Overall speed - Moto Z Force Real Life Review

Would you say that the Moto Z Force is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Moto Z Force exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Thing is wicked fast. Haven't been able to slow it down yet. Purposely left 20+ apps open in background and thing just keeps on chugging away flawlessly when fast-swapping between them.

Running an n64 emulator in the background while playing a psx emulator...no lag, I am very impressed with the speed

Absolutely the fastest device I've owned. It feels better than the 6p.

Very fast and very fluid!

First Android I've ever owned that didn't ever feel laggy. I haven't been able to bog it yet. It's awesome. And the fingerprint reader is miraculously fast. I didn't think I would care about it before I had the phone. Love it now.
Maybe this is par for the current generation, I haven't used any other 2016 phones, but this is quite honestly the first phone I have ever owned that feels finally there from a performance standpoint.

Fast, smooth, responsive.

Fastest phone I have ever used. Came from a nexus 6p and s7 edge. Used a note 7 a little at a store and it felt like crap after using this phone. Hands down the best Android phone to date.

Phone is super fast. I had an HTC 10 for a few days. Returned it as the Moto Z feels much faster in normal use. Fingerprint reader is also much better than the one on the HTC. Being able to turn screen off with it is really convenient. Came from an unlocked Turbo running CFs ROM, very surprised how much faster the Moto Z is. On Antutu Turbo was at 86k, Moto Z is 151k. Battery life is also better on the Moto Z.

Interesting that you say that. I came from a Nexus 6p, and think my Z Force is noticeably faster than my 6p was!
While I'm sure the lack of updates from Lenovo will eventually piss me off and make me switch phones earlier than necessary, for now I'm super happy.

Lenovo did us right on the phone. And they did us right on the mods. And Lenovo dies have good support for the PC part so I'm hoping they won't drop the ball on updates. Microsoft under Google's leadership did drop the ball really hard and I expected so much more. I hope Lenovo gets updates right. They knocked it out of the park on the z for the hardware. Let's see how there software development is.

Nothing beats it. I played minecraft today, hosting over wifi using an 8bitdo nes30 pro controller over bluetooth with all settings maxed and not once was there any lag. Puts a dent in the battery but for the performance I didnt mind.

Battery stats I forgot to include

Coming from a Nexus 6 which in on now while the Z charges. Running Nougat on the 6 and I can say that the Z is just as smooth maybe smoother.
Nougat is gonna take the Z to another level in both speed and overall performance!
I don't miss root at all on the Z; even if it gets root I won't take the plunge there's simply no since in doing so

As fast as any phone I have used. On par with the Note 7 and faster than my LG G5.

Just got this Moto Z Force Droid on Monday (VZW Buy 1 Get 1) and I am very impressed with it! Battery life has gotten me all day moderate usage and the turbo charge is ridiculously fast (without heating up I might add). I have experienced a great/fast UI which is a tad different than Samsung which I was used too...and not laggy!

By far the fastest phone I've used, the UI is extremely fluid. Sometimes it hangs when opening apps but this is rare and I think it may just be the apps themselves not being optimized for N. I haven't done any multitasking tests yet but it keeps apps that aren't even open (Play Store, YouTube) in RAM even when I don't technically have them running.

I wish I could say the same but root is almost essential for me lol. Hopefully unlock codes come out soon because I'd love to get Xposed and V4A on here.

This phone is easily the fastest I've used. No stutters or hangs. Motorola hit it out of the park with this one.

Not much to say, other than it's fast!

