I will start by being blunt. I HATE this phone.
I have had two OPO's. I bought one when it came out, liked it so much that I bought another for my wife. Sure, it had its quirks, but overall a great phone! I skipped the OP2 as I felt it was an incremental step from the OPO. By the time 3 came out, 1 felt sufficiently dated and was in the market anyway; so I jumped on it. I've had it for one month now, and I can't stand it. The phone is completely stock, haven't even rooted it yet.
The POSITIVES:
LOVE DASH charging! Charges wicked fast.
Battery life is more than sufficient
Camera is significantly improved since OPO. Definitely "good enough" now.
Now the bad:
Feel without a case is AWFUL. I dropped it 5 days after owning it. I don't usually drop phones. I knew by the feel of it that I wasn't comfortable with it on day 2 and promptly ordered a case and tempered glass cover. I dropped it a day or two before it arrived. My own fault, yes, but the phone does not hold well.
No bezel around the screen. I'm by no means overweight, but the skin on my hand where my thumb connects to my hand registers as a touch more often than not. ANNOYING. The case resolved both of the above problems. The phone is at least usable after putting it on.
Calls... I had to get a new Nano SIM as the OPO is a micro. Put it in, and have had nothing but problems. I only receive an estimated 33% of the calls made to me. Outgoing calls take a LONG time to initiate (upwards of 30 secs). Also, sometimes, I cannot use the phone like normal... the person can only hear me if I'm on speaker phone with the SCREEN ON!!!! If the screen times out and turns off, they can't hear me. I am on TMO, and spent hours on the phone with support with multiple different people and they swear it is not on their end. I cannot test the Nano SIM in another phone (none of my others accept it).
Random calls. It randomly calls people sometimes. This seems to have subsided recently, maybe one of the updates?
It recently decided to start randomly rebooting. This was what put me over the edge. I was using navigation out of town heading to the airport, and it decides it wants to reboot. Well, I missed my exit and nearly missed my flight. It has since rebooted itself at least daily. Seems to be mostly when the screen is left on, as it rebooted during a phone call (on speaker with screen on).
Priority / Silent mode: Seems after a recent update, it decides to go on silent for no reason. I have to slide the switch up then back to normal to get it off.
SMS: Occasionally it doesn't register that an SMS was sent and continues to try sending; and the recipient receives sometimes DOZENS of the same message.
This is all I can think of at the moment, but I think there is something else. I cannot say it enough... I HATE this phone. Hello Nexus, here i come.
I thought it felt great without a case.. As for the touchscreen thing, it's happened to me, but only when using it above my face while in bed. The priority thing has been fixed in the last update.
As for the rest, that sounds like a bad board. I can promise you that for the rest of those, people who have a non-faulty board don't experience.

Send it back and request another one. None of the above applies to mine, i can assure you.

Same for me. I've had a camera issue and that silent issue but both are fixed now with update and my personal hardware fix. I think it could be a bit subjective overall. I do have the 6p too and you may indeed like that better as bezels are bigger and phone is just bigger/bulkier. I've never had any if the random call issues.
Completely with you on this. I've had 2 different op3 devices so far and each has been a nightmare. Between the random dropped calls with a full Signal, weak Wi-Fi, and reboots...I'm all set.

yeah i agree, as far as the sim, that is normal between flagship phones, u r looking a 3rd generation of coarse its going to change so they can decrease in size, as far as the calling u may want to do return b/c that has never happened to me, either that try CM13 rom and see if it does it if so change it out if not then u would just need to do a factory reset.

Yes, forgot dropped calls, and bad wifi! What is your course of action? Probably can't get a refund due to cracked screen... ebay as-is?

Nope other than the "feel" without the case. I agree that it's slippery AF. But that's how these aluminum phones are. See HTC 10, iPhone 6/6S
No call issues. SMS is fine for me. Perhaps a carrier issue. I'm in Canada on TELUS on LTE.

I got a SIM adapter and put the NanoSIM into my OPO, and it works fine. Definitely phone issue. Waiting to see if OP will do anything.

