Well this is my first post here.
To be very short this is not a totally new problem. This is a combination of many problems that has made me totally helpless.
I had rooted my device using x8toolbox beta4, and installed a Gingerxperia V21 custom ROM.
After that i tried unlocking the bootloader, but flashtools continuously kept saying that my device was in MTP mode and strange enough there was no option in my phone's settings to change it.
So I went back to x8toolbox planning on installing the stock ROM back, when i saw busybox installer within.
I installed busybox 1.19.0 and then i asked x8toolbox to check the digitizer on my phone, AND THERE IT STARTED REBOOTING OVE AND OVER.
So now my phone can't connect to my pc for PCC repair or flashtools as MTP mode can't be switched off (and my phone won't turn on for the sd card to be read). And i am stuck with the Sony Ericsson Logo.
Please help me.....thanks in advance.
U have soft bricked your x8.
U can reset your x8 to original 2.1 with the help of following steps.
It's easy. Do it and rooted your phone again

Or just try Flashtool
i think your problem is flashing driver.. try to install on /flashtool/drivers/ the name of drivers is gordon gate.. but if your have a same problem after installed drivers, check your drivers on my computer/drivers.. or try for flashing on other computer..

Thanks for your answer..... But as I said my phone is still in MTP mode and doesn't seem to snap out of it. As i plug in my phone it turns on the green light and then starts rebooting as usual. Is it my driver 's issue? or is it just the mtp mode?? flashtool also says the same thing..:crying:
U cant keep it longer.
Open flashtool then select firmware and ok.
Wait till a screen appear.
Now connect ur phone by holiding back button.

But flashtools shows ERROR and flashing aborted and says that for 2011 line devices make sure your device is not in mtp mode....
Flashtools doesn't work that way....

Don't try to unlock the Bootloader
If the error getting further, Re-install Windows.
It can't be, 3 weeks ago I had the same problem (MTP) .
I can't even install Apps via flashtool, so I try to connect to flashmode.
It works.
As I said try to Re-install windows.
Good Luck.
Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a Xperia SP C5302 and am running the 12.0.a.1.211 firmware.
My problem is that recently Sony PC Companion informed me that there is a new
firmware version out 12.0.a.1.284 and suggested I update. My PC proceeded to download the update
and it asked me to switch off the phone and while pressing the volume down button,
plug in the USB cable. I did exactly that and no response. I tried everything again and still nothing.
I have gone to the official Sony site and checked and they claim that its the Volume Up button,
here is the link..........
unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/fastboot-buttons ( I am not allowed links)
I may have gotten confused with the Fastboot and the Flash tool but however I have flashed a xperia phone before.
I flashed my old Neo V from gingerbread to ICS with no problems.
So my question is this: How do I install this update if my phone wont go to the Flash tool utility or whatever its called?
The volume up and down buttons do not work and I have tried to install Sony's other programs such as Update Service and
Update Engine.........all to no avail.
Some suggestions regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Can't really help with prob but can help to clarify the button pushing.
Button up=fast boot
Button down= flash mode
You can always use flash tools which you can Google for.
Then download any of the .257 or .284 builds put the file inside flash tools folder and then install this to phone while connected to PC in flash mode.

Thanks but what is the difference between the Fastboot and the Flash Mode?
Your suggestion is good except I cant enter either mode at all. I push the buttons and nothing happens.
I use the same program and the same PC but my girlfriends Xperia L handset and it jumps to both modes
fine. When I push the down button on her phone I see immediately on my PC that it has found new hardware
(SEMC Flash device) and when I push the volume up button I see the Blue LED notification light, which from my
research indicated that it has entered Fastboot mode.

Check to see that you have installed the drivers correctly for your phone, if you have the old flashtool then download and upgrade to the latest one and install all the drivers included with it, might work after that.

The difference between them is one is used for flashing stock roms to your phone this flash mode y pressing button down and keeping down while connecting cable to PC.
Fastboot mode is only available if your bootloader is unlocked this is used for sending kernels to your phone again this fine while holding the button up keeping pressed up while connecting Cale to PC.
As suggested forget using PCC or sus but use flash tools instead.

