Hello. I have Sony Xperia T lt30p. Some time ago I decided to try to obtain some new version of Android in my phone. Since Sony no longer provide updates to my phone I have to do it by my self. I tried to study what needs to be done and try not to hurry things but there are still some major setback I cannot overcome. I am able to atleast Root my device but I unable to get further. Next step on my list is to unlock my bootloader. I check that my phone is unlockable but I stragle with part where I should connect my phone in fastboot mode and update drivers in my computer. For some reason my phone appears in Device manager just for few seconds and thus I am unable to upgrade drivers. I tried to click on update and choose where my drivers are stored, than my phone disapear from device manager but I keep that window open, then disconnect my device, connect again and click next but updating will fail again. I tried to Google it but I find only one post about this problem and the person solved it.by method I just described. Can someone please help me? I would like to use this thread as solver of my problems to get to higher android version. I hope I will be able to close this post soon
Thank you for your help.
I've had problems with that too, just do thisand repeat the process agin
Also read this guide about unlocking xperia bootloader
Thank you, it worked! Only diffence is that after using method from your first link I instaled this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830
and then unlocked my bootloader. Great!
I now have my phone rooted and unlocked.
Next step is to install custom recovery and then some custom ROM.
Do you have any advice guys? What kind of custom ROM would you suggest me? I have Sony Xperia T lt30p with android 4.3.
Just simply 4.3? Or 5.1.1? And why? And do you know any good guide?
Thank you very much

So I got myself into really funny situation I'm stuck.
I worked with xperia mini pro everything was fine.
Now I got x8 well older one... And all i did was rooted it with flashtool.
Everything was working fine from that point with root rights like root uninstaller (I just tested didn't deleted anything).
And then I made "factory reset" Deletes everything from sd card and bla bla bla well you guys know what i mean.
After that I wanted to install kernel but it's not that easy. So I first read alot and did not do that. Since it would require bootloader unlock and thats pain with 11W29.
So just after factory rest somehow I bricked my phone...
But it's interesting brick... VERY INTERESTING.
It turns on, it has flash mode. I can update it via update setup and tried to do that.
Nothing helps all I get is :
phone loading normally, then there is no menu, not sony ericsson home, not go launcher, no settings available no nothing...
To explain my problem i will upload screenshot.
And I can't flash it now since it's not bootloader unlocked.
And I can't access anything from phone.
This is what you call hard brick?
Hard brick is when You can't turn on phone, so there isn't any way to install ROM again. In Your case it's strange soft brick, cause it looks like ther isn't any launcher If You can enter into flash mode than You should reinstall stock ROM and kernel using flashtool (with version 0.2.9.1 cause it's more stable with older devices, such as x8).
Its not bricked. / You can use android commander to push recovery.
It's stock already and I tried stock launcher via updatesetup of SE,
And I think i need bootloader unlock to flash it ? or I'm wrong.
And Later on i will try with older version of flashtools
thx for answers guys.
No, unlocked bootloader allows You to install custom kernels, but some ROMs works also with stock SE kernel, so You don't have to unlock bootloader to install custom ROM or back to stock ROM
So i'm back again on same problem....
I have a Question if you wanna flash phone from flashmode u don't have to have unknown sources and debugging turned on.
Since i can't do that...
My following actions :
I will try to install fresh win7 32bit, since now i'm on 64 and on this system i was working with mini pro xperia, so maybe that may be the case...
I'll try to flash it with older version of flashtools 0.2.9.1 I guess if i remember it right (but on this windows OS It gives me : Error Flashing. aborted)
And I installed flashtools drivers and everything i'm 100% sure of that.
What I tried :
I also tried flashing it from Linux / ubuntu . same as with windows i get :
Error flashing. Aborted.
PCC gives me error when i try to repair it.
Update Service Dose everything as normal but same problem remains I don't get launcher or something just that empty desktop
And I would love you guys if you would give me few links to stock firmware of
x8 11W29 / E15i
And if you have something else to suggest please help me ;D

Hello and thanks for your reply. I tried flashing my x8 with provded ftf file and the problem still remains the same. If it is any help i can normally increase volume, access emergency calls and keyboard and other things. But the screen remains blue. And i also remember that the thing which is supposed to appear here is the language setup, if there is any way to set up main language outside android system i guess that could help.
Again thanks for your reply and your time!

Try Flashing a Costume ROM for stock kernel via Recovery.
Here is a list of ROMs. Just make sure you download one that says (Stock).
Hello,
I'm new here and i first of all will apologize myself for my bad English.
Further i will ask for some effective help.
I have bought a Xperia x8 device with Android 4. .. (and other numbers)
Now thats not original/official. This was rooted etc. with Cyanogen 9.0 and one or another flash program 'nad'.
Now I read about it and i tried SuperOneClick and Flashtool.net for getting the phone fully back to the moment he was ever bought. Then a will upgrade it to the newest version of android official available for that x8 with the official Sony tools. But that is not so easy.
Now there is going something wrong with (I think) SuperOneClick, but the point is that I don't have anything more on the phone. When i put the battery in the phone, it only will start up with the message Sony Ericsson, and that's it. An 'empty device' I think, like they say.
Now my question is can and how can I repair that to what I wanted to do? Can you please explain it with much details in simple English please, if it's possible?
With kindly regards
Delelith

