even with null firmware ???
I thought it would work with ANY phones with the custom firmware, even IPhones work with it so why no BlackBerry ones ?
Are you sure about what you say ?

Who ever told you that is lying.
Well ... So will it work ?
I can't see why it would not seeing it's a bluetooth 4.0 low energy device ...
Thanks
Still no real answer ... I've got the box in front of me, so before opening it I'd like to know if it could work or not, seeing that if I open the box, I won't be able to get a refund.
Will it tether internet? Possibly, only if blackberry no longer makes you use the bb network.
Will it sync? Doubtful.

thanks, but i think that BB no longer makes me use the bb network.
and why would'nt it sync ?
if it works with iphones ...
No. Won't work. Am I sure of it? No. Not at all. But this is Samsung. That is BlackBerry.
It's not even apples to oranges. More like rocking chairs to febreeze bottles.
Welcome to the world of ecosystems and compatibility.
I haven't heard of any smart watch that gives decent functionality with BlackBerry. It may be time to upgrade my friend....

where do you get this NULL firmware? im waiting for my gear watch to get here and i have a z30...
want to PM me your PIN we can BBM and figure this out together
acutally you can get internet to work... i have successfully gotten internet to work via bluetooth tethering etc... you need null rom etc,
the only thing i cant figure out is how to get notifications... with os 10.2.1 gear manager works but never connects to the device due to it needing to download addition apks... however when you go to install said apks, they never download and isntall... idk why... but without those additional apks i dont think gear manager will work... i have tried to extract them from an android device aka nexus 4 and no go, no apk extractor sees the apks...i dont know where they are located on the android device to extract them...
oh well... no notifications but i did get internet to work via BT tether on bb10
i have my gear working with my Z10 for phone calls and bluetooth tethering for data also, just no notifications or contact details (when getting a phone calls) anyone have these working yet?

once i rooted the gear and put the null rom on it, i just manually paired the two together through the bluetooth menu. as for the tethering, with the null rom, you have to add the pdanet application through the rom install page. then i installed an android port (just through snap or droid store) called FoxFi which gives it that ability.
Again, its still limited at the moment so any ideas on how to get the notifications working would be appreciated

How to pair the Gear? z10
Hi all, it has been a long time since I was here. Many years ago I used to frequent this forum daily and root every phone I had.
Since I got the Note 3 I stopped rooting and downloading ROMs, etc.
I would like to root my Note 5 so that I can use an app that will help me in using my PS4 controller in emulator apps without the absolutely annoying lag that makes it not worth bothering.
I do not want to have to set my phone up again if I can get away with it, so not doing a factory reset during the process would be awesome. (or a way to back everything up and then restore it exactly as it is).
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get started please, I would greatly appreciate it!
Have a fantastic week!!
Sam
which model number are you using?

I looked over compatibility at Samsung.com, however i also know that the phones listed there are not all the phones able to connect to the watch. Anyone who has tried using it with a Gear S3?
And anyone who can confirm whether this phone will work with Android Pay as well?
Thanks a million,
Can't speak for the s3 watch but my Pebble Time Steel works perfectly with it.
Yes, S3 works perfectly, no issues with Android Pay and I'm rooted.

Where are you using it? What ROM are you using. I have tried the stable ROM that came with it and now a beta ROM 6.11.10. Both have had issues connecting to Samsung app store. And cant get Samsung pay
Has anyone been able to get the samsung app store to work on this phone? I'm able to get my gear s3 working properly but I can't download any new apps or watch faces and thus can't use samsung pay. Gear store seems like an empty shell with no apps populating in it. I'm on 6.11.10 rooted.

Same issue with the S2. The Gear Apps just shows a blank screen. Tried deleting data, reinstalling, factory reset of watch etc with no luck. I am able to log in to my Samsung account and watch works fine otherwise.
This is frustrating as it's stopping me getting the S3. I am on latest EU rom.

I was on EU 6.11.10 and now on 6.12.8. I used Samsung Gear to install Samsung Pay but unable to get Samsung App store to load properly.

Can I ask how you managed to get Android Pay to work?
I'm not rooted but get an error message about the handset not being secure - I get something similar with AmEx Pay (in the UK AmEx have created their own app rather than use Android Pay).
Any insight you can offer would be appreciated.

