Root W/O computer Help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

Is rooting Samsung-sm-G900A without a computer possible?
If yes, can you help me with a tutorial on how?
Thanks

Lol, it can't even be done with a computer
But seriously your best chance is if you are still on Kitkat or one of the early builds of lollipop (<5.11)

Help, please!!

My friend asked me to root his samsung captivate for him. He doesn't have a sim card in it and it is running 2.2 froyo. I have tons on experience rooting and ROMing my Droid x2 from Verizon and my Acer tablet but I don't know where to begin on this phone. I read the stickys and I've been researching for the past week and all I have is the right drivers, lol. My friend needs it tommorow, and he already gave me some money to do it for him. If any one, any one at all could help me on how to root it (prefferebly not through adb) or if you can do it without hooking it up to the computer, I would be eternally greatful! I can definately use a computer if neccesary I just prefer not to do so. All I need to do is get the phone rooted and get a recovery on there. Somebody please help! Thanks guys!!!

if you have a captivate 2.2 then you will need a computer it is compulsory
download superoneclick and connect the phone after enabling debugging
if soc detect the phone click on root wait for soc to complete and you will get your mobile rooted
hey, I just rooted and custom rom'ed today from stock 2.2; and, let me tell you, the rooting was the simple part! Just download superoneclick and click the root button! After that you can install cwm5 via Rom manager from the market. If you get stuck with the Samsung recovery because it is version 3e, then post here and I'll tell you what I did to get past it....

My USB broke while flashing back to stock, now I can't root
It isn't possible to root without having a connection to the computer.

Unfortunately you need a computer to unlock the bootloader. So rooting this firmware without a computer is not possible. However, if you can get to a computer to a downgrade to a lower firmware, it can be possible with z4

[Q] Is it possible to root via SD card?

Hello
My DS7 has a broken port (that plastic line right at the center of the port is chipped). It charges only if I insert the connector a bit crooked... but the device its not recognized by any computer. I've spent hours trying to do it with no luck.
I would like to root it and test some other roms. Is it going to be possible without being able to connect it to a computer? An SD method maybe?
Please help! I did search before posting this... couldn't find an answer.
Thanks!
Do you already have CWM installed? That basically answers your question.

It would be helpful if you tell us what Android version you are on.

Like TheManii said, if you already have CWM installed you should be in business, but the fact that you can't use the port for flashing is going to be hinderance if you ever need to NVFlash or adb anything. So I recommend to be VERY careful and do nothing without much thought
It's much, much worse to have a broken port on the S7 compared to the S5. As you can remove the S5's batt and charge externally.
Consider yourself lucky you can charge at all, otherwise it's already a dead device/motherboard.

Thanls fpr your answers, I am running the latest official Honeycomb and unfortunately I don't have CWM installed...
Why not SDCard?
My other Android device.. the only way to root it was via the SDCard.. so I don't understand why a SDCard option is not available to the Streak-7.

Because ....duh....they are different devices?
so I guess there is nothing I can do right?
Pretty much all the stuff needed needs to be done via the cable. Now if you have 2.2 installed you can install Gingerbreak apk that will root it. Other than that, its sucks.
Well, some time has passed since I started this thread. I was wondering if maybe there could be a new solution for my problem?

Maybe you can install a wireless adb app and push the files to the system that come in the Superuser7.zip

First allow me to ask you this... do you know what root is, do you have any knowledge of adb commands, do you have the Android SDK and/or the Dell drivers on your computer and lastly do you understand the layout of the file system?
I can easily just type out the commands but I want you to understand the process
BUT I'm not sure this works... since you aren't rooted already I don't know if you can push files to the system folders

If you're on 2.2 froyo try using gingerbreak. Just do a quick Google search for it, and it will give you the XDA forum link for it.

Thanks for trying, there was an app for gingerbread called gingerbreak, dunno about ics though, on other phones its been done by flashing a pre rooted stock rom or by running a terminal script, im sure there is a way to bring the exploit to our phones but unfortunately i dont have the skill, if only i could afford tethering i would blow the dust off the laptop and root it straight away!
Solved, I downloaded the pc files and pushed them to the old laptop through usb, followed normal instructions and viola! Root! Now i just need the roms to develop a bit more

Took the latest OTA. How can I downgrade and install TWRP and CFW?

The title explains it all. I got this phone knowing I could root and install CFW, but wanted to just "use" it for a few days in stock. I don't mind stock, I would jsut prefer a custom firmware. I'm having trouble figuring out what I need to do to downgrade to Lollipop so I can flash TWRP and begin using CFW. A simple set of instructions would be very appreciated. Thanks to anyone who can help!

There appear to be guides here for doing those things with 6.0 installed, such as MicroMod777's guides.
After a few more hours of digging, I figured it out. I may draw up a cleanly laid out guide referencing the posts that helped me for people in the position I was.
Thank you!
No, you don't need to downgrade, just go ahead and install TWRP & CFW.
Careful with downgrading, becuz H811 has Q-Fuse enabled, if you mess up you'll end up with a 9008 hard brick
im having a similar issue im trying to root/unlock 20p and its not finding any device in fastboot it just sits there saying locating any device and never locates anything adb see's the phone just fine anyone know anything about that? thanks for the help in advance
Rooting stock G4H811 already on 20p?

Yea, I'm trying to root my new updated G4 that's on 20p. I have one that's soft bricked already that I'm trying to fix and don't wish to brick another.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Im in the same boat. No devices found after fastboot. Any advice?