Is this phone still worth it ? I'm coming from a s6edge plus

Confessions from a Nexus 5/former Galaxy Nexus User

When I got my Galaxy Nexus (GN) it was sheer happiness. I was using a legacy Nokia Symbian candy bar and this was my first foray into unmolested Android. While all was not perfect with the GN, I was still mostly pleased. Then the fateful day occurred when I dropped the GN a little too hard and the screen shattered even though the phone was protected by a Diztronic TPU case. I now needed a new phone, but I knew the Nexus 5 (N5) would be out soon, so I kept using my shattered GN until the N5 was available and when it arrived, I realized cracking my screen was a blessing in disguise.
Without further ado, my quick major comparisons to the GN:
The N5 is FAST. REALLY FAST. It makes my GN feel like an unfinished prototype/research model that should have never been brought to market.
The N5’s GPS locks on quickly. REALLY quickly. My GN could take a minute or more at times to get a lock and, by then, my wife, annoyed, would whip out her iPhone and tell me my phone sucks.
The N5 has “awesome battery life.” While its battery life is average in general, compared to the GN it is legendary. The GN’s screen and data connection would kill the battery and it would rarely last till the afternoon if I frequently used both. With the N5 I can make heavy use of my screen and data connection and my battery will likely last the day.
Qi support. This makes number 3 above even better and there’s no jamming of Micro-USB ports into the phone and hoping I didn’t have the port upside-down (particularly when it’s dark/at night). When I’m at my desk, my phone is always charging. When a call comes in, I simple pick up the phone and then put it back down to charge when I’m done—nothing to plug in/I’m untethered. When I leave my desk for an hour or three, I have no fear of using or pushing the phone as hard as I’d like as I know I’m probably fully charged, because the phone was sitting on the charger, and I’ll have more than enough battery life for whatever I might encounter. Qi is simply elegant and something the iPhone can’t do.
LTE. While I got decent “4G” speeds on the GN—around 8Mbps down—the 20+/30+Mbps I get now alongside far better PING times is a great improvement.
The N5 has almost zero lag. It’s really that fast. My GN was almost all lag. Project Butter improved things, but the GN still has lag all over the place. I’m sure the N5 will start to slow down as newer software makes greater demands of the hardware, but, for now, this thing flies.
If you’re still using a GN, stop. It sucks, particularly when compared to a modem smart phone. Get the N5 and stop having your wife/girlfriend tell you your phone sucks, because it does.
Cheers.
lol, i loved my galaxy nexus! it demolished my nexus s i speed. but when i got my nexus 4, it just blew away the gnex in speed and performance. but then i got the nexus 5.. it makes the nexus 4 feel like a childs toy
Amen to all that.
But to be fair, the GNex was pretty good for its time--it was roughly in the same class as its contemporary, the Galaxy S II (just as the N5 is with the LG G2). But of course the N5 is so much faster and smoother and an all round better smartphone. A few things that I still feel the GNex is better though--it feels more comfortable holding the GNex than the N5 because the GNex is more rounded while the N5 has sharper edges. I still prefer the audio jack placement on the GNex. And I miss slightly the removable battery--my GNex had the official extended battery. But these are small issues compared to the vast improvements that the N5 brings.
I also agree with all of this. I came from a Galaxy Nexus as well, and I loved that phone. Even now, it was "fast enough" and the battery lasted "long enough" and it was a solid working device. I had a Nexus One before that, so I was starting a pattern of skipping every other Nexus phone, so it was time to buy the Nexus 5.
My experience exactly matches every one of your points. Battery life and overall speed are by far the biggest differences I've noticed. I'm as happy with this phone as I was when I upgraded to the GNex two years ago.
I actually was very happy with my gnex, i did end up getting the nexus 5 and very happy i did, cant go wrong with stock android kit kat
Better than my nexus 4
Having never owned the gnex, or its predecessors, the N4 was my first Nexus device. That being said I was shocked at how much better the N5 is. particularly in signal strength. on H+ there wasn't a single place in Toledo that I could get above 95 dbm. and my house was regularly 117Dbm or lower. Now (after flashing back to the xxx.xxx.17 modem) I see about 100dbm in my house on LTE and consistently around 80 on H+!!! The .23 modem that came with 4.4.1 KILLED MY SIGNAL!
I really think Lg/ Google skimped with the hardware on the N4. Yea the processor was great for the time and the phone will hold its own for another couple of years.
But after about a week of enjoying that flashy glass back i was too paranoid about walking around with a piece of fine china to enjoy my device. I always thought the back was more suited for a girl anyway, besides the fact that after armoring your phone in a rugged case to protect the stupid glass back, you couldn't see it anyway.
All in all the N5 is a joy. People complaining about the speaker must not have had a nexus 4. And who cares about "loose" buttons the ceramic tactile feel of them makes up for it.

