USB A-to-C cables [EU] - OnePlus 3 Accessories

Hi,
Currently I only have the dash carger and it's a bit of a hassle to carry it around between my home/car/work. So I need a few cables for my pc/car as well as converting two old chargers to USB-C. Four cables with set me back some €60 + shipping, and IMO that's totally off the chart. I know about the Google Excel list but most of them are only available in the US.
Anybody find any safe cables in the EU?
Thanks. :good:

I just bought randomly three different USB-C cables, one from Ebay and two from banggood and all seems to be working fine with different chargers. Of course i cannot get that fast charging feature to work but it still draws the regular 2A or similar without any issue. Im not sure what is the hassle around the cables on this phone.

Thanks, please let me know which ones if you get the chance.
The hassle is not with this phone but USB-C in general. As I understand it the standard is fine but if the cables are not done correctly, and a lot of ebay cables apparently are not, there is a chance of shortcircut which may damage the phone.

I tested those and one ebay cable with standard 5V/2A charged and they all gave 1,4-1,6A current to phone while dash charger+cable gives 3,5A.

USB to Power Outlet adapter?

Where can I buy more of the little adapter that you plug the USB cable in to, then plug the adapter into to your wall power outlet?
I'm planning on coupling it with this cable: monoprice!com/products/product.asp?c_id=103&cp_id=10303&cs_id=1030307&p_id=5459&seq=1&format=2
My Incredible charges MUCH faster when plugged in to a power outlet than it does when plugged in to USB.
I just bought two off of Ebay that I will be trying out. I will let you know if they work which ones they are. I do know that the one from Monoprice.com doesn't work well so I would avoid that one.
Ok I got a few of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=2#ht_500wt_1182
"PLO" brand "Powerbug" - meant for GPS devices but they work perfect with the incredible. 5v, 1A, 5watt (same as stock HTC charger). I got two at $8 each so not bad. They are nice looking compared to the generic Monoprice usb charger.
EDIT ** Don't think these have as much power as the stock charger. Spare parts states "Charging (USB)" when using these, so it's like being plugged up to a computer. Still a good deal at $8
The usb to wall plugs from monoprice are no good. I ordered several before I knew better. None of them worked properly...or for Any longer than 20 minutes.

Have you actually got it and tried it and it works? I did a search on Best Buy's website and they have them but they're $27! If yours works, I'll snag a few off of ebay before people realize how useful they are and jack the price up.
Powerbug description says mini-USB, Incredible uses Micro USB B...good luck. Let us know how they work...
I use a Boxwave Versa Charger. Plugs into mains or into car DC power outlet.

It sure does, however, if you take a look at the picture, its simply a USB slot that the mini-usb cable plugs into, which means that any USB cable could work as the OP asked about. I'd say this would work well. However, I grabbed http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/powerduouniversal and it works great and I can just move my cable from my car to my house and have power everywhere.
don't buy aftermarket USB A/C adapters unless it's just for an overnight charge. You can't use the screen when using an aftermarket adapter. It's quite annoying. every single touch screen phone I have had has this problem.

Yes, but I have a variety of micro usb cables already. Take mini usb cable, throw in trash, use your own micro usb cables.

Yes I bought two and both of them work fine. Not sure if they charge as fast or not as the STOCK charger, but they are rated the exact same. The only thing I don't like about them is they have a blue light around the USB port. I found those at $8 each which is a lot better than paying $30 each somewhere else. I found these in another thread and the person was finding them even cheaper at some discount store I had never heard of. I'll leave one at work, one out in the garage or somewhere. The HTC charger will stay in the bedroom.

That's not true. While the monoprice wall charger DID have a screen issue, the screen works perfectly fine with these chargers. And I used all kinds of chargers with my previous HTC Touch and never had a screen issue.

I have several aftermarket USB AC heads that work just fine with the Incredible. All of them purchased some time ago.
I've been using my old iphone power blocks without any problems, though its only been a couple days if charging.
Depending on the price, you may be able to snag some fairly cheap with all of the companies that make cheap iphone/ipod accessories. Unfortunately I have enough power blocks so I don't have a need to buy/test any others.
I would be curious about other peoples experiences though.

I have some Ipod AC adapters as well. I was thinking they'd be safe to use since lower amp for the Incredible... but what of the reverse? Can you use the Incredible AC wall block safely on other devices? It's 1A instead of the .5A for Iphone/Ipod.
I'm trying to travel with less charges!

Lost the stock cable, now I need some input before I waist my money...

I went on a trip to a friends place, 400 miles away, and I seem to have left my charge cable behind when I departed. (Grabbed the wall wart, but forgot the cable. Still kicking myself) Getting it shipped will be a major pain, so I come here asking for some help clearing up what I dont understand after searching.
What types of cable will allow USB interaction between my PC and my phone and which ones will not?
When I use my girl friends charger, which is mini usb but not intended for a smart phone, it charges fine, but if I use that cable between the computer and the phone I cannot get it to interact.
Sorry for being noobish, but I really did search. Just found a lot of conflicting info...
I (also) don't understand why there's a difference in micro-USB cables.
Micro-usb = micro-usb, right??
Don't these have requirements like HDMI cables?
I find any brand name cable works fine. I've had bad luck with the really cheap generic ones. I have successfully used my HP Touchpad cable and a blackberry branded cable. The connections fit fine and data transferred fine.
The reason your mini (micro?) USB charges and doesn't transfer data could be because it it a charge only cable and if you look in the USB-A end (large end) you may find it only has 2 contacts instead of 4.
As far as I know, any micro USB should work. I use cables from Moto, LG, Samsung, HP (touchpad), and generic at home and all work fine. A lot of the generic ones do die, or develop a defect where they charge only from a particular angle.
When I need a new cable, I hit up monoprice.com for some of the highest quality generic USB cables I have ever used, they have good cables for everything, they are cheap too (lots of places like big box stores re-brand the Monoprice cables and charge WAY more)
your favorite auction site is also a good place to look. I check the "used" box when searching for cell phone accessories to find cables and wall worts people no longer need, that usually still work great.
I have a nokia one that works perfectly if you want it. Just pay $3 for shipping to my paypal. Let me know.

