The phone: HTC Incredible S
The country: Canada
The Network: Telus
The OS: 2.3.3
The Sense: 2.1
Extra info: Not rooted anymore, problem started bout a week ago, dock mode openned alone when I plugged it in to charge at night via the oem htc usb cable and box.
The problems:
-Calls automatically go to speakerphone, both outgoing and incoming.
-No media sound plays from speakerphone or wired headset.
-No locking/unlocking screen sound
-No ringing sound when an outgoing call is connecting, Just silence until the other person answers. (makes it very awkward)
-Phone will randomly go into dock mode when I charge it at night and sometimes when it's in my pocket in the middle of the day
-When I make a call, I can press the home button and then go into any media (music, video etc) and if I play it, magically the media sound does play (at the same time as the call is on). As soon as I hang up the call, the media sound shuts off even though the song keeps playing (I can see the time advance, just no sound)
When I receive a phone call, text, voicemail etc the notification sound/ringtone plays well and loud.
I can only assume the phone believes it's in dock mode all the time?
Settings:
-Car panel set to NOT auto-launch
-Dock mode set to NOT auto-launch
-Media sound is set to high
-Flip for speaker is off
In the past week I have been going crazy. I have unrooted my phone, reset everything to factory, done factory resets like 4 times so far...took battery out for 3 hours...nothing worked. I have also tried wires headset routing fix, didnt work. I have tried installing invisible dock, still didnt work.
NOTES: I bought this phone second hand a while ago and have no waranty, nor do i have 250$ to buy another one. I am willing to root, use es file explorer to delete the dock mode completely, and change whatever code to make the phone forget dock mode exists. Or just make it not do anything when it enters dock mode.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!
Thanks
(Before I get slammed for not searching, I have been searching for over a week on this stuff, haven't found a single person with all the problems I list, most people can use headset for media or have some different issues, and half those threads don't have answers...which is why I came to the best tech forums )

aaah, now I got it yeah, try deleting everything that has sth to do with dock. Or at least deactivate. definitely a weird-o-problem
You do have a situation that is unusual for sure.
The only thing I could suggest is that you try the WWE GB 2.3.3/Sense 2.1 ROM to rule out the Telus crapware in your current ROM.
Since you have a IncS NA model PG3212000, you will need to use the pre-rooted stock version in the Development section, so you will need to root and install a custom recovery in order to flash it.
The ROM you want to look for is the WWE 2.30.405.1 version:
WWE 2.30.405.1 stock ROM

I have just purchased an ebay dock, I will try to dock/undock it.
Also to delete the dock APK's do I have to be rooted? I kinda just unrooted yesterday haha... I will have ES file explorer, just I would think I'd need superuser to delete those kinds of files? (Sorry I am a noob when it comes to rooting...thank god for this noob friendly forum which assisted me in rooting it last time )
Also I have tried plugging/unplugging usb cable and headset didn't do anything, I also have toothpicked the hell out of all holes (lol) on the phone, she just doesn't seem to like it (lol again)
I will get some compressed air and try getting crap out...
EDIT: As for telus crapware the phone was originally with bell, I unlocked it and got a custom rom without bloatware, however now that I unrooted I am back with the Bell ruu/rom installed with all bloatware inclussive. However this started before all this back when I was rooted, and persists through unrooting.

How do I "disable" an APK? I can force stop "Dock mode" however there is no disable option,. IE even if I close it, it would be able to run again. Also there is no dock.apk, just the dock mode icon in app manage...Anyways even when I force stop dock mode, the problem persists. I believe is may be a physical issue where the usb pins are always touching or something like that and it automatically disables media audio AND launches dock mode...rather than dock mode changing the media sound.

