Mugen doesn't have any extended batteries for the Note 2. Any other producer offering these so far?

I agree with both of you that it's damn irritating when an idiot keeps asking the question that's been asked a hundred times before...
The problem here is that if you browse the forum on the phone itself via either the xda or the xda hd app, their search functions are crippled, and you can't search in a forum. So the search gives you a million useless results from other forums.
Thus the only solution, it seems to me, is to just keep leafing through the forum threads manually and it doesn't seem to be easy to identify a result...

Just got it this week. Have to say awesome, lasts forever, the design of the back cover is elegant and the phone is much more pleasant to hold in your hand.

Yes, it's really necessary. I use tte phone all day long, it's on permanently, screen on, without the charger.
That's why this battery is a godsend.

As ridiculous as it may seem, I kind of want one!

Maybe tomorrow. I was very surprised though how elegant the phone looks with this battery. It's the new back cover, has very smooth curves, I like it a lot...

I'm a heavy user, I love my 4600mah battery for my gs3, looks like I get the gn2 tomorrow; so i'm looking at this battery and drooling. I know exactly what you mean about fitting in your hand. I spend my time doing anything from navigation while making phone calls or streaming music, extensive skype usage, constantly in my browser.. fpse is my favorite pastime (and, in fact, why i want this phone, the extra screen will be perfect for gaming those dusty ps1 games in the closet). I've been known to blast my hulu or netflix anytime anywhere, and i like my screen on bright, with all my services running like gps constantly. I get 10-12hrs of screen time depending on my usage..
any way we could get some benchmarks? how much screen on time are we talking? are you gaming, or just reading a book, or streaming video?

No, I don't feel like benchmarking anything.
Basically I can confirm though that this battery is supposedly almost 3x the capacity of the stock one, and based on my experience so far this is indeed so. Thus, I think it's a high quality battery, and whatever you're doing with the phone, you'll be able to do almost three times as long.

I personally think extended batteries are not required for the Note 2, so far this is the best Android phone I have ever used and the battery lasts a day under heavy usage...

Really Disappointed...

I was very excited about the N5 for months. I'm still using a GNex, so I was looking forward to the upgrade. I was actually on the Play Store today within minutes of the phone going on sale, ready to buy the 32bg model. But before I dropped $400, I wanted to check one thing - is the battery user replaceable. It's not, and I didn't buy the phone.
Now before you say just get an external battery, let me explain. I travel very frequently, flying at least 6x per year or more. Thus, my needs are a little different than most. I currently have a 4000mah battery for the GNex that can get me through a 12 hour day of heavy internet, game, and screen usage. I also carry a spare just in case (although I've only needed it once - it was there). The external battery just doesn't provide the portability I need.
So now I'm left with one of these choices:
1. Get a TMo or Google S4 (so I can use CM) - around $450 used
2. Get a G2 Korean Edition (sdcard and removable battery) - $800 new
3. Wait for the S5
Right now, I'm heavily leaning towards option 3. It will do many things better than the N5 for maybe $250 more. I still love the GNex, and I have no overwhelming need to upgrade now. Still though, I had high hopes for the N5. Why did Google have to go with LG instead of Samsung...

Maybe the device is not for you. It's $349, it's cheap and it gets the jobs done for most of those who loves the Nexus series.

3,000mAh on 16 GB was just a rumour squashed after FCC filings were released and Nexus 4 didn't have a removable battery.. so likelihoods of this having one were slim :|

Actually, from the pics, it looked like the back was removable. It doesn't resemble the N4 at all.

I 100% agree. The N5 is a steal at $350/$400. Unfortunately, it doesn't meet my needs.

Maybe a power pack? I don't have it but I heard some people are using power pack on N4

SO get a G2 with a 3000+ battery. Kitkat will be out sooon for it. Actually Im very happy with the G2!!

May be a case with attached battery.. Or else wait. Now many companies doesn't provide replaceable battery except for Samsung.

Don't be in a hurry..wait for some battery/screen time reports here. If you can go a whole day with power to spare, who cares if the battery is fixed? The combination in this unit may surprise you. If you're already convinced you need a replaceable cell, obviously not the phone for you. And that's fine, too.

For an extra $150, I could get the Korean version - removable battery and microSD support. But $800 is ALOT to drop on a phone. Regular G2 without removable battery is no better than an N5 to me, except it costs about $200 more.