I second this post. I was EXTREMELY proud of my nexus 4...until I got the nexus 5...the size difference and battery life make the nexus 4 feel like a toy. Very well put Simms.
Agreed on all counts. The galnex spec sheet was outdated within four months. I'm just glad I rode my vzw contract out and gave them the bird for t-mobile (pre-paid) and the nexus5.
good day.
Having owned pretty much every Nexus device since the GNex ( GNex, N4, N5 and N7) the N5 simply blows them all away, and I really loved the N4.

The GNEX was garbage even when it was current!
The N5 is a rocking piece of kit.

Well... I have both phones and can agree with most of this, but how about this "awesome battery life" and LTE?
It is really not bad... except when LTE mode is activated and LTE network is found. It looks like battery drain on LTE is almost the same in active use and in sleep - and phone is warm all the time. Almost like some kind of hand warmer - handy at winter.
Better Battery stats and everything else confirms, that phone is in deep sleep, but battery graph falls with same speed in active use and deep sleep state - and this is on almost "bearable" LTE signal (-80...-90 dBm). Drain stops immediately, when mobile network mode is switched to 3G.
Will try out other network when I go to christmas vacation. Maybe this is some kind of network issue.

Switch from GNex - N5 -- insanely estatic and sheer satisfaction -- blazing speeds, HD screen
I have the Galaxy Nexus and to be quite honest with you I still use the sh*t out of it. I found it to be a great device. I wonder when Samsung gets the Nexus contract again what they will have in store for us.
I have a soft spot for it since it was my first Nexus and it had a good amount of storage space 32gb. Since I have tabs and phones I use them all for different things. I use my Nexus 7 for gaming, my Galaxy Nexus for audiobooks and multimedia, and my Nexus 5 for everything else. Overall I love my Nexus 5 and Galaxy Nexus..heck I'm downloading a ROM for them now!
Cheers

I also had a GN but I was always annoyed by it's overall slowness. For me there was only minor improvement compared to my former Nexus One.
After just half of a year later I got my N4 and was much happier with it, than with Gslug Nexus.
The N5 is even better than the N4, but compared to the Change from GN to N4 the change is not that dramatic. The only advantages of the GN were its look and feel (which is in my opinion the best out there) and its robustness.
The only disadvantage right now is, that there are only a few usable and very limited Custom Roms for the N5 because of KitKat but this is only a temporary problem.

To be honest, none of the custom roms are impressive or better than stock on a Nexus device. There are many custom roms but that's only cause it's way easier to develop for a Nexus device than it is for non stock Android devices. And unfortunately most of the roms are identical with very minor variances as well as being pure garbage.
The roms that add features are worth looking at but so far non are as stable as stock.
I used to own 2x GNEX at the same time. One flashed with every top custom rom available and the other pure stock. As nice as some of the added features the custom roms had and as fast as the custom kernels seemed to be, the roms weren't stable and the kernels started bogging down in a few days.
The stock phone never slowed down and performed consistently till the end.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that on a Nexus, stock is best cause it's built by the best developers already....
I've used custom roms on all my other Android phones but will not be on my N5 based on my custom rom experience on the GNEX!