I didn't do anything special, I'm on EU 6.12.8, rooted and installed Android Pay normally from the Play Store.

If you're rooted, you must have taken additional steps to make it work, regardless of the model of handset you're using - but doubly so with the Mi Mix, which is a handset with no official Google Services support and that throws up errors on un-rooted handsets.

I guess if you want to call it an extra step, I installed the EU rom version for Mi Mix from xiaomi.eu, TWRP rc2, dm-verify and SuperSu.
So, at last, the Mi Mix has a serious problem with the GEAR S3 and the last MIUI.EU.
The GEAR Manager does not open the App Store for downloading Watch Faces and other additional applications. Once you have done the Samsung Login when you enter in the Store appears a white Page.
Any idea to solve this annoying problem?
I'm having the same problem myself still.

The strange thing is that on the Mix after a reset and removing the root the SamsungApp worked for a couple of days and then disappear again.

Is there a solution
Could anybody please try to add more than 1.000 characters to the Contact Notes Field and try to sync in back to Google Contacts?
I still have the Huawei Mate 8, which has that problem since Nougat. The Huawei Mate 9 has similar problem, not sure what Mate 10 will bring. The problem is described in more detail here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-8/help/notes-field-contacts-app-displaying-t3418753
Or here:
https://support.google.com/mail/forum/AAAAK7un8RUYdC16dfv7ss/?hl=en
I'm thinking to switch to Mate 8 (Asia/Exynos Version), LG V30 or Pixel 2 XL, just because of my Contact data getting truncated and lost.
Could anybody please check, if there appears an obvious limit in the notes field within Google Contacts?
Thanks!

Alright, since nobody answered, I found the answer myself by walking into a Samsung store and trying it out.
The result: disappointing! The notes field is restricted to slightly more than 800 characters, even less than the 1000 of most older devices. So I guess, no Note 8 for me the then. Too bad.

I'm confused and wondering why you have 800+ in notes in contacts. Do you make a biography for everyone?

Something like that. I have over 4.000 contacts migrated through different technology/systems over the last 20 years of my life with corresponding updated information and contact notes for most of them. Some with more some with less detail.
But I'm not the problem. Samsung is. Since Google, LG, Asus or other vendors don't restrict/destroy basic features which I learned to rely on since years. And which get truncated with occurring data loss when edited locally on the device and synced back into my Google account.

I believe Google Contacts allows you to restore to a date, so perhaps your person-specfic novels (joking) can be recovered.
True that. But if you restore you would lose all newer changes and additions. And the truncations go back months if not years... So it's not really a practicable solution in this case. And also newer additions are not really a workable option, since you never know for sure when you would hit the character limit... I have that now with my Huawei Mate 8, where the function got crippled with the Nougat update... Unfortunately I figured that out only weeks later... That's why I'm researching a new phone without those restrictions.

Google Contacts was never meant to be a robust contact management system. I have similar history - contacts corrupted or lost to the mists of time, sync issues, 3rd party apps misbehaving (especially LinkedIn at least every other year), tried every 3rd party sync tool for Outlook going back to my Treo 270.
(Sigh)

Hello
Did you find a solution for this problem?
I'm having exactly the same experience with a Honor X...
Thanks a lot for your help
I tried searching for this on the forum and using Google but nothing came up.
I have a Huawei p10 selfie, aparently the model is Bac-L03
It uses emui 5.1 and Android version 7.0.
Any help you can give me? I think i can use magisk but i need a clean boot image first and cant find one.. Any tutorials, clues or help you can give me with this? Thanks a lot!
Isn't BAC the model name for Nova 2? Than you're wrong here in the P10 (VTR and VKY for P10 Plus) forum.
Didnt knew that but my phone is branded as a p10 selfie it says so even on the about phone section on settings.. Do you think its a good idea to ask there just in case?

Did you buy the phone in Mexico?
A quick search gives me, that the Nova 2 is called P10 Selfie in Mexico.
When you compare the phone pictures and specs you can see that they're the same phones.
This is a misrepresentation, that Huawei does not know what to do with himself.
this phone is a huawei nova 2 plus!

Thanks a lot people i guess thats why i couldnt not find any info at all about it, i guess they rebranded the phone for latín america, thanks a whole bunch!