Generally speaking any mUsb cable will work with minor exceptions such as the one that comes with the car dock which is charge only. But no need to guess and no need to bid on an auction and no need to pay big bucks at the Verizon store. Just go here:
http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-SPN5...7?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1330014705&sr=1-7
and for $4.79 and free shipping you get the cable and the power brick and its even a Motorola branded one if you care about that.

Did your charger died? DONT BUY BELKIN HOME CHARGER

Hi, my original charger just died, so i decided to buy a good charger, and i rembember thinking "Well, belkin is a well known company, it should work". Long story short, i bought it for 30dls, worked but it charged at 300mha. So i wanted to punch everyone at belkin.
Apparently this charger is not compatible with the LG G2 and im ****ed.
I just wanted to share my experience so no one here go and buy it.

Thanks for the heads up. Most aftermarket chargers like Belkin are garbage. You'd think that at $30+ it would be top notch, but they're actually made to be as cheap as possible by mediocre engineers so they end up being exceedingly terrible. Not only do they not measure up to spec but the output voltage is unstable and has a TON of noise. It's obviously always preferable to go with a good oem charger when possible. Unfortunately they're somewhat hard to find separately without actually buying something and if you do find one for sale they're are a lot of fakes out there so it can be risky.
By far best chargers that are easily attainable are the apple usb chargers. After comparing the apple usb chargers(both 5w and 12w) and a bunch of other usb chargers(both oem and aftermarket) I have using an oscilloscope at work, the apple chargers have the cleanest output by a wide margin. Just be sure to buy them from a major retailer. It's not worth risking getting a fake because at that point you might as well use the belkin.
Additionally, the original 2014 moto x charger and kindle 5w and 9w changers are also very good.
While I prefer the 1A/5w chargers to extend the life of the battery, you can also get the 9w-12w ones which will charge faster if that's something you need. Be sure to use a quality cable too.
edit:
This guy did something similar to what I did but actually took the time to document it. It's very informative and shows how much quality can vary between different chargers.

You can probably find the same/similar thing on ebay for under $2. But you have to keep in mind that not all usb chargers are created equal, especially these cheap aftermarket ones. While it may charge your devices, the quality of the power it delvers may or may not be good. Not to mention that it might not be made to even minimal safety standards - for both you and the device. Even though the charger you recommend may very well be fantastic, it is of unknown quality. Given that the vast majority of all aftermarket usb chargers are substandard, it can be reasonably assumed that this one isn't an anomaly.
I recommended the apple charger because it's known to be of very good quality and it's easy to find.
Check out this site:
http://www.righto.com/2014/05/a-look-inside-ipad-chargers-pricey.html
The author compares a genuine ipad charger with a fake one. Assuming that the majority of aftermarket chargers are built to the same standard(or worse) as the fake, it amazes me that anyone would even consider using one let alone pay for it. What is the logic in saving a couple bucks and potentially risking several hundred? I would rather spend $20 once and have piece of mind in knowing that I have the best.
you are right, but i've just gave you a link to the pretty cheap charger that works well with G2 and as i've said - it charges my tablet as well...
i don't just buy random stuff on ebay... i always do a little research before buying anything - especially buyer comments & reviews...
and alzashop also doesn't sell crap...
btw ConnectIT brand does a bunch of IT gadgets, usb chargers are just a drop in the ocean...
Try using Dorimanx kernel and set the Force charge on (1600+ mah) and try the charger again
I had the same issue when I bought an Oem HTC one M9 charger but only charged at 300 mah sometimes
I used dorimanx and now it charges at around 1800+ mah

Dash charge with other cables than original?

I bought a retractable charging-cord which is great except that it doesn't dash-charge.
Is it possible to charge with other cables than original?
If so, what should I look for to see if a cable supports dash-charge?

I'm pretty sure DASH is proprietary to OP... But either way they are 5V/4A... I rolled the dice and bought some off the app wish/geek and 2 cables worked with dash and one didn't.. I really didn't expect any results giving my $5.00 investment but it paid off.

Chargers? surprised this thread doesn't exist

So I just ordered the phone but I also realized that I will probably need a new charger and a longer USB-C as well. So would you, dear XDA members, in your ever-infinite wisdom enlighten me as to which chargers/cables are best for this phone?
Why would you need a new charger when there is one bundled with the phone? Any long USBC to USBC cable is fine with the bundled charger.

Because having multiple chargers is convenient and better than moving around with a single one. Also no, they are not the same an Anker powerline series isn't the same as some ****ty $3 Chinese knock off.
How is "moving around with multiple chargers" more convenient than moving around with a single charger?
Might as well carry multiple phones & battery-packs in you rucksack while you are at it!
The "Anker powerline series" are more than likely made in China too.
I wouldn't call the ROG 3 original charger a 'cheap knock-off' or be derogatory towards China.
I enjoy having a charger at my desk, by my bed, and one in the kitchen. While I can walk the charger around, it would be very convenient to simply plug in wherever I am in the house. It also ensures I can leave one in the bag without having to worry about forgetting yet another thing.

I would say to buy another official charger and cable as it is a true problem to find a good charger and a good cable that will allow you to charge your phone the same way as the original one that is of a really good quality.
