Wanted everyone's opinion on this. I never used swipe before, but I seen my brother using it and it looked pretty cool. I know a few people use it, So I wanted some opinion's on what hero users think. Thanks

I'm in the Swype beta, and I've used it in the past, but it can be a pain in the ass to get working after changing roms, so I generally use the LatinIME board. All things considered though, Swype kicks ass once you get used to it.
I'm using it now & it's nice but yeah you do have to get used to it but after you should be good to go. Once you get used to it you'll notice your texting & typing will become a lot quicker
For those of you who use the touch (non swiping) keyboards I'd recommend trying out SwiftKey.
I used swype almost since the beta was first released and never thought I'd switch. But after using the SwiftKey beta for about a week - back when it was still in Beta - it changed my mind.
The predictive text works really well and there's a lot less movement compared to swype.
But out of the two options the OP listed, I'd definitely go for swype. No question

Where can I get a swype apk download ?
Personally I prefer the GB keyboard. I've used both. I can type very quickly with the GB keyboard. Swype and the HTC keyboard are tied for second.

In my opinion, I think Swype is really good but. I think the HTC keyboard is really good, but since I found the ginger bread keyboard I think its awesome. On the other hand, there are some tweaks that I want but ill wait till the next generation keyboard

It just isn't happy when you switch between them.. You have to reinstall a lot if you are a chronic flasher..
I prefer swype totally, swiftkey is awesome however not free, gingerbread is good.. If swiftkey were free I would go with it, but its not so swype is it..

I think swype's the best, that's just my two cents
Yeah I think swype is the best too but if you do try it I would back it up with titanium & make sure it's installed on the phone cuz just like someone said earlier with the chronic flashing we do especially with switching roms it will disappear on you & if it's not on the internal memory it will go bye bye when you reboot or unplug your phone via USB ...learned from experience it was a drag -____-

I don't think its a rom issue, its more the way they have you go about installing it.

I like swype tried swiftkey (i found somewhere) it's cool killing the gb keyboard. But swype is where it's at but it runs out ( mental note to self use apk manager to hack swype to stop running out of time) of time.
You know, I just reinstalled swype, and had no troubles with it. They seem to have changes the way the installer functions. I even had issues installing this on stock unrooted Sense.

if you've never used swype your texting on the GB/original rom keyboard will be A LOT faster
BUT
once you get used to swype and gain some experience with it under your belt you'll see that your texting/typing will be A LOT LOT faster than the keyboard
my first week of using swype i saw a noticable difference in speed for the better....but believe me that first few days i was so frustrated with swyping lol
Is it possible to deodex this SWYPE, it's the one containing French Canadian QWERTY keyboard, so I can include it in the ROM I use?
try this and see if it works for you. its CWM flashable.

i wont give up my atrix, unless it was for a galaxy s2 or similar. i love the webtop/laptop and the phone feels faster to me. no lag whatsoever, except the lockscreen. the downside is its locked down tighter than a dolphin's ass, and its not very customizable. but official gingerbread is just around the corner it looks like.
i like it. i dont feel like i need to do anything to it. its rooted, sideload enabled and i can tether. thats all i need. for my flashing addiction i still have a couple of captivates to play with.

Thanks.

thanks gtg465x for putting together a great rom for the infuse. cant wait to see what you do with the thrill.

like i said, i just pulled the swype.apk from the infused 2.1.0 rom and it works great. and i do love the sprint keyboard. the others were crap. in my opinion all keyboards no matter what the input method need 1-0 along the top, not like a messed up numpad.
You might try Touchpal. I didn't like swipe at all. But Touchpal runs like swipe and I love it. It's also a really good non-swipe type keyboard also all with prediction.
Ultra Keyboard will let you use swipe type input. It is my default keyboard.I have not tried Touchpal Keyboard, but it is free and also has swipe input.

I love how HTC used to get so much **** for having a laggy UI with Sense. I was one of those who kind of hated on Sense and really dissed it. Now I have noticed TouchWiz has become the Sense of old. Bulky, laggy, and way too big for its own good. Kind of funny how the two companies have done a reversal. I used to purchase Samsung devices just to avoid the lag of Sense and other UIs. Every video review I have watched, the reviewer has complained of lag on the S4. For once I will actually stay with an HTC device until my next contract renewal. I feel it was done right. One thing that isnt fair though is that nobody seems to be giving Samsung the hard time HTC got about their overbloated UI overlay. What gives?
Oh, and the classic "The reviewer or people posting negative reviews and comments about the GS4 are paid by HTC" wtf, really? If someone doesnt like Samsung products they are assumed to be crazy and must be getting "paid off" to post negative comments? That's really unfair and childish of them to say. Anyone else noticing unfair biases?