I have the same issue, just like you I own a GNex still, how I fixed my problem is owning an additional spare battery and keep it in my wallet.
Unfortunately Google has gone in the direction of non-removable batteries since the N4 and the same with this new device, I had to look else where for extra power. since I can kill both of my batteries 2 x 1750 mAh within 6 hours if I was really bored lol.
As of now, I picked up a 11,600 mAh power bank. yes it's bulky and and an additional thing to carry but it came with a 2 Amp supply usb plug. and I charge quickly with that socket. it cuts my charge time down near 40%. so when I'm low I throw it on that and within 20 minutes I get 30% easily. just put down your phone for a coffee break, it won't kill you

Trust me, delays at the airport will kill a 2300mah battery. And some don't have any outlets available to recharge.

I have a morphie battery pack on my gs3. The phone fits in it like a case. Maybe that would suit your needs.

In this day and age, the need for a removable battery is becoming a bit unnecessary IMO. For $50 or less you can easily find a separate rechargeable battery to carry with you that can provide anywhere from 6000mAh to 10000mAh battery and not just one device-specific battery would; it would use a traditional USB port so you can use it for other devices as well, and allow for the ability to power/recharge something like the Nexus 5 for days on end or multiple recharges over several days time to extend your usage.
I'd love to have a Nexus 5, really, but I won't bother and the primary reason is (again) no expandable storage. I appreciate that everyone at Google believes in "the cloud" and I really hate that phrase, it's client-server and has been for 50+ years now, just calling it "the cloud" means nothing to me in the long run.
But I prefer local storage, even though I have 18,000+ songs sitting on my Google Play account I still have a few thousand of them on the microSD card in my LG Optimus G for local playback, and I'm not really interested in having everything in "the cloud" anyway.
Not having a removable battery in the Nexus 5 isn't even a consideration for me anymore, hasn't been for a long time because I have a nice little 4-AA battery charger I use with 4 high capacity (2600mAh) AA rechargeables - the other benefit is that even if those were to die on me at some point I can always get AA batteries most anywhere.
Just my $.02 I suppose...

Because Samsung is moving away from making devices for anyone but themselves, and according to recent reports, they're actually working towards a custom version of Android for their own specific devices - they may even end up creating an entirely new OS for their own devices and just move away from Android completely, aka Tizen which is still being developed.

Then you need to carry a power bank. I mean, if you're going to carry another cell around anyway to swap, why not carry one that truly buys you days of power, only double or triple a regular cell's thickness, and not need to take off a cover?

Supported Trackbands/Smartwatches for G2

I'm thinking of buying the garmin vivosmart but i'm not sure if it is supported by the G2
is there any "smartwear" for taking notifications and display time/day (as small as possible) and it doesn't need to recharge it every night?

I'm using a Misfit Shine with my LG G2. They are coming out with a "cheaper" model soon, the Misfit Flash, but this will only be about the Shine. As for the website http://www.misfit.com/, so you can check it out. The only thing it doesn't do that you asked about is tracking notifications.
As far as being an activity tracker, it does a pretty good job. There where (don't know if still is) two version of the shine, and it is what it comes with. The version I got came with the magnetic clip and the sports band. The little cheaper model comes with just the magnetic clip. Like most of the trackers, this one is waterproof. Rating for it is 50 meters. So no worries about jumping into the pool with this one and taking a swim.
The major thing about this tacker is that I got mine in April, I just changed the battery a week ago. So it ran for roughly 3-4 months with no charging. But that is the bad part as well, it takes a watch battery. At least the battery is one of the most common ones, and pretty cheap on Amazon. So with this one I was able to get a decent period of time out of it without having to worry about putting it on the charger.
It can tell the time, but does so in a digital/analog way. It shows you where Noon is on it, then shows you the hand, then blinks the minute had for how many minutes past the 5 minute intervals. This is all by the 12 leds on it. To get it to show the time you tap the device two or three times (depending upon settings). This is where the Misfit Flash might be better, as it has a full face button instead of using the accelerometer.
The main negative to this Misfit Shine is that the Android software is a couple of revisions behind ios. It is still useable and will do everything, just annoying seeing a new feature mentioned and seeing that it is only on the ios at this time. Also the software is simple, but they have finally open the API to allow other programs to nab the data. So you might check to see if your preferred health/tracking app has access to it.
Overall I've been quite happy with it. It has survived two trips though the washer, pretty sure it can easily survive more since it is metal. The new Misfit Flash (plastic encloser) might not like the spin cycle as much though.