I have never played around with the Bootloader before nor with Custom Roms so I am unsure
to which flash tool you are referring to. is it the one found at the Sony Developers Website?
The one that has the Emma file or whatever embedded?
Also my PC which is running Win 7 Pro installs the drivers automatically for me and as long
as they are successfully installed I am also unsure as to how to make sure that they are the
right ones.
Assuming that I do use Flash tools, where do I get the patch build file or whatever to update the software?
Will this void the warranty?
Many Thanks!
Flashtools is a third party tool that was created by xda devs. It is really easy to use and set up.
It works in same way as Sony update service or PC companion but you are not restricted by what software you can install.
Follow this link to download on PC http://androxyde.github.io/
Install on PC, connect phone to PC while switched on It may prompt you to install drivers.
On this forum most Sony users use this rather than Sony's software.
You can find links to the .257 and .284 builds these are in a file format that flashtools use so no need to extract or rename.
Once installed open flashtools folder and you will see other folders this is where you put any of the roms stock, custom , kernels etc
The only way you will lose warranty is by opening bootloader using flashtools to install software will not lose warranty.
When you are ready to use flashtools power down device and hold volume button down for flash or vol up for fast boot then connect came to PC....
As regards drivers on PC not working I am sure what to say it why you can't buy flashtools does come with drivers for Sp so would say download, install then try connecting phone.
If this don't work I can't help anymore sorry.

Hold The power and volume button up or down Together Don't plug it to the. Then check if bottom led lights blink or not. It should Blink with a specific color depending on which button u hold volume up or down and let me know asap.

Updating using Sony Pc companion doesn't ask for pushing buttons. It's all automated...
Στάλθηκε από το GT-I9100 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk 2
You are wrong about that. It asks you at some point to unplug your phone switch it off and enter flash mode.
Anyways sent my phone back to Sony and they replaced the board. They don't seem to know what's wrong either. They couldn't get it to enter flash mode either.

I know this is a late reply but as I said before in a previous post, I sent the phone to a Sony Repair Center and they ended
up replacing the motherboard for me as something was wrong with it. If nothing you do seems to work then it might just
be a hardware problem and needs to be checked out.
I have sold my SP and bought a Galaxy S3 and had the same issue trying to install custom ROM. Couldnt flash anything at all and
problem was hardware related as well. eMMC chip was faulty and had to replace the eMMC chip and the motherboard.
Good Luck with yours! Hope it was fixed!
Hi!
I'm new here and I have a problem, a huge one to be specific. The main problem: my phone don't want to boot at all, no sony logo, no anything, just a flash of the bottom light (previously a vibration, but for some reason its gone...). When I plug it to my pc it puts itself to flash mode. I previously put existenz 3.0.0 on it without any trouble and I wanted to put Cyanogenmod 11 on it becouse I didn't liked existenz that much. But afterwards my phone don't want to boot. I tried to flash a standard android 4.1 onto it but it just stopped for some reason and stuck. Btw it's a T-mobile phone, and the bootloader is locked.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!? :crying:
Flash for your model .ftf with flashtools
Yes, flash for your model .ftf with flashtool! Then the phone will work!

It is best to try again. I hope it will work. Just make sure the ftf you downloaded is for your device. Also make sure drivers are properly installed. To have all drivers installed, navigate to Flashtool install directory, there is a folder called "drivers", get into it and run the installer there in. Choose "flashmode drivers" and "fastboot drivers". Scroll down a bit, find "Common drivers for Viskan board" and tick that as well.
Your phone can still boot up - that's a good indicator. If it does not react at all, you could have been told by the community that your device was hard bricked. Luckily it isn't.
thanks for all the replys, flashing worked and its running cm11 with ő ne probléma: it cannot fibd the internal storage , anyag solutions?
Hi all,
Not really sure where to post this, so firgured id put it under general questions. I am currently trying to flash android 4.2 to an Xperia Z1 thats currently running 4.4.4 kitkat. - Now feel i should mention at the start, that i am not particually brilliant with android, and am slowly learning the basics.
I am using a program called Flashtool, I have the file that I want to flash over (the 4.2) - I have also gone through the program to install all the drivers. ( I have installed all drivers as i didnt know what i needed and didnt need, and initially tried just installing the z1 drivers ) Flashtool picks up my phone, and tells me what its currently running, it also detects that what version of android i am currently running, but for some reason dosent pick up that ive tried to plug in my phone in flash mode.
The system detects when I start the phone in fastboot mode, but whenever I use Flashtools to try and connect my phone in flash mode, it just keeps asking me to connect the phone. ( I am using Z1 and the standard key is vol down whilst plugging it into the usb cable, however the l.e.d. flashes red and green quickly and then shuts off, cant even be sure that the problem is Flashtools, it might be that i havent put it into flashmode properly??)
any help would be brillant, feel free to contact me via the xda site, or via e-mail [email protected] -
This might be a particularly basic problem to somebody, its had me stumped for days, any help you could give would be massively appreciated,
cheers
Try Older version of flashtool or you are missing some drivers in flashtool folder is file with drivers and you need to check flashtool drivers and z1 drivers and firstly connect the phone and wait to install drivers and next turn off phone and hold vol down and connect without flashtool to install flashtmode drivers and at the end try to flash via flashtool.
If you are sure you have installed drivers correctly then kill any other process on your pc which use adb drivers like pc companion or airdroid etc. Or use other usb port. Or use other pc. Wrong thread though.

