Is there any alternatives to the on screen buttons available? - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was just thinking today it would be really cool if the on screen buttons were removed and replaced with swipe up gestures from the bottom of the screen. Is there anything that does this or something similar?

Swype Navigation in the play store. Requires root.

My favorite nav bar alternative is pie. Lots of different setting. I swipe from the right and get a pie shaped nav bar there.

That's the free version. There is a paid one as well.

Sounds just like regular Immersive mode. A lot of custom ROMS include this.

There is also the Fling interface one. might be like swype navigation, not sure.

For me too, the very best you can choose between swipe gestures, pie, invisible swipe gestures, or all at the same time !!!
Here is the link for OP : LMT Launcher

Hidden soft buttons!!

I saw once an app/mod that hides the soft buttons and you can get access to them by swiping your finger from the bottom of the screen upwards, much like the quick controls on Android browser, it seems very cool, any way to get it working on our XZ?? :fingers-crossed:

- If you, like me, get annoyed by the soft-buttons at the bottom of the page staying there far too much, there is a way to get rid of them. Download and install Button Saviour, then grab the FullScreenToggle apk from this thread, and Bob’s your slightly-better-endowed-with-screen-real-estate uncle.

Exactly, fullscreen toggle + buttonsavior. I even concealed status bar and get instead some battery widget and phone signal widget etc. Absolutely full screen lol. I use RomAur 1.3.2.
I use the LMT with the fullscreen apk, so that you can get the PIE controls! When I swipe up from the bottom, I get all the controls I need, and it's very intuitive! More screen real estate! :good:
Great share, thanks guys!
Just using the fullscreen app and it works great, playing ScummVM is so much better now.
Kind regards, Stefan.

Improving single hand operation - No root

Hello guys,
Does anyone know of application which improve single hand operation of the device's large screen?
I have install Lazy Swipe and looking for more. I'm thinking of install Dolphin browser as well because it has activation from the corner which can help with the single hand operation.
Planning to get more gesture control operation on the device too.
One of the thing which is bothering me is the notification bar. I'm surprised Sony didn't include any brightness control on the notification drop down bar nor there is a control for volume.
I don't like using the hardware key as they can get ruined + the casing aint great.

Not really sure how to help you but you can try using Nova launcher coupled with gestures to launch all the application you need.
I have a small hand but I think one hand use is not that tough though.

Is there any way to replace the menu button with a statusbar drop down button? Something like the LG one.
I can lock the screen using shortcuts with the home button, but pulling down the status bar is really hard for my small hands.

You can use launchers which support gesture to do it. But note, it's not global, only occurs when using the launcher.

Is it possible to get FNG and Nova Launcher working correctly without root?

I'm coming from an S20 on Android 10 where I was using FNG to hide the navbar and had a 3-button setup with swiping from the bottom. Now on the Pixel default nav gestures it seems I can't do this anymore. I can only swipe to go home. It's disappointing. And I seems that in Android 11 they made it even more difficult (impossible?) for 3rd party apps to hide the nav bar.
Also, Nova Launcher doesn't seem to work well with gesture nav enabled. It's mostly fine, except for when I swipe up to go home there is a significant delay until I can interact with my home screen. When I press home I'm brought to a blank home screen, then my icons/widgets populate, and then I have to wait another moment for it to actually be interactable. If I touch the home screen before this the screen just flashes and does nothing.
What's up with this? I realize these are little things but they totally bring me out of the snappy and fast experience I've otherwise had with this phone. The thing I've always loved most about Android is it's customizability and Google seems to be taking that away more and more with each update. It's very disappointing.
As far as I know, you can't get rid of the navbar without root. FNG works with root though you have to get rid of the navbar yourself.

Not having that slowness issue with gestures on Nova on either my first nor replacement Pixel 5 - swiping up to go home is snappy, definitely not waiting for icons and widgets to populate.
I think you may have a unique issue as I've seen a couple posts talk about using Nova with the Pixel 5 and never any mention of such a terrible issue.

Question Swipe navigation in Funtouch os?

I wanted use navigation swipe gesture like oneplus and google pixel phone, but vivo provide only 2 gesture
1. Swipe up to home screen, and swipe up and hold to open recent apps
2. Swipe left side or right side of the phone to go back.
Can you elaborate what do you mean by navigation swipe gesture? Because the 2 options you mentioned use swipe gestures themselves.

I was using OP7P before this and I am not really sure what you mean by that. I had slide from the bottom to go home or open recent apps.
Slide from bottom left or right to go back.
Vivo has slide from the bottom and swipe from left or right to go back which are the Android 11 gestures.

Yes. Swiping back and forth on ‘navigation bar’ in the bottom doesn’t switch apps. Swiping from edge of screen goes back to previous screen alright. Using VIVO X60

How to Force Android 10's Gestures to Work with Any Custom Launcher
One vital part of Android 10's new navigation system is the "QuickStep" gesture. Swipe up from the bottom of your screen, then pause. You'll see your recent apps along with a dock containing a handful of icons for quick access. This dock is provided by the phone's launcher, which means your home...

That isn't the case here, in my Vivo X60 the only available (and correctly set) values are:
Bash:

[ ] com.android.internal.systemui.navbar.gestural_extra_wide_back

You have to enable that function in the settings for navigation. It's disabled out-of-box for some reason.
I am talking about this feature. it is now available in vivo x70 series
With origin os it worked for me. In funtouch os it doesn't work. I just want to switch between apps when I swipe in the bottom bar

Question Help, navigation bar and font fix

Well in recent new update in redmi note 10 Pro Max. They made the navigation bar bigger than before and it is taking more space than before so I want to make the navigation bar smaller is there anyway if there is please tell me. Also another problem is the font before update every every word in my phone would be displayed as applied font but now in Chrome or Gmail the font is displayed as default font.
Gesture navigation is so much better, make yourself use it for a week to get used to it and you'll never go back to buttons.

I know it's good but I could use the buttons for you know like shortcuts like if I hold the recent button it would take a screenshot or if I hold down the back button it would stop the app forcefully so in that way I prefer buttons but I have used this navigation gesture for a week and it is good I guess but I would still prefer button, well it's my personal opinion I don't want to force my opinions on to anyone.