I'm using the Sony Smartband with my G2. Overall I like it. I paid $80 for it when it came out earlier this year. The battery life is pretty good ranging from 3 to 5 days of use. It has a companion app that works with it called Lifelog. Lifelog tracks a lot of info. There is no screen on the smartband, but it does have touch controls and vibrates when your phone receives an email or a phone call. It is water resistant. I shower and wash dishes with it on. I think I will pick up the newest version when it comes out.
The one issue that I have noticed and reported to Sony to fix is that text message notifications do not vibrate the Smartband like emails, phone calls, and alarms do.
Also, the band they use did cause a little irritation to my skin. I'm not sure if it s from the material or from the band rubbing against my skin when I was wearing it.
Just like the other poster I am using Cloudy G3.

I use a Pebble Steel with my G2, works like a charm! Bluetooth LE allows my phone to sip power, I don't notice the difference in battery when I'm connected to it at all. The pebble has a week long battery which is amazing as well.

Oneplus Hardware Back Mod + Larger battery

Hello there, I am pretty new to this forum so please advise me if there is anything wrong with this thread.
I own a oneplus 3 pretty much since the release date, and I have been very happy with it, except for the not optimal battery life.
Now, as you can take from the heading of this thread, I am thinking about rebleacing the back of my oneplus 3 with a larger one, idealy one that covers up the battery bump, so I can fit in a larger battery. Additionaly I probably will need to transfer the antennas, and do something about the speaker and microphone ports.
I would like to make the back out of aluminum via a cnc service online, but for prototyping a 3D printed solution would probably be sufficient. The other question is, where to find a battery that is larger than that in the oneplus 3s standart battery, but still beeing able to fit it inside the space made availible by the new hull.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this project, especially considering problems, that could occure.
I hope this project is interessting for some of you, and we can make the op3 even more awesome.

Maybe you could get a 3t battery and replace it. It's bigger in capacity,but same in size. Like Jerry did here

That wouldn't work since the battery is different voltage when charged fully. You're gonna have to find a 4.35V (max voltage, I think the nominal voltage is 3.8V) li-ion battery that is the same size in thickness and height but has deeper depth.
Anyways this project sounds like it could have some potential... I'd be really down to see a CNC machines aluminum back cover that can accomodate a larger battery. I would buy one in a heartbeat

Some guys did the swap in the lg nexus 5-they placed inside a lg g2s battery which is 3000mah vs 2300mah! It worked for them,so i think there is a chance for this swap also. Maybe we can also mess around with the kernel to make it work. All of this sounds easier than making new back cover

That's because the Nexus 5 and LG G2 batteries were the same voltage. This has already been tried and at first it didn't charge fully, then OnePlus implemented a safety feature that detects when a OP3T battery is installed and doesn't allow the phone to boot. We could make a kernel that charges to a higher voltage (the opposite of bedalus' BLX mod in his moxie kernel) but it could be dangerous and isn't worth the risk.

Little off topic but any good quality replacement batteries out there I can replace with?
I do love this idea but there's no way to avoid opening your phone, so be very hard to get everyone wanting one.

Well it's super easy to open this phone so it's not that big of a deal.
And check out witrigs.com, they seem to have good quality parts and have a replacement battery for this phone. I took the plunge and bought a new screen since I cracked mine real bad but it hasnt arrived yet, I'll be posting a review on it when it comes.

Actually I do not think, that the voltage would be such a large issue, as the voltage of a lion battery is changing constantly with its charge level, there probably is a voltage regulator of some sort in place anyway. I think that software would be the bigger problem, as phone manufacturers probably don't want you to make there phones better instead of buying their new ones

i personally changed nexus 5 battery with Lg G2 battery, no issue in charging or voltage difference and backup is excellent although When i check with AIDA 64 Battery info showing 2300mah but i know backup is improved and as like 3000mah battery,
and also changed OP3 battery with OP3T No issue at all

I was ready to jump ship from my note 9 and after a lot of thought felt I could regret it. Just my opinion but just wanted to list some of the short comings for people that are getting sucked into the hype of this new product that could help prevent buyers remorse. For others these things may not matter. But seeing that this broke 1000 dollar mark in Canada, im going to get a little more critical.

I ended up ordering the nebula blue 256 gb but I agree with wht u said bruh. Missing some flagship strength.