Spoiled by the N5's speed

Every phone I pick up and play with is much slower (ie completing a simple task such as turning on, unlocking, sending an SMS, go back home then turn off) than my N5 I've had since launch day. Rooted, stock ROM and kernel, with xposed gravity.
We have a lot of different phones in my family and are on both VZW and TMO networks. 4 iPhone's (4, 4s, and 2 5s's), GS3, 4 GS4's, MotoX, and a BB.
I've also played with friends G2, M7, M8, and RAZR Maxx. There is nothing as snappy as the N5 on KK to date. Not even close imo. Anyone else feel this way when they pick up another mobile device?
Nexus5
Its the fastest device right now for sure.

Yeah came from the SII I9100 and android never looked the same :3
Jumped from
Dual core 1.2 GHz --> Quad core 2.3 GHz
1GB RAM --> 2GB RAM
4.3 Inch screen --> 5 Inch screen
The next time I change my phone its either a Nexus or im jumping ship
I have a iPhone 5S, HTC One (old) and an HTC Desire-some****. All of them feel slower than my Nexus 5.
Even iPhone 5S. It isn't slow. It's extremely snappy. The speed is comparable to the Nexus 5 but it doesn't feel faster (maybe due to animations, I guess).
Nexus 5 is pretty great. Between 100% to 60% batter charge, the phone is blazing fast. Then it drops in performance to save battery, I think. But not by much.
I'd class the Nexus 5 as the smoothest for sure, fastest? I'm not so sure, my m8 is one snappy beast, but it's not as smooth IMO,
Probably due to the difference in transitions

Yeah, its definitely one snappy phone. I found it about on par with a GPE HTC One, which isn't as bloated as the standard Sense HTC One.
The iPhone 5S feels "slower", but that could just be all of the silly transitions that Apple added in.
I have a GS3 and replaced it with N5. When i use the GS3 from time to time, it feels sooooooo slow....
Anyway my girlfriend's GS4 on KK feels a lot faster than GS3 but a whole lot slower than N5.

I was actually on the fence about sticking to samsung since I had an s2 and loved it. I will never look back again lol, Nexus is the way forward for me. Fast and smooth. :
S4 to N5. wonder why I get a S4 before
iphone 5s with its A7 "cyclone" chip should be the fastest, although it's running a different os so there's no fair comparison. i'd love love love to have an android phone on apple's soc, although with more RAM perhaps.

The transitions are all optical illusions so people can call it a fast phone. Good thing they added an option to reduce motion. Without those transitions you can immediately notice that those devices are dual core.
I've had a chance to try an LG G2 and though it has a similar chip, it does not feel smooth like the nexus 5. It stutters everywhere. However, the time it takes to open and close apps are about the same; but still, something feels wrong.
I agree, had the note 2 which I loved for the size and the spent. I even swore no phone without spen. After using the nexus 5 sold the N2 and never looked back. The note 2 was so slow compared to the N5.
Although I am really interested in the HTC M8. With SD card I can finally put all my music on the SD card plus with there being a Google play edition I don't suppose updates will be an issue. Even if I buy the T-Mobile version I can still install latest update if sense lags.

However, smoothness comes from animation, not immediately jolting you from one static app to another (which is rather jarring from a user experience point of view). In that regard, when it comes to making a pleasant operating system, Apple has it right. Of course, on my Nexus 5, I just bump up the animations to either 1.5x or 2x and I love it.
It's nice to have a smooth animation between screens because by the time the animation has finished, the app is fully loaded and ready to go. That makes Android feel a lot more polished to me (especially since Android's multitasking is still so unpredictable in terms of whether or not that app you just left will still be in the same state when you resume; often times, it needs to refresh itself before I can start tapping away).
Put simply, I don't care if animations are "tricking" me into thinking my phone' OS is smooth. The effect it has on the user experience makes those animations worth using.

Is note 5 for me if im iPhone user? I only like smoother ui..should I buy?