I noticed that as well. Sense 5 is smooth, man. I haven't had any lag, outside of me messing with governors and such, and I've read several reviews that say Touchwiz is kindof laggy. People aren't going to give Sammy any **** though because they are the top dog. While I'm glad they are android (for now) they are in the position that Apple was not long ago...nothing they can do is wrong even if it is. It's a little annoying
I actually really like sense 5

My phone is bone stock, and will more than likely stay that way.
the only thing that seems odd to me in Sense 5 has been the lock screen..It kind of looks like its not meant for the current state it is in..It looks like it's set up and preparing for Android 4.2.1-2..Looks like they are preparing for lock screen widgets and I cant wait!

agreed, the only thing i want in sense is quick toggles! i used them all the time on my GS2. Luckily the mod is already out for this. That and the MMS compression fix. Other than that its pretty impressive out of the box.
But yea when will we start seeing AOSP stuff? I know the phone is only out for a wk or two but I'm looking forward to seeing the development section start to fill up.

I believe there are people working behind the scenes on some AOSP stuff. One problem would be the new SoC Snapdragon 600. I don't think there is a reference device running android on this platform yet.
I'm really diggin sense 5 in general. Blinkfeed is awesome.. I always had a currents widget on my furthest left screen anyways.
One thing I dislike. Is that the app drawer still scrolls gingerbread style. I'd like it to be paginated.
And as for quick toggles like i've seen in a few posts. We don't want quick toggles! we just want the 4.2 update. Then it should be pull down on left 3/4 for notifications. Or the right 1/4 for the toggles that are just built into android now. The quick toggles of the past are pretty ugly in comparison.

I guess by paginated you mean horizontal scroll instead of vertical. I too find this odd as Sense 4.0, 4.1, and 4+ all had horizontal app drawers.
I also like this, but what I have done is make folders and put the apps in there so I only have one page.

The folders in the app drawer has been something I really like that I wouldn't have thought I would. Now I am down to 3 homepages instead of 5 or 7. Would be nice if they could hold more apps per folder but it still makes my app drawer so nicely organized.

I believe the only way to get rid of blinkfeed at the moment is to use a different launcher. If you use sense your stuck with it. You can make it so it's not your homepage though.

Thanks for the reply man. I did move it all the way to the right just to get it out of my way lol. But with only 5 screens (im use to 7) its kind of a waste of space. Theres other stuff i could use that screen for. If i knew where it was located maybe i could decompile, remove and recompile. Thanks for the response man,

Have you gone into the settings and enabled other sources? I hated Blinkfeed until I realized you could get stuff from all sorts of things like mags, websites, sports, news, etc.
But yeah, third party launcher is the only way to "disable" it.

I'd echo the note of using a different launcher. If you are particularly fond of the Sense launcher though, you can always add more home screens and change the default homescreen to point elsewhere (say, screen #3 or so). Blinkfeed will always be on screen #1, but you can ignore it this way.
Of course, many alternative launchers won't work with Sense's widgets, so be sure you're aware of that before you make the jump to any particular one! I do believe I saw that there was some work on hiding blinkfeed, though; unfortunately, it doesn't seem like it's a simple fix.

Yeah, its literally embedded into the launcher...its hard coded in.
Have you tried setting it up for your interest? I thought it would be annoying at first and was very annoying for the first couple days and almost installed a different launcher. Till one day I started messing around with it and now I use it daily. It's nice to be caught up on what's going on with technology and science without having to search the web for the highlights. Saves a lot of time.
I get this question a lot working at sprint. Customers come in all the time asking how to get rid of it. Instead of showing them different launchers I show them how to set it up and they all walk out happy without wanting a different launcher.
This is something new and very exciting for smartphone owners. But I do agree it would be nice to at least have the option to remove it for the people that buy a smartphone and only want to make calls with it.

Google+ and Flipboard are far superior tools if you're looking to keep up to date, but for casual reading it's pretty hard to argue with something that's built in.