The hardware to implement 5G is still too expensive and cumbersome to a cellphone's design. Unless you live in a major US city, you're probably not going to see 5G before it's ready to replace your phone anyways

I've only seen 1 reviewer get as low as 4 hours of SOT. Everyone else seems to be getting 7-8 hours of SOT even with the 90Hz refresh rate

Heavier metal components would just put more wear on the motor. It'll be inside the phone 99% of the time, and it retracts if it detects the phone is in freefall, so I don't see a big issue with its durability

Legit complaint. I see the aspect ratio as benefiting readers more than movie watchers, so it's a personal preference.

Qi charging has invited bad practices to take hold. You get longer battery shelf life if you run down the battery before charging vs. it charging all the time, and everyone knows that people do with Qi charging. Heat is the enemy of any battery

Well what can i say... Coming from samsung

It's extremely big - too big for me - and has a gross, Galaxy S7 style curved screen. Other than that, it's fine. No wireless charging and no IP rating are also bad, but less severe as far as issues go.

My only complaint is lack of SD card and weak battery life with 90hx. Still ordered ?

I don't know if I will buy it or not, but the major flaws for me are:
No AOD
No IP67 certification (not because of water, but because of dust - might be no problem but who knows)
Battery life (really fast at charging on the other hand, so not really important to me)
Camera right now is much worse than the P30 pro for the same price, might get better with gcam etc.
Well and all of these are better on the P30 pro. But that has the biggest of all flaws:
Locked Bootloader, no root, no bootloader unlock codes from Huawei.
A P30 pro with an SD855 and an unlocked bootloader would be perfect for me.

They've already made the 7 Pro 5G in cooperation with EE in UK (who expect to have rolled out the technology by the end of this year) and Elisa in Finland (who've already started setup of its 5G network but won't be available to customers until next year)
No word on pricing for the 7 Pro 5G, though.

For me this dumb of price, what a flagship killer.

1st.. 5G isn't even a thing yet and won't be for almost 2 years. The 5G they are pushing is a compression algorithm on top of 4G backbone. Unless you're planning to keep this phone more then 2 years, worrying about 5G is pointless. They are herding you like sheep.
2nd... IP Rating means nothing. If water damaged the phone they still don't fix it. I'd rather what OnePlus is doing and do their own waterproofing and save the money on the IP certification.
3rd... AOD. You know these are AMOLED panels right? They get burn in... No thanks personally. I turned it on on my OP6 ABUT I don't even use it. This is really just personal choice.
4th... Battery. Only 1 review I saw said 4 hours of SOT MKBHD but he had like 5 or 6 social media accounts going at once... Not a true indicator. I've seen more then a couple say they're getting 5-8 hours SOT. I'll wait to judge for myself but think it will be just fine.
And last... Wireless charging. Why does anyone care when it's slow as hell? Warp charging is so so fast wireless is really pointless, unless you have a damaged USB-C port
I'd rather save $300-$500 and have the screen, speed, storage, storage speed (UFS 3.0), the fastest charging then the IP Rating, wireless charging, 5G that you can't use right now

Holy hell, my phone just shipped. I placed the order at 10:03 this morning

For me there is not much that I miss. The headphone jack maybe but I use 95 % of the time bluetooth headphones already now. its big yes, 6 inches would be probably enough but I think I can live also with the current display. Qi charging maybe a bit, but just because I would like to try it because I never had a phone which was capable of it. But with the fast charge of oneplus it is a bit useless. I would rather leave my phone 20 plug to the fast charger than 1 hour on a pad

Actually its not. This could answer questions people may have about this new device in one nice summary. There has been confusion if it came with 5g and WiFi 6 since the snapdragon 855 is supposed to support it, for example.. This helps them make a more informed decision. That being said if I had to buy a phone today it would still be this one.

No it doesn't. It ALLOWS for more antennas (up to 8 instead of up to 4). Even the Intel AX200 adapter for laptops is still using just 2 which are tuned to the same bands that have been used in Wi-Fi since 802.11a and 802.11b. 802.11ax still supports single antenna even.

I got the 12/256gb :victory:

The biggest turn off for me is the curved screen, otherwise it's the best phone of the year so far. Tired of everyone copying Samsung and Apple design gimmicks. Give me top hardware, comfortable and straightforward design, no gimmicks.

Yeah there are two posts already talking about all the whining about battery drain and wireless charging.
paying less for a good quality phone is a big plus
It's crazy that there were reviews on this and everyone complaining like they were shocked about this.
