commands?
Thanks, and sorry for my bad english, i am brazilian that never studied in a english school, and sorry if i am in the wrong place for this!
PS01: I already try to unroot but without success, any way, i can unnistall and install supersu any time but no work, can't update binary.
PS02: I have this issue too via cwm:
HTML:
E:Can't find misc
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/command
E:Can't find misc
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E:Can't mount /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E:Can't find misc
E:Can't mount /sdcard/
If can help you, i am posting the cache/recovery/last_log files pulled via adb. and a SS of the adb shell in #.
I already try to use TWRP but the touch is with some issues in this recovery mode!
PS03: I used KingoRoot to root it again, then, it installed KingoUser(to grant permissions, it is working), but i want to use Supersu, and Supersu cannot update binary.
If you're running Android > 4.2, you may try the solution in the attachement. If you're running Windows, and if your Android system is 32 bit, just (double) click on the *-32.bat file.

There should be a howto in the forum's manuals to close a thread
The kingroot stuff puzzled me to the point that I started to play with it. I quickly found out that it was difficult to remove. I could do it with a few scripts in the attachement. The key point is removing file attributes. I look forward to hear of success or failure with details.