Well, they should do something... You got bad luck with the phone but me on the other hand, only have good thing to say about this phone. Great wifi (better than any of my previous phone, no call drops, any issue with sms, used a case since day 1 but agree that it's better put one or it will be slipping. Slider issue was fixed, in one month i have 1 reboot, great reception, but yes, it's not perfect. Try to have a new unit. Will work better for sure.
Coming from a Nexus 5, and have my op3 from 2 weeks now, and i love it. Had The slider bug, but with latest oxygen it has been fixed. Audio is good enough, camera is too. Now i am on latest freedom os and latest elemental x kernel. I am overclocked to 2.2ghz too, but despite that, with The right settings and greenify+xposed combo, battery life is still great. Dash charging works great with elementalx. I advise you to completetly wipe your device, unlock its bootloader and install latest oxygen os full zip file through recovery. If your problems still perxist send your device back, it may be a faulty one...
PS: actually The only "issue" this phone has is the auto brightness one. Its slow and unprecise. So i disabled auto brightness and its ok. You can use an app called Lux, with its auto mode is all ok, so its just a software bug and OP will fix it with future updates i guess.

I feel your pain dude. So I am pretty sure 75% of the devices problems are hardware quality control issues. The first OP3 I received I ordered on US release day. It was buggy as hell, random reboots, laggy, bad call quality, phone got super hot, dropped calls, took a long time to make calls just like you mentioned. I tried to warranty return it and they wanted me to sit through 2 tech support calls, flash stock firmware blah blah their tech support missed one of our scheduled calls it was a mess, I got pissed and cancelled the support ticket and did a refund RMA.
About a week after they credited my account for the purchase price I was reading the forums and couldn't get over how much love this phone was getting. Everyone was gushing over it. So I ordered another one. I am really glad I did. The second phone I got has been flawless. Sounds great, call quality is good, I receive every phone call. zero random reboots, runs really cool, zero overheating.
That won't fix some of your complaints...like zero bezel etc...but I put the sandstone case on it on day one and the only time it comes off is when I am moving the SIM card to another device. Sorry you're having such a bad experience but I think it is just poor quality control at the assembly line. Maybe they are sourcing parts from multiple places so there is a lot of variation in the quality...no idea just glad I got a good one the 2nd time around.

its funny how experience differs from person to person. i had a nexus 6p which had this http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/1...o-noise-cancellation-google-is-investigating/ microphone problem where no one could hear me if i didnt keep the mic right (almost) in my mouth. i got so frustrated with it that i threw and broke the phone in a fit of rage. i bought a op3 and i am quite satisfied though i hate the alert slider implementation, i use tasker to make the alert slider function as all/vibrate/silent.

Thanks for the hope. I am teetering on the fence of whether to go to the 6p, or stick with OP3 (even tougher decision with the recent price drop of the 6p). I'm going to wait and see what support does, since I'm past the 15 day window (and cracked the screen). I'm hoping for a compromise; maybe I can pay the cost to fix a screen, but they send me an entirely new unit.

Given the timing, unless you are in dire need of a new phone today, and if you're not going to try another OP3, I would say hold off a couple months. We are close to the HTC Nexus launch. Also, if you retry OP3, the soft gold version was just released, I really liked my gold S6, kind of wish OP had made gold an option on launch day.