Hi,
I can't enter the flash mode on the phone when I press the back/return button, what now?
Greetz
Impossible, you must 'hold back botton' while connecting USB cable from both sides.
"why do we fall, bruce?
so that we can pick ourselves up."
Hi,
I have tried to follow your instructions, but its don't works. What now?
With kind regards
if you are using flashtool to flash the stock kernel and stock rom , please let us know first.
if you have problem with flashing the rom , you must remove the battery then place the battery and immediately hold the back button and connect the usb cable to your device...,it will start flashing the rom, after finishing the flash process you must wait till your phone boot itself.it will take about 2-3 minutes.
Hey guys,
as I did not find any matching solutions to my problem (and due to the fact that I can't post within developer forums yet), I opened a new thread. If there has been similar questions like mine with working solutions, then I am sorry to doublepost the problem.
I have a Sony Xperia Z1, model number C6903. I rooted it today, following this method
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aq9YTlfCgc
taken from this original post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572988
I followed the tutorial step by step, rooted the device properly (worked fine, checked with the root basic app checker or whatever its called), and then wiped all data from it using dualrecovery. After that, i put the .290 software onto my sd card and flashed my phone using dualrecovery - as the tutorial said. Finally, I used Flashtool to flash the C6903_14.2.A.0.290_Stripped.ftf onto my phone.
After this process finished, I wanted to boot my phone.
That was when things got weird: The sony logo appeared for a short time, and then it powered off / rebooted itself. Sony logo appeared again, switched off again and rebooted for another time. But it would not do any more than that... seems like its catched within an endless loop or something.
What I tried to solve this problem:
- enter dual recovery: this worked at the beginning, I could switch my phone off and get it out of the loop
- flashed it again (first with dualrecovery, then with flashtool)
- after that I could not even get into dual recovery mode
- then I tried to flash the .534 ftf firmware onto my device, because with that it worked properly after root. But every time I connected my phone within flashmode to my pc and started the flashprocess, my phone disconnected after a short time and booted into the endless loop again
I don't know what else to try, so I ask you guys for help. Should I leave the phone within the loop for a couple of hours hoping that it starts eventually? Should I try to flash again? Is there any other possibility to enter dual recovery? Should I maybe flash an original sony firmware on it?
Thanks in advantage for your help and time,
flamingo

Thanks for the very quick reply. I've just done that, and all went properly! I am now back on .136, and the device works perfect. Think I'll continue with the 4.4 Kitkat instead of the .290, as this did not work out all to well...
Thanks again for your quick and very good advice!

Answers to your questions:
I cannot boot my phone, no lights, no vibration etc.
My computer does recognize it as QHSUSB DLOAD
No, i cannot get access to fastboot/flashmode/recovery.
And no, i do not know why my phone ended up like it did. I was playing a game one time and it never booted again.
What I intend to do.
1. I'm going to try and boot from the sdcard.
2. If 1. fails i'm going to try and use QPST to get the phone going again.
3. If 1. and 2. fail, i'm bringing out the baseball bat.
Unfortunately, I have the same problem So far I have not found any solution

hi there, i have a Sony xperia sp, I'm wanting to install a new ROM, as the 4.3 is hideous, i have rooted, added a recovery mode onto the phone to flash/install the new ROM, but when i try install, it will tell me that it's completed and i restart the phone with the Gapps and ROM installed and the phone won't turn on, so i have to repair it through Sony PC Companion 2.1 to get 4.3 back onto the phone, can someone help me as I'm loosing it with ROM installations, I am aware the phone is capable of running higher versions of android but I don't know why the phone won't install properly.

Hi, are you the original poster of this thread?
If this is so, you will really need to unlock your bootloader first, that is the rule of thumb if you want to use custom ROMs that require an unlocked bootloader. If you flash a ROM that requires an unlocked bootloader on a locked bootloader, the phone won't boot at all. You will need to check if your device eligible for bootloader unlock first!
To remedy your problem of fastboot lasting for 5 seconds, you might want to make sure you installed the correct Xperia drivers. You can install the drivers by navigating through the FlashTool install directory (C:\Flashtool\drivers) and install the drivers from within. Or, if you do not have flashtool, you may download the drivers pack here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2635830 NOTE! Since you are using windows 10, it also uses the same driver verification thingy that was introduced in windows 8+, therefore you will need to follow the link provided under [Troubleshooting] part of the linked thread.
All you need to do is select fastboot drivers, flashmode drivers, and adb drivers for Viskan board.
if you have succeeded on installing proper drivers, you will now have to try again unlocking the bootloader. I highly recommend using FlashTool for unlocking purposes (if youre coming from another device, you might be familiar with the fastboot unlock command).
If fail, one common issue with fastboot lasting for a few seconds is a bad USB cable. Try to find another genuine cable and use it. If you dont have any options, try to position the USB cable in a correct position, so that the connection between your XSP and the PC is solid.
If else fails, i would lastly suggest for you to try on another PC.

No problem, friend! Yes, unlocking the bootloader will wipe the phone's data. This is warned multiple times on the unlock bootloader page of SONY.

I have managed to install the custom ROM, thank you again
I'm running on 5.1.1 but the sp runs very slowly on occasions, would upgrading to v6.0 work fine or even better than 5.1.1? I have noticed its a lot better than 4.3.