I'm interested to buy note 5, but as a long time iPhone user, I only like to use smooth interface, I just hate lag,
Is Android is still laggy? Is Android phone like note 5 software runs on stable 60 fps?
Please guide me,
Also I apologize if I posted in wrong section..
Thanks in advance
I've been iPhone user since the original one and had every single phone they made. I have been using S6 edge for 3 months and now Note 5 and I will never look back to iPhone. thanks for great help,
i hope when i buy it would be always smooth,
i care about resale value alot, theres alot phone release every four months,
i cant go to motorola or any nexus, because when i will buy, if i didnt liked it, the value of sale i will get less than half,
in india there is best resale value is of iphone, i just sold iphone 6, bought for 50k 7 months ago, sold it for 40, i used s5 too(s5 launched on 50k after months price became 40k lol, i bought for 50k i sold it for 18k lol thats really bad)
note 5 just launched in india for 54 and guess what price is now 50 51 xD
anwyays thats not much issue, the device should good, as people loving these phones,
i hope the phone will perform good, i just love iphone, im a office guy, mostly kids love to personalise things or changing themes, but mature people like me(im 25) i just need phone should work as like as cost,)
i had s5, it always lags 90 percent, may be thats because of old platform, when i was using lolipop hadnt released for this phone,
in iphone what i like is every single app is optimized, scrolls smooth, opens smooth, the animation 99% stable 60 fps, and in samsung i played 60 fps, thats wasnt sycned properly, i think the refresh rate of android phones are too less, what i experienced is when i play 24 fps video on iphone it looks smooth i mean it runs like we are running 60 fps, but even we run 30 fps on android it looks laggy,
im just sharing my experience thats why i asked question before buying, im not trying to harm or anything.
i will try note 5 too, i hope it would run good, i saw show piece on samsung store of s6, it was looking smooth, thats created my hope in android..
anyways, please share more your experience what you liked what you didnt, is there any big Hardware fault i should look into device before buying? (asking because if i caught issue i will get replace at the same time of buying)
thanks alot again,.

If ultimate smoothness is a must, this phone is not for you. There are smoother phones out there, typically those running stock or close to stock android.
Mine runs pretty damn smooth. I dont know about anyone elses. I have used plenty of iphones before. Trust me they dont run flawless, no phone does. As far as smoothness compared to iphone u shouldnt be dissapointed.
Even my nexus 6 had hiccups now and then and thats pure android at its finest.
60% for the s6 and note 5 is pretty far off from the truth imo

The note 5 is the fastest Android phone I have used by far. But it is not the smoothest, at least not without some work that involves rooting and such. Scrolling is choppy in long graphically intensive lists and there are frame drops in animations here and there. Nexus 6 and one plus one were smoother. But note 5 is FAST - opening apps, switching apps, it just flies.

<3 Awesome
I'm all about it. It's by far the best phone I've had and super fun to tinker with.
Definitly not a flagship but not bad for a mid range. I rate it up there with my former nexus 5x. Just wish there was roms to flash.
Well I have the moto g4 for few days now and its a brilliant phone
Great phone @ great price
Great phone, everything you need without all the gadgets you don't need/won't use while not sacrificing modern day performance.
Best feeling 5.5" screened device.
One handed usability is great, shockingly so.