Thought I'd share my story with you all in hopes that some of you may have had similar problems I've had with the Droid 3, perhaps in an effort to give me hope that one day I'll receive one that isn't shot to hell in some way shape or form.
1.) Brand-new, upgraded from the Droid 2 around the first week of August. This one lasted about a month before the slider just gave out and became so loose that it would open up by itself if I held the phone horizontally. No case was used on it prior, so I'm not sure what caused this. Never dropped it either (I baby the hell out of my phones).
2.) Replacement came in, no big deal. Attempted to slide it open right out of the box. Guess what? Wouldn't budge. Literally jammed shut. Sent it back the same day.
3.) Boot-looping from hell and 3G drop all the time in places where I should have full reception (i.e., my house). 5.6.890 was not released at this time.
4.) - 7.) Every single one had a completely jacked up sliding mechanism that would either squeek, crack, scratch, jam, or completely tear apart the left plastic portion next to the keyboard within just 5-10 slides. Unacceptable. 1 or 2 of these (lost count) also loved to boot-loop for no apparent reason. Mind you, I tried every trick in the book. Tried never installing ANY apps, tried replacing the extended battery with the stock one, tried replacing the SD-card with a different one, and hard-resetted several times. To no avail.
8.) Replacement #8. 5.6.890 is released, no more boot-looping it seems, but this one has a vibrating mechanism from hell. Whenever it would vibrate, it would sound like electricity. Haptic feedback on it felt like voltage. Unacceptable.
9.) Just received replacement #9 today. This <MAY> be a stupid thing to complain about, but wherever I press on the phone, the damn thing squeeks like it's falling apart. Press the home button ever so slightly...*squeek.* Press the back button...*rattle*. Wipe the phone down with a cloth...*rattle rattle crackle crackle squeek squeek squeeeeeeeeek*. No matter how little pressure I use, it squeeks as if its falling apart. The sliding mechanism, however, feels solid and amazing on this one. Clicks and holds tight, but OH MY GOD IS SQUEEKS AND RATTLES SO MUCH. Never had/heard this problem on the other 8 replacements.
Someone shoot me =/
Also, none of these problems arose post-root nor did I root any of the ones I owned. I have rooted my brothers and I'm currently using his to text out new ROMs and such....but it's freaking annoying. I want my own to play with and flash.
Does anyone else have weird problems? I may be a little OCD when it comes to stuff like this, but I sure as hell didn't pay 230 dollars for a boot-looping/voltage vibrating/3g dropping/SQUEEKING phone.
...does anyone else's "squeek" or "rattle" when the press down on the bottom-right or top-right corners of the phone when it's closed?
I have 2 DROID 3 have not had any issues with them. Have had them for 12 weeks now still solid

Man, sounds like you got stuck getting all the bad batch phones = / I'm really rough on my phone, and I've had none of these problems. Hopefully you can get a good one, cuz this phone is quite fantastic once rooted and rom'd. The only complaint I've ever had was the weak stock battery life, but even that isn't that bad since I've modded it.

Yea that's what I'm thinking...I just got a really bad batch. I want to finally be able to keep just one and ROM it ASAP. Ughhhh

You've replaced it just as many times as well huh? That's crazy.
the same thing happened with my droid x they all sucked they acutely had to send me a brand new one still in the box ....to fix the issues i was having ... lets just say thank God Verizon not selling cars there 100 point inspection test dosent work very well .. every time i call vzw they insure me it was put to the test i say well some one must of been blind because there is a light shining throw the screen when i just put the battery in it lol
Well I'm on the 6th, satisfied with this one so far. Most of them had the vibrate problem you mentioned. Some had light bleeding out of the screen near the softkeys. One the screen would randomly get distorted, almost like the top half of the screen was twisted and flipped around. And yes I do hear some squeaking on this one it's the back cover for mine anyway, taking it on and off too many times I assume.
Yea I'm not too sure about this 100-point inspection they keep referring to. How the hell do they miss something like what you mentioned...or an insanely squeeky/loose screen? Or even a 100% jammed screen that won't slide up? 100-point my ass.
Also, just to clarify...I absolutely love the Droid 3; I just want one that isn't jacked up. Even if they offered me a brand-new Bionic or something, I'd refuse. I love the D3, I just want one that isn't insanely jacked.

Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I've had the light-bleeding around the softkeys as well (specifically the last one I got, number 8). It was only on the bottom-right portion. Very noticeable and very annoying.
its sad becuse the razr looks nice but seems how i have had so many issues with droid x to droid x2 to droid 3 i think i am all out of spending my money on them but there attenna design is by far the best .... oh i am so torn ... i just miss 2 years ago having my droid in my hands .. life was good back then ...
I'm on my second, no issues at all.. After a 3rd replacement I would have *****ed to the point where they were sending me a new phone not a refurbished.

