question, i've got a 6515 and it keeps powering itself on. when i turn it off (with the on switch), it automatically powers on after a few minutes. this drains my battery within 18 hours since the pda function is activated (back light and screen comes on). it keeps powering on automatically every time i turn it off. i disabled all connectivity (no sim present, bluetooth of. so both are disabled). i disabled the gps download applet, so it cannot automatically download. i disabled the active sync setting (After setting it to manually and unchecked all the peaktime settings). i also tried to reflash my current rom (the latest), but it keeps powering on? i also took out all the memory cards and there are no third party applications installed (just did a hard reset). any help is appreciated, or else i will throw the thing out of the window (then i know for sure it will never turn on again)!
mine did the same thing for a while and it was related to activesync and blutooth ativesync. no idea what fixed it tho. sorry
Disable Hardware Buttons
Have you tried to disable the hardware buttons to see if it maybe a button that is getting pressed. To disable them hit Start, goto Settings, tap Buttons, tap the Lock tab, then put a check in the "Disable all buttons except power button" box.
Doesn't seem to be much in here about problems with the camera. The editing function quite regularly locks up - and for reasons beyond me they keep the results of edits in a separate folder with no apparent way to change this. Also if you install Google Googles it crashes. Has anyone come across this?
Google Goggles working absolutely fine on my camera.
And as for problems, I haven't encountered any yet.

No problems here!!!!
Just wonder if anyone else encounter this issue.
I switch my SGC off (by pressing the power button) and put it in the case. A few hours later when I try to switch on by pressing the per button, there is no response until I press and hold the power button then the display turns on. However it shows the startup pictures and then a message stating sd card had been found and if I want to change the location to sd card etc. It seem that the camera had been rebooted. Anyone faces this issue? Is it got to do with me switching of 3G?

Same thing happens to me. The power issue I think happens because of a auto-shutdown feature of the camera, if you pay attention, you will hear the power off sound when you leave the camera on (screen off) for a while. The SD card issue I thnik happens every time the camera shuts down and is turned back on.

In the power panel in settings there is a setting for auto power off and for a fast power on feature. What you've experienced is both of those features in action.
action freeze
Hey I would like to ask for you folks if your galaxy camera works well in action freeze. Mine was very dark when using action freeze. Every stock non rooted galaxy camera. Thank you very much.
Okay. I noticed today that when pressed the power button to wake my phone from sleep the wifi or 3g (depending on where i was and what I was connected to, ie home or away) icon was not showing and thus indicating that it wasn't connected. Hmm, I thought it was odd, maybe it was a display error. But I then noticed that my emails and gmails all came through a few seconds after I unlocked the phone (and the connection icon appeared) and that they had all been sent whilst the phone was asleep. So, it seems to me that the phone is disconnecting from any data source when it goes into sleep mode. Now, I am right in thinking that the whole point of push notifications or setting your email to sync every 5 minutes is that the phone will remain connected even whilst asleep, and then wake up (briefly even) when it picks up an email?
I had no power saver on, no smart sync, wifi set to never sleep. Is this normal? It's pretty important that I get my emails as and when they sent to me. Any advice would be great. I am wondering if it's a bug, and whether I need to take to the phone back to exchange for another one?
Info: not rooted, stock rom software no. 1.28.61.7, kernal 3.4.10-gddcfb8c [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT, carrier EE (UK).
Cheers
you're sure power saver in the top menu wasn't on? because that's what it does, turns off wifi and data when the screen is off for an expended period.
maybe cycle it on and off a couple of times and see if the problem persists...

No, isn't normal.
So, can you upgrade to the latest firmware and, maybe, do a full wipe?
Did you install some app for battery?
And check that your power saver isn't on...
Check under power, setting that sleep mode is off. That on by default on mine. It turns data off after extended screen of time and doesn't require the power save to be activated.

Hmm, no additional battery apps, power saving toggled and definitely off (I purposefully turned it off because of it's data management policy), and sleep mode set to off.
So, I'm right in thinking that you/others actually get notifications then? and wifi/3g is working fine? Looks like it's a return and hope that the next one works (I only got the phone 7days ago). My software update says no updates available, though this is likely to be EE fault. If I can get the shop to exchange I might just do that. Ho hum, another 3 hours setting the thing up again then...
It seems to be a Wifi switching itself off problem...

