After I flashed Marshmallow NightOwl 20160711 rom, sound does not come through speaker anymore when I plug my headphones in. This pretty much made me sleep right to midnoon for several days. I even tried an app with an option to make alarm come through both headphones and speaker only to no avail. I guess the problem lies with android 6.0. Anyone here has an idea how to fix this?
Try reinstalling the rom

Just flashed 1.5.20 of miui today.
My headphone icon still comes up on the notification bar, when the headphones arent in. So pretty much im having trouble listening to my music out of my speakers, and when i want to listen to them with my headphones. Dont know if im supposed to wipe something in recovery, Just give me a reply back. thanks.
1. Don't double post 2 threads isn't appropriate.
2. Flash to stock if you still have the problem it's hardware related and get a warranty replacement.
if it goes away just avoid that rom I s'pose.
okay, so far ive been talking on the phone with headphones plugged in so i can at least hear from the speaker. The rom is miui, its been really buggy with my phone, probably because its still beta.
When I am listening through headphones, notification sounds always come out the speaker. This has happened since I first got the revolution and even after the GB update, it still happens. Is there a way to change it so the notifications come through the headphones?
So, here's the deal,
The sound works fine when using the speakers, but, when I plug in ANY headphones, while it does recognize them, the sound is so low that, even in a completely silent room I can barely hear anything.
The volume is at Max, I have cleaned the headphone jack many times.
Important information : I started when I flashed a cutom rom. I thought it maybe was a software problem, so I restore the stock rom, but the problem persist.
Please help me guys, Music is my life haha
Thanks in advance!
sounds like a break in the connection of the port...
no easy fix unfortunately, are you sure there isnt anything, lint or anything, maybe jammed down in there?
I was using cm and at first i thought it's the problem with cm build so i flashed stock rom. That didnt help. Speaker is not dead, there is sound when phone is ringing but there is no sound while playing media and during calls so i figure out it looks like phone is thinking that headphones are connected but they are not. Plugging and unplugging headphones couple of times didnt help. Putting phone in safe mode didnt help, tried to blow headphone jack with vacuume cleaner (i have nothing better) and it didnt help. I am out of options, any ideas guys?
I cannot believe, it worked:

Weird problem, no "media" related sounds. Alarm, calls, ringtone work perfectly
Hello, for some reason in the last couple of days i can hear no media related sound.
What's weird though is that i can hear normally call sounds, phone ringing and alarm.
The issue started while on the latest version of MIUI. I thought this was related with operating system so I installed Pixel Experience 10 (through complete wipe out, even internal storage). The problem persists there as well.
After looking around, it looks like people had similar issue when the phone mistakenly thought headphones were connected. As it turns out, this is not the case with me. (see 2nd post)
Edit #2:
It looks like it's indeed the "earphone mode" thats causing the problem. Using the aerphone mode off app I managed to get media sound playing again. The problem now is that as soon as i close the app, earphone phone turns back on. Any ideas for permanent fix are welcome.
Thanks
looking around, it looks like the phone might somehow got stuck in like "headphones connected" mode.
I've never connected in the past with any kind of headphones, but i got the charging port changed.
In any case i've tried connecting and disconnecting with Bluetooth headphones but didn't solve the problem.
I will see if i can get my hands on any type-c ones and try again.
Edit: i see there is an option to select the audio output device, and the phone is the only choice, so the headphones mode wasn't the problem