I did, after the 6th. I got a supervisor and she was a real B-word. I tore her apart and she refused to send me a new one. Don't think they ever would, because I was on the phone with her for about 15 minutes and she refused.
believe me i have but they just changed there policy you can keep getting as many refurbish phones. it used to be after 5 they would try to get you into something else ... well lets see the offered me the charge and tunderbolt i exsplaned to them that the only comparable device to this dorid 3 is the bionic and they wont offer that .. i am not going to down grade a dul core with the crap of last year test market no thank you ...
Wow, you must have the luck of an Irish to receive this many defective phones consecutively.

Defect Looping?
My D3 has had no real problems other than what is common to a new phone (mostly software related) and occasional operator error. I cannot calculate the statistical probability against randomly receiving nine consecutive bad phones. Either someone has targeted you to receive all the junk ones or you live somewhere with frequent over-the-top EMPs (or maybe hell). With similar experiences with the other phones as well, you must be living under some kind of curse!

Lmao. Well, considering they are all pre-owned "like new" devices...there is the probability that they were returned for the same reasons I'm returning them.
I get yet another one in the mail tomorrow...
Create a sob story and they send you a different phone. Its how i went from the droid x to the droid 3 without having an upgrade :] keep complaingin on the phone and say you want a different more reliable device thats in the same range. Then say something about the bionic {or differen phone} and they will give up and give it to you for free. just have to pay for a battery
About a week ago my D4 started to randomly shut off. Opening the keyboard, using Dolphin, or just sitting in my pocket. I am unable to turn it back on without plugging it in to a charger, like it needs a jump or something. Once it fires back up, it says I have plenty of battery. The only other thing I see is when I plug it in but don't turn it on, it says it has 0-5% battery. It is rooted with safestrap and Eclipse installed but I've been running the stock version because some things weren't working quite right in Eclipse. Iv'e seen some posts say it could be a battery problem. Others say to factory reset or SBF. I'm going to give these a try but does anyone else have any ideas? I bought it off ebay a month ago and I'm worried they might not honor the warranty being purchased second hand. Luckily I still hadn't sold my trusty D3, but I dowant to get the D4 back in operation.
I've seen this problem with a few other of my older keyboard phones and it was always a hardware issue. I bet a ribbon has pressure applied to it so that the system briefly doesn't detect a battery...

I figured something like that. Weird thing is every once in a while if I plug it in to the charger it will show 5% battery, then go up to 10% after about 20 minutes, then suddenly shoot up to 100%. The phone would work fine off the charger for about a half hour then die, rinse and repeat. So it is charging but only like 5% then it will show 100%. I'm probably just going to bring it in and hopefully get a replacement.
Well I ended up calling Verizon and they are going to send a replacement, no questions asked. Apparently it doesnt matter if you bought the phone second hand, they will still honor the warranty (or I got just the right CSR). Case closed.
Really? They told me to f* off last time I called about warranty off a phone from cl... lol
I was guessing they were going to tell me to F off as well since most people were saying that's what they do when you try to get a warranty replacement on a second hand phone. It was literally the best experience I've ever had calling any customer service line. Told him my phone wouldn't stay on, he said he was going to talk to an engineer, next thing I know he's asking for my address. Win!
interesting.. will call tomorrow (my earpiece speaker crackles) >_>
Just got to get the right person to answer. My guy actually sounded like he was based in the US, not Kazakhstan. I told the person on the phone my story and that I had already gone to an authorized retailer (which I did) and that my phone wouldnt stay on. Put me on hold for a minute, came back and said were going to get a warranty replacement out. What may have helped is that I had my D3 active on my line and D4 was deactivated, so maybe they couldnt look up the info that would flag it as not from original buyer.

Mine does this too. Not all the time, just enough to irritate me. I've been putting off calling in to get a replacement because I'm worried whatever they send me will have more problems than just a crackling ear piece.

