N920P Modem Change- CHINA! - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys. I bought a Note 5 not to long ago and i decided to flash the marshmallow firmware. After the flashing, my phone isn't able to grab signal anymore. The base-band modem did change and i believe that's where my problem resides. I been trying to figure out how to switch the modem back to N920PVPU2AOI6. Since this one did give me service in china, although i believe the radio was working too hard, thus killing the battery life on the device way too fast. If you guys have another modem in mind that will work much better in China please do help me out with a LINK!
future thanks guys.

We have two hurdles. First, Samsung mobile Canada is still working on Froyo for the I9000M (it seems like it but I am not too sure). Second, Bell has to approve the firmware and put their app that works on 2.2.
When will those be done? Well, all we can do is cross our fingers. What I have realized while living in Canada for 15 years is that everything is REALLY slow here.

It's in Questions and Answers section for a reason; no need for a title change.
I'm guessing sometime in December..
Just a heads-up to anybody thinking of using the international JP6 firmwares: don't do it if you're on Bell's network!
You'll lose the 850 MHz band. I learned the hard way.

Yeah if Samsung would also just fix their Kies program too that would be good... it shut my phone off and wouldn't let it turn back on until I pulled the battery. What gives?

850Mhz Band / SD Card Issue?
Hi there,
I am on Bell and I am thinking of doing some customization of firmware for this device (i.e., 2.2 if it is available).
What is the 850Mhz Band issue/SD card issue you refer to? Is there any firmware you recommend I should try that might actually work okay with Bell?
(sorry for the noobish question.........)
Thanks in advance!

Come back when Samsung has properly rolled it out throughout Europe. Until then no one really knows...
Got a message from Samsung Canada and there are no release dates as of yet. They said they were still working with the carriers to finalize a date.
I'm guessing they will be releasing country by country and Canada will be near the end of the list. Typically we see leaked ROMs some time before an official release and so far there hasn't been anything for north america. Canada needs a different radio then the rest of the world and because we are a smaller market we won't be as high a priority.
I never have problem with wcdma 850 on froyo with bell i9000m, all u need to do is flash the jh2 modem and change csc to bmc, then u have the original bands back, the only problem im having w jp6/jpm is battery drain, when i ran the spare parts battery info, showing my phone is running 100%, any anyone know how to fix that let me know

This is the problem with using the JH2 modem in Froyo. it is not designed for it, which is also why you cannot see the signal status numbers in the settings menu on Froyo as well.
We know it's possible to get Froyo working on an I9000M, but MANY people have lost their internal SD and there is no Froyo modem available that supports the 850mhz wcdma band.
the carriers need to just say ya sure update it. You don't even get it through the carriers you get it through ****ty kies. It's late october the update better be coming in the next 11 days.
There is some miss information in this thread. I am using a bell i9000m with froyo on it. And so is my girlfriend. We both live in an area where 850mhz 3G is the prominent band and still have 850mhz 3G signal.
I flashed doc's JPM RomMod and it works 100%. No sd card issues (internal or external) or problems of any kind.
Offical froyo wont be out untill december is my guess. Bell has to load it up with their bloatware before they even release it and its not even finished yet.

You need to go to samsfirmware and download the correct rom for yr region...Rule of thumb if you clearly dont know what you are doing with Roms and your phone then leave your phone well alone.......
I hang my head in shame, i did try and research flashing for a few days and finally got up the courage. I "tried" flashing darkys 9.3 but after the reboot loads of services would work. Frustrated all day as this is the 1st contract phone ive ever owned, feel such a pratt!Where do i go from here?
Nick.

Super newbie Question (Modem)

first of all I installed MIUI rom a week ago ..
it took me 2 hours to just do that..
then I figured out that people are flashing thing called "kernel' which apparently makes phone faster. So i flashed glitch kernel
then I noticed people talking about modem..
what does this modem do and what is the best modem for miui rom?
thanks in advance
I am a super newbie as well.
But I think people change their modem because sometimes the phone signal (3G/2G or whatever) is just too lower than the usual.
It seems to be different phone to phone. But if your phone signal seems normal, you don't need to anything (I guess )

Modems are the software that establishs and controls your phone, data and gps signal. Some modems work better in certain regions or with certain carriers. Some may be best with gps, or shine at data transmission. Also if your phone supports the 850 band you will need a modem that supports that. Getting the best signal you can is important because the sgs can burn a lot of battery life seeking and finding a solid connection.
Modems are painless and quick to flash via recovery, so it never hurts to try a few out to find the best for you and your usage.

[Q] What is the best (and compatible modem) for Malaysia that can be used with JVR?

Hi all,
I was just wondering, does anyone know what is the best and compatible modem that can be used with JVR for Malaysia? It seems that i'm having issues with GPS with this FW, and i wanted to test different modems.
Any response would be much appreciated!
bump
i would also like to know...
All modems are compatible with all roms, that´s not a problem. About coverage and battery saving, well, I think the best you can do is try one for a few days, then another and compare.

[Q] Flashing SGH-i957 for the first time

Hey guys first of all I'd like to thank you for taking the time to read my post, I'm really new to tablets and apologize ahead of time! First I'll tell you the problem I'm having and hope that one of you can help me resolve it (crosses fingers). I have a SGH-i957R, the r stands for Rogers I think, the carrier that I got the tablet from. Now I'm on a new carrier called Bell and they have this Mobile TV app that will not load due to the tablets model not matching the supported ones (SGH-i957) and bells (SGH-I957M). I have found the bell Firmware from the sammobile website and downloaded it. I'm not 100% sure how to flash the bell firmware onto this rogers tablet, I've read about going into download mode with holding the volume buttons, and I have the Odin app that I think is required, but I'm not 100% on the process. I've been looking on google for the last 4 hours trying to find the proper way to get all of this done with no luck. Thank you all ahead of time for reading and I hope one of you can point me to a proper howto, for now I'll keep searching and hoping I find something myself !