Hi all,
So I got this Sony Xperia SP C5303 from a friend of mine which is stuck on a boot loop (SONY logo => XPERIA logo => Orange logo, then screen dims and reboot )
I tried to flash it with FlashTool but nothing, I downloaded the ftf for it and I have installed all the drivers from the flashtool driver folder but nothing, I always get an error on Flasgtool indicating that I must install the drivers
As I said, the phone cannot be booted and I have never connected it to my computer so there were no previous drivers, so what should I do ? (I have Win 7 btw)

Don't know what you mean by all but the three necessary ones are fast boot, flash mode & viskan board drivers. Use the latest version of Flashtool, install those drivers, prepare the firmware and connect the phone pressing the volume down button.

I do have FlashTool the latest version (0.9.18.6) and what I meant by "all" is that when I run the "FlashTool drivers" that comes with the software, it gives me a checklist of the available drivers, I ticked every single one of those drivers, and they're all installed, but still, FlashTool shows an error that the driver must be installed !

You don't need to install all of them, just the three I mentioned. Could possibly be causing detection issues.
Go download USBDeview and see what you got installed. I'd advise you to remove everything Android and Xperia related and start from scratch to avoid conflicts. If you have installed things properly, you phone should show up as something like this in USBDeview -
Normal mode
Xperia SP - USB Composite Device
Fastboot mode
S1Boot - Fastboot Android ADB Interface or ADB Bootloader Interface or something similar.
Edit : Just as I finished posting, my SP wasn't getting detected in adb. Why? Because I had connected my brother's Xperia ZR and for some reason my phone doesn't like other phones being connection on my machine It was showing up as Linux storage unit or something. Reinstalled drivers via FlashTool and everything's good again. Drivers are finicky things man.

LOL, well I've got a little update
I flashed the phone first with Sony PC Companion, after it finished, I plugged out the phone and started it, it took some while to boot, the screen showed up but it wasn't responsive, after a couple of seconds, it dimmed and it rebooted and now it's back to the same old issue (SONY > XPERIA > Orange > Reboot).
Right afterwards, I flashed it using FlashTool (This time it worked perfectly, which is weird) but still nothing, after finishing the flash and plugging out the phone, it's stuck on the SONY, XPERIA and the colorful waves bootanimation ....
I've no idea what is wrong with this thing now

Well the fact that it's getting there means there isn't anything significantly wrong with it.
Have you tried rebooting it using the off button at the back? Sometimes it does that the first time booting into the ROM. Just press and hold the button for a few seconds with a pen or a toothpick to reboot the device.
You could also boot back into recovery and do a factory reset just to see if it helps the cause.
You can also try different firmware versions. Maybe 4.1.2 instead of 4.3.
BTW is the boot loader unlocked on the phone?

I did try the tiny yellow OFF button in the back several times through the flashing process and whatnot, but nothing .
I tried getting into recovery mode but it just won't it just keeps on doing the same bootloop as before
I dunno if trying a different firmware would help, I highly doubt it but I will try it as I got nothing to lose
I've no idea what that boot loader is but I DID try to unlock it using FlashTool's BLU and I got this in the log "07/029/2015 21:29:05 - INFO - Your phone bootloader cannot be officially unlocked"

You need to press either the volume up or down button a few times when you're booting up to get to the recovery. If you have done it right then after the Sony splash screen you should go into the recovery.
Boot loaders need to be unlocked to be able to flash custom recoveries & ROMs but forget about unlocking the boot loader for now since you do not know what it is and without your phone working there's no way of knowing for sure of it can be done or not.
Like I said try doing a factory reset in the recovery or a different firmware to see if it helps.

Well, I just did some research and I found out that Sony phones do not have a stock recovery mode . . . So there's no recovery mode for me (I did try but nothing)
I'm going to try to unlock the boot loader using SDK and if nothing happens, I'll try to flash it with a different firmware

Oh damn I forgot you had flashed stock firmware...yeah Sony phones ship w/o a recovery. Even if it had one, it wouldn't be much use other than wiping cache & dalvik, factory reset and installing official signed updates. A big reason why people unlock their boot loaders to install a custom recovery.
Before you proceed try to understand as much as you can about what you are doing. Don't go in half cocked and create more problems for yourself. The main problem you face is that you don't have a working system so
a) you don't know whether you bootloader can be unlocked to begin with and
b) even if it can be, you can't take a TA backup to save your warranty cause your phone's not working. If you don't take the backup before the first time you unlock, your warranty's pretty much gone forever.
If you still wanna proceed, check out the link below. Another poster wanted to unlock recently so the thread below contains boot loader unlocking instructions. There are four I have listed. Read carefully before you proceed.