Whoops forgot to update. New phone definitely has less crackle. Old one was very noticeable, new one has little to no crackle. Only thing was it wasn't updated when I got it, had to manually go in and have it update to 219. I don't use the rear speaker very often but I don't remember it having a cracking sound. All in all there are no issues with it
- I am in the employee advantage club so obtaining phones is a little different or somewhat harder in some cases being that you have to wait for the employee to approve it.
-Anyways I had my HTC ONE set up perfected, but the camera was becoming increasingly worse with the purplelicious pictures.
-Picked up my phone today from my contact @ sprint and it was all sealed nothing was out of place and it looked good.
-First things first checked the hboot, baseband and android version which is on I 1.44 and android 4.1.2 and so I was happy.
-First thing I noticed the dang power button was messed up when I pressed it it would sag to the right and go inside the phone. I called sprint to activate it the phone once I got it on and it took about an hour of changing ## numbers. Finally good but...
-Now I am thinking maybe i can live with the power button but i noticed something else; there was now vibration from the phone what so ever. I checked every single dang option and everything is enabled but still no vibration. Well I called sprint and gave them my rant about their quality and assurance control which I was very pissed about after waiting sometime for the replacement. Then called my Sprint contact to reorder another phone but this licks. My phone was in prestigous condtion despite the camera and I receive a much far worse phone in return.
Anyways end Rant-
I am curuious if anyone else has had a similar issue with the vibration function not working or just receiving a shady phone all together.
I've been lucky. My first phone blew the top speaker but my second one is perfect. Neither of them had the camera issue.

Had my phone repaired. It came back with scratches (yes, scratches that I KNOW were caused after they opened and processed it), and gaps, and glue out the corners, and a crappy power button. It was dropped once by a person I was showing it to (had taken the case off just for them) and who tried to press the power button, resulting in it falling onto hard tile from ~5 feet.

I must say I have been lucky as well in the past especially with my OG EVO'. They sent brand new ones no questions asked. I didnt have to use Total Protection either for the defects.
I never knew that the purple haze was really an issue. A lot of photos without a quality camera don't work well at night unless you are good at tweaking. Unfortunately mine was getting progressively worse even in good lighting conditions. Sprint will make it right, but it more less a convenience issue. I thought I scored too with the 1.44 Hboot hopefully the next one will have the same Hboot.
I took the firmware update on the defective phone. I get much better battery life on android 4.3 IMO. I wish I could walk in the store and say my phone is tweaked can I get another and call it a day, but being in the discount program with the huge savings I am considered an employee and have to wait for regular or new consumers to get items first.
Thanks for the stories and replies.
I have Jump, and due to a loose home button, ordered a replacement S6 from TMobile yesterday at about 3:30. It was confirmed that it was in stock and I would get it today. I got a tracking number for UPS, but it only says its received the order to be processed, it hasn't been given to UPS yet. Is this typical of UPS? Not updating the info? Or is it more likely TMobile dropped the ball and still hasn't given it to UPS yet?
That's normal. Tracking info sometimes take longer to get updated.

I'm just wondering if it didn't actually ship yesterday, I would think it would have been at least showing it in UPS's hands by now.
FYI OP I'm sure your new phone will also have a loose home button and if its not loose, it will become loose eventually.

This thing was/is really wobbly, and its not reading my thumb print but maybe 20% of the time, but yeah, I know it'll loosen up somewhat over time, but it shouldn't be like this at 3 weeks old.
I called TMo and they said UPS pick up is at 8pm, more than enough time for it to be picked up yesterday, and they don't know why it wasn't given to UPS. So they are filing paperwork trying to figure out just where it is right now.

Yeah mine was really bad as well, my new one is rock solid. Had the new one since the 14th but I did it through a store and got a brand new unopened one on the spot. Took all of ten minutes from the time I walked in the door.