I know that there is no dock.apk it was just a random name, that you get what I mean Mmmhm... that's bad, you can't disable every app. It works with most of them but some are just too deep included. If you get yourself root access again you can kick the apk by using RootUninstaller
Hey guys.
I have the famous USB port problem, in which, even after disconnecting the charger, the phone shows charging, and dis-charging in an infinite loop. So due to this, the screen doesn't switch off because, due to this problem, the phone thinks that the charger is being connected and removed, connected removed .. so on. and hence, the phone sometimes acts like a heater, and also oozes battery. Just like is in the starting of this video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duzTDyt_bN4
As a solution to this problem, I switched to MIUI (the Venegence MIUI 5), which recognized the small intervals of charging and disconnecting as just charging, and hence didn't keep the screen on. But there was a problem. the MIUI got bloated, (and also i got pretty bored using it). so i had to swith to official JB again. And again the same problem continued.
If MIUI doesn't recognize the small connect and disconnect, why does the TW JB? and is there any tweak that can be applied on the stock JB rom, to not light up the screen when charger is connected? i think that the phone keeps the screen on because it thinks that it has been connected -> 'turn screen' on and disconnected -> 'turn screen on' and connected -> 'turn screen on' again. If it is said to the phone, don't turn on the screen when connected or disconnected, then i think the problem is solved. then there is no other problem on the phone like the others have. - pc not recognizing, connect disconnect sound or anything. everything else concerning the USB port is working fantastic. just this screen on thing.

It's Note's weak spot. I had the same problem and it's obviously not rom related. I fixed it by replacing the usb port. It's a couple of bucks on ebay and there are YouTube guides on how to do it.

there is xposed module which includes the option for wake up on plug. Gravity box has it, there should be another module too with that feature. Also in Omnirom it is already included in settings>display>wakeup on plug if you uncheck it, it wont wake up on plug and unplug.

You dont need nothing of these things, you only need your phone rooted and ICS or + (even kitkat supports Xposed modules).

But the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316070 says (and that too in red) that it is not for the TW roms. Can you confirm? Can you provide with some instructions or link which i should follow for installing Xposed module on the stock TW JB roms? I currently have TW JB + HelloWorld kernel.

I first installed the gravity box, set the don't wake on plug, rebooted, but the screen still turns on. removed gravity box, installed the xposed additions, set the don't wake on plug, rebooted. the screen still turns on, but it vibrates when the display shows charging and not charging. I suppose the Samsung Framework doesn't support don't wake on plug unplug.
can anyone tell me which kernel is required as prerequisite for the omnirom? I am currently on the helloworld kernel. does this kernels CWM has the selinux support?

I have found 2 revisions for the same part. how to know which revision fits inside mine? the date on version 1.0 is 08/2011. i bought my phone in 06/2011. so i think this must not be the rev i need. maybe the 0.0. but does it matter? is it important to know which rev is inside mine? or is the 1.0 backwards compatible, in case i have the 0.0?

I didn't find any difference while searching for mine. Just look for n7000 usb charging port replacement.
http://m.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?kw=G...d=&sqp=&_trksid=p2056088.m2428.l1312.TR1.TRC0
The second one comes with screwdrivers.
EDIT
Just checked my old usb charging port that I still keep after it has been replaced and it has the following stamp with golden letters:
N7000/I9220_SUB_REV1.0 2011.08.30
I bought my phone May 2012. Not sure if it matters though...
Hope this could be of some help.

Try using a different charging cord, also just try plugging in and out a few times. Mine did the same thing (not due to update) but it turned out it was the charging cord was bad.

Nothing man, but thanks for try
Exact same thing happened to me
After getting "update now or in <24hours" for the last 6 month I decided to properly re flash my phone to get the latest version so the update would go away.
I used this guide to install the recommended version 5.1.0-LPA23.12-15.0
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/xt1053-222-27-5-stagefright-ota-update-t3210786
only thing I did differently was use my already installed mfastboot which worked without error
Everything worked fine, battery at 90%. I downloaded the OTA update and rebooted to install and put the phone down and come back after a moment. Phone is black, try to power on with Power and Power + Vol Down. Nothing works. I also tried charging and charging and pressing the buttons.
As far as I know it's just ****ed and there is nothing to do about it but any suggestions I would be willing to try. For anyone else I would not recommend this just in case try the TWRP System Image or the newer builds.
Edit:
I made an error by updating to the more recent one before re-flashing to the recommended one, this is known to hard-brick your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/how-to-resurrecting-bricked-moto-x-t2629057

