Hi,
I have a really weak GPS signal with my S5 Mini G800F. So I searched in web and found that many people had problems with GPS on Galaxy series. I found this thread for S3 complaining about weak GPS signal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44725977#post44725977
My question: Anyone else has weak GPS and find a solution for it? Can I test the "solution" for S3 with S5 Mini too?
Thanks in advance!
Not all S5 mini have bad GPS !
Search here on XDA and you wil find some have made a mod to thier phone.
I posted a hardware fix for a S5 (Duos) here:
[Q] GPS Issue
Hello all, After 2 week I bought my G800H, the GPS star to take too long to get GPS Signal. Some times more than 10 minutes Even with 3G (H+) working well and the configuration in "High accuracy". Other thing that happens is the GPS...

Hi,
I did a forum search for GPS and only found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=759976&highlight=gps
Question - Is it generally accepted that GPS is poor on the Galaxy S or is there a known fix or ROM where it actually works well i.e. does not take an age to connect and can pinpoint your location to 20m or so.
HTC Hero was miles better.

I just got the T-Mobile Galaxy tab, and for some reason the GPS is not working at all... It shows the gps sign on the notification bar, but in maps, gps test, and gps status, there is no GPS data!
PLEASE HELP!
Thank you so much in advance,
Michael
i noticed that GPS perf is average indoor, if not below average. it is comparable to HTC Touch Pro, which is quite disappointing.
If you are trying from indoor, try to take it outside. many apps are saying that GPS works better when used with clear sky and i think it performs much better outside.

I would make sure that I'm not using a case that has a magnet or any kind of metal on it. They interfere with radios and especially the GPS.
A couple of months ago I started using a Zenus case which has magnetic buttons. Almost immediately my GPS stopped working. It took me a very long time to figure out the real culprit. I tried rooting, changing some gps related files etc. None worked until one day when after accidentally leaving the cover at home I switched on the GPS - it started working.
Dude, you should update the maps in your galaxy tab. I updated already my maps and gps is runing smooth.

I bought a tab last week in Germany. The gps work fine in Germany, Holland and Belgium. But right now I am in Turkey and here it just keeps "searching" but never gets a location.
I wonder why and what, but I suspect location has something to do with it.

hello i have a samsung galaxy tab (sprint) i live in malaysia, but when i on the gps it detect my location at hawaii plizz help me!!!
GPS not working
Hi
You definitely need to be outdoor for GPS receiver to obtain signal.
If indoors, you'll get signal if you have tile roof, not steel or concrete.
With a-gps, it might look like you are getting signal but actually, your device is using data to obtain location from cellular towers.
For best and quickest reception, enable your device's location and a-gps. Note, a-gps does not use lot of data, very little.
Hey guys
I have my mother's Galaxy S here, where the GPS has a special issue:
It often just stops working - in GPS test it sees and uses 0 satellites, in Waze and GPS Test etc, it does not say GPS disconnected, but just that no GPS lock yet.
Sometimes it would suddenly work and have a lock, only to loose it again randomly (in town, on open roads too).
We had it in 2 laboratories, both for some reason insist on changing ROMs, and the problem is not resolved.
The last store says that they cant guarantee this problem is fixable, and that Galaxy S from all countries is known to have very weak, problematic GPS.
Does this make sense? its hard for me to believe, and sounds more like a cover-up for their inability to fix it..
What do you think? anything I can do? other than accept that this phone is doomed?
Best GPS Fix for Samsung GT-i9000 Galaxy S
That actually doesn't work for me...
My GPS requires me to have an active internet connection when I search for satellites, for some reason it's impossible to get locks on more than one satellite without

Hi!
I own Samsung S3 mini phone since 2 weeks. I used to use GPS alot for outdoor sports, such as biking or hiking with my old Samsung Galaxy Ace phone. I'm running a problem with the GPS as the signal lost every minute, so I can't record my own ride or anything.
I've been checking this site but i didn't see anything regarding to this issue. I know that a lot of people is getting this problem with S3 terminal, and they have developed some fixes that can solve the problem, but not for S3 mini. Do anyone know something about it? I read somewhere that this problem could be caused by the RADIO or MODEM file, but i can't see any other file to try it out.
I'm runing a rooted deodexed ROM (AMB3)
Hope someone can help with this issue. I tried with GPS STATUS but is not fixing the problem.
Cheers
sorry guys... I just flashed 4.1.1 firmware and now works cool. Isn't anyone with this troubles in 4.1.2?

i heard there is....is this true?
TechnoBuffalo mentioned GPS problems in their review - http://www.technobuffalo.com/reviews/htc-one-review/
Could someone verify that you can use The One as a satnav for a car? Or maybe if it keeps a lock while in a pocket and running MyTracks?
Poor GPS was the biggest problem for me with Galaxy S, and it was so good with Galaxy S3. S(1) had problems keeping a fix even if mounted on a windshield in a car. S3 kept a lock even if I had it iny my backpack when driving a car.
I use for 2 hour work commute. Never lost signal in London and fast fix. Better than my TomTom.
USING: BB Z10, HTC ONE and GALAXY NOTE 2
Thanks, that's very good to hear.

So don't worry about the GPS
GPS Problem
I have gps problem with my HTC One in Turkey. The iPhone or GalaxyS3 runs perfectly but HTC One is awful
My HTC One is about 30-40 m off.
It probably isn't the quickest but gets the job done. The accuracy is good. Sometime it's a few meters off, but that's not a big issue for me.
Hmmm, interesting.
My GPS used to be good, no loss of signal.
But one day it just lost signal, tried different roms and reset back to stock rom, the accuracy is way off and signal is poor.