UPS system updates as soon as the driver signs the pickup manifest. If it hasn't updated, they didn't get it.
FWIW : My S6 with a build date of 04/03/15 was HORRIBLE in comparison to my 05/04/15 phone. Ratting buttons, insane battery drain, etc. New phone displays none of those problems.
I too exchanged at a T-Mobile retail store, since that's where I originally purchased the device
I have received about 3 replacements for my GS6 and the first one was new but had a loose home button see in had a home button stop workin and was loose and thee chamfered edges were badly scratched the b ew in just got is brand new looks brand new and has not problems knock in wood at all
tmobile s6 issues
when i got my s6 the back button was an issue, sometimes it didn't respond that wasn't a big deal so i kept it. then i started having phone calls where there was no audio so i had to drop the call and call again. and a week ago the screen would freeze and couldnt open any app or slide between windows, but i could open the camera with double tap on home and open the notification window but thats it and had to reset. then last night for some reason the back button was stuck, is there even an actual button to get stuck? everything app i open would exit after a few minutes and started getting shorter to a few seconds. factory reset the phone twice and couldnt get past initial setup because of all the back button spamming.
before the back button failure i did order replacement which should get here on the 9th. hoping that has no issues cause so far my Tmobile experience is not going well. phone issues, signal issues. support issues, all i get from support are links to tmobile support website. stuff i already read through before i talk to support.

How do you see the phone's build date? I've heard other people state that their battery life is awful and some state that it's the best ever. My battery life is kinda "meh", but getting better with newer ROMs... I honestly am not sure if my placebo effect or my phone happens to be one of the good ones or if 2-3h SOT with 1-2 days on XtoLite (sp) is only because of the ROM.

So, I have an S10 that I bought a day or two after christmas. I got mine at an equivalent Big W or Walmart for about 45% off the launching price. It was the first batch of the S10 to be made btw. It was flawless up until today I guess. I noticed that something was rattling. Only when I shake it back and forth, side to side still rattles, but not much. I covered the buttons with my fingers and shook it just to make sure it wasnt the buttons, it wasnt. So I took out the sim tray, and noticed the noise got louder. After not knowing what it is, I googled it up, and found many threads pointing towards it could be the cameras a.k.a the OIS. So I opened the camera app with the main lens and shook it again, it got quieter, only by a hair. Literally, it was barely any quieter, I switched to the tele lens and found the same results, it only got quieter by a hair. Switching to the ultrawide and the noise became normal, normal as in the noise didnt soften as the other 2 lens. Ive also looked online that Samsung would refuse a replacement. But heres the thing, it also affects video and audio recording, granted I doubt that anyone would shake their phones while recording lol. The point is, it affects the user experience. If it didnt, Id try to get over it. The warranty policy for the place where I got is a bit more strict than other vendors. The policy is if you buy a discounted phone with them, the device will not be eligible for a replacement, if anything goes wrong. The device will only be eligible for repairs under warranty. Which is my case. I looked for videos online, and they have similar problems. However, mine seems quite louder than the ones on Youtube. This really bugs me. Im the type of person that if I find a defect or imperfection, I couldnt get over it. (-_-) Any suggestions on what I should do? The current situation prevents me from going outside my house :/ Ill attach a couple of clips below. One is showing the phone, the other one while recording.
Oh, and yesterday I left my phone on my wireless charger and when I checked again, it wont charge. The phone says its charging, but the number wasnt going up. It was really hot too for some reason (45c). So I tried the wired method, using the stock charger. Again, it wouldnt charge, it got hot also. Ive done a restart before I tried charging with the cable. So I shut it down, and let charge using the cable. The next day it was fine. Ive installed One UI 2.1 the hour it got released, so I doubt its a software issue. Im pointing this out because we know that the S10 lineup has a non-replaceable charging port. This is where my warranty policy comes into play again. -_-
Thanks if you read it all through, and (if) replying. Im torn at this point..

It's normal don't worry about it. In order for your camera to take steady videos while recording your camera moves in accordance to your movement so the image on your screen is not shaky. The noise you hear is actually the camera moving when you shake it. Also who the f shakes their phone? Leave it well and truly alone this is the way the phone is designed. If you still don't understand it take the phone back and get something else. But then again a lot of new phones have this now.

Hey its the back camera sensor, which offers variable focus aperture(I think), there is a mechanical part, you can also hear a mechanical sound when u open camera app, or switch (f1.8-2.4 in pro mode.

I can hear the aperture change I'm aware of that. It's just the OIS just rattled out of the blue.
Just checked and indeed, mine does exactly the same. My old S9+ also did this, however I only noticed after it broke (random boot loops every few weeks after a reset).
Appears from what people are saying, this is normal, so don't worry