It heats up turbo charging. Else i give it 9/10.
Heats up a bit in games, though this is due to me purchasing the 2GB RAM option, but other than that, it's awesome!
Great budget package with decent camera.. no lags... Great front facing speakers... A bit of overheating issues...
I can't believe I got all this for so little money. Previous phones: original galaxy note, LG g2, Xperia z3, LG g4. Considered a galaxy s7 edge now and am more than happy with my decision to go for the moto g4 plus.
This week I've gifted this cellphone to my mom, a great upgrade from her old Lenovo A606. She's very happy with it, and me too, it's an awesome phone! Good aesthetics/design, good software, good everything.
Also two friends / colleagues have the same phone, both happy.
As always Motorola giving the best at the best prices.
Bought on May 27th ,2016....Still I love my Moto G4 plus...Normally I don't use any phone more than 6 months..I used Nokia 3510 for almost 3 years and Htc desire X for one year in 2013. But still I love my Moto G4 plus and using..
I wanted to sell this phone in March..But I cannot sell because my mind didn't allow to do so..
Moto G4 16gb 2gb ram + Lineage OS 14.1
For an easy phone that is great on the wallet and still has decent performance, this is a killer device.
Performance is pretty great in my opinion, to save battery I am using the Elemental X kernel and have my CPU undervolted and the big cores max clock at about 1300mhz, truth be told I do not need much power in my phone because I really just use my phone for communication, videos, and audio. I don't really play games on my phone aside from classic Pokemon.
RAM in the G4 16gb is a little limited, as 2gb of ram I do start to notice some sluggish performance if I leave too many apps open. I don't use a whole lot of apps at once, so this doesn't bother me and I can just as easily close the apps out.
Camera is pretty decent, takes decent shots and videos. That's all I ask for.
Battery does get hot quick, have not found anything that can fix this but it's not an issue.
The lack of NFC I was not aware of until after I bought the phone. I was kind of disappointed by that, but really even when I had a phone with NFC, I did not really use it as much as I thought I did. But for buying the phone for under $100, cannot complain about a missing feature I might use once in a blue moon.
Overall this phone is a nice phone to get your hands wet in Android development. Easy to unlock, it is not locked to any carrier, supports all the major LTE Bands, great display, overall a very good experience with the phone.
If you do use a lot of apps I do recommend getting a 32gb version at least. I do not use a lot of apps, but the 16gb ROM is used by everything. System, boot, data, apps, it uses it. Thankfully for pictures and some apps that support it(unless you root it) you do have the ability to add an SD card to the device.
I would get another Moto phone in the future.

Multitasking/RAM

You're busy and don't have time to wait, which is why you need to stop reading this thread and get back to organizing your Pogs. Rate this thread to express how the BLU R1 HD performs when multitasking. A higher rating indicates that the BLU R1 HD keeps many apps in memory so that they don't need to reload, and that when moving between apps, transitions are smooth and performance is excellent.

Multitasks better than you'd expect on the 2GB version
So far so good, it handles the everday use apps, facebook, messenger, etc... I don't generally run many apps at once but its been pretty snappy so far....
Nice

Yep.. Very snappy. Lol. Could even be better than my nexus 6p

When did android start preserving the running apps across reboots? Is that new with marshmallow? Or are they not running after reboot but just loaded? They seem to be usable immediately after being switched to most of the time.
Any of you have used a high end phone before? I have currently a broken/almost dead xperia z3 compact, but ive tried switching to other blu phones (dash x2), and samsungs on a budget but they felt painfully slow, so ive been using my broken z3 compact instead.
Thanks

I have owned several flagship phones in the past, as well as a few generic hold over phones, I purchased a BLU phone once for my son, who had broken the screen on his iPhone, and I didn't have the $ to shell out, needless to say the BLU phone got returned the next day, boy was it underpowered!! But I took a chance on this when my fire phone died, and it has not failed to impress me. Is it the greatest no, the photos it takes are sub par(but tolerable), the sound unless tweaked with MTK tools is a little weak, but for the $ it is a snappy little performer. I have no regrets at this point with the purchase.

Yes, I used LG G4 and Galaxy S7. After using the Blu R1 HD for a month, I sold my S7. Yes, it's that good of a performer. 720p + 2GB RAM + stock android = snappy performance !!!
What do you think of the phone with 1gb Ram ?
I think I'll take it with 2gb

They aren't loaded just listed. They load after you click them

This phone is spectacular for the price. I've tried the Moto E 2nd gen, the OG HTC One, and this phone blows both out of the water. Always reliable speed, multitasking works like it should. I never have complaints that my phone is too slow because I always get consistent performance.

I think that it makes no sense to buy the phone with 1 GB when, for $10 more, you get twice the memory AND twice the storage! Rarely have I gotten so much of an upgrade for $10.