So, a quick update in case anyone else is having this problem.
I reset the phone to see if it would make a difference and it kind of has. Now I have noticed that if I am using mobile data it's fine. Things are pushed, notifications come through. But if I use Wifi it's a different matter.
it seems that with Wifi on and connected then it works for around 15 minutes when the phone is sleeping (I have done a few tests). After this it seems to shut wifi down and hence no notifications. So it would seem to me that although Power Saving is set to OFF, and Sleep mode (ie no data in sleep) is set to OFF, the phone is still disconnecting from WIfi regardless of the settings. Which is a bit frustrating as I don't want to be connected to the mobile network all the time, especially at home, but still want to know if I receive emails.
Anyone else experienced this Wifi switching itself off issue (and then switching itself on as soon as you manually wake the phone?)? I have to decide whether to return the phone for a replacement or not. If this is a wide ranging issue it might not be worth it - though I'd have thought a simply thing, like keeping wifi on at all times wouldn't be hard to make sure it worked.
there are a few apps available on the play store such as "keep wifi alive" which might do the trick.

Okay, now I feel a bit of Doughnut! I think I've found out what was causing this. So, even though I had Power Saver OFF, Smartsync OFF, Sleep Mode (disconnect data whilst sleep) OFF, I hadn't had a proper look in the Wifi settings, and under Advanced I found:
Advanced>Keep Wifi on during Sleep. This hadn't been set to Always and was set to 'Only when plugged in'. So, changed to 'Always' and now it seems to work (and that would explain why I got emails through the night when charging).
So, apart from feeling a little red-faced for not exploring every single menu available, I am happy it (seems) sorted. If anyone has wifi dropping whilst phone is sleeping it seems there are four steps:
SmartSync = OFF [in Mail app]
Power Saver = OFF [in status bar and Power Settings]
Sleep Mode = OFF [in Power Settings]
Keep Wifi on during Sleep = Always [in Wifi>Advanced Settings]
Hopefully this'll help anyone else who has been having a bit of prolonged blond moment with the phone settings. {retreats to corner}

I have similar problem. Even when I have everything OFF as you suggest, I get disconnected a second after screen goes off. When I turn phone back on, I can see that wifi is on, but all aps are off and wont connect again. I have to turn wifi off and on and applications like skype go again online. I have this problem at home and also at work on corporate network. I have even tried apps that should keep wifi on, but with no change.
Interesting is that after the phone goes to sleep mode, I can see that speed of wifi is changing on phone. The phone actualy stays connected to wifi, but doesn't send or receive data.
The router at home is TP-Link 1043ND with DD-WRT (flashed to last firmware to see if it fixes this problem). I'm not sure what brand and type are corporate APs, but could be some cisco or similar.
Any advice what else I could try?
On my Verizon Galaxy S6 edge, after updating to marshmallow I later got a notification to be able to change different settings based on where I am. I experimented with it and set my phone to automatically turn wifi off, put phone on vibrate, and go into power saving mode when I get to work. I also set it up to turn the ring on and exit power saving mode when I get home. I forgot to set wifi to turn on and have tried unsuccessfully to find the settings for this feature. It's getting annoying and I have no idea how to turn it off. I'm a fairly advanced user of android and have had several rooted phones with custom ROMs in the past, but I'm stumped at this. I've looked through both phone and Google settings with no luck. I also can't find any info on the Web when I search. Has anyone else had this notification pop up and does anyone know where I can go back to adjust the settings?
Widgets?
This same issue has been driving me mad ever since I upgraded to Marshmallow. I was presented with a seemingly useful feature to enable (or disable) features based upon my location - I chose to disable Bluetooth when at home, as I never use it there, right? Wrong! Turns out I use it more than I thought and it's incredibly frustrating when it keeps disabling itself at will!
Anyway, after much annoyance and weeks of trawling through every conceivable phone setting and Google option I finally stumbled upon the solution...in widgets!
Touch and hold any blank area on your home screen, select widgets and look for 'my places'. In there you will be able to find every single option that you wish to undo
I got this problem recently, When screen switch off , any foreground app will go to background, for example if i was reading whatsapp and screen switched off, when i switch it on i see Home screen. also if i press power button screen switched off and take me to home screen when i open it. This happen even when i have a call, when i put phone to my ear the phone app goes background!.
what i did:
1. tried everything might do that in setting
2. reset all application from application manager
3. erased TouchWiz data
4. restart
5. removed fingerprint lockscreen
more: my device is rooted and have application that manage touchwiz and kernel which i did not use recently.
i googled for this problem did not find any solution
any help please?
Solved:
After removing Firefds and XtouchWiz from exposed the problem gone.
I had them few months ago didnt used them recently. Tried to modify setting through them but problem still. So I removed them and now every thing OK.
HI
Just for your information, I had the same problem with my Samsung A40 phone, after 2 days of awful investigation I found out that enabling ONE HANDED MODE had caused this issue. Turn it off, everything goes back to normal