My MOTO X xt1056 doesn't charge while it is off and the charger port is broken due to the plug becoming lose from daily use for 3+ years. The best bet to do is to return it to the store and tell them that it just stopped charging and they should replace it with the same device or a slightly used newer model.
Hello everyone,
Having major issues with my Idol4S. It is the unlocked version (Cricket). It was working just great until a few days ago when I plugged it into the car charger. Phone instantly shut off, and got stuck with a blinking (rapid) LED light. This happens if plugged into my PC, or my Alcatel charger (both the wall and car).
The phone has suffered no damage (had a cover, but it was never dropped or exposed to external weather damage, nor water - I took great care of it), and was working quite well. I'm unable to boot it into any sort of recovery mode (as the screen is black, so I wouldn't be able to see anything anyways). The only indication of life is the flashing LED when plugged in ..(charging loop, maybe?)
I am using my idol4S Win10 (TMO/unlocked) phone in the meantime, but the base model was working just fine before this happened. I was also mindful of checking voltage/Amps when using chargers, so I would not have exposed it to any incorrect input/output. QuickCharge worked great too (sorely missed on Win10 model).
The phone was never rooted so it has the stock ROM, and whatever the last update Alcatel had pushed out for it. I did have developer mode and USB debugging on for MSVC/NSDK.
Is there anything I can do? After awhile being plugged in, the LED shuts off. I kind of need it as I was porting my game engine to it (using the SDK), plus it was my primary. I love the Win10 version too, but the Android idol4S was my primary phone. Kind of disappointed in Alcatel - I read it doesn't have an external battery otherwise I would attempt to transplant the battery (if that is even the issue). . .
Any tips, advice, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! <3
what you describe is what the phone does when it's plugged into the PC in download mode. Since you have the Cricket version which is also what I have, it is very easy to start from scratch and reflash everything. I have released a newer version TWRP and also have the ~CricketRom~ available if you're interested.

Okay, but would it work even though the phone gives no indication of being plugged in to the computer, or the chargers for it? I plugged it into the PC just now, brief flash of light and then nothing. .
Should mention again that the screen does not turn on, ever since that day, the screen has not came back on -- so I really can't do anything, even accessing 'download mode' does not show anything on-screen, nor does Windows 10 alert me of the USB device being connected.
I wouldn't mind starting from scratch at this point. I'm definitely interested in getting up and running again! It's not like I can do anything else at this point except spend money and get it repaired by TCL.
Would it be rude of me to ask for links to the TWRP/CricketROM from you? Maybe a quick-start guide, I pick up on things easy, but I've never properly flashed with TWRP =)
Also @PizzaG, THANK YOU for your help!! Definitely appreciated <3
Oh! @PizzaG, I also have an older Onetouch Idol 3 that has the _exact_ same symptoms, I wonder if that too could be recovered? ... ^__^
well I guess the first thing to do would be plug it into the PC. Hold volume+ and volume- then hold power until you feel the buzz and let go of power. Hopefully you get the red Download mode screen? I didn't realize it had no life at all, I thought it was just messed up. It's sounding like more may be wrong then just a simple reflash.

Does anyone face this problem as well??
Whenever I plug in the charger, or even the USB type-c cable into my phone, if the other end is connected to any power source, my phone would freeze for a while and then restart.
Does anyone have an idea about this problem?
Have you tried different adapter/cable/USB port? How old is the phone? Using stock firmware?

Yes, I have tried a bunch of cables, adapters and USB ports. I've tried one plus & Samsung chargers, tried plugging in the car, laptop and also some battery banks. There's nothing much I can do now. It seems that the moment the type c port is in contact of a current source, it freezes and eventually restarts.
The phone is almost a year old now, bought it last October. I started experiencing this problem in March. I have been living with it quite a while now. I was waiting if anyone else experienced this particular problem but it seems that no one has. The only freezing videos I saw were from another issue wherein the phone automatically restarts while being used. Mine won't restart abruptly, it would do that only when it actually touched a power source. But here I feel the problem is quite different.
I'm still using the stock firmware. I have tried factory resets and also followed the instructions on this link too.

Another issue is that I bought it in India last year, and now I'm located in Canada. I can't go back to India to get it fixed by ASUS since they don't provide an international warranty.

I might root it pretty soon and flash a custom kernel. But I hardly think it's gonna solve any problem
